Being a fan of original "Vietnam" it is difficult not to like this addition. Yes, some very good maps were not remade to the new engine. But still this DLC has updated versions of maps that not only give that nostalgic feeling but also provide tens of hours of unforgettable gameplay. Additions to the maps and extra weapons are well balanced. Vehicles control is smooth and lets a constant player of 'Bad Company 2' or a 'Vietnam' veteran get into a game without difficulty. A hope for another such addition to Vietnam period on a newer engine never leaves my heart. And if it happens, my wallet will support EA again!

Well, since there are lots of negative reviews already I have to add some positive things that I noticed. During presentations I wasn't stunned by the level of graphics, so I didn't expect much. The visual part will not make a gamer happy who has spent time playing Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2. But yet it gave enough detalisation so you could imagine yourself being away on a deserted planet. Face animations have no 'life', still I don't think it's a big problem. Sound effects is important part for a game in a universe of Aliens. It seems that music and sound is not what is usually discussed in reviews, but when these elements are done badly you can't miss such flaws. Using rifles made me want to skip all shooting sections. It is sound that ruined 'feeling' of a weapon. Too bad, because the design of weapons was not that bad. The design of levels is poor, 4 gamers on a level would feel lack of space. Despite the fact that it usually took me around 20-30 minutes to complete a level, everything that you keep in mind after completing one was running, shooting, running, loading. There was only one time when I was in a team of 4 players. Thing is that I started playing two weeks after the game's release date. By that time everyone stopped playing the game. Absence of server browser made me watch searching for other players for tenth of minutes before I had to go into singleplayer journey. The worst thing that made me angry was the storyline. Idea of connecting characters from original 'Aliens' movie with the ones in the game was horrible and had no logic. But I have to say that the competitive multiplayer was good. Maps and different classes is the strongest part of the game. It is far away from the gameplay that we have in 'Left 4 Dead', but it is worth playing. I'm sorry for those who bought season's pass in advance for the game that disapoints starting from the menu. Finally I have to say, that expectations for the game were too high and I'm 100% sure that the year's biggest fail has already arrived.

"Battlefield 2142" was a solid addition to the great sequel. New weapons and transport, what would a battlefield fan want more? Unfortunately this was not enough to keep players into the game. One evening of fun left positive feelings, but next day my friends and I jumped back into "Battlefield 2" and never run '2142' again.

"Battlefield 2" was one of the reasons I had my PC upgraded for (I don't remember exactly)th time :) It took much time for "Call of Duty" creators to bring players to the modern action, but EA decided to let us use modern weapons much earlier. First big sequel to the popular series brought us large maps, various class types and tons of fun time. I have to say that in "Battlefield 2" I was never a big fan of vehicles. Somehow they seemed I bit sluggish so mostly I enjoyed combat on foot, which allowed me to use at my best my favourite class medic. Defibrillator unit was firstly introduced to the game and significantly changed gameplay. Having a medic nearby would allow more heroic actions than you had previously let yourself to perform. Assault class was my second favourite one, although my friends often gave preference to engineers. Having one right behind your tank would make you almost unstoppable force. Playing as a sniper was difficult for me, because I never understood a sniper rifle that did not kill an enemy with a single shot. A new feature that was introduced but never appreciated, by me at least, was artillery fire, that was often used as bombing of the point at the moment when it was captured by an enemy. To give more balance against heavy vehicles new rocket launchers were introduced, that were statically set at some places and allowed firing missiles. "Battlefield 2" also had AI partners that could make you a company. Having AI in opposite team often made playing a nightmare as making headshots with a pistol from unbelievable distance was not a big deal for them. Weapon's kickback was not a big deal to get used to, but somehow I consider it a problem, because this way you can't 'feel' weapons. Anyway, everything that was not appreciated by me doesn't make the game any worse, so at the moment of release, eight long years ago I would recommend it to any player who liked shooters.

