This game doesn't quite fit into any of the genres of shooters you might be looking for. If you want a good narrative-driven shooter, the dialogue is fun, but the story or setting is not interesting enough to grab you and keep you interested. The TV in your house starts playing an old B movie called Tammy and the T-Rex. I started watching that, then got angry when it stopped for an interdimensional cable commercial break. That's when I realized I wasn't really that interested in which bounty I was supposed to go hunt next. If you're looking for satisfying shooter mechanics, this game doesn't quite scratch that itch either. There's a retro Divorced Boomer Shooter game that you play in the beginning where you have to headshot your ex's new boyfriends while jumping and blowing up explosive barrels, dodging behind cover and stuff. This is more mechanically engaging than the main new-age shooter. Your weapons aren't accurate enough to aim carefully. The highest difficulty is too easy. The boss fights are the only times you have to think very much about where to dodge or what to shoot. The boss fights are kind of fun once you get to them, even if they're not particularly challenging. You're probably going to play this game because you like Rick and Morty and the characters are funny and memorable. The game works, is polished, is exactly what you expect from a Rick and Morty game, and there's enough content. It's just not Shooter-of-the-Year and it's not breaking ground in any way. Every Game Is Political: This game has been criticized for using AI art generators to make the movie posters on the wall of your room and supposedly one minor character is voiced with AI.

This is the best city-builder this year. The game is challenging in a fair way. You don't struggle to stabilize your city constantly. Rather, it's easy to stabilize, but new encounters throw you off balance, so you're constantly trying to get a handle of something new. The challenges are also novel and interesting mechanically. Importantly, a lot of the rules respect you as a player. The roads don't cost resources. Buildings are fully refunded if you want to move them or shift your production focus. If something in your production chain breaks, it doesn't immediately cause a death spiral feedback loop that tears the whole system apart. You have a chance to recover. If you can't feed everyone, your workers don't immediately all go on strike and make it impossible to grow your food production again. These are the kinds of things a lot of similar games make mistakes with, and this game has taken those experiences into consideration when making design decisions. Some complaints about the game have been that the demo front-loads a lot of the story and cinematics which feels like a ripoff. If you're like me, you're buying the game based on reviews, not based on the demo, so it shouldn't be a problem. This is the new bar for city-builders.

There were glitches, but it ran fine for me. I enjoyed this game a lot. It's an open world game that respects your time. The variety of content is good, and the controls and combat were satisfying once I got the hotkeys mapped how I like. It's a fun game that's not trying to be too big, too long, or too deep. Make sure to do all the "activities." They're not marked in the map like other missions. You get to them from the in-game phone app.

This game looks great and runs well. I really enjoy the artistry put into this one. I think the gameplay is pretty weak though and the story seemed a bit out there. The game is mostly walking and when you get to a puzzle it's either too easy or too confusing. The dog seems like it's used to hint at the direction you're supposed to go half the time and the other half is just a distraction who is running the wrong way. I get this is supposed to be an esoteric experience like Inside, but I don't think it improves on the concept very much and puzzles are less interesting. I'm not sure how much of the same development team worked on this game, but this seems like a really good idea that wasn't fully fleshed out into a full experience. A clearer story and better puzzles that fully explore the interesting blue/red light mechanic would have been a really cool game. Plays great though, if you're looking for something relaxing to distract you for a day or two.

The Entropy Centre8

Solid, polished, well-made game. If you're looking for narrative puzzle games, this is worth getting. The length is good. The difficulty is medium - the last handful of puzzles are difficult enough, but hardcore puzzlers might want more of a challenge. It's definitely an homage to Portal, but in a way that's more interesting and novel than other Portal-inspired games. The Talos Principle is another similar game worth getting that's more difficult with less variety in puzzle elements. Nothing in The Entropy Centre has a chance to get boring before a new kind of block, gate, or switch is introduced. Performance, music, voice acting, controls, settings, all the little things were perfectly polished. A couple very occasional bugs occurred, but it's a new developer and I doubt you'll notice them. Entropy is one of my favorite philosophical concepts also, so I loved playing a game that explores the existential consequences of it. Extremely satisfying game to play.

