Tomb Raider9
Dec 30, 2013
Tomb Raider is an exciting, thrilling, and visually gorgeous action/adventure game starring Lara Croft. A girl who goes from being a struggling survivor of a boat crash to a hardened killer almost too quickly. After she is forced to kill someone she is shocked but next thing you know she is stealth killing like a trained assassin. The story is interesting even if some of the characters are two-dimensional and the journals found along the way add to the history and characters on the island. The gameplay is smooth and works just as well as Gears, Mass Effect or any other cover-based shooter. Overall, a really great game with few problems. Can't wait for a sequel!

The Walking Dead: 400 Days9
Oct 15, 2013
The Walking Dead 400 Days maybe not be nearly as compelling and emotionally engaging as Lee and Clementine's story in season 1 but still manages to nicely set up each of the new characters who are sure to be prominent in the series second season. Though only about 1&1/2 hours total it will please fans and shows that Telltale Games can diversify storytelling and still make it work excellently.

The Walking Dead: A Telltale Games Series10
Oct 14, 2013
The Walking Dead tells perhaps the most engaging, phenomenally written, character driven, decision impacting and tension-packed stories ever told in a video game. Only time will tell. But anyone and everyone who loves an incredible story should definitely play this.

The Walking Dead: Episode 5 - No Time Left10
Oct 14, 2013
The finale of the first season, No Time Left is emotionally captivating, beautifully composed (music), and phenomenally written. The Walking Dead The Game told an incredible story that is a huge payoff for all the time and decision making that went into it. Highly recommend it!

The Walking Dead: Episode 4 - Around Every Corner10
Oct 14, 2013
Around Every Corner was a more action based episode and a little lighter on character development but still faces Lee with difficult decisions and adapting to new, more challenging circumstances (and people). All the build-up in this episode leads to the tension-filled cliffhanger which sets up the final episode to be an epic conclusion indeed.

The Walking Dead: Episode 3 - Long Road Ahead10
Oct 12, 2013
The third episode not only proves to do the previous episode justice, but it many ways surpasses it as decisions become increasingly harder with more impactful consequences. The story is also as strong as before with a slightly longer playtime and more tension. The Walking Dead does not disappoint one bit with this third entry in one of the best story-based videogames out there.

The Walking Dead: Episode 2 - Starved for Help10
Sep 21, 2013
Episode 2 Starved for Help is more intense, more engaging, and more compelling than episode 1 making the hard decisions more difficult and the things you wish you could take back more regretful. As Leo Dicaprio said in Django Unchained, Gentlemen, you had my curiosity. But now, you have my attention."

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 - A New Day9
Sep 20, 2013
What The Walking Dead: Episode 1- A New Day lacks in game play it makes up for in story and player decisions that impact episodes to come. This isn't to say the game play isn't good; it's great but is more focused on dialogue and quick, vital decisions. The story is engaging and is as good as (if not better) then the TV show. Each episode is $5 which isn't too much but each episode won't take you more than a few hours to complete. The voice-acting is excellent and the cut scenes are very involving. The visuals have a comic book-esque look to them and work quite well aside from the sometimes clunky facial animations during dialogue. It's not perfect but has me wanted to play more and I am definitely excited to play the rest of the episodes!

Dead Space 29
Sep 2, 2013
Dead Space 2 follows up from Isaac Clarke's last outing with a thrilling, terrifying, and gory survival-horror game. The overall story is fairly interesting but the game play is what really stands out as you have a dozen weapons at your disposal each with it's own grotesque way to slaughter those nasty necromorphs. Stasis and kinesis also add terrifically to game play strategy. Isaac inner struggle is gripping to watch over the course of the game as he experiences betrayals. hallucinations, and being stalked by a necromorph who seemingly can't die! The campaign is a good 14 hours depending on your difficulty and yes the game can be quite difficult, even on the easier difficulties. New game plus adds re-playability with your weapons and upgrades staying with you even after starting a new campaign. The only real flaw is the multiplayer which gets dull very quickly and isn't very fun. Overall, fantastic gameplay, campaign, weapons etc. but not very good multiplayer.

Assassin's Creed III8
Sep 1, 2013
Assassin's Creed 3 is a very well made game with minor issues. The story is engaging and strongly acted. The game's open world is large and split up into New York, Boston, and the Frontier but after finishing the main story there is not a lot of replay value aside from a few side missions and miscellaneous quests. The game play is fluid, but isn't very challenging and has a few camera angle bugs here and there. No spoilers, but the climax of the campaign drags on and then ends abruptly, so I have mixed feelings about it. The visuals are excellent and really immerse you into colonial North America. AC3 will please long-time fans for the most part, but may or may not win over newcomers and skeptics

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game7
Oct 10, 2011
I got this game expecting quite a bit. The levels for this game are fun but sometimes the environments really don't change much. Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful game but it needs a little more varied environments. The gameplay is sometimes very glitchy like any lego game but walking on planks could be worse since you can't walk straight at all. Another thing that bugs me is how some puzzles you have to figure out to advance through a level are actually really hard to find which happened way to many times. I even had to quit my game when I got stuck in the front of a boat. I also wish they could've had music from all 4 films instead of just the first 2. I am a big fan of POTC music and that kinda disappointed me. and now that I am done with negative comments, I will say this game looked very good and the gameplay got pretty fun at parts. The extras in the port royal hub were fun finding and the characters for the most part are unique and creative. The achievements were fun to get but easy, and the game overall was just really great though it had many issues. I would highly recommend this to any pirates or lego game fan but otherwise you might not like it.

Alan Wake9
Oct 10, 2011
Alan Wake is a major success for being a psychological thriller thats plays out like a tv show. The story line for this game is interesting and is full of twists in the plot. You play the role of Alan Wake, a writer, who is looking for his wife who went missing when they were vacationing in a Bright Falls. Bright Falls is a small town in Washington that holds many mysteries, namely Cauldron lake which is in the center of the town. The game's mood is creepy and dark which really is the only "scary" part of it. The gameplay works but could be better and glitches occur occasionally sometimes creating issues. The music also contributes to the eerie feeling of Bright Falls. Though it is a short game and has a rather unfulfilling ending, the DLC should keep you happy but only for a few more hours. The best part of the game in my opinion is the light vs dark theme which involves you racing to sources of light to escape the darkness and removing the darkness from the taken to defeat them. Overall, loved this game, hoping for a new one. What kept this from a perfect 10/10 was the short story and the poor ending.

Red Dead Redemption10

The story is near perfect with unforgettable moments and characters. It has an emotional and epic plot. The size of the game area is massive and has dozens of different side missions which will keep you occupied for hours! Multiplayer is top- notch and has so many fun and creative playlists! Rockstar has made their best game and best game of 2010! One of my favorite games that offers hundreds of hours of offline gameplay alone! So ya get my point? BUY THIS GAME!

Gears of War 310
Oct 10, 2011
Though I played a little bit of Gears 2, I am new to the Gears series. Gears 3 is an outstanding and amazing shooter! I love the third-person cover system which works really well and makes for epic gameplay! The campaign is perfection with a interesting plot line and fantastic boss battles. It also lasts a good amount of time probably 15-20 hours. The new beast mode is very fun and horde mode is even better than in Gears 2! Multiplayer is great also! Overall, this game has little to no issues, so many game modes that are very well made, and just might be the GOTY, but who knows?
