Horrible frame rate loss during cut-scenes. 5 CTDs in first hour of gameplay on PS5 The CTDs seem to also wipe out recent saves as I am getting put back about 10 minute after reloading the game. I had to stop and shelve it until this mess gets fixed. I'll give two points for the atmosphere and music so far, but otherwise unplayable.

"OUT OF AMMO" This image across the center of your screen will be burned into your eyes before this game is over. Don't even think about having fun cutting up the bigger demons with the chainsaw, you will be burning up that one slither of fuel of fodder demons for ammo. Also, who ever though that the platforming in this game was a good idea for DOOM needs to be fired. Wasted hellish amounts of armor/health falling down trying to cross all the launch areas. I'm the DOOM Slayer, not George of the f***ing Jungle. It absolutely kills the immersion and pace of the game. Stand still and you will die. You must always keep moving. That's about all this game has to offer that is "DOOM." Once far enough into the game you have enough unlocks the combat can be fun, but again the constant inventory management is so distracting from a DOOM game. Music is great but the same track is often used over and over and over again. While it has it's fun moments in some of the kill arenas the game overall is a frustrating experience. Massive step in wrong direction after DOOM 2016. Very disappointed.

Stand still and you will die. You must always keep moving. That's about all this game has to offer that is "DOOM." DOOM Eternal is DOOM trying to be Quake Arena or Unreal Tournament, idk. "DOOM Raider" one reviewer called it. Who ever though that the platforming in this game was a good idea for DOOM needs to be fired. It absolutely kills the immersion and pace of the game. I'm the DOOM Slayer, not George of the f***ing Jungle. Like DOOM 2016 you move through the levels and hit demon hot spots where you are locked in combat for some time until everything is dead. The combat is uber fast paced, almost too much so for controllers (use mouse and keyboard if you can). My problem with the game though is the low ammo count offered you start out with. I am constantly having to chainsaw small enemies to get ammo, so I'm never able to actually chainsaw the bigger demons. Also the low amount of health and armor items available force you to constantly time shots to cause enemies to stagger for glory kills. I absolutely HATE when games do this, force you to play their way (the developer's way), not your way. I want to run around slaughtering and wrecking demons like every DOOM game to date was played, not be thinking about avoiding hurting them too much that they die without allowing me to get the glory kill to keep my health and armor up. I blew through DOOM 2016 in a couple days. Couldn't stop playing it but this game is such a disappointment I'm only playing for maybe an hour at a time and I go to something else. I'll keep it out of the red with 5 cause the combat can be fun and the soundtrack is metal as ever but I won't be recommending this to fans of classic style DOOM (again, which DOOM 2016 did much better at).

Yes it's a buggy mess, but I'm still having fun. Worst parts really are the lock ups and several frame rate drops that spike up and few game breaking bugs such as when you try to complete a quest objective, but no prompt appears at the quest marker leaving you completely unable to advance that story line. Still though I'm having fun. in just 3 days of playing I already hit the 24 hour play mark achievement. I found it fun and frustrating trying to learn the way this game handles item weight, storage space and food and water consumption. Not till I reached lvl 20 did I finally figure out how to balance it so you're not stuck. Does this game deserve a high score? No, but i don't think it deserves to be review bombed by upset Fallout fanboys who didn't get the Fallout 5 with bits of multiplayer they were hoping for.

Gave it an honest try. Became bored and frustrated very quickly. Here's the game; Get quest, find monster, beat on monster, monster runs away, follow green lightning bugs to monster, beat on monster again, monster runs away. Repeat till boss is dead. Where's the immersion? Controls are clunky in combat. Graphics would be enjoyable if the world wasn't washed out in a bright white-ish haze (like how BF3 had that blue filter). The lip syncing being obviously way off from what is being said to me is quite distracting (spoken lines are very short and not the same as subtitles. Hey, seems many people are enjoying it, so may just not be my cup of tea. Nope, threw it up on Ebay. Sorry =(

