I would like to sepnd 5 mins to write this review because i see this game did not have for some reason many critic reviews, only some user. This game is a turn based strategy game with rpg elements done right. The art style in quite poor and getting involved requires a little of time cause its needed the willing to read a bit the perks and understand how the various units works together, but honestly the game is very solid and deserve a try from anyone who likes the turn based genre. this game reminds me mostly to Space Crusade on Amiga (1992), Laser squad and Incubation (incubation is still a bit better overall), over other titles, as mechanics and setting. The setting is inspired by the Warhammer 40k universe, those units are basically space marines with very similar gear and also very similar squad logic. There are a good number of different units with their traits and perks to level up, some of them are to unlock during the campaign. Those units have unique abilities and in most levels you are free to choose your starting team according to your playstyle and also according to the needs of the mission (ofc some units may be most interesting to use in some specific situations). During missions usually its possiible after capturing some special buildings, to call in the mission more units, choosing from your team pool Those units are called in spedning points earned by killings aliens, which usually requires a bit of planning to choose the right units you really need and also decide how many points you want to invest cause there is to wait some times to recuit many units with this system. im playing the game as normal difficulty and i find it quite balanced, mostly ending missions with bonuses and without any casualty, anyway the sense of satisfaction in here so its quite balanced to my taste. Incubation is a bit harder (the expansion a lot harder) and also a bit more involving and rewarding in my opinion, it requires more thinking and more chess-style playing then this one. Anyway Actually i guess i did like 15 missionso or such, and i can surely tell that this game is a lot better then many others turn based strategy games i played in the last years. I played recently some other games maybe more cool with the art style and story, and maybe a bit overhyped, but defo very cheap as strategy involved and without the right complexity i want in those games to be really interesting. this one instead has what it takes to be very well done where it counts, as turn based strategy game is really nice. Still a bit more contemporary art style and effects could be welecome, even if ofc its less important then the gameplay itself. I hope in a future release.

Wings! Remastered Edition8
Oct 24, 2014
Here there is to consider that the game is a remastered edition of a Commodore Amiga classic, and also its to consider the price, back in the days this game was really a great game, very fun and addictive, with a lot of attention to details and a great 3d engine. The new engine is quite good and the game is still very enjoyable nowadays, sadly its nothing revolutionary anyway, the overall quality of the release is in line with the price. The game is still very fun and addictive as gameplay, it requires skill going on, it gives a lot of satisfaction, but it lacks variety, as it was in the original. Honestly i would have preferred a triple A quality engine/grahics/effects with a co-op/multiplayer possibility paying a full price tag, but thats it, the game is good anyway even if it looks quite dated for 2014 standards. If you are new to this game i suggest to check some video on youtube, if you played the original i think it worth the price.

Far Cry 35
Dec 4, 2012
Far Cry 2 was a promising sandbox but it was boring after a little, not a bad game, but nothing exceptional. Far Cry 3 is... exactly the same, just bigger and more cod-generation oriented. Devs decided that to improve the game the right path was adding long and unskippable cinematics and Tarantino's style npcs, basically following the trend of any recent fps, it seems they all want to make movies nowadays.. It was not a bad idea itself, but the exectuion is poor, the story is brainless linear garbage, there is an island, some npcs helping you without any reason, bad guys got red t-shirts, good guys got blue t-shirts, you are a student with no military background who suddenly starts going around with rocket launchers and assault rifles doing rambo, killing dozens of "pirates", primary following a linear main quest arc, helping villagers following mostly terrible side quests, also its really bad imo the fact in this game you basically got unlimited ammo and weapons as there is a dealer every village and you can teleport there in any moment. The game mechanic is uber repetitive as side quests and activities, and also its really ruined by the fact this game is made to be played with a joypad. Beside the forgettable main quest plot, there are side quests which are all forgettable too, worse if possible then the main quest, usually excessive dramatic illogic situations, then every time the player conquer a camp there are more quests which are always the same 3, one hunting quest, one assassination quest, , and a driving quest (driving is terrible in this game btw), all three quests are very boring and after one day i started to skip them except the hunting which is needed for the in game crafting system so they are a must. This game is similar to Dead Island as kind of sandbox game, great presentation, tedious and repetitive gameplay with tons of issues and illogic and poor devs choices. The rpg side of the game is not interesting, the abilities you can unlock will be all unlocked going on so there is no sense of developing a specific trait and character. This game offers unlimited ammo and weapons as you can fast travel to any camp at any moment and refill with everything, there is no option to change this in game and imo it ruins a lot the basic idea of the plot where the player should be a desperate survivor moving into a dangerous territory. The game is also badly ruined by the fact its developed as a console game, it happens quite often but this game is terrible cause this aspect, so its not only the fact its developed with console menu style, but its really developed to be played with a joypad, to a point where playing with keyboard + mouse is a problem, keybinding is not enough customizable, especially the special abilities are impossible to keybind after the first 2, at least using the menu, didnt check if there is an ini to tweak but comon its 2012. The inventory and menu system is by far the worse ever seen in gaming hystor, selling and buying stuff is terrible, and overall the menu system is absurd. The mouse movement is not totally smooth, tryed with razer and logitech gaming mouses, basically it feels a bit unresponsive compared to any good fps, and it lags badly while in the menus. Another great problem is the checkpoint save system, who invented this terrible mechanic should be banned from gaming developing. If a console user may be used to this system due to old time console limitations, for a pc player this is something out of any logic, if it happens you need to shut down the pc for any reason in most occasions you will have to see again a long brainless cinematic and redo all the mission from the start, for me its a big issue. Graphically its sub-par surely cause the console limits actually are impressive compared to what can do a new pc, I guess Crysis one looks better then this, anyway its not my main concern. At the end i find mostly this game irritating me cause the console style menu/inventory and game mechanics developing, anyway even if all those issue would be solved the game is still boring itself and doesnt have the quality that professional reviewers are trying to sell us.

