Incredibles 2 is a movie that could have been made redundant by time. Instead, it lightens the mood in a world gone super-serious.

Incredibles 2 hardly shakes the foundations of what a superhero movie should be, but it’s a raucous crowd-pleaser that serves up enough mouthwateringly beautiful eye candy to delight kids and grownups alike.

I thought Brad Bird added a new perception to the franchise of a storyline as I felt it didn’t fall back from the previous film it really left off to a different storyline as it brings a lot of electric upgrades of new stunts, strategies and new characters of Vigilante’s as I liked how Brad Bird brings a storyline to focus for justice on all Vigilantes and bring them back from hiding was an absolute appealing storyline and also focusing more on Elastigirl to spice up the storyline.

This follow-up is every bit the start-to-finish sensation as the original, and you'll be happy to know that Bird's subversive spirit is alive and thriving.

Be sure to make family time for Bird’s flawed but dazzling sequel. “Superheroes suck,” says Violet. No, they most certainly don’t.

Constrained by expectations and established character/plot limitations, Incredibles 2 lacks the freshness and ingenuity displayed by its predecessor. It’s good, fun family entertainment but it’s not incredible.

The action sequences in Incredibles 2, which was edited by Stephen Schaffer, are elegantly conceived and fluidly executed, as good as anything we’re likely to see on screen this year, in animation or live action, which only makes the rest of the movie seem that much clunkier by comparison.

Incredibles 2 was 14 years in the making, and it feels almost that long watching it.

The first incredible was a fantastic family favorite but the sequel loses alot of the heart, wit, warmth and entertainment that made the first one so great. The writing really suffers here as Disney attempts to squeeze too much into the format, sacrificing character development and a well connected plot for lazy political and social messaging to make up for the mediocre script. Powers are inconsistent and our heros are able to wield them only to the extent it serves to be a plot device. The writers clearly want to showcase Mrs Incredible as the main plot driver but also want to focus on Mr. Incredible as the stay at home dad. The result is a poorly developed main story line and while it does add a stronger secondary story line, it doesn't make up the difference. The first one had a great, in depth, main plot with enough super hero family experiencing regular life touches wrapped together by a great 2nd and final act. Disney pushes the Mr incredible challenged as a dad for too much screen time, resulting in an undeveloped and weakly written main character and villain arc. Not all the charm is gone and there are humorous and enjoyable moments (I would have desired to see a greater role for Frozone) and one character that doesn't lose her shine is Edna. The final act is quite good however the villain is extremely predictable and Disney relies on the same "genius inventor turned bad" plot idea but in a far less intricately woven and far clumsier delivery. Overall Incredibles 2 is not a bad movie, but falls far short of the bar set by the first one.

Picking up immediately after the first film, we find Bob, Helen and the kids still navigating the tricky waters of superhuman illegality, despite saving the world in a handful of very public conflicts. It's great to see the whole cast together again, from headliners Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson to supporting players like Samuel L. Jackson, and the effects have never looked better. Pixar almost always seems to one-up themselves in that respect, but it still bears mentioning: Incredibles 2 is a real sensory spectacle. The primary story is a let-down, though, like something I'd expect to find in a filler issue between big events. After fourteen years away, I would've hoped for something with a bit more emotional punch, an adventure that feels more essential and complex. Instead, it loosely apes a few smaller subplots from the first film, swaps the headline roles, tosses in a few lazy, telegraphed twists and then wraps it all up on an empty happy note. Visually dazzling, with a good sense of humor, but generally quite hollow and, sadly, almost completely missing the warm, witty commentary on classic superhero stereotypes that made the original work on so many levels. This felt like a B-team's admirable, but failed, effort to step up to the big leagues.

Incredibles 2 was the biggest let down of a sequel ever, with its terrible villain, lack of theme, WAY too many curse words, I can't even see why people actually LIKE this cinematic disaster. 3/10.

I, like everyone else, loved the first movie and couldn't wait for this sequel. After seeing the trailer i was a bit worried that the plot wasn't going to be very interesting, however, the original trailer for incredibles 1 was awful too, so i wasn't too worried. Unfortunately the trailers were correct this time, the plot of this movie is simply terrible. Despite taking place literal seconds after the first film, none of the characters have seemed to have grown or progressed from the beginning of the first. The flaws they all had at the start of incredibles 1, are all still issues in this film. The only real difference is mr incredible and Elastigirl have had their roles reversed for no real reason. The one story line i enjoyed was with bob struggling to look after his children and be "incredible" as he is expected to be. Its just a shame that is never looked into deeper. It would be far more interesting to spend some more time developing his character to come to grips with the fact he cant always fix everything, or solve every problem, but instead its resolved by the next scene. Turning back to the plot, the motivations of the villain make no sense, at all. It doesn't help the villain is also extremely boring and extremely predictable. The character of syndrome in the first film makes this film feel like it was written by a child, and outside of the quality of it's animation, this film really has nothing going for it. 3/10 - Needed a whole plot rewrite to even be worth making :(
