With barely any survival horror elements, and a heavy focus on action, "Resident Evil 6" is an installment that forgets what made the franchise great to begin with. However, its intriguing plot and interwoven campaigns lean in its favor.

With a return to its roots, "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" amps up the tension, fear, and isolation that's been absent in recent installments. The switch from a third person to a first person perspective immerses the player in its environments, and the story being told. With limited inventory making a return, item management becomes a key factor as the game progresses and more items become available for the player to obtain. A new protagonist, who has no experience with the kinds of situations he's placed in, and who also lacks any sort of special training like our regular heroes, brings about heavy feelings of vulnerability as he's pitted against the sadistic Baker family. The plot and progression is well paced, and in the end, is able to connect with the overall narrative of the franchise. "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is a definite masterpiece, and one worth experiencing.
