Carmageddon: Rogue Shift

Don't listen to grumblers. They are the same exact people who gave HoMM IV bad press, because it wasn't exactly and completely identical to HoMM III. You want HoMM III, play HoMM III. Same here, you want Max Damage, play Max Damage. What's stopping you? So, to the point. It is a very good racing game. And, indeed, it's not an identical copy of Max Damage, neither is it a remaster of TDR 2000. However, it's a nice new approach. A new game, one could say. So, I'm personally not a huge fan of rogue-lites, but the progression here works like a charm. Also, the "grinding" that people do complain about, is actually pretty good, cause it's finally a game I can open, drive around for a couple of minutes, do some progress not thinking too much and turn it off. I don't get to choose the exact tracks or race types, but that's actually a good thing. Especially as I still get to select the upgrades and make some little path choices. You know how rogue-lites work. Sometimes they make sense, sometimes they do not. Here, I have to tell you, it fits really well. It's simply something new and fresh. I still like the classic Carmageddon games, but when I want to play them, I'll just play them. The game looks and runs surprisingly well on the Nintendo Switch 2 (initial gameplays were pretty scary). The handling is a bit rough, but I'm sure the devs will fix that eventually. I mean it is perfectly responsive and so on, it's simply a bit annoying when you start spinning and can't regain any control of the car. Steering isn't consistent. I like the setup, I like the atmosphere, the music, the zombies. I like the combat. I like a lot of things about this game and there's only like one alternative on the Switch. So, yeah, well worth it. If you like Dead Cells, Balatro and you are also a huge fan of arcade racing games and satisfying combat, I tell you, just give it a try. I'm pretty sure more stuff is coming, because the devs have already done a pretty fantastic job by optimizing the game for the release day just a few days after some horrible gameplays were shown. And even if not, the game is good enough in its current state to give it a chance. I almost didn't try it because of the reviews. And man, do I not regret getting it nevertheless. Don't expect perfection, but also, don't expect a disappointment, cause there's none. I honestly don't get people. And what they whine about. People honestly do tend to overreact.

A 10/10 bowling game. Absolutely astonishing. You wouldn't believe you could do so much stuff in a bowling game. The previous titles are fun, but there's a huge leap between them and this one. It's very addictive and worth every penny. Even if you play solo. There's really a lot of fun here. I'm glad I checked the demo on Steam!

Haha, what incompetence! Truly astonishing! How bad of a programmer one has to be to take a 90s game that required like 10 MHz CPU, and was super-responsive back then, and port it in 2025 in such a way, that there's like half a second input lag in it! Unbelievable! How do all these devs still have jobs! Where did you hire them from? Are they a bunch of junior devs and is this game their class project? What the heck is going on here? How on Earth can a game from the 90s run better natively on modern PCs and consoles than its dedicated 2025 super-duper port? This is absolutely awful. Not worth spending a penny. Honestly, just go on GoG and buy the actual games for like €3. Don't do that to yourself. These guys are so primitive that there's no way they'll fix the input lag any time soon. They're too stupid for that. I wouldn't allow them program my alarm clock for free.

Come on, it's a good game, especially for the low price it's at. When assessing games, you should take in count all the context, to include the price point, and the original release date. People tend to assess every game as the latest AAA title should be assessed, come on. But okay, about the game. It's good. It's a nice game. And it's cheap. It's a nice and simple shoot them up. Reminds me of good shooter games from the PS2 era. It's nice and responsive. Simple, yet challenging gameplay. You can hide behind walls and shoot at aliens. Sometimes I just need to play something as simple as that, not requiring me to follow the story in details, to focus too much or to spend too much time. Sometimes I just need a little game like that. And this one is good for that exact purpose. Not requiring too much attention or time, you just sit down and play. I realize that the standards have changed, but sometimes I'm simply fed up with overcomplicated modern games, which at the same time are too complex and packed with unnecessary "innovations", but yet are meant to be played by 5-year-olds, because every quest related element or poi is literally flashing with arrows pointing to it, so that it's impossible to miss it, and yet, the game renders it impossible to think for yourself. Often they even inform you about the exact keys you should be pressing to do a certain thing, rather than informing you to jump over a gap or something. It's literally "press arrow up and then B to jump and then A to slide". What on Earth are they thinking? And, paradoxally, at the same time you encounter a vast and empty world that's only meant to look good and eat your GPU's power for no reason. Sometimes I just want to get back to simplicity, but also a natural challenge, of PS2 era games. And this one is a perfect example of such. I do recommend getting this one for the low price it's at.

