Practically unplayable. Couldn't even finish the campaign because it was so broken it hard locked my entire console....three...times. This isn't simply unpolished it's F'ING RAW!!!!!! The multiplayer, warzone, and even zombies don't really interest me and I have no desire to try them after dealing with this uncooked slop Activision has the gall to charge full price for.

Fantastic game that does everything a sequel should do, i.e. take everything great from the previous games and then add even more to it. A wonderfully chill game that anyone can enjoy at their own pace. My only complaints are the one save per switch, and you have to pay for the online service just to scan and use QR codes. Not a big deal for me personally but still disappointing. Otherwise it would be a perfect 10 in my book.

If you were addicted to Destiny before, then you'll probably love Destiny 2. That is because while a slight improvement over the first game, Destiny 2 is by and large more of the same. For those like myself who jumped ship long ago, there isn't much reason to stick around past the main story. Worth a rental but save your money unless you absolutely must have more of the same Destiny grind.

Interesting idea botched by the poor design of the underground building area and more of the same without improving the experience. A waste of time unless you NEED to have more settlement building for whatever reason. More fun playing the free mobile game and a better experience being an overseer than this. Just don't bother with this DLC.

Terrible, simply terrible. From a technical standpoint the game is a disaster. To call it unpolished and poorly optimized would be a massive understatement. Clearly shoved out the door without any regard for quality or their customers. Even without all that you would still have a poor game (to put it mildly) and simply not worth your time. Yet another game that clawed its way out of development **** should have just stayed there. Go play Freedom Fighters instead.

The best thing I could say about The Division is that. it's okay. Just okay. It is the videogame equivalent of oatmeal, inoffensive and filling but not exactly memorable or special. If you are at all interested in playing then just rent, because once you have played it for a few hours then you'll have seen all there is to it. Maybe get it when it's on sale or likely has a package deal with all the dlc **** otherwise yeah it doesn't have any staying power. Especially when the servers inevitably go down for good.

XCOM 25
Feb 9, 2016
While I'll be the first to admit to not being an MLG Pro or master tactician, I think it's fair to say the game has an unreasonably steep difficulty curve, even more so than in the previous game. The issue is not that the game is challenging, rather that it's cheap/artificial difficulty spawned from poor balance and wonky shooting. The timer mechanic is not a bad idea but often felt too strict and far too common. The whole game feels like you are being rushed, whether its to reach an objective in time or getting pulled into a mission while trying to do something else or just against the "doom counter" hanging over your head. Again it comes down to an issue of balance that game can't manage to find. To be fair the concept and presentation is cool, and the gameplay is fun when the various parts click together. Unfortunately due to technical issues, poor balancing/design, and general feel like an expansion or spin off rather than full sequel ...I can't in good faith give XCOM 2 more than a 5 overall.

Gameplay wise it's still the king of the RTS hill, with solid mechanics and lots of quality missions even if they obviously reused some mission designs. Story **** was decent (if a little cliche) till the epilogue missions. Not going to spoil it here but let's just say that I was literally yelling "WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" at my screen at certain reveal that really annoyed me. Also the final ending felt really flat, sappy, and groan inducing. At least for me it was. It does tie up all the loose ends I guess but honestly I would have liked it better if they had just stopped where the main campaign ended. Also the Xel'naga look like discount Cthulhu monsters...really Blizz, that's the best you could come up with? Anyway that stuff aside I did enjoy the game overall.

Destiny: The Taken King0

Considered renting just for the hell of it to see if the changes had made the game worth coming **** bad you can't do that! You have to rebuy the base game and previous two expansions just to get the third one (and yes TTK is nothing but another glorified expansion) but only the base game is on a disc. You have to redeem codes for the rest, meaning its impossible to access TTK on its own physically or digitally. So basically a poke in the eye of anyone who bought the game at launch and already own the previous expansions. Whats even better is people are facing locked out/crippled content if they haven't bought TTK even if they already paid for it with the previous expansions. Said it before but I'll say it again that Destiny as a whole has been a huge disappointment. There are worse games to be sure, but Destiny is bad because it had so much potential that was wasted due to either poor direction or outside meddling from Activision. They squandered any faith I had in Bungie to put out a worthwhile experience and made it so I won't even consider anything of theirs except as a rental or at a deep discount. I may have missed out on TTK but I'm okay with that, and I shouldn't be.

I'll keep this beief because there is no sense putting more effort into this review than Bungie did with this DLC. Just a cheap reskin and retread of the same beyond stale content. The Order: 18865
Feb 28, 2015
The problem with The Order isn't the amount of time it takes to complete (which was about 6 hours for my playthrough) but that it fails to make that time spent feel worthwhile. It's been only 24 hours since I played the game and already I'd be hard pressed to recall anything memorable about the experience. Just a whole lot of shooting generic dudes with generic guns, occasionally getting to use some of the more interesting guns or a few repetitive fights with "halfbreeds" aka werewolves, but mostly just a lot of watching unskippable cutscenes with far too many quick time events inserted presumably to make sure I was still awake. To be fair it does look very nice and clearly they spent a lot of effort on the cinematics, but they did so at the expense of the gameplay. The Order is too preoccupied with being a movie that when it begrudgingly hands control back to the player it's only to let them walk slowly down a strict path or take part in functional yet bland shooting galleries against waves of human goons. There is so much potential in the world they have built and weapons to use but it fails to make use of them in any meaningful way. The Order is a 5-6 hour movie with bits of interaction sprinkled in, worth only a rent for those at all interested but nothing worth replaying again for. Not a terrible game, just a mediocre and ultimately forgettable one.

