Really good. Very much enjoyed this movie. Rami Malek is fantastic as Freddie Mercury and the whole cast is phenomenal. The music is amazing, of course, and mainly the music performance scenes are great. Storytelling is very good, don't let the bad reviews fool you. I cried, in both times that I've seen it. If you love Queen music, you will love this movie. It can be cringy and a little forced, also deceptive with Freddie Mercury's identity but they did what they could.

Surprisingly, one of the best films of the year. I really enjoyed "A Star Is Born" mainly because of the performances. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are SO good in this movie, they are really believable and with Cooper's directing, we really have a built narrative about both complex characters. I thought the music was great, the cinematography was really well done, pretty much it was all good. It's not perfect, because it is Oscar bait and it is very dramatic, but it's done really well and it's kinda too good for what it should be.

Really weird. Lots of the movie was very disturbing and shocking, as well as awesome for its originality. The story is that this bubble called the "Shimmer" appears, surrounding this lighthouse, a woman named Lena is the main character. Her husband returns from a mission of exploring the shimmer and is the only one to survive, though he seems off and sick, so she decides to investigate where he went for his mission. Turns out where she goes is nothing like she's ever seen before, normal animals mutated with something not on this planet makes them really horrifying. She discovers the truth of the shimmer and what it's plan is, which really is an adventure. Movie was really great and had some great sci-fi aspects to it. Not many problems here except for the weird jumps between great action and awkward dialogue.

Honestly was disappointed. Maybe just not my type of movie, because I found 'First Man' to be very slow and repetitive, as well as dumb and cliche. It made happy and historic points of the story very sad, reflecting lots about family, and although it showed a different side of the story it definitely had issues. The movie was too long and had a very mellow tone. I can see why some people really enjoyed it but in the end, it had me disappointed.

Saw the trailers and was really excited because I didn't know what it was about. You can't really explain this movie without spoiling it, and the best way to explain it really is to say that the El Royale is a messed up hotel with a bunch of secrets, and everyone brings their problems there. All the problems connect and build on each other to cause some major consequences. Very violent, very long, but it has some really good scenes. The performances were great, especially Jeff Bridges, parts of the movie were very intense and creepy, smart writing by Mr. Goddard. Some scenes with dialogue went on for a bit too long, showing how extensive the movie wanted to be. Still enjoyed it a lot, great twists, had no idea what was coming in this movie, which was great.

This Netflix Original is fantastic! It's very interesting but also disturbing especially that this is all real. The directors did a great job showing the struggle that the subjects had in the Hasidic community, and I just love this film so much. The directors and editors and crew are also really cool people, and they deserve and Oscar! Go see One Of Us!

I don't understand why this got amazing reviews. 88% Rotten Tomatoes, 8.5 IMDb, 78% Meteascore, and Jeremy Jahns on YouTube made it his Number 1 favorite of 2012. I honestly thought this movie was very confusing, and had WAY too many plot holes and un answered questions. One big one is Does everyone know Bruce Wayne is Batman except for Lieutenant Gordon? Or Is it coincidence that in movies everyone goes a little crazy and druggy/drunk when they are dying? Are we expected to understand what Bane is saying? What's under Bane's mask? If Bane actually loved Miranda and had feelings for her, why didn't he show them earlier on in the movie? It's kinda weird for Miranda to be caring for a terrorist that is way older than her. Anyways, the movie is kinda weird because there is no reason why you couldn't let all of Gotham's citizens leave WAY in advance than before the bomb would go off. So if Bane is some crazy terrorist, is he on steroids or something to keep him really strong? Does he care that he is killing everyone in Gotham in front of millions? Also, why is it called "The Dark Knight Rises" when Bruce gets hurt a lot, it's mostly about Bane. I like how it is partially entertaining, and how it builds separately. But it's out of order a lot of times. The movie gets junky, like it gets really weird involving the deaths. They just wanna make it 3 hours long to keep us sitting and make a lot of money. I mean, it could have ended by the time you ate your first popcorn! Think about it. It's entertaining enough, but does this movie blow you away? Not for me. It's like an on-the-run movie like Cinderella. Christopher Nolan the director wanted to make millions of dollars by making a good trailer, and good ads to get it done. He knew himself everyone loved "The Dark Knight" and "Batman Begins" but not him. He loves this one, because there's a lot of violence. This is a really dumb movie.

