Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores8

The new machines are annoying (in a good way) the new weapons are fun, the new environment looks great. The story feels more compelling than the main game, simply because it reminded me more of the way the story was told in zero dawn. But here's my big problem with this dlc: it's way to short. And there's also not enough side quests to fill this vacuum. Sure there are some "treasure hunts" and "activities but those aren't really that motivating for me. If there would be at least 50% more main quest and another 3 or 4 side quest this would be a clear 10/10 for me.

got the game initially after i played bastion. tried it out but stopped playing pretty fast and moved on but couldn’t really remember why. then i went completely down the hades rabbit hole for over 300 hours and thought, "hey you still have that other game made by them, perhaps try it out again". so I did. and the art work, music and seemingly also the story are great. but the combat is just not for me. the "turn feature" is an interesting concept, but doesn’t change that the combat feels clunky and complicated, at least when you compare it to bastion and hades. i’d rather have either a strategic or the hack and slay approach, but for me this doesn’t really mix well, at least not the way they have done it here. which is really a shame, since i'm very curious where the story would take me, but the combat is just way too frustrating and confusing for me.

for me personally this was the most interesting way i have ever experienced a post-apocalyptic world story. especially the way you learn how the apocalypse came to happen. also big plus for there being a story mode so that even gamers with mediocre skills like me are able to finish this beautiful looking game and experience the story.

It’s a great puzzling game. my main problem with it was that while the story was quite interesting and well told, the climax this was building up to fell totally flat. well almost totally flat, but still far away from satisfying. still fun to play though.

The game is simply amazing. tough you have to be able to look past the, at times, very crude humour. which is as well a strength and also a weakness of this game. the only thing that bothered me, is that towards the end I encountered bugs that had me searching the web for quite some time, to be able to continue. so if you encounter infinite loading screens try if going offline with your switch helps.

Picross Lord of the Nazarick8

really liked it. playwise I couldn't see much differences from the "normal" picross games. except random pictures you get to solve for pictures related to the anime and you get to be told a bit of the story of the anime every time you finish a section. made me curious enough to watch it and surprisingly liked it far more than I expected. which in turn made the game more fun to play.

It's ok if you like the presentation to be a detective game similar to the phoenix wright franchise with picross puzzles thrown in I guess it's fine... but if you mainly want to play picross all the dialog and navigating and searching where the next puzzle is becomes quite annoying pretty fast. If you want a story attached to your picross puzzling, picross lord of nazarick handles this way better in my opinion. just puzzling away with a bit of story every few successful solved puzzles. Also the story here doesn't seem to over that much anyway, so not that great of a reason to play this either. the only real upside I have here for me is that I like the art style very much.