It's actually quite okay, especially for the price. This game is a constant "I have no idea what I'm doing, but it's fun" feeling. The world is bizzare. The whole setting with the music and everything, I quite like it, it's Cyberpunk-ish, but also unique and consistent. The game is indeed pretty primitive, but it's more or less like playing BotW lite, if you want to play some sandboxy adventure, but not too vast, not too complex, this is it. A cheap and good, I would even say polished, game. Really nice. I like it. As I said, especially for the very low price.

Don't get me wrong, this game has very nice graphics, almost no bugs, is a very nice and quality piece of software. Nevertheless, it simply is boring. There is no progression system at all. Almost no difference between the characters and karts. Collectibles are pointless like points in Who's Line Is It Anyway. You can gather stuff, but there's nothing to be achieved. Everything that could be achieved is achieved in the first 2 hours of gameplay. Remaining stuff is some pointless stickers etc. which make absolutely no sense. After like 5-10 hours this game became so boring and pointless to me that I deleted it and never even felt like re-downloading it. There's no additional tracks, modes, skills, upgrades, literally nothing awaiting you. I don't get Nintendo fan boys. Honestly. It's same with Mario Kart 8, which is even more pointless, cause you play just to play, there's even less progression than here (there's absolutely nothing to be gained from playing, here at least you get some characters). It's a very well crafted piece of software, but there's no heart, no soul, the game becomes boring very quickly and is extremely expensive. BTW resolving the P-switch missions is, first up, EXTREMELY easy, like, designed for like 6-year-olds, and also gives you ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL. There is no point. Absolutely no point. I miss Need For Speed Underground 2. We need that on the NS system, not this crap. Cheers

Do not purchase the Nintendo Switch version, because it runs at 30 fps, even the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game runs at 30 fps, which is absurd. It should easily be 60 on the Nintendo Switch 2. Furthermore, this is basically a mini-game for the price of an AAA game. It's a fun little arcade racer for like 1 hour of gameplay. And it costs like it was the latest Forza Horizon. Purchase Go Rally instead. Or Rush Rally Origins. Or Super Woden GP II. Anything would be better and way cheaper, and would run in 60 fps.

Controls render this game absolutely unplayable. And for some mysterious reason there is no way to readjust the controls. There is no way to steer normally in this game, as you would expect, basically ZR being gas, ZL brake, and left stick being your steering wheel. Oh, no. What they did is absolutely absurd, left stick is both gas, brake and direction, you basically go where you point with it. So awful, so unintuitive. Do not purchase this game on the Nintendo Switch. Could be better. For its core, it's a fantastic arcade racing game with much potential. Very simple, responsive. Fun to play. It has a unique (and pretty) design idea. I like the way it mixes the 2D cars with 3D tracks. The game is a bit unpolished, though. Some levels are a bit buggy and could have better curves, for more dynamic gameplay. However, for what it is, and for its price, I can recommend trying it.

I started with Spintires on a PC and it was an interesting novelty, but didn't pull me for a longer time. Then I played Mudrunner both on my PC and on the Switch and I liked it a lot, but it got repetitive after some time, but also all the maps looked exactly alike and were quite gray-ish and depressing. But then I got Snowrunner on a PC (base game) and I was astonished with the graphics, but didn't quite have time to continue playing it. But recently it was on a discount on the Nintendo Switch. And since it is the best platform for my short sessions, I got it there with literally all DLCs. And, man. Not only does it look so good, even though it's running on a 2005 calculator's CPU of the Nintendo Switch, but it also runs so smoothly. Of course, not comparable with the PC version, but yet, I don't expect much more from the NS, which allows me to play it in handheld for like 4 hours. Anyway, I have to say. The game is rich. I recommend getting DLCs to avoid the initial grind and some frustration (unless you like challenges). They don't break the game, but they do give you some nice little push. But, yeah. There is a lot to do. With very little repetition. Every other mission or map is unique. Customization is mad. The sandboxness of the game is perfect. I do honestly recommend it on the Nintendo Switch. Personally, I do absolutely love it.

