Scott Pilgrim vs. the World9
Feb 25, 2011
Creative, witty, and visually striking. Scott Pilgrim is a blast to watch and I picked up even more subtle jokes and pop culture references hiding within scenery in the second viewing. Maybe the best comedy of 2010?

The King's Speech10
Feb 11, 2011
As everyone else has said, it's amazing. Flawless acting and settings immerse you. Beautifully done, deserving of it's 12 academy award nominations. Social Network ro King's Speech? very tough call

Dreamcatcher1
Feb 11, 2011
Recommended only to those few sadistic people who enjoy watching aliens pop out of butt-holes and bite off human genitalia, complemented by poorly animated martians with british accents. Artistically bankrupt. Pathetic acting. Avoid at all costs.

Gone Baby Gone9
Feb 11, 2011
Thoroughly disturbing. Well filmed. Well acted. This is not a movie for the lighthearted. See it and judge for yourself

Dragon Wars: D-War2
Feb 11, 2011
Completely brainless with one or 2 creative little set pieces. Avoid D-War... I mean just look at the name. It's dragons breaking crap for an hour and some...

Metropolis (re-release)10
Feb 10, 2011
The single most influential film in history. Modern sci-fi would not even exist if it wasnt for this masterpiece. The worlds look amazing and completely unique. Camera work and editing is creative and 1 of a kind. Brigitte Helm could have one of the best female performances of all time, her facial expressions as the machine are insane. One of the best films of all time no contest. If you say otherwise your mentally incapable of viewing film. People said this movie is "to formulaic". THATS BECAUSE IT CREATED THE FORMULA! It was 1927 for goodness sake. The first of it's kind. I watched it again now in 2011 and it still creates emotional impact on the viewer. Not only one of the best films of all time, one of the greatest pieces of art of all time.

Moon6
Feb 9, 2011
In short it's a well acted, atmospheric, low budget, and extremely predictable movie to be quickly forgotten. A mixed bag of SFX to boot.

It's Complicated4
Feb 9, 2011
It's not complicated, it's not well made, and it's not worth your time. Basic run of the mill chick flick themes and ideas trying to masquerade as something more by getting good actors to do bad work. a couple of mildly enjoyable moments (thanks to Alec Baldwin) can't save this one.

Furry Vengeance1
Feb 9, 2011
Absolutely pathetic. Save the environment rubbish with pathetic acting and not a single good joke. Brendan Frasier could be in better movies if he wanted to. (look at "The Mummy", or "Crash") but he just keeps taking these crap jobs and gets laughed at by the world in all the wrong ways. shame on you anybody who had anything to do with this.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones5
Feb 9, 2011
Hayden Christensen is one of the worst modern actors I can think of. To say that him and Natalie Portman (who had a surprisingly poor performance despite her being a fantastic actress) had any chemistry in this movie would be simply absurd. There are some pretty set pieces now and again, and it pushes the star wars story along nicely, but overall not a good movie. In fact its easily the worst of all 6. It should also be noted that Anakins speech about "sand" is one of the LAMEST, most PATHETIC, PUTRID, DESPICABLE, pieces of dialogue ive ever seen on film. I wanted to vomit all over George Lucas and burn down the theater. And i'm usually a calm person...

A Bug's Life9
Feb 9, 2011
Yes the plot is a complete rip-off of seven samurai, and for that it loses a mark. HOWEVER with animation this beautiful, characters this interesting, and voicework this good, it's hard not to like. Pixar are widely considered the greatest family film makers, and this is why.

Gosford Park8
Feb 9, 2011
I won't blame you for turning this movie off after the first hour. It has the LONGEST set up I have ever seen in a movie. Once the murder FINALLY happens is it all worth it? absolutely. It's intelligent and very well acted, with awesome twists and turns. The setting is also perfectly executed with scenery and costumes that are flawless. But the fact that I was, well, completely bored for the first portion of the movie means I simply cannot give this higher than an 8/10. See it and judge for yourself. Tedious start and a truly mesmerizing second half

The Triplets of Belleville10
Feb 9, 2011
My favourite cartoon film of time. Beautiful art direction and animation, creative and original story, deep emotional undertones and symbolism. Amazing from start to finish. One of the most catchy theme songs of all time. Do yourself a favor and check this out