"Secret Weapons of WWII" is the DLC for the original Battlefield that I never bought after a little disappointment in "Road to Rome". But I spent tens of hours playing it with my friends in computer clubs :) "Secret Weapons" let the developers to explore some new type of gameplay with well known game. Unique weapons and well designed maps was a very good and not serious addition to the game. Type of DLC that you would never regret buying.

More than ten years ago holding a disc box I remember thinking, that it was the first WWII first person shooter that gave opportunity to drive a car and a vehicle, allowing to enter them at any time. That was more than enough to play the game that I had never heard of. But then another picture took my attention a plane that was controlled by a player. "Is this a joke?" I thought, could there be really a game that allowed even flying? Oh, yes! "Battlefield 1942" gave multiplayer only experience that left so much unforgettable fun. There is no doubt that EA set such a high level of quality with this game that even now is difficult for many companies to achieve. Huge maps, much tactics, various combat allowed me to enjoy so many situations that rarely appear in singleplayer campaigns. Combat system was very different comparing to "Medal of Honor" and "Counter-Strike". But it was easy to get used to. There were some class types but somehow I remember that usually everyone played with bazooka, because entering a vehicle was the first thing each of my friends tried to do. Basically "Battlefield 1942" game system is all about capturing and holding points. At that time it was not an original regime, but with transport it seemed liked just something completely new and unique. Main theme of the game is still one of the best scores that were written for a game. I also have to say that there were some very successful modes that added not only extra maps but transport and weapons too. Ten out of ten for the game that took us to battles that no other gamer had been before.

After years of waiting a new game in AvP universe was released and there had been a reason to expect this game, because it was developed by the team that years earlier had given us first AvP for PC. Commonly to the other games in the series singleplayer campaign is divided into three separate parts. Each one gives unique gameplay and original story. The game provides us with much gore and very good animations that make you want to get more into the game (the one I remember most is alien holding a marine so that facehugger could jump on his face). Storyline provides us with some new stuff that had never been shown in either movies or games. At release date the game looked very good, sound effects were true to the genre. I never tried multiplayer, so after completing singleplayer part there was nothing else for me. Unfortunately, singleplayer left nothing that could make a solid game worth replaying. "Aliens vs. Predator" is not original in any way, but somehow I would recommend it to anyone who likes games and AvP universe. If you don't expect much originality, you will not be disapointed.

When a studio that has nothing to do with original game's success desperately tries to expand a universe, such bad games as "Primal Hunt" happen. This expansion in any way can't be called a good pack. AVP 2 by Monolith was a perfect game that introduced various original scenarios that years since walkthrough leave good memories. Thing I do remember about "Primal Hunt" is that it was extremely short (only 3 levels for each species), boring and not original. Yes, there could be some more story told about events that took place in AVP 2, but this pack does not achieve this goal.

A game is not a bottle of wine, and with time it does not get better. Sometimes it takes only a year or two to say, that a game is not appropriate for this time. Having read many reviews about "Beyond Good & Evil" and having watched trailers for its sequel I was eager to play this classic. The version that I played was HD remake that was released in PSN for PS3. After playing for an hour I realized, that I had a feeling of my time being wasted, because I just could not get into the game. Don't get me wrong, I watched much videos and read discussions that claimed, that the fans of the original were happy with remake. But after playing dozens of games that were released for the last TEN years (yeah, that's how much time had passed since the game's release date) it is difficult to appreciate any aspect of the game. "Beyond Good & Evil" has good story, nice characters, various gameplay, but it is history now. History that I missed ten years ago and can't enjoy nowadays.