I wasn't looking forward to this one, yet before seeing it my hopes went up a tiny bit. I got what I expected from the movie, not a satisfying "conclusion" if it is. I don't understand why all these studios love adding in many villains and extra storylines into the final films or the third films of the franchises. It's cute, I guess, but it relies on Steve Carell's funny voice and the little girls being cute. I guess it has nice lessons about family and such, but it is a disappointment. I love the other ones, but not this one.

I usually don't like the director Christopher Nolan, his films are very long and dark, plus go on in repetitive themes to show how flashy and smart he is. I was looking forward to Dunkirk, because it would be an interesting turn of his films and would give him acclaim. I feel that this was partially for Oscar bait, but who cares when you have a film like this. It's so intense and realistic, because it follows the feeling of the British soldiers themselves, not everyone in the war, but the events really happening. We don't need to know about what the Germans looked like, the characters reactions and actions to prevent the attacks and to save their own lives really shows what war is like. Many people don't appreciate the sophistication in this film, for Nolan has included a realistic amount of violence and a smart way to play with time. Very impressed how he jumped from the silly Interstellar to an accurate portrayal of Dunkirk. Beautifully shot, and don't listen to the haters about the film itself or about the history. Great movie.

This movie is not what I expected it to be. The title "It Comes At Night" doesn't necessarily mean that there is a monster that is present in the night time, it can mean many things. The director likes long takes that make it intense, and the camera work is amazing. I really enjoyed this movie, because it was intense and mysterious, not all jumpy in your face. When the credits roll, you think about what the movie could have been telling you, and all the unanswered questions. So many things unanswered in this film that could have changed the whole movie and sent it down a different path, yet some things are better unknown. I like the editing style of this movie, and the way that we follow through a characters' eyes. This film isn't for everyone, because I can tell I was the only one in the theater who enjoyed it. Highly recommended, this movie is creepy and interesting. Well thought out. Full review on ****

Some raunchy type PG jokes, mostly that kids will not get or laugh at, but overall a fun event. It stays true and fun to the books, with cute animation, and creative humor. Sometimes it wastes time using potty jokes or fart humor, but that can actually be funny, for some reason. Enjoyable!

My favorite film of all time. The Matrix brings visually and beautifully stunning effects with an excellent screenplay and direction from the two, plus great performances and pacing. It tells the story about a world where you are blinded from the truth, and everything is confusing. The reason I love this movie is because it is so smart and interesting to a society today, where we all have our screens and technology. What if we really were blinded from the truth, and we had to go inside a computer to figure it out? Highly recommended.

Alien: Covenant was not what I expected! This film takes place after the Prometheus mission had failed because of bad outcomes, and Covenant takes a huge step forward! I enjoyed Prometheus, but I though Covenant was much better and it has lots of gore. Ridley Scott is a legendary director, making this film intense and scary, and sometimes this movie did without music. The camera work is absolute stunning, and the acting fits the tone of the movie so well. Surprisingly, the recent "Alien" film is very realistic to what the reaction of people would be if they were on a ship in space, and found Alien life. Everyone cares for each other, and this movie has very distinct couples and characters, plus stunning visuals. I hope this movie gets some more recognition and love, because I think Alien: Covenant is a great film. It might be my favorite Alien film.

There were hardly any jokes in this movie, and when there were they didn't crack a laugh. Maybe once or twice. With an outstanding cast, a great director, and amazing writing, "get Out" is to please. It has many messages about preventing as well as helping racial discrimination, and white people using racism to support black people. I found it very interesting, and the twists we're fantastic. I highly enjoyed this, and the ending was good, as well as the soundtrack. Nothing really built my suspense to stay with me, but it's still great.

The songs that they sing are super cute and funny in the way they are used. The animation is adorable because it paints some scenes using felt and fabric. I was looking forward to this one, but Hacksaw Ridge was a disappointment. The story is good, but the way it's told is not. We do not see much fighting until about 90 minutes into the movie, and most of those 90 minutes are Desmond Doss thinking if he should go to war. The acting is not very good, and Andrew Garfield, the lead as Desmond is not very good. The war scenes are not very intense or realistic, because of all the bloodshed and gore that comes out. When we see severed limbs, it doesn't look very realistic, it just looks stupid. An overrated movie, Hacksaw Ridge is. Saving Private Ryan is better.