Resonance (2012)8
Nov 22, 2012
This game is great overall, even if a bit short, i guess its better quality over quantity anyway so im not lowering the score cause that. Its an old school point-click adventure with a very solid and interesting story, cool characters, nice dialogues, an interesting interactive and inventory system (still a bit clunky in some occasions), and well... overall i recommend any gamer interested in those adventures to pick this one, anyway i feel to point out also that the game has some flaws. The most annoying aspect is about the music, that in most occasions is 20 seconds (terrible) sample looping endlessly which cant be turned off if not switching off all the game sounds. Sometimes spending 15 mins in a room trying to figure out what to do with this music loop even out of sync at times gets me mad and made me switch off the sound. Another aspect which can be personal taste, is the fact imo the game is a bit too much hardcore at times in therm of illogic things to do or try/error situations. Overall compared to the real old adventures average difficulty, like Lucas ones, this one is a bit more accessible luckily, but in some occasions its defo frustrating. In most occasions it will be logic how to go on, it will be cool and satisfying, puzzles and situations in general are rewarding without asking too much time and it will rarely be required the tedious try-to-combine-random-things-hoping-it works that was a bit too much standard especially back in the 80's and early 90's... Still there are 3-4 situations where its really hard if not impossible to figure out how to go on in this game and i think this aspect should have been lifted a bit, as beside it was quite normal back in the days to be stuck in those kind of games, still i feel actually this aspect of hardcore try/error-pixelhunt is no more fun/satisfying as gameplay. Sometimes it happens to figure out that you are trying to do the right thing but the game doesnt allow you yet cause you need first to talk to npc A or show item X to person Y to make the action you wanna do possible. Anyway its my personal opinion, this game as old/school point and click adventure is really cool including the plus and minus that were present usually in those kind of games, just i personally think that it could be more modern and appealing to have a game like this not easier to complete in therm of puzzles, but more logic with less try/error hard steps, as its very satisfying to go on in those kind of games on alone, but the need to read a guide to pass some specific points strip away a bit of fun.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown7
Oct 17, 2012
I have to lower my score , after the first playthrough i gave a 9, but actually im going to finish my second and sadly the game is loosing a lot of appeal. The problem primary is that what you can research and develop is not enough and various to make any difference between different games, basically you will end doing exactly the same things, researching the same things, and exectuing all the same steps every game you will wanna play. Also, even if the maps are not few, its quite easy to predict enemy spawn. Anothe note not positive is that i think the game is really too short, and you are foced also to speed up cause the panic pressure. Basically i still think that this game is very good (on its own, even if different from the old xcoms), but its lacking longevity and relplay value to be really a masterpiece. ----------------------------------------------------- To all the ppl GIVING LOW SCORES cause chance to hit / cover system bugs, READ THIS first. At start i was thinking too that the game had terrible bugs related LOS and targeting, but i was wrong, surely it doesnt help the fact the ruleset is not explained in the manual nor on firaxis site. Fact is this game is more similar to chess then to previous x-com games as idea. To be short about that, this game is based on a strict and working ruleset similar to a board game, hitting is absolutely not related to the point to point projectile trajectory " LOS" that is visible looking the position of the soliders Consider that what you see in 3D as idea is a fictional representation of the ruleset. The ruleset is very very simple and basic, and one understood its really a lot interesting and fun. In the game there is ACCURANCY which is set by default as 65, there are low covers (half shield icon) which gives +20% defence, hi covers (full shield icon) that gives +40% cover. There are modifiers which can be many things, specific traits, perks, elevation etc. The formula is CTH = accurancy - target defence +- modificators. So if there is shooter at a corner, target behind a 40 tons big truck with a half shiled icon position, the shooter can hit the target even if in 3D the bullet pass into the truck, as the rule means you can always hit soliders behind 20% or 40% covers. The only situation when when LOS is obstructed is, one full cover tile in between 2 other full cover tiles, or one single full cover tile strictly in line with the shooter. In the same manner is possible to flank one enemy, a covered enemy have a red alien icon as default, to avoid his cover having as result the yellow alien icon (which means target is out of cover) as ruleset you need to place your shooter past the imaginary orthogonal axis that is projected by the block giving the cover to the target. Im sorry if its not very clear maybe, im not english and im tryin the best i can. There are also specific rules to determine the cth and covers between shooter and target from different elevation zones (+20% hit being higher then target + modificators), and specific rules to determine how works the half covers and full covers in between, but not adjacent to the shooter and target we are considering. Basically this game is based on xcom as setting and basic mechanics, but its a lot different compared to most of the tbs as its absolutely not based to the LOS you can see on the screen to hit the targets, and guys this system works, its simple but very tactical. Told that this game imo is great, cause the target here i understood after some days of playing, its not to just adapt the old xcom with new graphics (which in case is something i expected too at start tbh), the target is its to have a new specific ruleset to possibly create a strategic E-sport. Hope that this one beside the review can help ppl to understand better the game as many bad scores are given cause a misunderstanding of how the game works. Collapse