After so many years since game's release it is difficult to remember all the details of the game that was a must play product for me back then. I doubt there is a gamer in our world who has not seen "Aliens" and "Predator" and who never dreamed **** that would give an opportunity to play against such good antagonists as creatures in these two films. When I finally put my hands on the game I was a beginner in PC gaming, but even then I was surprised by details of game world. Visual graphics amazed my young and inexperienced brain, sound made me believe I was in the world that many whom dreamed to be in for years. The storyline is divided into three separate lines, each gives an opportunity to play as either alien, predator or marine. Predator was the first one I wanted to explore. First level that started on the rock and gave opportunity of shooting marines right from the start stuck into my mind for couple of reasons. First one is that checking through everything that could be done with predator totally amazed me and I was sure, that all gadgets from original movies were not forgotten. Second one was that I was killed so many times that restarting the level on the same rock led me to frustration. Level three was maximum that I could manage while playing as a predator. My second storyline was alien's. What surprised me at start was the huge difference in gameplay. Not only everything looked different with the eyes of alien, but also you had to think different to play as one. Unfortunately, level one was maximum I could achieve, because evil AI and ventilation system killed me all the time :) Playing as marine gave that classic feeling that everyone had during watching original "Aliens". This was the place where game achieved what gamers definitely wanted. But yet again couple of levels was enough of me, although I tried my best at that time I never managed to go any further. Lack of solid storyline made playing only a possibility to meet and play as creatures, but not to enjoy the game at full hand. But what kept me from completing the game was the absense of possibility to save the game at any possible time. Yes, we could start playing if we died at level beginning, but anyway it was really difficult. Years have past when I was told that a patch was released to the game, that allowed to save during the mission. AVP was installed instantly and the game was patched. Unfortunately graphics that was too old by that time didn't allow me to enjoy the game anyhow. Also I felt that level design was far away from good, playing as an alien often led you to getting lost on a level. Anyway I don't think that the game is bad. It deliveres much that we wanted, but what would satisfy everyone reached us in AVP 2.

"Batman: Arkham City" is the absolute masterpiece to me, there is no denial, that it was the game of the year. What I wanted for it was story DLC content that could extend the main story. Unfortunately there was none for "Arkham Asylum", but "City" made gamers happy with free DLC of Catwoman episodes, that gave us more story and perfect character to play, and "Harley Quinn's Revenge". "Revenge" takes place after main story of the "City" is finished. Batman is trapped and Harley is seeking revenge. You are to play as Robin, who has different moves and other gadgets. It is easy to get familiar with combat, because mechanics was not changed a bit. I have to say, that after completing the main game I desired for more story and DLC gave it to me. From two to three hours of solid gameplay gives enough nostalgie to understand that the Batman world is one of the best we have in our time. Unfortunately, there is not much to add, because content was not something that could keep you playing for long hours or significantly improved the game. Don't get me wrong, I liked "Revenge" much. I was happy to play as Robin, hear more laughs from Harley and get into Gotham again, but I know there could be a little bit more

When I remember my feelings about the game coming in Batman universe I must say that I never had much hope. Too many games that used license for popular comics series wasted their chance of satisfying gamers. The time of playing came to me when I had no other games to play (in rarely but happens). By that time "Arkham Asylum" already had received many awards and I had realized, that the game could not be as bad as any typical comics game. The opening sequence shocked me in a good sense when I saw stunning graphics and hilarious acting of main characters. It took not much to get into action that amazed me by its dynamics, performance and comfortable gameplay. It was very easy to get into Batman's world thanks to perfect control settings (I still can't imagine this game being played without gamepad). What still amazes me is the fact that new gameplay features were gradually added with each new stage. We've just started with fighting sequence and when you are about to get used to it detective mode is introduced. As soon as you realize its power, stealth stages are introduced. When it seems that there is not much space for you, open environment gives Batman flying practising and different approach for taking out enemies. Eidos knew what and just how much a gamer wanted and "Arkham Asylum" provides you with it. Each fight looks terrific, camera always finds appropriate angle to show the best view for another kick out. New weapons introduced, different types of stage walkthrough (that sometimes feels like completely open world) and amazing story (that even without excellence of other game's element would make a good game) just won't let you down for a minute. "Arkham Asylum" also has plenty of little side quests (Riddler's puzzles) that will keep you in game for hours. These puzzles feel like a new kind of challenge that are well rewarded. But as many games, "Batman: Arkham Asylum" has its own problem, and I have to say, the only one I can remember. It is the marker. I have to say that it was easy for me to get lost. Puzzlement came when I knew that locations around were cleaned and marker did not show exactly where I was supposed to go. A friend of mine, who receieved a copy of the game from me on his birthday, complained about this very issue. Getting lost made him quit playing the game till the time he's out of other games (although he's absolutely positive, that the game is worth playing). Also, it seems that I.. **** at fighting games and slashers. It's definitely not a game's problem, but totally mine, but I had to switch to easy level, because crowds of enemies beat my ass frequently. And yet easy difficulty left good memories of the game and normal was a challenge for me. Loosing a game and hearing Harley Quinn's "Looser, looser, looser, ha!" or Joker's taunting just made me want to play the game more that I actually never did because of "Arkham City" coming out and this damn marker

