Brilliant. An example of gaming done right, without resorting to violence yet still exciting. Imaginative and intelligent plot, music and gameplay with equal parts drama, introspection, loneliness and action. And comedy, of course!

Enjoyed it - looked great on the PC, voice acting was top notch, script was good. Really fun...then it ended. Out of nowhere, the game was over and credits rolling. Would have loved another 5-10 hours of gameplay. Can't speak for the multiplayer as I don't really do that, but the SP was great - just short.

The 1-4 point scores here in the user section are likely knee-jerk reactions from players expecting something different. If one doesn't like older games or understand the heritage of Falcom, Oath in Felghana will not make you happy. This is a port of a re-imagining of a very old game (phew), so the target audience here is more likely 20- and 30-somethings who have their finger on the pulse of import gaming - a small but loyal audience as you can see by the great divide in use scores here. Most modern gamers will miss the point of the game, or feel it is archaic or unforgiving. Ys comes from a different era, one that many long for, so this release is kind of like finding an oasis in the desert to some. All told, this new version is nice, and the voice acting and swappable PC-98/X68000 soundtraacks (beauty!) adds some value to the package, but graphically and control-wise, it is substantially uglier than the much prettier PC version. Aside from Ys V, the plot and scope of Ys has never been especially epic, and I feel Ys III, which Felghana is based on, has the weakest story of the whole series, so there is validity to that criticism. XSeed should not be advertising the game as a grand adventure, because it's not. Rather, the story is a small, localized conflict with silly cliches, but it serves its purpose as an excuse to run around the island. Also, keep in mind, the plot was originally written in 1989, so leave some forgiveness for the retro factor. A great game when viewed from the right perspective.

Well, this is to counter the knee-jerk 0/10 score below. Dislike the game as you may, a zero? Really? You'd rate this in the same category as Big Rigs? The short version: the game is great fun. No, it's not a strategy game, but there have been plenty of non-strategy titles in the Front Mission series before. The mech action is solid, fast, and fun, music is great, and graphics are not all that bad. Protip: not every game has to have cutting edge graphics to look good! Yes, the plot and voice acting are silly and poorly written, and a huge disgrace compared to Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. Where FM5 was a mature, well-told tale that can stand against the best war movies, FME has a childish low-budget anime story (which one could argue has it's own perks as well). But seeing as the cutscenes are skippable and the core game is a lot of fun, I fail to see how this can score lower than a 6/10. Fun title and well worth it to this long-time FM fan. 8/10 for me.

Nearly flawless game. Shadows are strangely rendered and can be distracting even on the highest settings, but otherwise it is a fantastic ride through a beautiful country in a beautiful time period. Would love more games to take place in such a rich setting. Music is superb and haunting. DRM is obnoxious, and unfairly mean to customers without internet access, but rating this game a 0 because of a decision made by the big suits is not only immature, but unfair to the masterpiece underneath.

Loved the game, but there is certainly missed opportunity for greatness. Plot was fantastic, but the impact of the game's events doesn't sink in until the end of the game, which makes a second playthrough more appealing so you can spot the cues this time around. Music and graphics were superb once the texture bug was patched, and the atmosphere, while nowhere near Metro 2033's, was good. Would have loved more puzzles and a much stronger stealth element. Sequel, please!

Great game. On a technical level, loading times are nil, framerate is smooth, menus and buttons are user-friendly. The gameplay is the star here and it's fast, furious and fun, and perfect for a portable system. Think Secret of Mana but refined and much faster, and you have an idea of the gameplay. Quick-switching between characters is a breeze and very fun, and the boss battles are epic. Music, as with most Falcom games, is excellent, though not quite up to the standard set by Ys I & II Complete. Only negatives would be slightly grainy visuals and a slightly saggy plot, but Ys games have never been about huge narratives, instead focusing on tight gameplay and great music.
