That may not exactly thrill those who admire the Saw films only for their splatter quotient, but all told, this is a more affecting study in grief, guilt and human frailty than "Babel."

The question for moviegoers: Would you rather get your dose of existenz-philosophie from Dostoyevsky or a slasher flick?

Best in the series. Fantastic story and brutal twist at the end as always. Probably the best traps in the whole series. Highly recommend this saw out of all of them.

A nightmarish film but yet so good at its plot it is sensitively awesome. And seeing Jigsaw finally getting killed was a important part in the Saw trilogy. Definitely a must watch for die-hard Saw fans like me.

Bottom line, those in the "Saw" factory know their audience and have brought along the appropriate buckets and bibs. Even devotees, however, may note pacing problems and tire of Jigsaw's selective omnipotence.

Saw III may be the best of the trilogy; hopefully, it'll encourage its makers to wrap the franchise on a relatively high note.

The Globe and Mail (Toronto)
The presence of some genuine feeling distinguishes Saw III from its predecessors. That said, it has plenty of the blood, torture and dismemberment that moviegoers demand from their Halloween weekend entertainment.

Village Voice
This is laughably absurd, but unlike the first "Saw," the third installment gives no indication that its humor is intentional.

Television is a state of mind. And the makers of Saw III have delivered the most despicable episode of "One Life to Live" ever.

Ok Saw II was pretty crap, Saw III however goes back to what made the original great. It begins to continue the story of detective Matthews but then loses itself in an even bigger story, someone is copying the Jigsaw killings but giving their victims no hope of escape. With Jigsaw on his death bed dying of a brain tumour and his apprentice Amanda being a pretty stubborn **** a doctor and her husband must play their own games to earn back their lives. Though the plot is pretty crappy the traps are nice and finally some good gore rather than the **** few litres of blood we have been used to over the past couple of years. Intestines, brains and even some mulched up pigs are thrown into the line up with the most disgusting Saw yet.

Saw III, the third Saw sequel, isn’t bad but it’s a step down from its predecessors. The film starts by showcasing two grisly Jigsaw murders including one involving Detective Kerry. The remaining portion of the film involves Jigsaw tormenting Jeff, the father of a young boy killed by a drunk driver and testing him in various ways to see if he will save various wrongdoers from his past from elaborate death traps. On the other side of the coin, Amanda has kidnapped Jeff’s wife who is a neurosurgeon and forces her to operate on her mentor, John “Jigsaw” Kramer. She places a contraption around her neck that will kill her if Jigsaw’s heart rate reaches zero. The brain surgery scene is gruesome, intense and will satiate the thirst for gore. However, with this one it felt like the torture porn was often being used as substitute for scares.

Why did she see a vision in the mirror at the start, it felt so out-of-place. There is a trap and gore overload but the story isn't as compelling as the first two. Maybe it went a bit far into the torture porn realm. Also it's probably too long. There is enough story and characters that it's above average but not as good as the first two. The character motivations are flawed here. It finishes the trilogy well enough, a good conclusion.