As a massive fan of Black Flag (not so much AC itself as a whole) I pre-ordered this and picked up up on launch day, waited almost two weeks till I got my XB1X to play it. Immediately I was amazed at the game graphically. This is by far the best looking console game I have played. I have two 4k PCs as well so I know what that front is like. Not sure what the frame rate is on the X, but if it's only 30 at 4k it isn't bothering me. Right away though I was concerned with the gameplay. The prologue was not grabbing me. The story is confusing. In fact I'm still not sure exactly what's going on and why the protagonist is on this journey. But once I got past the prologue, and got more use to the new combat system, the game really grew on me. Actually the combat is now refreshing from other ACs. It's very Dark Souls-y without a stamina meter IMO. Not quite W3 or Batman as you can't just spam to your heart's content and hold block for invulnerability. This new system requires you to think defensively as well. Questing is refreshing from the previous ACs. Other than the treasure hunting quests, it doesn't feel like the typical Ubisoft open-world style game of rinse and repeat. Nothing I've done in the main story or side quests so far is a copy paste of a previous mission (again, aside from the treasure hunting). Soundtrack is good. Very industrial, similar to Unity's soundtrack. The world itself is immense. I swear the zone that contains Alexandria itself is as big as the London map of Syndicate. Overall, I'm now thoroughly enjoying the game. If you're a hardcore AC fan I'm not sure how'd you'd like this with all the changes (including the new RPG style loot system), but fans of Black Flag will love it. I am.

Obligatory 0 for this nonsense. Still though I enjoyed the first enough that I bought SoM second hand from someone on Ebay, not giving my money to WB. Looking at SWBF2 it looks to be even worse in that game. Probably have to buy that 2nd hand as well (Soon as EA announced no season pass I knew there was going to be a massive catch). IGN giving this a 9 should be just another piece of evidence how corrupt gaming journalism is. They listed quite a few problems with the game too, yet give it a 9.

If I was grading this on PC it would be an easy 0 as it wasn't even functional. No in-game audio and progress froze before I could eve get out of my squad car. Refunded it immediately on Steam then bought on PS4. Still on my PS4 Pro it still had severe frame rate issues throughout the game. Game itself was ok at best IMO. Didn't really get a horror feeling, though there were a few cheap jump scares tossed in. Has a few areas where you must avoid a monster that pats around (typical horror game trope) almost exactly like in Outlast. A lot of the visuals were pretty crazy though, being high might make the game too much for you. Get it on sale, worth a walk through (80% of game is just a walking sim) if you're into the whole distopian, cyber-punkish scene.

If I could I would go back and skip buying this. The further into the game I go (about 15 hours as of this review) the more frustrating the game gets. First off it's difficult, which normally I wouldn't complain about but in Prey (even on easy) it's a struggle to maintain everything (ammo, health, armor) and the enemies take outrageous amount of shots to kill comparatively. Even point blank can take several shots with the shotgun to kill larger enemies. I'm now finding it necessary to just sprint past them to get to an objective. I've hardly been able to create anything in the fabricator as all my parts go to ammo and health packs. I would love to branch out some neuromod points into more useful skills, but they're limited to find and due to the aforementioned problem I can't really afford to craft them. I'll still give it a 7 though as they did a good job of creating the feel of an older PC game, almost like Half-Life. No hand holding (well except the flashy objects and enemy "wall hack" markers) and no cut scenes. Just tossed into the game after a quick prologue and you're off. The game can be fun if you let it, just know that resource management (which I probably have just been bad at) has been the most important aspect so far.

So i picked this up at Best Buy for Black Friday, $20. So far I'm loving it, especially for the price. After playing a few hours I watched the IGN review and the biggest disagreement I have with it is the reviewer's complaint of changing ammo colors for each enemy, saying it's "insultingly simplistic." Against single opponents I guess, but so far I have seen many encounters where multiple colors of enemies swarm you, especially in boss fights with adds, requiring you to be quick on your feet with how you handle ammo color switching and enemy targeting. The platforming is some of the best I've seen for a while. The only complaint I really have is the loading times. If they can fix that like From Software did for Bloodborne that would be wonderful.

This was my first time playing a tell tale game, or what ever you call this type of game. I liked the idea of ripping off all the stereotypes of teen slasher horror movies, giving control to the player of each character's choices. As far as horror goes though, it's not scary at all. After first two chapters I knew there was nothing to be scared of in this game other than trying to predict the countless jump scares there are. And there are a lot, but ya that's it for horrow, no sense of dread at all. By chapter 4 I was just running though each scene w/o a care for what was coming up. I finally got through the game with 1 survivor. I doubt I will play it again though. The butterfly effect was very well executed during my play through, but at the same time you can pretty much guess what will happen if you play again and make the other choices. Game certainly has replayability, but only for completionist. Not worth the $60, get it used or in the sales.