Heat10
Feb 8, 2011
Two of the most talented actors in the history of film in a head to head fight with each other. That's basically what your going to expect from "Heat". However underneath it is so much more, these are deep and intelligent characters who struggle with society and it's definitions of morality. At the end you will care for both Pacino (The Cop) and DeNiro (The Robber) as they have a lot of smart things to teach us about human nature and people in general. This is all thanks to fantastic dialogue and acting. Absolutely worth seeing, one of my favourites from 1995

Terminator Salvation6
Feb 8, 2011
Everything about this movie is average. Acting, story, cinematography, sound... actual the special effects are mostly good, but still. This movie is nowhere close to the caliber of the original terminator movies. It has its flashy and cool moments but in the end feels shallow and mostly forgettable. The governators cameo was amusing. Overall it's better than alot of whats in the theaters these days, but don't go out of your way to see it

Black Swan10
Feb 8, 2011
A dark, twisted, haunting masterpiece. If Portman doesnt win her first oscar here I will be surprised. Aronofsky is one of the best directors currently in hollywood.

Over time it seems Nicholas Cage's acting has got worse and worse. His movies quickly following. A plot filled with so many horrendous plot holes I couldn't even start, bad SFX, terrible acting, failure to suspend disbelief, an ending that has gone a million miles off track from where it began. Seriously it starts as a grade B horror film, then turns into some kind of overdone soap opera episode, and then finally into a certain very famous Spielberg movie (you'll know when you see it). Some of the dialogue is almost the same by the end. The audience was laughing all the way out of the theater at how moronic the whole thing was. so for those theater leaving laughs I will bump this movie up to a 1/10

Shutter Island4
Jan 13, 2011
I predicted the big plot twist to this movie in the trailer months before its release. THE TRAILER. when the narrator says, "you have to find the missing patient" while a weak and disturbed looking Leonardo DiCaprio stares into a mirror looking as though to question his identity IT IS OVER. One of the most overrated films in the history of cinema. Leo has acted better before (but hes okay). Scorsese has directed better before (but hes okay) everything about this movie is completely average. except for the abysmal plot. By the end of the film I was saying lines before the actors were, to which the guy behind me said "Stop spoiling it I haven't seen it yet", to which I replied "NEITHER HAVE I!!!" recommended only to brainless mainstream leeches with no appreciation for creativity, originality, or storytelling.

Catfish9

Fascinating to say the least. A profoundly moving look into the technological age and the effects it can have on people and society.

Dinner for Schmucks5
Jan 13, 2011
Steve Carell is always funny, but this time he's working with unusually bland and predictable script, even for mainstream comedies. There were a FEW laughs to be found, but overall it was quite forgettable in every way. The "Artist" in this movie is one of the most horrendously unfunny characters I have seen in a long time.

The Green Mile9
Jan 13, 2011
Tom Hanks and Michael Clark Duncan are amazing. The script is creative and often powerful. Running at just over 3 hours long I felt there were a few scenes that could have easily been cut to aid in pacing. Overall a very good movie

Apocalypse Now10
Jan 12, 2011
My personal favorite film of all time. It changed the way I view film, art, and even life. The acting is flawless, it has the most beautiful cinematography in the history of film, the messages are powerful and haunting. It stays with you the rest of your life. Which is something not many films can claim.

Disaster Movie0
Jan 12, 2011
Easily the worst film of 2008. One of the worst films of all time. Disaster movie has no brains, no talent, no right to exist. The most offensively horrific film since "Monster A-Go Go", and that was over 40 years ago
Jan 12, 2011
The Fighter9
Jan 12, 2011
One of the better sports films of the last decade, The Fighter combines great acting, exciting fight sequences, and a powerful script to make an overall great film. Likely to be nominated for best picture at the Oscars.

The Social Network10
Jan 12, 2011
One of the most entertaining true stories ever put in theaters. It's Intelligent funny, and with some surprisingly powerful moments. Jesse Eisenberg is sure to receive an Oscar nomination. David Fincher ads another classic to his already impressive repertoire.

True Grit9
Jan 12, 2011
A fantastic remake of an already great western. 'True Grit' is a must see for any fan of the genre. Jeff Bridges manages to outperform even John Wayne's Oscar winning performance. With many truly surprising and hilarious moments. One of the overall best films of 2010. My only complaint would be the slightly out of place ending.
