Atonement8

Astonishing, thought provoking film with brilliant cinematography. Guilt can impact someone's life in the most severe way possible. Having to live with the fact that it is your fault is difficult to bear. This movie captures this lesson in the best way possible. I rated this movie a 82.4 (Great Movie!)

The Fault in Our Stars7

With a predictable plot, it attempts to manipulate you into crying from the very beginning, not just with sadness but with happiness. Mission accomplished. Rating: 67.9 out of 100 (Above Average)

A Cinderella Story4
May 26, 2014
They tried but failed. The actors are terrible, the camera work is terrible, the story is terrible when in comparison to the original. This movie is too implausible to make sense. They tried to put their own little spin from the original but it just did not work for teenagers in today's age. At about the twenty minute you are begging for the two to hook up already but it feels like it takes forever. If you want to take Cinderella from animated to real life there has to be much more care and effort involved.

Return to Never Land3
Mar 25, 2014
This movie is made for children and is not well done for general audiences. The magic from the 1953 original is lost. The story is what I find to be most troublesome. If this is a continuation of the first one, shouldn't Peter Pan have Captain Hook's ship as he did steal it from him in the previous movie. Also, the little girl does not believe in fairies although she is staring one right in the face, kind of odd. Also the fact that I like Captain Hook's character a lot more than Peter Pan is not a good thing. In the end the poor animation, poor voices, and poor story all resulted in a terrible movie and a 27.6 out of 100.

Eyes Wide Shut6
Mar 24, 2014
Perhaps I need to watch this again. Roger Ebert said it best; "the reconciliation at the end of the film is the one scene that does not work." And he was right, it felt like they had to tie up any loose ends and they had to do it fast as this film was approaching two and half hours. This needs to be watched with some effort as it will be difficult to understand for many. However, the movie is very well done but has its faults. It is an average film with score of 57.1 out of 100.

The Spectacular Now7

Drinking and Driving is legal nowadays. This movie surprised me, coming in knowing the actor who was going to be in it I had average expectations but he was terrific. They could not have picked a better actress to play Aimee and she played the role beautifully. You actually become really attached to the characters which made this movie much more emotional than I ever though it could possibly be. The worst part of the movie was the two terrible actor/actress who played each others friends, just no need for them. Final rating is 68.9 out of 100.

The Other Guys6
Mar 19, 2014
This movie has a strong start with laugh after laugh but it cannot contain this for the second half of the film. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell are great together and some of their arguments are going to be classics in our generations movie history (tuna vs lion). I give this movie a 64.9 out of 100.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire6
Mar 16, 2014
Worse than the first one but still a decent movie. The first hour was interesting and really made you think but after that it turned into something everyone has already seen before. The game, not much different and not any better than the game in the first one. Visuals are great and Jennifer Lawrence as usual is wonderful but in the end it is slightly above average movie with an 62.6 out of 100.

Jumanji5
Mar 14, 2014
No logic to be found. This movie has a terrible script to go along with a story that is very poor. It is action packed but it has many problems. For instance it is raining and flooding inside the house. Here's an idea, go outside. This type of thing happens often in this movie and creates some humor that the movie has no intention of creating. It is a fun watch but has many flaws -- 46.8 out of 100

The Parent Trap6
Mar 12, 2014
No doubt better then what I expected but still it is too happy and fun loving than it should be. It's a fairy tale that like many other Disney movies is enjoyable to watch. The acting performances are actually very well done. But this movie suffers from a long running time. In the end this movie is above average with a 62.6 out of 100.

I Am Legend7
Mar 11, 2014
Manhattan when no one is living there anymore is awesome to see. Will Smith was decent in his role and the dog should have been nominated for best supporting actress/actor. The story was lacking in some aspects and the zombies were not all that impressive. I give this a 69.3 out of 100.

Remember the Titans7
Mar 10, 2014
A Disney story with a Disney ending. The movie tweaks a few details of the true story to make it pleasing for everyone watching. And that is exactly what it was, enjoyable to watch with great quotable speeches. But it was just too predictable and too "soft" for my taste but good insight to what it was like in those days. My final score is 71.8 out of 100.

Saving Private Ryan9
Mar 8, 2014
What a masterpiece. The depiction of fighting in World War II is incredible to watch and feels very realistic. The set decoration is amazing and with Tom Cruise as lead actor it is tough to go wrong here. However, the movie is almost three hours and does drag on a bit but it has many really terrific scenes. This is a must see and I give it an 89.9 out of 100.

