The game is cute and all, and even shows hints of promise.... but unfortunately the gameplay is stupid, fiddly, frustrating, and the controls are clumsy. You have to keep running back to the first aid place after every single thing you do, or you fail the next one... And every time you fail due to stupid fiddly frustrating game mechanics and clumsy controls, you have to roll back and start again from a save point somewhere back in time...
Even the mechanic of rolling while running around the map ****. And that's just a basic navigation thing... The actual battles are way worse. Also after about 8 hours of playing, it's getting very very repetitive. Like, it's frustrating and hard, sure, some great games do that... but then this game doesn't even pay you back with interesting progression. Just more and more of the same, except more frustrating. I'm not playing anymore. I've had enough. It's been an annoying waste of money and time. Do not recommend.

Annoying.. this game is stupidly hard and has complex game mechanics with no real explanation..... Which can be a fun challenge.... But then on top of that the text is painful to read on the screen, and there is no gyro aim control. Honestly a complete waste of the money I paid. If Nintendo allowed refunds I would have refunded the hell out of this in the first 30 minutes after buying it. Since they don't, I guess it's a reminder to never buy ported games for the switch that don't actually take into account what the switch is. Compare this game on the switch to portal on the switch, it's not even close. Portal is so much better.

The original game is an OK dungeon crawler. The Switch port is buggy shovelware carelessly ported to the switch with no care, just cynically exploiting a valuable franchise for money.... honestly, if they cared there would NOT be the bugs you can easily search for online with this game on the switch. None of these bugs are even going to be hard to replicate or fix if the developers had any resources to do it... The absolute ripoff of forcing people who already had the game to go and buy all the newest DLC packs separately with no discount, while happily giving a huge discount for new game buyers who can get the complete bundle in one single purchase is just adding insult to injury, really.

this game is not the best game in the world, but it is very cool. I like it a lot and come back to it over and over. it can be frustrating to get through some bits sure, and you will die a lot of times, but generally the hard aspects seem *fair* to me. I don't ever feel I missed a move because a problem with the game messed me up.... Just, you need to not get hung up on your character dying and re-spawning all the time, I guess. Repetitiveness was never really an issue for me because I never played it obsessively for hours and hours in a row.. I have other games to play when I feel like a break from celeste.. :-)

it's ok... cute art and interesting idea, but I don't know... it just keeps losing me. Whoever created it is good, but needed to spend more time making the playability a bit better I think.

I really liked this game. lots of silly fun. I did find the fighting a bit cumbersome, and that could probably be improved a bit.... But overall it was very enjoyable and I would have said totally worth getting. Biggest issue is the BUGGYNESS towards the end. It played great to start but at one point near the end had an error dialog that killed the game, and I had to restart... And now in the final battle, I get REPEATED freezes that kill the game.... and it's really hard to even GET to that battle (I only got there twice) then the game goes and ruins that battle. and freezes completely (last time it froze with the vibration running!) totally dead. no response from the game... but home button gets me to the basic switch menu where I can either go back to my frozen game (doesn't fix anything) or kill the game and lose all the progress in the last level up to the final boss... anyway. So, buggyness has totally ruined this game for me. it **** and its such a ripoff that whoever made this couldn't even make a game that lets you play through to the end. Absolute broken trash, I want my money back.

Look, it's OK. but after playing bastion, it's not in that league. I bought this on an eshop sale with a handful of other games, and maybe that's the problem - but I found the whole weapon slots thing unnecessarily fussy and honestly I'm not sure if I'm ever going to put the time in to figure it out because by the time they started becoming necessary to really get into, I wasn't really being drawn into the story of the game or really prepared to dig in to keep at it.... Maybe if I'd bought less games at the same time then I wouldn't have had other options to play and would have stuck with it? I don't know... but I didn't have this issue with the other games I bought at the same time.

I bought this because I was excited by reviews linked here, but as much fun as the first few hours were I find it's quite a grind once you get past the first big achievement of clearing the king's castle.. you go from a tight and well directed thing that's lots of fun to a wide open field of things you could try but everything is ridiculously OP and so you go back to the ones you already did and grind grind grind in the hope of eventually getting new forms and abilities that might help you with the new crazily OP areas.... In short, it went from great fun to totally not fun and I am not sure I have the enthusiasm or energy left to try and get out of this giant drag that the game served up.

I love the graphics and the gameplay.. It has a cool steampunk look. This would have been a great side scrolling acrade shoot-em-up for my kids to play, but the cut scenes and attempt at bolting a serious story line that push it to an M rating are just pointless and annoying and seriously limit the game's appeal.

It works fine and is basically the same great game (if a little aged nowdays) as when I played it on PC all those years ago... I find the console controls without the added benefit of the physical movement control really get in the way of my enjoyment.... Guess I'm a mouse and keyboard player rather than a dual stick player.... If you enjoyed this on the PC, you may find the experience on the switch less fun in handheld mode.... But once you plug into a TV and disconnect the joycons from the switch you have a whole other world - the added accuracy the movement control gives back really makes the difference between the game being playable and not playable IMO... only other issue I have is the game save mechanic is JUST LIKE the old PC version.... which is pretty anachronistic compared to modern games where your progress gets saved automatically... I lost a bunch of progress almost all the way to the end of a whole section due to just turning off the game at one point to do something else.... I do wish there was some kind of more modern autosave happening. Even though I learned my lesson and probably won't forget to save progress before turning off again..

The game is nicely animated and fun to play... Main issue is you are constantly stopped from playing with various conversations you have to click though, and cut scenes that take up more time than they are worth.... Trim the fat, and find a way to tell the player what's happening without locking everything up and this game would be a lot better.

this is a really lovely and engaging game. put together by a very talented team of people. It's not just that everything just works, everything is really great. graphics, sound, gameplay, weapons and dynamics.. it's all fantastic. And it's got lots of levels, and they are all well thought out and playfully designed and generally lots of fun. My kids love this game so much. I think in time, this is going to be one of the defining must have games of the switch console.

LOL at the frustrated musos in here expecting a switch game to be the same as a professional studio software... this app/game is great. Everything works well (as long as you don't totally overload it with too much going on, then it drops the ball pretty badly and starts lagging/stutterig... maybe limiting what you can add would have been a good idea here) the controls are really well thought out, I think, and you can have lots of fun banging out techno with it... no it's not a professional studio. I don't think it was meant to be one. it's a continuation from the old korg DS-10 cart I had on my nintendo DS. and it's WAY better than that fun little program ever was.

I really loved playing this game. Pretty sure I'll play it again. The graphics and general gameplay just work really well on the switch I think.... I also love the narration (it's the sort of thing that could really mess up a game if done badly but I think it was perfect)

This game has been great value for money. We all just keep coming back to it over about a year. It's not played all the time, but it's never really forgotten for long either. There's nothing stressful or hard about playing it. No ground-breaking cinematic narrative. Just lots of silly fun.
