I have to admit that this whole movie was one where I really didn't care about any of the characters here. I left the theater after an hour. This wasn't enjoyable to watch. You felt like a 3rd (or in this case 5th) wheel at someone else's house where the main couple hated each other and the other couple was somewhat happy (at least on the surface). Then at some point in the first hour, they split off where the husband of one was with the wife of the other... and it felt like forced character development.... The posters and some of the reviews said, "funniest movie of the year" and I really didn't laugh at anything.... I had high hopes for this one when I heard comedy and then heard Olivia Wilde directed it since I really enjoyed Booksmart. Whatever magic that movie had seems just lost here. Like she's trying to go somewhere and most of us really didn't want to go. Olivia Wilde's character was faking being happy and Seth Rogan's character was basically who Seth Rogan always seems to be. You kind of felt like you had an idea where it was going but I honestly didn't really care. The whole time, they just stayed in the small SF house... and to be honest, I was just hoping someone did something that was actually funny. The only people who seemed to be laughing were women in the crowd who were there with their boyfriends / husbands... and I guess it was more that they could relate to the situation... and maybe that's the issue. I haven't been... I never wanted to be... they're miserable and they just felt stuck where they were... but it was all just two couples you kind of wish would all go home, one husband who looked like he wanted to get away and one wife who seemed to care more that other people were happy with her... and yeah, I know people like that. I just don't go to their house.... same applies here.

The plot of the movie wasn't that amazing..... but coming off the 2nd one, this one is a general improvement over that by far. The first one was about on par with this from a script perspective. Not Earth **** and kind of felt like it was trying to be a computerized Wizard of Oz..... So to hear people say this was forgettable, they all were! But this is the least forgettable of the 3 which is great. The time flew by for me... some of it was kind of predictable but then so is every Marvel movie lately including Fantastic Four. It's still worth seeing... both of them.... The effects were really quite good. 3D comes across decent here and some bits were clearly meant for 3D because guns quite often come out of the screen. Anyway, I loved Jared Leto in this. It worked for me... Hassan Minhaj was also respectable here... the female lead seemed miscast but she wasn't terrible (not Spielberg's girlfriend in Temple of Doom terrible by any means)... There never really felt like there was any suspense... you basically knew where it was going but it was still good enough to watch. I'd buy it when it comes out on video... I'd just say that it was better than I expected... and that's saying something after how boring Tron Legacy was. That movie was just one lightcycle scene good and the rest felt stretched and un-done.

The Naked Gun2

I'm not sure if everyone else saw a different movie than I did. Maybe if you didn't see the previous 3 Naked Gun movies that you'd think this was inventive comedy. It's like how Airplane 2 tried to mimic what Airplane 1 did and felt like when Richard Lester took the reigns from Richard Donner in Superman 2 and 3... and destroying the franchise. The jokes were pretty predictable and fell flat. Even a cameo from Weird Al didn't help much... maybe it got better in the 2nd half but from reviews I saw, it didn't... it's just a weaker script and not really very funny. Not edgy, not inventive... just dumb humor and idiotically written If a comedy can't make you laugh even once in the first 30 minutes, it's not really a good comedy. The sad fact is that the jokes you get in the preview are really the best ones in the first 30 minutes.... and that's saying something because even those weren't very funny. As far as saying that Abrams and the Zuckers had a part in writing this is a bit misleading. From what one of the Zuckers said in an interview, that had a completely different script which apparently was funnier than this one. After turning it in, they heard nothing... and then the news hit that Seth MacFarlane was producing this with a new script. I don't believe they wrote any part of this and I'd imagine they'd want to remain far clear from any credit for this one.

Not the best in the Marvel universe and despite some good performances from Annette Bening, Lude Law, Samuel L Jackson.... the movie had mild bits of humor which were good.... a few bad special effects with Goose, and a battle scene in space which was not as good as it should've been. The fight scenes were good with Brie and I thought she did a decent job in the role, to be honest. The movie just seemed like it should've been amazing but like Black Panther, it seemed to just be an explanation as to why this new character was in the next movie. And hopefully like with Black Panther, Wakanda was so much better in Avengers 3 than in Black Panther. Here's hoping her character gets a better treatment in Avengers 4.

There were some moments where it was genuinely funny and other times where it felt like the jokes should've been better. The script wasn't that great, but it was fun enough and it's good to see Melissa McCarthy not overacting.... she and her puppet partner carried the movie well enough for it to be enjoyable to where I'm glad I saw it. I honestly wasn't going to see it at all until I heard Brian Henson directed it, so I figured there'd be some good laughs in it... and there pretty much were some moments.... but some bits just didn't work and the script was kind of lacking. Still, there are better ways to spend an evening.... and it was definitely much better than the last movie I saw, The Spy Who Dumped Me or whatever that movie was.