Actually its 2012 im still playing this title from time to time, in the last years using always the awesome 1.13 mod. Ja2 is a tbs military game with rpg elements, side quests, exploration and more. I think that still its by far the best turn based strategy game ever made, and beside the fact its not perfect for sure, especially the AI is quite basic, anyway its a game that any player interested in strategy games should at least try.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria4
Sep 26, 2012
Im a wow player since classic, i got more than 300 days played on my main char. I played casual, i played hardcore, ive been a heavy raider in tbc, i raided more or less any content. I really enjoyed classic and tbc, ive found wotlk a so-so expansion, cata an immense letdown, and pandazz... i feel pandaz is just the right expansion to quit wow. The main problem is that Blizzard at a point decided that they were going for the masses, they decided they just wanted to focus on kids with easy content and uber power ranger armors, streamlined abilities, purple epazzz for anyone, and the dictat that every player must be special, making ofc everyone plain normal. I can understand that, game industry is business ofc, anyway they sadly ruined a great game. Leveling is plain stupid since wotlk, there is never a single challenge, its boring and it gives zero satisfaction. Everyone hate leveling in wow, Blizzard instead of makin it more challening and epic, they think that to make it more interesting it must be super fast and super easy.. damnz just stop with leveling maybe ? The idea that the game starts at end level and prior to that its just a boring rush, has been implemented by blizzard itself, thats crazy. Really i think there are not anymore gamers at blizzard developing games, there are economists in Blizzard developing games, this is the main problem. PvP in wow has always been not very balanced, uber geared ppl having fun in razing no geared ppl in bgs, world pvp has been completely murdered with fly mounts, and i cant get why Blizzard continued to allow pvp gear in pve and vice-versa which always created a lot of issues, especially pve players forced to play pvp to get specific rewards to go on easier in pve. The addition of fly mounts and million of portals since TBC ruined totally the sense of multiplayer ,as if you are out of the actual content zones or the main city, you will basically play alone and will not see any other player around. Actually in wow there is not anymore the feeling of doing something epic, any item/mount is rare just for 1 or 2 month at best, anyone can do anything with little or no effort. Maybe the player base wants that, a Kung Fu Panda toon nice and funny, nonsense pet nice and funny combat, new hairstyles, super huge shoulders, lore and quests funny and stupid, LFR to make every raid a cake, basically all things appealing for kids and console gamers. Wow can go on with this formula i guess even another 10 years maybe, but its not more wow, its just a dumbed down version of itself. Tbh i could write 20 pages of reasons why wow turned from a great game to a piece of garbage, but i stop here. I can say vanilla wow stays at civilization II like pandaz stays at farmville, Go Bli$$ard earn more cash! Adios WOW it has been fun.

After playin wow more or less 7 years i think tht GW2 is very very promising, i tried some others mmos in those years but didnt like any, except EVE online which is very good but another setting and kind of mmo. GW2 in my opinion is mostly based on PVP, the world vs world is very fun and the structured pvp is imo a lot better then wow, especially the fact its not gear based, its a lot more skill based. The PVE is a lot less structured then wow, there are no raids, and instances are more about kiting / controlling. Its needed to understand how to play it, positioning, pulling, and the weapons used are key factor to beat the instance in the right manner in exploration mode. There is no more tank/healer/dps trinity which is imo really a great idea, ofc it leads to a PVE totally different from wow based games. If you like to pass the time stayin back of a boss pulling out max dps this is not the mmo for you, you will die every 2 seconds doing that, ive seen in those starting days a lot of ppl used to other mmos not understanding that the game here is different, its needed to be on the move, use the right weapons, hide when needed, use los and help the team with traits/utility skills. The quest system is great, very fun and well made, compared to wow its a blast. In many occasions its possible to complete events with follow ups that carry you around a lot before finishing. Every zone have a world boss event and at least a hidden puzzle zone to be discovered. Most of the new ideas are lightyears further compared to wow, the AH is the best one ive seen in any mmo, and overall i think this game will be a winning one. Anyway its not the mmo for anyone, ppl who are interested in raiding or really like tanking/healing system will not find those activities and mechanics in GW2.

Duno, for me digging for ages and try to build up some scenery/house/level or what we wanna call it is boring, i like to play real lego or the meccano more tbh. Aug 6, 2012
Actually is 2012, i got this game from a Steam summer sale at like 2 euros, i was curious to check it without too many expectations. The game in my opinion is very good, it offers a gameplay heavily stealth based, at start controls and the slow gameplay are not very intuitive/modern in my opinion, but after some time the controls end to be just a matter of practice and the game is solid. The game is very slow peaced, and imo it lacks a bit of tactics and/or different things to do to keep the player interested in going on, in example i would loved to have the possibility to choose different gear and tools setup to start missions, and more ways to pass some situations. This game will not appeal surely the cod generation ppl (hoping they will return on consoles to save pc gamers from modern crapz), as stealth fps is very good, and easily found at very low prices. I didnt try the multiplayer and co op so i cant tell nothing about that, even if as idea seems interesting.

