A faithful retelling of one of the greatest horror games ever made. Visuals are terrific as is the tone and atmosphere.
Extra added content is a bonus. Enjoy!!
A tour de force of true horror combined with fun action. The portions with Grace are terrifying, and then the sections with Leon allow for shoot em up catharsis.
Harkens back to the brilliant and series saving Resident Evil 7.
Bravo Capcom !!
One of the truly great adventure games of all time. The bike mechanic is brilliant, the voice acting and the movements by the lead actor are fantastic, the fear when you run into a pack of these things is palpable, and the upgrades are a ton of fun.
I played it to 100% on release and I will again.
Is the story a little all over the place? Yes but that doesn’t detract from the fun not even a little
This game was treated so unfairly.
I love riding the broken road again and am hoping for a sequel.
Great job Bend Studio
Very enjoyable Resident Evil entry with fun gameplay, mechanics. It’s also actually quite difficult. The only real downsides are a sloppy story and a shaky script. But the script we’re used to , right?
Solid Resident Evil game!
I’m really enjoying it. It is a slow mechanic survival horror that is all stealth. Couple of tricky mechanics, like the sound traps lol but overall very solid. Engaging story as well.
Well done!!
I had tried the original but it was just annoying and not intuitive. This remaster fixes all that and makes for a really fun ride. As for calling the game woke, I couldn't care less that there is not an erotic zombie that is not how I get my kicks lol
Really enjoying it and will probably play the extra time as well. Excellent game
Cheers!!!
This is as pure a survival horror experience as you can get. I was never able to complete original because of inferior gameplay and combat. But this has all been brilliantly reworked to create a modern classic. Bravo Bloober team. They had their doubters. No more . Here’s hoping they remake the rest of them. An absolutely chilling game. Don’t play in the dark. Music very unsettling.
Bravo.
One word. Overrated. I’ve been playing survival horror games since the beginning. Everyone talks about how great this game is. I can’t disagree more. Even by PS2 standards, the graphics are horrific. The fog is not scary or creepy, it’s an excuse not to have a real town.
The buildings are all the same and almost all are unexplorable.
The voice acting makes RE1 look like King Lear.
The monsters are all the same and there is NOTHING frightening about the stupid radio, it is only annoying.
Here’s hoping the remake can at least keep me awake.
This series can’t shine Resident Evil’s shoes .
Just one person’s opinion .
This is a very solid old school style survival horror game. The visuals are very good and the story slowly draws you in. It is not a shoot em up, think old school RE or Silent Hill. People complain about the combat being imperfect, but apparently those same people never played Silent Hill 2.
There are even some subtle nods to Evil Within. It is very creepy as you go to mysterious new areas. The puzzles are fun and I am really enjoying it. If you like old style survival horror you will enjoy this. Cheers!!
Well I love survival horror and I LOVE Alien franchise ESPECIALLY first film so I so wanted to love this. But this game has no rhyme or reason. Missions are completely murky and not explained. The map is HORRIFIC and gives you no idea where you are going or why.
Items are so sporadic and then they make it next to impossible to craft something.
Robots can kill you with three grabs and it takes 18 melees to take them down. Wopeee this is so much fun.
Also, love the idea of 80s look, but it is wasted here . There are endless corridors that go nowhere and have nothing. There is almost never a reward for going off track, and the game does a terrible job telling you what track you should be on.
Story is really lame. You are on a ship with angry humans and an alien but no explanation is given for who these people are or how the alien got there.
Really poor poor story telling.
The characters have zero color or personality.
The game can kill you whenever it wants with no logic.
I don’t understand positive reviews on this one . It’s like banging your head against the wall over and over.
Hard pass.
Terrific; Capcom shows once again how DLC oughta be. The grapple mechanic is a lot of fun, different methods to accomplish the mission, and it ties the storyline together.
Bravo!! 10/10
Ignore the fake review bot bombers. Capcom has done it again. This is what a real remake looks like. Loving every minute of it. Cheers Capcom! Code Veronica next please!
I have been playing survival horror for a long time, and Dead Space remake is a must play for fans of the genre. Gameplay, graphics, tension are all top notch. Lots of great jump scares. The story is a little muddled, and the ending seems choppy at best, but I loved it overall. Really hoping second and third are remade. Bravo.
Really really good game. Excellent gameplay, characters, script. Story is a little out there, but not a problem.
Ignore the haters; this is a really fun survival game and I look forward to playing sequel now.
Cheers!
Disagree with the negative reviews here. Shadows of Rose a lot of fun I like the freezing mechanic and the instructions/help from beyond.
Solid chapter of DLC and I recommend for any RE fan
Let’s stop with the nonsense of the 0 scores. We are talking about the second greatest franchise video game history any platform. Period . So, just stop.