Destiny is the biggest bait-and-switch in a long time and this sad excuse of an expansion is just salt on the wound. There is no reason to pay money for this or even play it if you weren't already **** into buying the season pass at launch like me. It adds nothing worthwhile to the game, just more of the same locations, same enemies, same mindless missions, same barely-there exposition and **** are just paying $20 for more of the same repetitive grind fest. Blatantly lazy cash grab that no one can excuse. Save you money and time and don't waste it on this scam. PS i heard that they had improved the loot/engram system but I didn't notice any difference during my short time back. Engram drop rates felt exactly the same and I got nothing but junk from both them and the RNG loot drops at the end of missions. This expansion gave me two things, jack and **** and a renewed hatred for Bungie/Activision. So there is that.

Destiny5
Oct 2, 2014
When you get down to it and look past the hype, this game is a big disappointment and a huge waste of potential. The core combat is solid, the game looks amazing, and multiplayer is fun. Sadly that's all there is to commend. The story and universe is poorly established and barely there even compared to most FPS games and especially to rpg/mmo's. Great voice talent like Peter Dinklage are totally wasted on this rough draft story. There are only 3 planets and the moon to explore, all of which consist of tiny maps that while pretty, feel empty and lifeless. You can blow through the whole story in a day easily and reach level 20 with little effort. Endgame is what kills Destiny as the loot system for PVE and PVP is chained to a RNG. All you can do is grind the same handful of multiplayer modes/maps or grind the same 5-6 strike missions till you want to puke. There is just so little to do, it's missing social features like trading and chat, and the loot system is an absolute (and literal) joke. Yes they may address these issues somewhat with patches and DLC but that is a long ways off at best. Right now at least, I'm done with Destiny, in fact I've already traded it back in to best buy. I wanted this so badly to be good but it's ****.... Maybe in a year or more it will be worth a buy **** should have been so much more already... *sigh*

WildStar3
Jul 8, 2014
The few good things they do to update or add a new twist are outweighed by how bog standard and even old fashioned it is. It's not hard to tell it was made by people who worked on vanilla WoW because it felt that old in game design. All in all I was just bored with the game quickly and the few interesting bits lost their freshness quickly. It's not really a bad game but WIldstar simply feels like a old school MMO with a new coat of paint, doing the same stuff countless other MMOs have done for years. Maybe if it were F2P then I could overlook this but in this market you have to stand out to justify charging a monthly subscription but Wildstar just doesn't have the chops IMO.

As much as I loved Oblivion and Skyrim I could only play the beta for about an hour before getting so bored I quit and uninstalled the game right then and there. It's just so...average. Not bad but not great either, doing nothing mechanically or visually outstanding in a genre littered with the corpses of countless "me too" fantasy games. It's everything you would expect from a generic fantasy mmo and nothing more. There is just no reason for it to exist as it brings nothing to the table that hasn't been done so many times before.

South Park: The Stick of Truth9
Mar 9, 2014
Whether or not you should play this game is best answered by how big a South Park fan are you as that will ultimately determine your mileage with this game. If you know the show by heart then you will absolutely adore this game as it is one big in joke, packed to the brim with references and every character in some way. Most of them will fall flat for the uninitiated though so if this is your first impression then you might want to do some catching up first. As far as the gameplay goes while its nothing exceptional or balanced it is engaging and simple enough to be fun without needlessly bogging you down. Ultimately the humor is the star of this show and just as silly and disgusting as you would expect. Even as a moderate fan I don't laugh this much or this hard at a game very often so it was well worth a few days rental.

Just when you think EA can't sink any lower, can't be any more shameless grabbing for cash, and run out of beloved franchises to ruin...they do it again! This has to be the most DISGUSTING display of not just greed but blatant CONTEMPT for both the consumer and gaming in general. That this dirty little thief disguised as a game even exists would be offensive enough, but no, EA had to drag yet another beloved series through the mud in the process. When EA gets the golden turd again and once again fail to understand why...THIS will be all the explanation needed. **** YOU, EA times infinity!

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow Expansion Pack3
Nov 24, 2013
Looking at this on its own there are some interesting new additions to play with. The mega towers look very cool and a futuristic city adds some nice variety from the normal plain building aesthetics. However there is simply not enough new content or any real changes to the game to warrant a $30 price tag in my opinion. If they had increased city sizes or taken out the DRM then maybe it would be more worthwhile. As it stand this is just a glorified DLC pack that only highlights the problems with such small cites spaces. Save your cash and wait for a sale.

