I went into this game hoping for a fun experience like I had with DIablo and Torchlight and I came away disappointed. I couldn't even get through the first dungeon. First of the UI is less than intuitive. I kept having to hunt around for my equipment for my equipment screen. If there was a keyboard shortcut for it it wasn't obvious. Also the leavers and such in the dungeon were hard to see because they blended into the walls. When asked to find three pentagrams on the floor I spent over half an hour searching for them because they blended into the floor. It also would've been nice if they highlighted when I moused over them, but they didn't. Also a quick select bar would've been nice, it sure would've saved me from dieing against that first boss. Which brings me to the final straw that killed the game for me. When the afor mentioned boss killed me I kinda expected some sort of Game Over screen to come up or a prompt asking me to retry or reload my last save or something, but nothing of the sort came up. Instead the game just sat there with the Boss dancing around my corpse. I don't care if this is a smaller developer, this is not performance. I expected better esp. considering all the rave reviews this game got.

It's not bad, but the mining gets tedious and boring and finding anything useful is like rolling the dice. Once you start the game you're dumped into the game world with little to no idea as to what you're supposed to do and no instructions. Your 'guide' doesn't exactly provide much in the way of help either. If I hadn't seen a video on this game by Totalbiscuit I'd have had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. As I mentioned finding useful materials is a shot in the dark... literally. You dig around at random hoping to find something useful which gets tedious and boring. When night rolls around if you're not down in the depths your options are to try and fight off waves monsters or hide in your house (if you managed to build one) and hiding in your house till morning is boring, but trying to fight off waves of monsters in the dark is a nightmare.

This game was really well done. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. The story doesn't really make any sense, but who cares, were here for the gameplay, right? And the game plays really well. The recreating of the stages for both classic and modern Sonic was done beautify. The only major let down is the face that because modern Sonic and Classic Sonic play so differently and yet the stages look so similar it's easy to forget which one you're playing as which can lead to disaster. It's also a shame that Sega didn't choose to recreate more classic stages for this game. Given that they had 20 years worth of material to work with the small handful of stages we were given seems almost ludicrous. And I still can't wrap my head around the fact that they included Crisis City from Sonic 2006. Still I thoroughly enjoyed this game and I'm sure anyone who likes Sonic games will too.

I've only just started playing, but so far I can say that the visuals are amazing however the game is let down by a number of issues. For one the control scheme is not very intuitive. Having to constantly rotate the camera with the right mouse button in order to turn my character is rather awkward when I'd much rather be able to move left and right with WASD. Another major issue I have is with the respawn rate. Now I already have issues with MMOs making me feel like my impact on the game world is non-existent, but this is really driven home the enemies literally respawn seconds after I've killed them. At least in WoW it takes a good 5-10 minutes before they'll respawn. This is pretty much just a first impression review, but from that first impression I'd say there are many areas where this game could use some improvement.