Bro. I don't get all the complaints. It's a very well executed AAA arcade racer. It's beautiful, responsive, nice and extremely satisfying. Repetitive? Bro, it's a racing game. You're supposed to be racing. How should a racing game not be repetitive? Are you expecting some plot twist in which it turns out you're an agent chasing the aliens in a rocket? Environments are good, handling is nearly perfect, physics could be a bit better, but come on, it's just good and works amazingly well on the Switch. It's definitely one of the best racing games on the Switch.

This game would even have some potential, because the handling is acceptable, maps are okay-ish and cars make sense. As for a **** one-pound game, okay. The regular price is absurd though. Considering expectations (it's a cheap indie game and not an expensive AAA title, with a realistic price of around 1 pound) it would even be 5/10. Like "nah, but it's okay". However, the absurd decision to assign all controls to one analog stick without even the tiniest possibility to change that in any kind of options makes the game absolutely unplayable, if it's good or not. It's simply a SCAM at this point. Cause one simply can't even play it. Yes, you got me right. Your acceleration is left analog up, breaking is left analog down, steer left is left analog left and steer right is left analog right. For whatever made up reason. In a freaking drifting game. I wish I could return eShop games, cause this one is not even worth that pound I spent.

Secondary, the devs notice issues in a 10 year old game that barely makes any more money and fix them, while still providing new content. Some people here forget to take different criteria in count. Like for instance, this is not an AAA title, and hence the price is way lower, so should be our expectations. And honestly, I think that this game gets far less recognition than it deserves. It could have more maps, true. Sometimes it can be too chaotic and the level design could be better, true. But man, for the price, this is an ideal game for the Switch. It's pretty unique, very addictive, car handling is a pure joy, beautifully responsive and intuitive. I'm giving it 10/10 IN ITS CATEGORY. So, no, I don't think that this game is just as good as BotW or TotK. But you need to remember that when you assess something on Metacritic, you do it in a certain category. There's nothing like an objective 10. Anyway, for the game it is, which is a low-budget nice little online event-based semi open-world game, it deserves the highest score, because it simply works and delivers. I encountered no bugs nor did I encounter design solutions I didn't understand. The game is simple and yet very fun to play. A very good loading game. But it is NOT a cheap mobile garbage made with assets from the asset store. It is truly an honest product made by honest developers, who cared. And you can feel it. It matters. I love the handling model. I hope to see more from the devs, especially on the Switch, which lacks similar games. And one more quick note. I own Lego 2K Drive and I personally find this one far better.

This game works terribly on the Nintendo Switch. And it's literally a game from like 2009 or something. I really don't understand the devs' decisions to make games look good instead of making them responsive. What I want is a 60 fps smooth and responsive arcade racing game on the Switch and that's what we all loved about the games in 2000's. Unfortunately, since about 2012 devs suddenly decided to push better graphics and ignore everything else. And it is basically what this game is. It looks good and that's all. Driving model is a disaster, responsiveness doesn't exist, controls are pathetic, with input lag at about 0.5 s. That's sad about this game and every other game currently available on the Nintendo Switch. Keep waiting on some actual port of some actual good old game with actual good controls, responsiveness and sense of speed without all that fancy graphics and 1-hour long animations. Just ask yourselves how is that that Forza Horizon sells the best even though it looks terrible nowadays. It does, because it's freaking responsive. And that's all. But still not as responsive as the Need for Speed Underground 2. So just port it and you'll have our money for your minimal effort. Just do it and take the money. I absolutely Love Rockstar Games for creating such a game that works just fine, out of the box, on Windows 10, like, 20 years later. Sometimes I'm in a mood to play a simple, old-fashioned arcade racers, without all that fancy stuff. And this one, man. A very good one. Especially if you're bored after beating NFSU2 for the 90th time. The only issue I have with Rockstar Games is that they don't want my money. Why won't you allow me to buy your older games on Steam or whatever? Why did you remove GTA2 from Steam? And especially, why won't you port Midnight Club Collection (especially Midnight Club L.A.) for the Nintendo Switch and PC? Especially Switch, it suffers from lack of such games. Anyway, I love the game. It's simple as heck, and yet extremely fun!