Players and buyers do need to be aware that this is more of a remaster than a remake. If this is your first time playing , or a fan of the series, it’s a no brainer.
If you are more casual fan, you can stick with PS4 remaster there is nothing wrong with that game.
Graphics and accessibility improved are improved here
Quick note; Sarah looks better in the PS4 version.
Enjoy.
This game has some interesting characteristics… but in the end it falls way short. The acting is stiff, the script is silly, and the story is muddled beyond belief. During a tense stand off, two characters are fighting for their lives and then start yucking it up with dumb jokes. Really??!! The story tries so hard to be different, but creates artificial twists constantly. The characters are also wooden and **** monsters keep uttering inane non sequitors like “farming is good for you!!” Resident Evil it ain’t.
Bravo! Capcom hits its stride with RE Village. With both 7 and 8, Capcom has absolutely managed to capture the feeling of the older, classic games. This has horror and action elements, and it is practically a love letter to RE4, one of the greatest entries in the series. After a disastrous game with RE6, Capcom has completely righted the ship with 7,8 and the two remakes. Being a fan of the series since day 1; I couldn’t be happier. RE8 is one of the top 5 all time entries in the series and a 10/10.
You are new to this game. You choose a strong opening character. 5 minutes into the game half your health is taken away permanently. You start the next level . You are doing well and progressing through the level. Something happens where you misstep a bit and you die. Guess what? You are sent back to the very beginning of the level, to go through the same areas and enemies again. You make it further this time but three enemies overwhelm you. You die. Guess what ? Right back to the beginning. Wheeeee thus is so much fun!! Not so much a game as an excercise in anger and wasting your time. The 1 is for the graphics. Completely overrated. You have been warned....
This is a solid survival horror game that could’ve been even much better. The scares are genuine, and this is no easy game that is for certain. I’ve been playing survival horror for 24years and this one is very very frightening at points. Also the ability to craft and level up is solid. The storyline, when I finally read the whole thing afterwards , is quite good. The problem lies in the fact that the player is not told many many things along the way. The story and writing are very cryptic . I have no idea with a good story like this why they decided not to tell the player more clearly what was going on. So, it can be frustrating at times to not know what is really happening. But make no mistake this game knows how to scare you and I enjoyed it very much. Onto the DLC and sequel!!
Forget the phony baloney low reviews. Brilliant continuation of the story. Very poignant and emotional. The best game of the PS4 era the same way it’s progenitor was the best of the PS3 generation. Bravo Naughty Dog
Ok I know I’m in the minority, but this game is simply overrated. You are bombarded with possible outfit, ammo, weapon upgrades but the game never clearly explains them. And then , despite multiple upgrades to multiple systems, you never really have a powerful weapon at your disposal. There are 12 different types of outfits ; yet none of them really protect you. I found the script really lacking as well. In the middle of a battle, the main character will mumble some inane comment about the snow that she’s made 100 times already. Combat is frustrating. Because the bow often inflicts minimal damage, you find yourself slogging through repetitive melee combat that , frankly, becomes boring. The music score is poor, with an annoying electronic thrum each and every of the 10,000 times you need to consult the map/crafting screens. The storyline is muddled and bogged down. This is a classic case of length/ open world not equaling greatness. Give me the 4 hour re3 remake, that actually has a flow and the action all makes sense, rather than 50,000 upgrades that in the end, leave you right back where you started because no one weapon can just put a hole into your enemy. People put this game in the same class as games like Zelda BOTW or The Last of us. I’m here to tell you that those games tower above HZD in all aspects.
The bike mechanic is terrific, the visuals are great, and even though it can be repetitive, I enjoyed every minute of it. The actor who played St. John was awesome. The only negative is that the story is never really fully realized and is a little jumpy. But do not let that stop you from this fantastic ride on the broken road.
This game completely changed the world of video games. The atmosphere is what drew me in, but the idea of quiet exploration to unwind a dramatic story is terrific. The game developers create a wonderful sense of time and place; a time of cassette mixes, riot grlllls , and without omnipresent mobile devices. Gone Home is unlike any game you’ve played before. Have an open mind, slow down, and enjoy. Oh and the cover art is among my favorite in a video game, ever.
One of the greatest survival horror games of all time. The only minor complaint is a muddled story. But effects, pacing, fear factor, , atmosphere all off the charts.
If you are a fan of the series, ignore any negative reviews. This game continues in the same vein of re2 remake. Not as great as re 2 but then again neither was the original. Well done, great graphics in the city, mechanics are very good. As for it being short, I don’t mind games that actually have an ending.
Bravo Capcom, bravo Jill Valentine, I Hope Code Veronica is next!!