One of the best games I've played in a while. This is extremely well polished and the controls work well. All the mechanics since the first game are improved. The writing is the best part of the game though. The characters are interesting and have a lot of personality. The narrative of building an uprising against big data and huge tech corporations is exciting. There are probably hundreds of open world games like this, and I've played a lot of them, but this one is my favorite.

Clearly the haters are politically motivated. This game is getting review bombed. The game isn't that bad. In fact, I think it's really good. The new cartoonish style bothered me at first, but it works really well with Saints Row's trademark whackiness. The acting/voice acting is everything I could have asked for. The characters are interesting and have personality. The main issue is there are still a handful of bugs and performance issues. Some people might be able to get it to run smoothly. I almost did, but there was just too many occasional stutters for me to ignore. I'll come back and reevaluate the game after a patch or two. This genre of game is not lacking for other options. This one still has potential to be really good if performance issues are fixed, but do not support an unfinished product. Buy used.

Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville8

I was a big fan of the first two flash games. This version isn't much different from Rebuild 2, just much more polished. Press "0" to get turn-based mode, which was how the previous games worked. I like the Civilization type of strategy, and it doesn't require the insane time sink that those games do.

I think this game is a little bit over rated. The story isn't super compelling, the game mechanics aren't special, and all-in-all it's not much to write home about. It's a good single-player experience to pick up if you're waiting for next year's batch to come out though. I enjoy the face-capture graphics and I enjoyed Warehouse 13, so the story was familiar. Go play Outer Wilds for a really unique experience first.

Just got a defeat screen in my first campaign. -1 point because the tutorial doesn't really explain the nuances of some mechanics very well. Just a liiiitle more information about how to manage finances would go a long way for me. I didn't understand why I lost. Still excited to try again from the beginning though. -1 point for the monetization. $60 for all the content through UPlay only - or $15 a month for the UPlay membership. I just think it's a tad steep, but maybe there's a lot more content than I realize. Maybe it'll get cracked soon. This game is the spiritual successor to my favorite city-builder from the 90s. Games like Frostpunk and Surviving Mars have been bringing back this genre lately, but I didn't realize how much Anno truly revives it. I didn't realize this franchise existed, and I'm so excited to get back to designing city blocks with streets for all the walkers and stuff.

Another penny-squeezing mobile game that gets all it's sales from non-gamers that don't know what they want and sexual advertising. People need to realize that there are literally hundreds of games exactly like this. It's cool how it immediately throws you into an alliance so yo can talk to other people about how *****y the game is. Can't believe the critic reviews are as high as they are.

Depression Quest8
Sep 27, 2014
First, I have no bias based on the "Gamergate" event.... I was confused about what that was all about but thought I'd check out the game, I am a gamer after all. I also have not yet completed the game, I intend to continue it though. The biggest thing in question about this game is, "is it really a game?" I would like to remind everyone that, if you go to the home page, Depression Quest very clearly advertises itself as an "interactive (non)fiction." A non-fictional interactive fiction. As a "game" it is lacking, of course. But for the purposes of this review I will be rating it as what it is meant to be, interactive reading material. I'm not a sound guy, there could be no sound at all, makes no difference to me. I've found, going through the route I took, that there aren't a whole lot of options available at each cross-roads. When you have to make a decision it lists several possible actions to take and then often crosses out all but one or two. I like this, this makes sense to me. It portrays the sense that depression is taking over my life and making these options impossible. I assume, had I taken a less depressing, more open route where I talk about my feelings with friends and meet with a doctor, that more of these options would have been available. This is an over all plus for me. The exact feeling Depression Quest gives me was actually kind of overwhelming, I realized how much I feel similar to the character in the game and that I myself might be dealing with some form of depression. It truly has opened my eyes a bit to this possibility and made me think, which was the desired intention. Finally, the reason Depression Quest is not a ten: simple grammar and spelling errors. This counts a lot for me though. It didn't feel professional or serious because of this. Felt unfinished. Great work was put into releasing Depression Quest and just a little more effort could make it much more complete.
