Fantastic action RPG in the vein of the Fallout series. I have sunk hours into the game already and barely scratched the surface. Giving a 10 as it had so many kinks to iron out originally, but the patches have addressed almost all of these and the PS5 upgrade was FREE too

Fantastic action RPG in the vein of the Fallout series. I have sunk hours into the game already and barely scratched the surface. Not a 10 as it still has kinks to iron out, but the patches have addressed a number of these already. The Stadia experience has been pretty good so far, a few crashes early on but otherwise Smooth.

I don't get what everyone is saying about the 30 fps. Is this an AMD thing? I started up the game and it pointed to the latest nvidia driver. After installing that i did the PC performance test and was getting between 75 and 28 frames averaging about 45-50 on an old gtx770. Admittedly this was while it was still on low settings but it was at 1080p. At 720p i was getting similar results with normal to high settings. Never saw anything locking it to 30 fps. It even hit well over 30 fps average with v sync on... I will reserve judgement on the game until i have played more but in terms of the actual GAME it seems to follow the same fantastic formula of the previous games in the series. The fighting and exploring are as good as ever, not had experience with the batmobile but if it is anything like gta or saints row then I'll be happy. Overall if you like the other games in the sites you will like this BUT the launch has been marred by poor performance. Even without the 30fps issue i think a gtx770 should produce better results, i have 12gb ram and 2 x quad Xeon processors at 3ghz so I'm comfortably in the recommended system requirements! However it will probably be fixed quickly with an update based on the poor responses all over the Internets. Then it will be an 8 or 9 game at least.

Emergency Heroes7

Had to leave a quick review for this game based on recent experience. It is definitely aimed at the younger generation so should be judged as such. I (age 30+(!) played this over Easter with my Nephew (age 6) and we both loved it. While my usual gaming comes from the likes of Metal Gear, God of War, Halo and Resident Evil etc. I started gaming in the 80's so am also coming at this from a retro gaming perspective. It plays like a mix of Burnout Paradise for kids with lots of influence from Chase HQ and maybe some Roadblasters too. The voice acting is passable and comes across like a Saturday morning cartoon. The vehicles are chunky and nicely designed, they even have some variation in the handling rather than an arbitrary visual upgrade to the vehicle, so you do feel like you are progressing and 'levelling up'. Sure its a bit repetitive (have you played chase HQ??) its a bit easy and the handling is like steering an RC rather than a high powered emergency vehicle, but you know what? We BOTH had great fun playing it. I got it cheap (Wouldn't have been worth full price) but can be picked up sub £5 ($5) now and I can definitely recommend it at that price, or as a rental, to have some good fun with the younger member of the family (as it also has some multi-player modes which are fun, even if just for a quick 10 minute blast.

Aliens vs. Predator8

I am halfway through this game and so far have to say it has been very entertaining. I must point out I got it for a lot less than the original retail cost, but as it can be picked up cheap now I have based my score on it being a 'budget' title. The three campaigns all play differently and are authentic, closely matching the look and feel of the source material. the visuals are not triple A but they do the job and in some places really shine, especially as the predator during finishing moves and cloaking. Once you get the hang of the play styles you can really feel for each character and the game can be very tense or empowering, depending on who you are playing as. The single player campaigns are quite short and can be completed in a few hours each but there are three of them and different levels of difficulty and collectibles to add some longevity. I can recommend this if you are a fan of the films or even more so if you liked the original PC or jaguar games as this does play like an old school shooter at times, which isn't really a bad thing!