The King's Speech9
Mar 7, 2014
This movie is near perfection. Winner of four Oscars rightfully so, you will not be disappointed after watching this. An incredible true story of a man trying to get over his stammer and fear of public speaking which many people can easily relate to. The cinematography is absolutely amazing and really makes you feel nervous for him while watching the film. In terms of acting, everyone in the movie is brilliant especially Firth in the leading role. Overall this is one of the best movies I have ever seen and is the highest rating I have ever given on Metacritic. 91.3 out of 100.

Silver Linings Playbook8
Mar 7, 2014
The chemistry of the cast cannot be beat and the performances are top notch that make this a very enjoyable look into the lives of those with mental illness. I give this a solid 77.1 out of 100.

Not Another Teen Movie6
Mar 7, 2014
Going into this movie you have to learn not to take it too seriously. It's a parody of teen movies and is hilarious at parts but overall it still felt like just any other teen movie. I will give it a 58.5 out of 100.

Saw 3D4
Mar 5, 2014
They're not even trying anymore and they saved the worst for last. This movie is terrible from acting, story, pacing, to the traps not even being that clever. It has turned into a generic slasher film. What used to be Jigsaw putting people through wicked traps to prove to themselves that they deserve the life that they've been given is no longer there. It is now Jigsaw's predecessor killing people for no reason, people who do not deserve to die. Even the twist at the end was not that exciting. I am just glad that this is over and we hopefully have seen the last Saw movie. I give this movie a 35.1 out of 10.

Saw VI6
Mar 5, 2014
Much improvement from the previous two. The story is better with less flashback and more concentration on a game. And the game actually makes sense this time and is also more creative. At the end I actually cared if the person lived or died which was different from Saw IV, V. However, due to it being just an average story line and similar to what we have already seen I cannot give this any better then 61.8 out of 100.

Saw V4
Mar 4, 2014
If you thought the last one of series was bad get ready for this one. This movie has two stories that do not relate to each other whatsoever. Similar to the last one there is a story that uncovers the truth of the Jigsaw character and another where people are in his games. There is little known about that characters or their background especially those involved in the game. The other story again displays that hard police work is somehow a negative. Those who work the hardest and get closer to solving the case seem to suspect number one. Also for all those gore fans out there, this has less gore and it is under budget. Bad story, bad characters, bad actors, bad pacing gives this movie a 41.4 out of 100.

Saw IV5
Mar 2, 2014
Worst of the series thus far. The movie is a history lesson of John Kramer a.k.a Jigsaw with a sick game every once in a while to keep the audience interested. The movie really was not needed and the story line was all over the place. I give it a 47.9 out of 100

Saw III6
Feb 27, 2014
Back on track after the second one. The story is an improvement and the ending is clever. The series is better when there is more storytelling and focus on the relationship instead of people just trying to survive. Also I must point out that the score or the theme music used in this movie is unforgettable. However, due to the extreme gore throughout this movie it is not for everyone even those who have the strongest of stomach's might turn away. In the end this is a big improvement from the second and only slightly worse than the first, I give it 61.0/100 (above average)

Saw II6
Feb 26, 2014
It has loss the unique and clever nature of the first one. We're used to the idea now so they tried to introduce some new and exciting traps that definitely helped the film. However, the acting is comical at times and overall it was just not that well done. At best this is an average movie, I gave it a 56.4 out of 100

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug6
Feb 25, 2014
It was an improvement from the previous installment but continues to lack memorable characters due to a shortfall in character development creating no emotional attachment to any of the dwarfs travelling with Bilbo Baggins. However, the visuals are amazing it is much more action packed compared to the first one giving it a final score of 64.6 out of 100.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey5
Feb 25, 2014
These are just not my type of movies. I did enjoy some parts of the Lord of Rings and this one just is not as good. Characters are not as memorable and the journey is not as good as the Lord of the Rings, but maybe this will change in the next two. Something else that annoyed me is that just when we think one or some of them are going to die, they are saved by something ridiculous and makes you wonder why doesn't the wizard just use his powers all the time to protect them? Just a thought. In the end I would have rated this movie lower but due to the incredible special effects I gave it 54.5/100.

Before Midnight6
Feb 24, 2014
Warning to people that are going to watch this, it is much better if you have watched the first two. This movie is all dialogue and I mean every single bit and the scenes are excruciatingly long but in the end this movie shows the true side of marriage and shows how difficult it can really be. I would give this a 58.9/100 mostly due to the fact that the pacing was slow.
