The movie is slow, but the characters and story are entertaining. This is not a movie that will have you on the edge of your seat just because there's not a lot going on. It's one of those movies where the idea itself isn't very novel, but the execution is above-average, so you enjoy the movie anyway.
This movie doesn't make sense. It's similar to Edward Scissorhands, but the characters in this movie aren't interesting. This movie isn't scary or funny. The only reason I can see someone wanting to watch this movie is just to appreciate the sheer absurdity that Tim Burton poured into this film.
Just about every scene in this movie is iconic. The characters are fantastic, the practical effects hold up well, and the action scenes are tense. I do wish the movie were a little longer, and that the relationship between Indy and Marion was more developed.
One of the best American movies ever made. It perfectly balances accurately portraying American history with celebrating America's heroes. The acting is outstanding all across the board. If you don't get goosebumps watching this movie, you're not a real American!
The writing was terrible, the story didn't make any sense, and they didn't bother inviting many of the original cast back for this one (despite this movie being nothing but a nostalgic cash grab). Keanu Reeves is here, but other than that it's hard to come up with reasons to like this movie.
The action scenes were good, but everything else ****. The plot didn't make any sense, and was paced poorly. There's a sex scene that lasts almost 10 minutes. The ending isn't clear. Most of the new characters are boring.
Ford and Jones do a great job in this one. I didn't like the cliche of the bad guys not killing their target when they have the chance, but other than that, this is a good movie. The acting and pacing were solid throughout.
This movie has some VERY strange dialogue between adult male characters and an underage girl. The plot itself is okay, but it doesn't really stand out in any way as a Ghibli film.
Django is a boring character. The plot in general is just way too cliche. Django is the wild west badass who blows away anyone who gets in his way. And unlike the Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns, the action is done in a way that is not very believable. If you want to just turn your brain off, this movie may be for you, but if you want a solid Western adventure, you'll want to look elsewhere.
The comedic style of this movie is almost identical to that of south park. It's offensive for the sake of being offensive, with little cleverness or plot to have any substantial value.
This film did a great job of telling a true story while still being entertaining. The action scenes are great, and the movie makes it very hard for you to not care about the wellbeing of the 4 men on the mission. The acting is also fantastic
It could've been much shorter, but what's here is good. The characters are likeable, and it frames the story in an entertaining way without rewriting history.
The character designs and animation quality are top-notch. Jack Skellington as the king of Halloween works well. My problems with the movie are that the story is all over the place, and it's so evenly split between Halloween and Christmas that it doesn't really feel like a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie.
It's a sequel to the original with quality that's almost identical. If you liked that one, you'll like this one. Mostly generic zombie movie with a couple cool scenes.
The quality of the stop-motion is the best part of the movie. The setting is disturbing, but never disturbing enough to be considered a horror movie. It's worth watching once, but once you know how things will play out, I don't see the benefit of watching it again.
Significantly better than the original. There's an actual plot that goes somewhere in this one. The characters are less annoying, and the humor is more along the lines of dad jokes than potty humor. It's worth watching the original so that you can enjoy this one.
The idea of a human stumbling into Dracula's castle is the best part of this movie. Everything else ****. The jokes are potty humor, and most of the characters are two-dimensional. Dracula and Mavis are cool characters, but Johnny is just annoying. Unfortunately this is one of those kids movies that seems to exclusively appeal to kids, which is disappointing because the idea behind this movie is so cool.
The character designs are atrocious, and the action scenes look like a kid playing with vampire-themed legos. By far the worst adaptation of Dracula I've ever seen.
Definitely one of the better Ghibli movies. I didn't like that the characters seemed like they were rushing their dialogue, but that may have been an issue with translation. The pacing of this movie is solid, the characters are great, and the environmentalist message feels very natural to the plot. This film is more graphic than other Ghibli films, but it doesn't feel forced or like it's being done only for shock value.
Like a lot of Ghibli films, I think this movie suffers from pacing issues. That being said the characters are likeable, the world feels very authentic, and the animation quality looks fantastic considering it was made in the mid 1980s.
This movie moves at a snail's pace. 90% of the runtime could be removed and it wouldn't have any effect on where the plot went. Don't waste your time with this one.