La La Land is so beautiful and well told! Musical Theater buffs, children, and all parents and adults can enjoy this masterpiece, directed by Damien Chazelle. It tells the story of an actress named Mia, who is struggling with romance and finding a job. She finds a pianist named Sebastien who plays Piano, and is struggling with a steady gig and money. After Sebastien (Ryan Gosling) ignores her in the restaurant he was playing in, they start to run in to each other a lot more. They start to realize that they could be together, and they get engaged. Sebastien teaches her about jazz, and they both help each other to become successful, until of course, the tragedy, which you have to see the movie for. I really like how this movie spends a lot of time in the "musical theater" phase, such as the opening scene where they used one shot to film a super- spectacular dancing scene. There are also stunning visuals that includes the dancing, such as the part where they fly into space and dance. The singing, music, and piano playing is beautiful, especially the original songs such as "City of Stars" written by Justin Hurwitz. I also really admire the story, it is very sweet and age appropriate for everyone. There are some very sad parts in the movie, but most of it leaves you to think, "what would have happened next?" You may be wondering if I love it so much, why isn't it an 10? Well, as a film critic, I would say that it changes tones very quickly, like from sad to intense, or happy to chaotic. But I do highly recommend this film to everyone! It is one of the best movies of the year, and deserved the Oscars.

Moonlight

Mar 25, 2017
"Moonlight" is a wonderful film that is a coming of age story about an African-American man who is bullied for being gay. It is hard to describe the plot in a sentence or two, but I can tell you the movie is told in three different parts, one as a kid, teen and a grown man. The boy's name is Chiron, and his mother(like many at the time) was a crack-addict and would never give Chiron the love he needed. Chiron, as a young boy, met a friendly drug dealer and his girlfriend, who are the only ones sharing affection with him. The dealer, Juan, and his girlfriend take care of him by feeding him, and letting him spend the night on occasions. As he grows up, Chiron gets bullied even more, and it almost seems as everything gets worse. Having trouble with his identity, he meets a troublemaker named Kevin who actually has feelings for him, and they experience sexuality. But of course, there are always more conflicts for him to experience. When a grown man, he becomes someone else, not who the real, "little" Chiron is. "Moonlight" is a hard movie to watch at many parts, including the second act. It is also hard to relate to these characters, bullied, black, gay and surrounded by drugs. The real reason why this movie is so emotional, so captivating is because of the incredible performances by ALL, and the extraordinary directing from Barry Jenkins. I left this movie crying, because at the end it's almost like a fill in the blank, you have to understand from what Chiron has gone through, and how he turns out. Many people dislike this movie, to be mean towards black people, and I assure you, if no one told me or you this had an all-black cast, you wouldn't notice.

Logan is probably the most violent movie I have ever seen. Extremely bloody, profane, raw and disturbing. Logan has a theme of kidnapping and child abuse, which is hard to watch because these kids are being hunted down by all. It scared me to see a family murdered one by one, and I was a bit freaked out. The script is very lazy, with many swear words inside. The good part of this movie is the acting. Hugh Jackman did a fantastic job as Logan, but the other characters' performances do not fit in as much with Hugh Jackman's style. Patrick Stewart does not do such a great job as a leading role, and it almost seems like Hugh Jackman has to be there all the time in the scene so we don't completely freak out. I understand how some people would like this movie, speaking of which that it is "Marvel's Dark Knight." I am not a huge fan of superhero films, nor am I a fan of dark superhero films, but this one seemed different. I'd rather see a movie where I could follow along and enjoy the plot and suspense as we go. The plot in Logan isn't that spectacular, and they use references to the X-Men comic books in the movie just to remind us that this movie was based on a deep comic strip. This is only my opinion, but I wished the violence wouldn't be so non-stop, bloody and cheesy. Not a fan of these films, and it has ruined my small liking of superhero films. I do like LEGO Batman, though!