Got this game since release, and i played also previously Space Empires games. I liked and sill i like turn based games, space or not space related (read Laser Squad, X-COM, Jagged alliance, Master of Orion, Galactic Civ etc), and actually is 2012 and still i think this is the best space strategy game on the market. Its huge, there are impressive and very different AI, the customization is immense, research is very appealing and will end to have a great impact on the player empire as its not possible to research all in a single game, there are at least 3-4 must try mods. The only flaw sadly is the fact actually the turn based combat system could end to be a bit boring, especially if playing with a huge number of units, but still if you like turn based very solid strategy games this is really a must

Bought during Steam summer sales, so quite nice price, im not very disappointed, the game is playable, its overall well made, the concept is good, at least as idea. The main issue in my opinion is that the game is boring and most of the situations are completely stupid. Its a sandbox game like fallout 3 or skyrim, but it lacks story, interesting zones, interesting enemies, character developing, weapons, sense of progression.. basically it lacks everything except zombies. Quests are not interesting and usually it seems they are written randomly by someone who never played a game in his life. Character development is very streamlined and poor, also the game lacks really common sense, as in example you save an NPC and carry him into the safe zone, then he starts to sell weapons to you, like he could import weapons on a zombie island or even if in case of a zombie apocalypse ppl still use money to buy stuff each other to fight them... A good concept ruined by really stupid developer choices.

Great feeling over the game mechaincs, really great audio, still very appealing graphics, challenging AI, balanced but enough different factions. I personally think that Starcraft II offers a bit more depth to the players who wants a more competitive experience in multi and a better structured single player campaign, anyway thumbs up for this COH, imo second only to SC2, really a well made and fun RTS.

Tbh i dont understand much why those many good reviews and scores, the game is a tactical space rts, most of the old turn based tactical space games ive played are still much better, Space Empires IV , Masters of Orion II, Galactic Civ II, are by far superior then this one. Honestly i think that there is a misunderstanding, they wanna serve us real time as something modern and better then before, but sadly it means that the game must be very streamlined and limited to allow the player to manage all in real time. Also i have to tell that those 3D maps zoom in / zoom out /rotate all the time are nearly useless, 3 levels with a fixed air view were more then needed to play this game perfectly. I give a 5 cause the game overall isnt bad, just im a bit sad to see this game seems the "Cod generation" version of good tactical space games.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit3
Aug 6, 2012
Bought it recently at a super nice price, i expected an arcade just to have some fun, but tbh i really didnt expect a game **** like it is. I play with a wheel and cars handling is really unnatural, the feeling of driving a Pagani Zonda is the same as driving a Mitsubishi Lancer, and still it seems not realistic at all, not that i tried a Zonda... but c'mon. There is not much sense of speed, its too easy to drift, to recover, in most occasions its possible to drive the entire race without using brakes at all, just hand brake at full speed :P There are no options to raise a bit the difficulty or to make the game a bit more realistic. Damage system reminds me to OUTRUN the coin op, and also something incredible, there is no way to drive with manual shifting. Other issues are about the fact there is no logic in what you doing, why you are competing, and even if the idea of the Island and the free roaming is cool, i really miss championships or something to give some more sense then just beat the best track time. The unlock system is lame, the port is quite bad, no AA, no effects, it seems more an hard port. Cant really understand what kind of customer they designed the game for tbh.

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action3
Jul 31, 2012
Duno if they were out of money, out of time, or just out of skills, but this 2012 edition falls badly compared to the 1999 original one, also the ja2 got one of the biggest and most impressive mod out there (1.13, there are also some others very good btw) which makes the comparison even more bashing this new one. This Back in actions is half finished, its bugged, and mostly its ridded by terrible developer choices. The camera controls are awful, in some maps the point of view is so low that i was wondering if they ever tested it. The line of sight/cover system is full of bugs and also when it works it goes against common sense in many cases, like covering behind a tree results in having half los blocked by the tree itself. For some reason they stripped out half content which was in the original, there are less mercs, less traits, no training, no cars, no chopper, less npcs, less quests, and they changed the story in a manner that make no sense. To mention also the very sub par voice acting, which is instead superb in the original one.

Max Payne 32
Jul 16, 2012
This game is pure garbage. Tbh thats all, but i try to explain something. This is pretty much an interactive movie, you see 1 min of movie, then you got a 1 min shooting stage, if you pass it you go to the next movie and so on. If you die and need to redo a stage you will have to see again and again a short intro movie, and you cant skip it. Also, if you have to redo a session, the game will switch the weapon you are using with the standard pistol every time. Game is all on rails, you have zero freedom, its all heavily scripted, so there is absolutley no replayability, also the game is scripted in a manner that wanna be hollywood movie, so you must play rambo always, you cant choose to sneak or do something different. The game is a console port, as usual for Rockstar , not so bad as they did with gta IV, but still its not a good job, beside the graphic which imo is not so important, the problem is about mouse movement, which is for some reason clunky, it feels glued to the screen sometimes, very fast in game, very slow in the menus and super slow in bullet time... its quite bad and even tryin to change settings there is a bad feeling about it, any pc fps is 1000 times better. I can add also that the cover system plus the bullet time system adds a layer of gameplay wich is not really needed imo, and its not developed so good, max cant cover in many situations due to irregular surfaces, and / or cant detach so easily from some others. At the end i really hope that developers will return to develop games where GAMEPLAY is the core, not those kind of hollywood wannabe interactive movies. I give it a score of 2 cause the voice acting, the movie direction and photography are good, but as this is a game, i want a game not a movie.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution8
Jul 6, 2012
I bought this game recently at 7 euros, i waited to buy it cause i was curious but i was a bit scared it was just a cod generation moronic game, about that its a very streamlined version of deus ex, but its quite good luckily. The game is a stealth/action fps with rpg elements and a "blade runner" setting with a story that should be very interesting and full of twists(in some occasions the plot is not totally logic tbh), its quite different from the first deus ex tbh, it has a lot of potential but much is wasted by some elements not working perfectly, but overall its quite good, fun, and the gameplay is working if you like to play not too hardcore stealthy fps. I finished in less then 50 hours at normal level, never find a problem to go on. i tried to play mostly stealth, exploring all the zones and trying to find all side quests. I think i will replay it at max difficulty later on, but thr replay value is not high cause its full scripted and the story is always the same except some minor choices. I have to tell the game is very linear and the rpg elements are super basic, anyway the story is quite good, at least its better then most shi-fi movies out there. The side quests are a lot opinable, cause many of them are just things like "please my cat cant get down the tree, can you help it pls?", also its a bit sad that you cant change nothing of the story, except the different endings. Anyway i played and i enjoyed it but i think its not really a masterpiece, especially for the AI really lacking, and the fact its very very linear, also the inventory mechanic could have been a lot better. Actually is july 2012, 1 year after release, i didnt encounter a single bug or crash so i imagine many things were fixed in the past, also graphically, ive read many reviews complaining about that, to me seems quite fine honestly, maybe its not the best of the best, but its enough good imo. Music is good, even if a bit repetitive, translation and voice acting in my language is very good, even if the game lacks completey lip sync but nvm. At the end surely i think it was possible to have a far better game adding free roaming and bigger maps with more life in them, anyway i still think its a good one (considered i bought it at 7 euros, for a full price 50 euros i think i could give a 7 max).