It's not a common issue for games to sincerely laugh because of game's humor, nor it is a common issue to make a very good game on existing intellectual property that is loved for thirty years. Yet Telltale accomplished the mission. Not being a fan of quests, but being a fan of "Back to the Future" it was an honor for me to buy this game. I was very satisfied with the very first minutes of the game where each detail was put with love and care to the original movie trilogy. Yet story repeats itself in many ways, and having watched the movie dozen times you'll hear dialogs, that would never be original in a movie (if part 4 would ever be filmed), but for a game it seems like a miracle. Music, sound effects, voices of actors and finally the time of gangsters will make smile anyone who likes original three movies. Yes, some story lines leave questions, one can say that the game is not perfect. BUT! It seams, that Telltale made the final appearances of the actors that we love so much and whom we'll never see in a big blockbuster movie. For me, it seams that it is a goodbye kiss to Marty and Doc. I'm gonna miss you guys!

"Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood" is a sequel to "Assassin's Creed 2" and continues the story of Ezio. Game takes place mainly in Rome, that has much to discover and explore. There is not much of new comparing to the second game, but yet the game improves combat gameplay. Some fighting scenes were difficult, for some reason scene in Coliseum doesn't leave my mind. The game had much new stuff for multiplayer gamers. If you are not into online gaming, still you'll have much to do in singleplayer campaign. Story is not a strong side of "Assassin's Creed" (I'm not saying anything about AC III, it was terrific) and here I felt it again, boredom after first half of the game. After playing through "Brotherhood" you'll have a feeling, that it is just an addition to the game, too big for DLC, but not a standalone game. Yet, worth its money.

It is easy to fall in love with Italy and "Assassin's Creed 2". Comparing to the first game, sequel provides you with much action, interactive cutscenes, improved graphics that helps to get into Renaissance Italy more than I could imagine and helps to see more of the human side of game characters. Ezio, who is the protagonist in "Assassin's Creed 2", is believable character who will keep minds of gamers for couple of years in game's sequels. Combat was not a strong side of first game in my opinion, but it was improved this time. Game also provided dozen of new weapons and basics for improving cities, buying pictures and other stuff that I didn't find interesting. Also there was flying section in the game, that rarely but significantly added something fresh to the gameplay. Getting some action outside of animus was also a good addition. Chasing sequence was the thing that let me forget about some game's flaws. Unfortunatelly there were few. Two big episodes in the game were cut and later sold separately as DLC content. Although game's story was much better comparing to the original game, yet it was diffcult to follow and get everything that was happening. These two missing episodes just made me angry, because the next episode to follow was the final one. But the worst thing was that to start the final episode you had to visit main cities and collect feathers that were shown on the minimap. Ok, what a hell? I have no idea, whose "bright" idea that was but I felt like I was wasting time and not having fun. So I decided just to watch the walkthrough of missing episodes and the final chapter on youtube. Yet I must say, that all changes made the game better. Yes, it was not perfect, and having played half of the game it was easy to get bored of the story but yet it was better than the original game, and main improvements were soon to come in the following sequels.

