Contagion (2011) is truly scarier than many horror movies, especially now!!!!!

This movie was written by two people and it was still a predictable mess... I also wasn't a huge fan of how this was directed/edited/whatever, it felt a little choppy and like scenes got cut off too early sometimes. However, I loved Tessa Thompson, Chris Hemsworth, Rebecca Ferguson and Kumail Nanjiani.

I think the story in this was interesting and made for a decent enough adventure, but I did almost fall asleep halfway through and that is never a good sign for an action movie...

I had a lot of fun watching this. I can see why this gets bad reviews, this wasn't by any means a great movie, but I think that's the charm of it. I also have to note that I thought the cinematography was gorgeous (the purple lighting that was in a lot of scenes; stunning!!!) and that I loved the score and seeing Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale on screen together.

I adored this. I was hooked right from the start; I really loved the themes of self discovery and fearing change and letting go of your loved ones and, well, the unknown. The animations were beautiful, they really did a lovely job adding more elements to change things up from just the ice from the first Frozen. The fire spirit salamander was a great little addition and everything Olaf said and did made me laugh. I can see why the kids I teach obsess over these movies and now that I've finally seen this second part, I wish I had gone to see this in the theaters when it played!

Finally a good slasher movie from the 2010s!! I'm enjoying the rise of this genre that's like, escape room slasher? Now I'm reminded of Saw, so maybe it's more a comeback of sorts... Either way, it's been a bit hit (Escape Room) or miss (Blood Fest, Hell Fest) for me personally, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this one! There's still shallow characters and terrible dialogue, but at least in this movie the final girl has a good backstory, the scares are built up very well, the sets are incredible and the gore is great! Definitely worth a watch if you like horror and/or slasher movies!

Yes, I watched a Christmas movie in February... Pretty original take on this genre! This had some good gore and expectation subversion, but despite it's 1h28m runtime felt a bit dragged out.

I guess this just wasn't really for me? Plot felt a little repetitive in a way and I just didn't really like it. I did love the cast, though! I loved Julia Fox, Idina Menzel was great and Adam Sandler was the best I've ever seen him!! I also really liked the ending, definitely didn't see that one coming, but yeah... I feel a bit mixed!

It took a while to really get going, but when it did it was fantastic. Visually it's beautiful, with a lot of vibrant colours, great directing / cinematography, awesome fight scenes (thank you R-rating) and some cool, unexpected animation, but it was also pretty well written and so funny. Everyone shines in their role, from the fabulous Margot Robbie to the almost unrecognizable Chris Messina (I had to do like, three takes to make sure it was actually him). It's not the gimmick-y, girl group!!!!!! movie that I was expecting, and that probably made me enjoy it even more. Loved this!

As someone who isn't big on war movies, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this, and now, after I've seen it I'm still not too sure. There's a lot to like. Visually it's stunning, with the directing and cinematography (the Écoust scenes were my favourite part of the film); I also really liked the brotherhood between the soldiers that drove the story. The story as a whole, however, felt a bit flat to me and I feel like the ending was missing...something. Again, mixed emotions, but, without a doubt, worth the trip to the cinema.

Taylor Swift being so open and vulnerable despite everything she's been through, standing with her head high, fighting for the things and people she believes in while practicing her craft so masterfully and fully dedicated... She's one of a kind. She's it. I'm so happy I get to grow up with her, that I get to be alive at the same time as her. I cried throughout the whole thing, and it was wonderful.

I expected that the end of this movie would make me feel some sort of relief or sense of victory, but instead I just spent 15 minutes crying in my parked car thinking about women who face/have faced sexual harassment at work and have been forced into silence. I hope you can all be safe and I love you.