Reading other reviews here i see that 90% of the haters here didnt play the game and/or moan about issues that arent in the game so be warned about that, the game is not that bad.
Told that, after 3 weeks i am progressing in inferno act 3 and there are 3 basic issues.
1) The game is not balanced at all, it goes from way too easy to so hard to get me nervous without offering any challenging and rewarding part. 2) its actually impossible to progress in group, cause again game balance issues, so its possible to co op faceroll content but you are forced to progress alone (patches will come but hey, its late sorry). 3) The hit detection is sever side and it counts from the start of the animation, so if a mob moves the sword to hit you and you move out before it lands the hit you still get the hit, this method is super **** and cant get really why its here, also considering that the game suffers a lot for bad ping, lag and stuttering. Blizzard is no more going for "its ready when its ready", but a more modern "we will go to patch all", as nowadays standards, patches over patches over patches.
Honestly i bought the game and i wanna play it now, if its ready after 6 months a next time we will pay after six months. those devs policies should be legally forbidden imo.
Imo Blizzard is no more here.

This LoG is overall good and im not against this idea of remakes, but its strongly overpriced in my opinion, actually i payed 14 dollars for this title.
Dungeon Master was massive, for the release time it was great under every aspect, it was 1 floppy disc on Amiga and i played it years before finishing it (without any guide).
This LoG does what its promised overall so its a good remake, but its very short, its possible to finish it in 20 hours or less and compared to today pc game standards devs cant pretend to ask so much money imho, so i give it a 6 cause im quite pleased about the game itself, but the price is out of any logic.

Battlefield 36
Feb 12, 2012
Im not talking about single player as ofc its just some kind of mini tutorial and nothing more, and its not a problem, Battlefield is multiplayer for me.
The game looks amazing and its overall what we were waiting for, but there is a real issue with the netcode, sadly no dev nowadays seems to understand that in a fps is more important the satisfaction of hitting ppl then the supa graphic effects.
Ofc in fast peace FPS games its normal sometimes some minor lag/netcode issue, but in BF2 this issue was a lot less present.
Basically it ends to be a bit random when you engage an enemy directly, who is gonna die, and also can happen to see the enemy with 100% hp even if on screen you see you are hitting more then once.
It can happen to shot 20 bullets into an enemy face and end killed one shot.
As i just said those issues cant be totally absent from an fps, but they should be rare while in this BF3 they are basically the normal gameplay.
This BF3 seems to me nearly the same as BFBC2 as netcode /latency normalization, but defo its a lot worse then BF2, where hitting someone was actually doing effective dmg 95% of times perfectly.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 26
Dec 3, 2011
This Vegas 2 is more or less the same as Vegas 1 with improved graphics (not so much btw).
Tbh it seems a bit a map pack more then a new game, prolly with this release the focus was all on multiplayer, as single player its quite flat corridor action based and really nothing more then first Vegas.
Still ultra scripted so there is zero replayability, and the tactical approach is present only when opening a door.
Cover system is still the same, not bad tbh, but in this release it seems to work a bit worse then in Vegas 1 prolly due to the fact there are more irregular objects around which can create some issues when trying to cover behind.
The main problem in my opinion is that devs wanted to do something for the mass, looking as COD serie as inspiration, so they decided to cut out most of the tactical approach which was the core of the first games in serie, but sadly this title cant stand any chance compared to BF or COD serie in multi, and lost his fans as tactical shooter, so actually it has really not a specific place on the market imo.
For a next time will be better to decide what kind of player please with the title, as this one fails a bit in every direction.
Giving a 6 cause the game is not bad at all, especially now its easy to find it at super low prices, just its Vegas 1 with enhanced multiplayer support.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 Gold Edition8
Dec 3, 2011
A lot more tactical fps then the more recent "Tom Clancy" titles, this game requires planning and turtle sneaking to be played.
You have to build up and equip your teams picking from a roster, each got a personal statistic sheet and no one excel in everything, loosing men in action will reduce the roster so preserving them alive will be very important, also they can be wounded meaning they will need some time to recover usually if wounded they cant join 1 next mission.
In theory its possible to plan in advance the path of the 3 teams building a quite complex order que using a map before going in action, then calling their movements real time during gameplay, tbh its a good idea but it doesn't work perfectly, so to play the game avoiding your AI teams to suicide, at the end it will be required to move every squad switching manually on each team real time, using them to reach and hold positions to cover the passage of your other teams.
At the end its quite hard to plan and execute a push into a room from multiple directions at the same time cause of this system, but at tbh its not necessary such a complex plan to complete the missions.
Surely not perfect about controlling other teams and missing the engine/better cover system of the newer titles, this one is anyway better talking about the gameplay, its ofc personal taste, but if interested in tactical fps single player games this one is interesting, especially now as its usually easy to find with all expansions at a nice price (just bought it at 1,50 euros).
To mention a decent replayability value of the single maps, as there is not a total random positioning at start as it is in titles like SWAT, but still the number and position of enemies may vary a bit so playing twice a map its not always exactly the same.