"Assassin's Creed" is a great game in many ways. It has great world, good characters, many unique possibilities, original plot and outstanding graphics that for some time was considered the best on a console for me. Loving "Prince of Persia" series was a bit difficult to get into Assassin's world, although it is not a problem for me, first impression was that these games were alike. As any open world game "Assassin" had his problems. From time to time AI was really dumb, getting into fight meant wasting time and not getting experience, usually combat was bringing you into defense position and striking from time to time (this moment was redisegned in second game). Later on it was difficult not to get bored with story and gameplay. Also there were some serious bugs and designer's flaws, like sometimes enemies could hit you during a cutscene, mark on a minimap did not give enough information about the place you need to get to (spend much time realizing it was above me), destination spot could be a big mark on a map with entrance difficult to find (got stuck on my first walkthrough on PC and decided not to finish the game, replaying it on XBOX two years later I got stuck there again and had to watch walkthrough on youtube). One of the final battles, where you have to deal with many knights, was way too difficult. Most of side quests, that had no story, repeated themselfes. "Assassin's Creed" is a good game, that may keep you entertained only during first 3-4 hours of the game and make you bored the rest of time, wanting to see credits rolling on your screen. Don't get me wrong, Ubisoft did well starting great series, but the most polished game in "Assassin's Creed" saga would be released years later.

You may complete the game with one finger. Level might be completed with one single tap on a touch screen. Simplicity is the game's main feature. As soon as the first level is accomplished, you'll want more, and after hours of playing you'll think for the tenth time: "what a hell? just one more level".. Yeah, some might say that the game is not original, that it was a clone etc. But it is a mix of gameplay, simplicity, humor, visual design and music that made it a hit. "Where is the next Half-life" question still makes gamers nervous, but back then it seemed like a big joke to release a game that nobody was expecting. Yet Valve never disappointed me, this time was not an exclusion. "Alien Swarm" is 3rd person action shooter that may be called a clone of "Alien Breed". Frankly speaking, I would never pick up a game like that if it was not a product of such company as Valve. But it would worth any dollar. All levels of the game could be completed in less than an hour. But co-op experience and dynamic generating of alien hordes make each try a unique experience. Smart achievements, all of them I managed to unlock, added some more sense in replaying "Alien Swarm" The fact that the game is free of charge, makes me love it even more Needless to say, after release there were couple updates and that was all. The game was not supported any further by Valve, even developers never remembered it in any interview (it seems, everybody's mind is kept on HL, CS, TF, L4D and Portal). The story of original game was a line of six episodes that kept you wandering of what was going to happen next. Following the story were two episodes of DLC and "Alan Wake's American Nightmare". These were not as good as was expected by many. Both DLC added Alan's travelling in his nightmares, that basically did not add anything to the original story. So if you missed them, you would still know everything from the main storyline. But both DLC and "American Nightmare" added much of action moments, that could keep you enjoying the world of Alan. Regarding the plot of "Alan Wake's American Nightmare" there is not much to say. The game itself is a horror action. If you enjoyed action sequence in original "Alan Wake" then you should probably try "Nightmare". I was one of those who enjoyed action but was bored of storyline in "Nightmare". It seems that it was supposed to be three times shorter (if you played through, you know what I mean). You should not think that "American Nightmare" is an original game, think of it as of a big piece of DLC. Anyway, I would recommend it to fans and to those who liked Alan's gameplay, because not only new weapons might be used, but also a new horde mode can be played. It requires staying alive for specific time on a map (till dawn to be exact), meanwhile you are attack by enemies. Horde mode is not an original thing nowadays, but in "Alan Wake's American Nightmare" it was better than in many other games you know.

Being a fan of Stephen King and liking Twin Peaks it is easy to fall in love in the story of Alan Wake. Not only you get fun of reading another page of manuscript, listening to another radio show or watching episode on TV, but also you are taken by gameplay that is one of the most comfortable on XBOX360. That is one of the games that makes you think that you will replay it again long before the ending. I managed to complete all the achievements and played through the games three times.
