Daemon X Machina has a lot of personality when it comes to moment-to-moment action, but everything else sometimes feels like an afterthought. [Issue #42 – October 2019, p. 72]

There’s much to applaud about Daemon X Machina. The third-person mech action game delivers an experience unlike any other on Nintendo Switch, thanks to the striking mech designs and red-drenched world merging with combat that can readily thrill in the game’s many large-scale encounters. However, shortcomings such as the convoluted plot and repetition let it down – holding it back from reaching the brilliance that Marvelous nearly achieved.

The best description is this is basically Armored Core X Gundam. It has great mech and character customizations, fast and chaotic combat and a good enough story. If you have a Switch and are a mech fan then this game is a must buy.
5
overall decent game, except when you have to use mechanics what rarely are used, especially mechanics what generally aren't used on combat yet you are required to do them in the final battle of the game

Never played a Game THAT bad and i played VCB - Why City. Such bad Gamedesign i got stuck because no more enemys spawned.

The mech-fighter genre is sorely underpopulated. It's been over twenty years since their heyday, and we're long overdue a new juggernaut title that shows off the new technology and design tools available to modern gaming studios. Unfortunately, Dameon X machina aint that. If this game were released as-is in the year 2000 it would still have played second fiddle to Armored Core 2. The enemies are bland, the controls are unsatisfying, and overall combat is an absolute snoozefest. The only decent thing about the game is mech customization, which - if you ignore the fact that all chassis run on the same skeleton - is quite vast. The gameplay is honestly just overshadowed, though, by the games FFF production standards. What is FFF? Imagine a AAA game, and it's the opposite of that. The cringeworthy writing and dialogue is only made worse by the dirt-cheap localization. I cannot understate just how bad the presentation of this game is. The music, characters, and foley work simply ****. TLDR: If you don't mind a game set in an ugly brown world populated by a caste of bland clichés that you won't care about, and if you don't mind playing the game on mute, you might find something that scratches the anime 'mech fighter itch but is not innovative or even well-polished.

Daemon X Machina sets the bar for robot action games. The addictive mecha fighting is almost flawless, but it's complemented by so many other incredible parts to the game. There's a rich, unique world filled with incredible and memorable characters, endless and addictive customisation, gorgeous visuals and a jaw-dropping soundtrack. Daemon X Machina rarely stumbles, and even when it did, I still couldn't help but be impressed by this amazing new experience.

There’s no denying that Marvelous can make a game, but to make a mech simulator of this calibre... That I didn't expect. I was pleasantly surprised and Daemon X Machina is proof of just how well Marvelous can execute on great ideas. With the Armored Core series currently on hold, the void of its absence can finally be filled with this highly customisable and equally story-driven experience.

LOVE this game. Runs great and plays even better. Story is not half bad either. Yea it takes a couple of hrs to really get into it but its worth it. Looks great ,things are pretty on that end. Some ppl have issues with it but i found it so much fun. Now if we can get Madworld back on the Switch that would be perfect. Great job NIntendo!

Daemon X Machina allows us to create our own giant robots, select between multiple weapons and engage in frantic combat with other pilots and enemy creatures... but the control scheme is complicated and missions feel too similar.

At its core Daemon X Machina is a solid mech action game that controls well and gives the player a generous helping of customisation options. Its mission structure can get repetitive, and its plot is so difficult to grasp it may as well be soaked in grease, but as long as you’re willing to put up with these and get through its initially bewildering array of gauges and icons you should have a good time with it.

Daemon X Machina is a frustrating game. Because, on one hand, it has everything a real robot anime lovers is looking for. But most of the time, the game is sluggish, with terrible gunfeel and repetitive missions.

All that’s cool about flying a giant world-saving robot has been executed in the most leaden, user-unfriendly, nonsensical manner possible.

This game is probably one of my favourites on switch. It is action packed mecha goodness. The story is great and the controls of the mech and person are fantastic. 10/10

Armored core-like games are disappeared from the market even if people love them, this one is a try to revive the genre but it fails because they tried to make it more casual-friendly ruining almost all aspects of it.

Bad story, boring and repetitive gameplay. I will never try out another mech game, if this one is claimed to be a good one. Totally wasted my money. DO NOT recommend! Worst Switch "exclusive" so far.

generally alright game, but, BUT there some weird things what could be improved upon the enemies are either weaklings or move like crazy then the bloody final boss requiring you to use a mechanic you never or rarely use on the rest of the game, and there is also what the hp and dmg of the final boss are simply stupid, forcing you to change completely how you played the whole game before that point
SummaryThe future of mech-actions games is here. Defend the planet and defeat corrupted A.I. controlled robots using your Arsenal, a fully customizable mechanized battle suit. Choose and equip your Arsenal with a multitude of weapons, obtain more from downed enemy Arsenals, and swap them on the fly to suit your strategy in the face of ever-chan... Read More