Fallout 39
Dec 1, 2011
Im writing this a bit late tbh, as ive played this game more or less 1 year ago, but now i decided im going to have a second playthrough heavily modded so im going to add a little review here too.
This game is not perfect, the engine is a bit disappointing compared to most of the "real" fps around, at least if not modded, as many objects have transparent parts only "painted" with alpha channels, this means if you try to shoot behind a fence you will discover the object is full solid and a bullet will never pass it, same can happen when hiding behind a rock, you fire aiming a mob and you will end hitting the rock instead... also without a mod the sniper rifle is useless for some reason it has less range then a normal rifle.
Anyway, beside those 2 aspects and not many more the game is really really good.
I liked a lot fallout 1 and 2 and i was a bit scared to find a title completely different going from isometric turn based strategy to a 3d fps game, anyway luckily the choices made by devs are quite good, basically there is a lot to explore, a very appealing (but short) main quest, a large number of more or less appealing side quests, some moments of fallout style humor, and a game that overall is really well made.
What i like more is the fact this game reach to preserve the original fallout concept and feels really a step forward.
The full DLCS are usually included in the package nowadays, all of them are quite crap compared to the game itself, anyway actually they can be considered something non mandatory you got with the game, so im not going to rate them here.
At the end i finished the first play after around 180 hours, and i didn't even explore all the map nor i fully played the dlcs except anchorage, so it can be a huge experience, and a good one.

Just bought it with a super nice price around 2 euros, this game is 5 years old now but i have to tell it looks quite good to be honest, and its overall good.
The game is between a stealth fps and a frag-fest one, im finding it enjoyable, even if personally i don't like 2 aspects of the game, into specific:
First of all its fully scripted, which means you cant plan in advance so much and cant play very tactical as many enemies just will spawn triggering a specific event and usually there will be situation with tons of them running in a room from no were like a pack of raging bulls.
Second the fact its not possible to save, there are just checkpoints with auto save.
Anyway i can tell the engine is very good, the hitbox is precise and satisfying, controls are configurable and they work pretty well, so , the game could have been a lot better imho if it was a bit more tactical but overall its a good game.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings7

Im going to update my rating from 6/10 to 7/10 for the 2.0 patch relase. This is my past review talking about the first release:
Dont get me wrong, i think this game is quite good at the end, i personally trust in CDP as developer, they did a great job patching and improving the witcher 1, proving they aim to be a solid company for their customers. Im not talking about bugs here because actually even with 1.1 patch the game is full of them, but we know everything possible will be fixed later on. CDP did a huge step forward with this release with the introduction of a new and great engine, but there are many opinable if not poor decisions about developing different aspects of the game. There is a very poor design of all the menus (inventory, crafting system, trading etc) and a gameplay too much script based, really limiting the freedom, in many occasions the game plays like an interactive movie as don bluth dragon's lair, not sure how some ppl can see an rpg masterpiece in this mess. The new engine is one of the best if not the best around, the game even at mid video setting looks impressive. The music and the audio effects are excellent, anyway most of the npcs are repeating to death the same statement every 5 seconds when you stand near them, which is really really annoying. The combat system is different from wt1, now its full real time and its developed to be played with a joypad more then keyboard+mouse, anyway it works fine and its fun and interesting as idea. There are ranged weapons like throwing knives (actually op) and bombs, many different traps to place on floor, the possibility to parry (and counterattack if you have the proper talent), the signs to add more depth. Overall the combat system is fun and nice, it relays a lot on the user skill and i think the result is quite good. Anyway after some time you will see some issues in this system cause the best tactic at the end is always rolling on the floor like a madman and strike when you can, in many occasions it seems just an hack'n'slash, but i return to tell, the combat system has his ups and downs, but overall its good. On a side note the use of the potions is different from wt1, you need to drink the potions out of combat, so you should prepare yourself before a fight, too bad this system obviously works only if you know in advance if you are going to be involved in a fight, wich is possible only with a die-and-reload-gameplay. Bad choice tbh, as potions should be part of the withcer combat arsenal and in this game you will end to use potions only after you died in a fight to repeat it with a little help, also the pots lasts too little and you will end to use them marginally. The story may be appealing itself but if you played tw1 and you know what happened before it make no sense at all in many circumstances, the problem is how the story is implemented in the game, and especially the fact Gerald seems always without the knowledge of any important event, person, situation, that should be part of his background. I will not go specific here to avoid spoilers but just the fact that Gerald starts as level 1 character having issues to beat even the most crap solider, without the knowledge of any monster is totally in contrast with any possible prelude to this plot. The gameplay is action based, heavily cinematic and deeply scripted, with a very limited freedom in interaction and exploration, and short dialogues with very limited choices. The looting system is not really user friendly, its hard to position Gerald to pick up items, also the window is very tiny and you cant scale it. The inventory system and the menu in general are the weak part of this game, you cant sort junk from all the rest, so you need to pass the whole inventory list looking every line one by one to check what is junk and what not, what to buy or sell. there is not the possibility to sort the schematics resulting in a huge list of potions, upgrades, crafting sheets etc with no possibility even to sort them alphabetically. There is not any customization and even if the game was a console port i think its possible to do something better then this. Trading and alchemy suffers the same issue. What you can carry is based on weights, the game is full of different ingredients, patterns, items in general and you will see soon that what you can carry is quite limited, so at a point you will end to continue go back and forth to sell items or just you will leave most of the loot on the floor. Mini games should be cut out. I think this game is a great title under some aspects, but its really lacking in others. Tbh even if this was announced as an rpg made for pc, the feeling is to play a console oriented game. This game plays more similar to console action games then any rpg, its oki CDP wanted to implement something more modern into a genre maybe a bit redundant, but the result seems looking more to the console market then the expectations of the rpg players.