With all honesty I hate Codemasters for adding the freaking DRM that made this game COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE on Windows 10 in 2023. Shame on you! DRM ****!

It's a well made, solid and addictive low budget drifting game. It doesn't look great, nor does it introduce anything extraordinary, but for the price and obvious moderate expectations it easily deserves a 8/10 for it's great responsiveness, handling model, customization, addictiveness and progression. It's a perfect relaxing or loading game, but it can also be considered a good and solid game per se, especially if you're a drifting freak that wants all cars and tracks unlocked. I can honestly recommend the Switch version. Just keep in mind that it's not the NFS, but neither is it terrible. It is definitely not one of those cheap SCAM games available in the eShop nowadays. It's obviously low budget, created by one guy, but as for what it is, it's very good and polished. Just get it and ask no more.

So far it looks very promising. Can't wait to continue playing it soon. That's all I love about souls-likes, all in one place. Regarding the optimization, I honestly don't understand the issues here. I have the latest NVIDIA drivers on my PC and the game runs just fine out of the box. And please note that my PC is poor, cause I'm poor. 32 GB 2133 MHz, Ryzen 5 2600, GTX 1660 and a slow, an old good SATA Seagate HDD 5400. The game in fact keeps reminding me that the HDD might be a bit too slow, but it works nevertheless. Of course, at first the framerate was pretty unstable, but I did what every PC gamer is supposed to do and reconfigured the game, since all of our configurations differ and it's not a game console to expect everything to be optimized perfectly out of the box. I hope that some big heads from the review bombing will finally get it. What I did was turning all effects off, that is the motion blur and stuff. The game works just fine at 60 fps locked and no issues in 1080p, because that's the maximum resolution that my GPU supports (I can't believe I have to explain this to the PC players). And the game still looks beautiful. To all I explained above, please note that the devs will most surely optimize the game even more, so I really can't complain. From the gameplay perspective, it's super-responsive and I like the mechanics so far, but I haven't yet even touched the story, but I've watched some gameplays so I can say from that perspective that it looks super good as for such a small dev studio and can't wait to go through it. UPDATE: Yep it's good.

It's okay. Nothing too fancy or unusual, but I'm pretty surprised that literally, like, one of the worst gamedev studios I know finally made something bearable. Honestly, when it comes to the sense of speed of a pure arcade racing game and racing itself, I'd put it even higher than Lego 2K Drive on the Switch, which, racing-wise, is basically boring. This one delivers what it's supposed to - decent arcade racing. With decent tracks and base mechanics. But it also lacks content a bit. However, you'll definitely spend some good time on a pure arcade racing here, if that's what you're looking for. I don't praise this one, but I also can't complain. I purchased it discounted (about €40) and I got what I paid for. Maybe it could've been a bit cheaper, but let the devs develop during those inflation times, cause, as we can see, everyone can improve (after their previous titles there seemed to be no hope, and here you go, something better, so who knows what they will be capable of in another few iterations). So, yeah. In general, it's a fun little game. Very responsive and intuitive. Something that's nice to play in short sittings. I still hope for some updates/patches, like for the AI (to become smarter), for the driving model or mechanics (to make it a bit more interesting), or in general, for some more content. See, if this game was like their previous titles, I wouldn't dare asking for more content. But here I do. Because there's finally something with some potential. Don't expect too much, buy it on a discount and you'll be happy. It's really okay. What I like the most is the responsiveness and simplicity of racing, because that's what the arcade racing is about. It has a decent selection of tracks and sense of competition. I'm not disappointed (and I expected to be).

Don't buy it, because it will apparently lose it's support in, like, 2 years, as The Crew 1 just did. For no freaking reason. And the best part is that Ubisoft games are apparently purchased temporarily, because you won't even be able to play this game offline, which is the stupidest decision on Earth made by its devs. Buy Forza instead, because it won't ever lose it's servers, but even if it will, it will remain freaking playable in offline mode, as the normal computer games do. I dislike Ubisoft's devs for failing so pathetically yet again to support their own product and for failing to provide a simple update to allow the game's owners to play it offline. Boycott Ubisoft, because the games you are purchasing from them won't be your games in like a year, because they simply don't give a ****. Also, did I mention that if you don't log in to Ubisoft for 6 months, they delete your account permanently with all your games? Now, how stupid is that!!! Original review below: When I tried the beta I was like "nah, it's okay", but they really delivered and changed things insanely since then. I'm a huge fan of all open world arcade racing games and this one is just a perfect one. I won't compare it to Forza or NFS, because there's no point. They're all different, so sometimes I'll play Forza and sometimes TCM, but in general, yeah, I like it a lot.