SimCity 5 is a very good game that has been ham stringed by bad corporate decisions. Some changes have been made for better or worse but overall it is a very fun city builder. My advice: if you are interested then wait a few more weeks for things to settle down, then get it and enjoy.

Halo 48
Nov 12, 2012
Let me just say this up front, Halo 4 is not a perfect 10 but neither is it a bad game either. While the game does have some flaws (AI noticeably dumber, new weapons are pretty meh, doesn't do anything really new) it still hits all the notes you would expect from a Halo game and it does them competently. The visuals are absolutely amazing especially on an aging console, and while not as iconic or bombastic as something from Marty O'Donnell the new music here fits well and doesn't distract from the action. Four player co-op for the campaign and new Spartan Ops episodes are still a blast, and getting a party together for some MP action is great way to spend an evening. It doesn't do anything to break the mold or take any chances, but there is something to be said for not fixing what isn't broken either. Halo 4 isn't going to change your mind if you weren't a fan already. But for fans or those on the fence then I would certainly recommend at least giving a try. For a new studio trying to fill some pretty big shoes 343 certainly could have done a whole lot worse :3

What could I say that hasn't been said already....RE6 is a piece of **** That about sums it up. The game tries to throw in every modern game cliche and convention in the desperate hope of appealing to everyone, but is so unpolished and poorly designed that it cannot pull of anything well. Even if you can forget about the title and look at it as just another action third person shooter there is just nothing to see here that can't be found (and done much better) in any number of other games out there. It's just so ham fisted and poorly executed that I honestly wonder if anyone play tested it before release.

Deadlight5
Aug 2, 2012
Honestly....wait for a price drop. Things start out good with a very L4D feeling to the world and characters. Voice acting is decent although the main character, Randall Wayne, reactions randomly alternates between realistic and just plain bored. Gameplay is mostly solid with some light platforming and puzzle solving despite the sometimes wonky controls. Sadly, and perhaps fittingly, everything goes downhill as soon as you enter the sewers. Now as any fan of Spoony knows, sewer levels always **** apparently nobody told the folks at Tequila Works that info. Whoever at that studio thought it would be fun to send players through a gauntlet of trial-and-error death traps deserves a swift kick to the junk. There is simply no way to get through them your first time because they give zero margin for error, and you will have no way of knowing whats coming before it happens. Even if you happen to have the clairvoyance to know that the dual wall blades will come together instead of going in the same direction (like the previous visually identical pair you encountered!) you will still die constantly because Wayne only does what you want half the time. You have to be be perfect with timing your jumps or he will fall just short of a ledge he needed to grab. Oh and did I mention that Wayne can't **** all...instantly drowning in any body of water deeper than chest high. Even after you manage to drag yourself back to the surface these problems will hound you the entire remainder of the game. And that is what kills any enjoyment to be had here. What was a simple but fun zombie platformer action game just becomes a slog. You will die so often because of something you had no way of knowing would happen and given no time to react. It's not the good kind of challenge that comes from skill and mastery, it's just cheap deaths over and over until eventually figure out the one vague solution to move on. It really just starts to feel like artificial difficulty to pad the game out. As for the story the fact that its set in the mid 80's is barely touched on and hardly noticeable. The hidden collectibles offer some vague hints as to what caused the outbreak but its never really explained nor matters. And finally the ending was as predictable and stupid as the final segment leading up to it was frustrating. The ideas and beginning are pretty dang good, but is it worth paying $15? No. Wait for it to drop to $10 or (preferably) less. Or just play the free demo and leave it at that...

Do you like piloting mechs and customizing their gear? Do you like tower defense games? Or do you just like to blow **** up? If you answered yes to any of these you will love Trenched! Double Fine have made a very fun and polished hybrid mech/tower defense game with even some RPG elements mixed in. While it can be played alone where Trenched really shines is with a group of friends. With up to three friends you can cover more ground and specialize each members trenches to compliment each other. This is exactly what a sequel should do: keeping what works while adding enough changes to make it fresh. The in game graphics and cutscenes look amazing without the obvious difference between them like most games. The gameplay is the classic SC but with modern tweaks and upgrades to make it even better. I don't understand why some people complain about that. Those same people would complain that Blizz should have kept things the same if they had radically altered the gameplay. If you go into SC2 expecting DoW or WiC then yeah you'll be disappointed. And if that's what you want then go play those games instead.

Purely and simply this is NOT Command and Conquer. No base building, no resource management, and no strategy at all. Just pump out a bunch of cannon fodder and if they die just pump out a few more at no cost. Joe Kucan is the only noteworthy actor and even he phones it in. The cutscenes are just bad and not in the usual so cheesy its good way. The DRM is just the cherry on this giant **** sundae. As a strategy game it's below average at best, and as a C&C game it's EA taking the franchise behind the shed and putting both barrels between it's eyes.