Good idea actually poorly executed. The first big issue is about the porting, the game looks really dated even if on max settings and its nearly unplayable even at lower settings due to a terrible frame rate. Running around seems to watch the TV serie The six million dollar man, its terrible. Beside that i have to tell also the controls are not really working good too and the game its so easy that it seems to play an interactive movie, tbh its one of the worst ports ive seen so far, and the game itself it seems made for 5 years old kids. I wasted money, this game is garbage

I have to update me review, my first score after 25 hours of gameplay was a 6/10, as primary the terrible menu/inventory/crafting system and secondary the engine/textures hard porting created me some issues to be very satisfied.
Now after 70 hours of gameplay i can tell that even with those mentioned issues the game is more then good, also its really massive, i mean, there is really a lot to see and explore.
Dungeons are getting more interesting and complex, and also the combat system even if not much better then Oblivion its fun, at least playing primary as ranged.
The game runs also quite stable and ive not seen many bugs so far.
Sadly it could have been a true masterpiece but the issues mentioned above are quite annoying.

Just bought the game for 7,75 euros, im not a fan of action games, im a pc user keyboard+mouse, never had joypad and i will never get one.
Anyway i was attracted by the setting of this game and for this price i decided to try it.
The game sadly is a console hard port, and this ends ofc to have no graphic options and controls developed for a joypad in mind, which is the main and prolly only issue of this game for the pc release.
All the options and menus are not pc friendly, but they are not too bad at the end.
Controls are customizable to a point where game is enjoyable, anyway when needed to use ranged weapons aiming is a bit a pain, very imprecise compared to any fps game, but especially when you wanna select multi targets to be hit, you need to press 3 buttons to perform the action which is really far from something logical.
At the end on some fights you are fighting your controls more then the bosses.
Weird that it result quite hard to correctly aim with ranged weapons, which should be the easy part playing with a mouse in theory, but for some reason in this game even if changing settings the controls about it remain quite crap.
Anyway beside the aiming issue playing with a mouse, generally the melee fights are enjoyable, fast, and you can control your toon very well.
The graphics are bit dated, prolly it was not the best even at release, no AA etc, but i have to tell generally the palette, level design and mobs models are nice and got style and personality so its pleasing under this aspect.
Also the cutscenes are appealing and nice to see, the audio is good, voice acting bit better then usual, music nothing impressive but generally nice (the game comes with the soundtrack stand alone as bonus content actually).
Game is very fast peace on combat but its not a hack n' slash fest, you will spend a lot of time solving "puzzles" to go on, there are a good number of hidden "chests" etc to discover.
Some of the puzzles are quite interesting, some are also not so easy to solve if you wanna skip the internet guides and find yourself what to do, but some other goodies are bit weird and non-sense, so about that i can tell as average the puzzle side of the game is quite good and interesting, but sometimes its a bit frustrating or just impossible to figure out if not destroying or trying to interact with every single object present in a level.
The game is linear but the level design is good, most levels are quite big and you are free to roam into them, especially for puzzle solving you will find yourself moving a lot and backtracking is a must in this game, as many areas/rooms are not accessible without items you will find later in the game.
This backtracking actually adds a bit of longevity and its not bad as idea as you will have portals zones in every area to choose where to go instantly, but it can be a bit tedious sometimes.
Weapons have a level up system and can be upgraded during game, also your character will gain new combat moves and abilities / items.
About that i can tell the game requires a bit of grinding cause to level up weapons and especially to gain "credits" to buy upgrades you will need more then once to backtrack and kill a lot of trash mobs which respawns in the old zones, this adds again some longevity but its not very fun after a bit.
At the end im pleased with this game, its fun, combat is overall nice and most of the puzzles are involving, also i consider that ive spent actually less then 10 euros.
Only im complaining to the controls which could have been a lot better without the need of an incredible re-work i guess.
Ive wrote this review mostly cause i think a game like this , with a minor work on the pc release to rework controls (also graphic options but its less important) could have been really another level and its a shame to see most of the games ported in the last years to be hard ported without any upgrade, at the end pc gamers are paying the full price for a new game (at release i mean ofc), so some minor changes / customization to the menu and controls should be included in the porting.