Game 9/10, Port/Effort 2/10, Price 1/10. Average: 4. Rockstar's devs are basically lazy **** that want our money for no effort whatsoever. If it was either half the price or indeed remastered, then it would be perfect. This title costs more than RDR2 on PC. Where's the logic?

This game is boring, that's it. Technically it's okay, but it's boring, not interesting, the gameplay is just "nah, can be", and it has nothing to do with arcade racing or driving. It's just some awkward being that doesn't know what it wants to be. I love racing games and this one is just boring. It's a pity that you can't get a refund on the eShop, this one's worth it. The physics is the same for all cars, it causes no desire to collect more cars. There is no upgrades etc. The physics is too easy, like a game for kids, nothing even near to Forza or other good arcade racing titles. If it was at least like in the Hot Wheels on the Switch, I'd like it more. (Here you just hold throttle and win every race with ease, unless some awful rubberbanding happens, because you hit the wall 3 seconds before the finish). It's a racing games without racing. There's more awkward and repetitive missions that aren't engaging whatsoever. I play every arcade title, I love them all. All The Crews, NFSs, Forzas, Test Drives, Hot Wheels, you get the drill. This one is not even close. I expected something like Forza Horizon Lego Expansion X Lego City, but I got a bowl of poop instead. You can eat it after all, but it's not fun.

I honestly do not understand that score here. I'm a huge fan of arcade racing and I purchased this one in 2023 for like no money and I have to say, it's a well designed and pretty addictive game for like a Trackmania fan, cause it's the same vibe and has A LOT OF CONTENT. And a lot of replayability, if you like optimizing your runs. I don't understand complaints about the controls. I expected some hell, but it actually controls pretty good with a Xbox 360 controller. Indeed, it has some learning curve, but that's the point. It has to be difficult. Otherwise it wouldn't be entertaining. But it's not like annoyingly difficult. It's just something that you have to put effort into. Like, not only controlling the car properly, but taking corners ideally, braking where it's necessary (and it's pretty cool in this game). The controls are not clunky, they are just what you'd actually expect driving 300 mph... You have to be careful and precise, that's it. But it's totally doable. It's a matter of learning the controls rather than luck. And, yeah, the controls are pretty responsive. It's not a never-brake-keep-accellerating-no-matter-what type of game. And I appreciate it for that. Anyways, I like it. It's unique. It's not a standard arcade racer, but rather a Trackmania-like alternative. I love it and I'll keep getting back to it. If you're wondering if it's worth €10 on Eneba - YES, if your IQ is above 100 of course and you understand the idea behind this game.

Forza Horizon 5: Rally Adventure

So, unlike the others here, I like the idea (I love rally games), I like the map (it's not the same as Mexico as the others say), I like the cars and their handling, the surfaces, weather, the events and the overall implementation. However, what I dislike the most is possibly the most crucial part of this DLC. The co-driver's pace notes are pathetic. The people who worked on it have no idea about this sport. The co-driver should use the professional pace notes (1-right, 3-left, 6-right and so on), also it lacks some standard pace notes I'd expect to be here ("tightens", "long", "to", "100", "don't cut" etc.), as well as it has some awkward, completely incorrect and pretty pathetic pace notes like "water" instead of the freaking "splash". And you cannot change it in settings! There is no option to switch to actual rally nomenclature from this childish and incorrect bs. On the other hand I don't care about the rally event realism like repairing your car between the stages, because, after all, it's supposed to be an arcade game (and I love arcade games), where you simply take your gamepad and drive. If I want more realism like that (said, I find more time), I can always play some Dirt or V-Rally. So that's not my point. The events are fair enough. But the co-driver is messed up so badly I have to reduce my score by 2 points. I reduce by another 2 points because this DLC is nothing like "wow", super-innovative or whatever. I like it, as I said, but it's just "okay". Unlike the other reviews claim, in my opinion it's not "more of the same", but it's also nothing extraordinary. Hence 6/10.