Total War: Shogun 28
Mar 22, 2011
This title is without any doubt the best total war release of all time, the brand was loosing a lot of appealing with the last 2 releases, empires and napoleon, which are still plagued by several bugs and a limited by a crap engine/optimization.
In this little review i talk about single player game, multiplayer is supported and seems implemented in a very nice manner, but im not personally interested in it while playing tactical/strategy games so im not touching this aspect here.
The only 2 words i spend on mp is the fact i have the opinion other rts, starcraft2 in primis offer a lot more depth in strategy cause they are made for multiplayer single battles as idea, so this title cant compete specifically on it.
Shogun 2 graphically speaking does not support yet DX11 and AA, wich is a bit annoying, but the game is really nice to see both scenarios and units are great, also the engine finally is a good one so the result is a very smooth experience, with a lot of work on little details.
About the gameplay, the tactical campaing is very interesting, and similar to rome/medieval2, even if improved with an rpg-style level up of your generals and units which is a nice touch, now you can choose were to spend "points" to improve your generals and special units and traits are no more random (even if specific events may trigger modificators to traits or even brand new traits that you cannot choose directly).
At start you choose a faction with specific traits that are fixed, but during the turns you will have points to spend into 2 different trees to improve combat and economic side of your empire.
A single game ends before reaching all the upgrades available so you have to carefully plan where you wanna excel or what to priorise using those points.
The rts battles are very tactical and very involving, you need to choose carefully how to approach the enemy, and adapt to the units you are countering to be victorious, also the terrain can and shoul be used to gain advantage like hiding troops in the vegetation, charging from a hill etc.
The AI even at easy level is not stupid on the battlefield and tends usually to have an "intelligent" approach, also the different factions may react in a proper manner related to their aggressivness, which you can see in the detailed in the "trade panel", so some may prefer a frontal charge while other factions may prefer to defend etc, also every faction tend to prefer specific units over others, so the battles can last long and can be quite different which is a must for a game like this.
Talking about the audio, music and effects are are defo hi standard, not so various, but sure they dont lack in quality.
The game is very stable, the engine moves very smooth on my pc that is sure not new (intel dual duo 3.2 + ATI 5770), i had a couple of crashes on 80 hours playtime wich is defo good, expecially compared to the old total war wich sure did not excel in game stability.
Luckily it never happened so far the "last turn bug" that afflicted all the previous releases , and was the worst issue of all the Total war franchise imho.
At the end this game is one of the best mixed tactical turn based/rts game around, so anyone interested in the genre will be pleased sure with this game.
There are some minor issues that dont affect much the game but still they should be fixed, like units retreating from the battlefiled are no more "flagged" so to intercept them you need to manually find them on the field wich is quite annoying, and a non perfect pathfinding when moving into castles, even if 100 times better then previous total war titles.
Also when defending into castles you need to babysit a lot units, especially archers to be sure they are looking where is logic and expected to.
What i personally consider a great miss in a game like this is the total lack in customization, cant get why the total war franchise always forget / dont consider it a must.
You can start a campaign with only premade factions, starting always in the same zone with fixed traits and background, and the victory conditions can be only 3 and the difference is only the number of zones to conquer.
I can understand the historical work on this but from a title like this i expect more and various victory conditions, randomizable starting zones/traits, customizable factions, and maybe a map editor.
Also the game difficulty cant be applied to specific factions and you cant choose a different number of opponents then the preset.
Also another minor issue in my opinion is the fact if you choose the long campaign, when you are half way with around 30/60 zones conquered, going on is too easy and near the end the game really lack of interest, so basically going for the 45 zones condition or to the 60 changes nothing in terms of gameplay.
So i give an 8, great game, best in the serie, but still lacks in customization that should be a must for a geek of those tactical/strategic games.

Im not a huge fan of last Bioware releases, i consider DAO a good game with something really interesting and something to be improved (like the menus, inventory, crafting, linearity and more), and the mass effect serie too, not masterpieces tbh for me, but anyway good, and different games.
I was and i am i huge fan of old Bioware rpgs, as im a pc player and im no more a kid i remember and i own every rpg with Bioware involved in, and i have to admit i prefer a lot the old titles, no doubt about it.
This DAO2 prolly wanted to be a mix between DAO and Mass effect as idea, to be something fresh going to please more the console mass then the old style rpg geeks, at the end its all business.
But the result im sorry will not please everyone im sure about it, on console you get nowadays much better action titles then this one, especially if you consider the graphics and average fps cant compete even with non so recent titles and also the market is crowded with action oriented games, and about the pc geeks there is nothing to tell, no one will even play this more then couple of hours, prolly less.
Its a real shame to see Bioware involved in a project so damn crap like this one, this game is not a sequel of DAO, its just a laggy linear arcade with minor rpg elements programmed for consoles and badly ported to pc.
At least it was more honest if they realized to skip the pc release and present this game as an arcade spin off of DAO, like it actually is.
Its interesting btw to see how the "professional critics" are nowadays controlled by those majors, look at the scores... bah.
Even if you consider this game a brand new only console game its couldn't get more then a score of 4/10.
But as im talking about the PC version, dear DAO2 you deserve a full zero.

Sadly is more then clear that many big companies doesn't care much about releasing a full tested and working game nowadays.
Actually 27/09/10 this game is affected by many major and minor bugs that strongly ruin the experience (check the official forum about that), ok there will be fixes, but some issues related to the physics, the game mechanics and telemetry will need some kind of complete re-writing and i don't think there will be a fix for everything.
This game as it is now is all about a bugged arcade time trial, If you are looking for some kind of racing simulator better to look elsewhere, anyway even if considering this game a pure arcade it's disappointing.
I give 2 point and not a zero cause the good looking rain effect.
