In a genre known for endless knock-offs, a trend that includes Django’s 30-plus sequels, Corbucci’s film is notable not only for the artistry of its construction, but also for the underlying anger that fuels its political agenda.

Perhaps the most influential Italian Western ever. Franco Nero with his coffin, a clear and rather anti-Western production by Sergio Corbucci, a fantastic soundtrack and lots of shoot-outs. Corbucci manages to pack 90 minutes with one memorable scene after another without making the film seem overcrowded.Unfortunately, I watched the English dub, which really isn't very good. There are also a few moments, especially after the first shoot-out, that don't quite fit into the flow of the film.

Django is honestly a great spaghetti western and it's actually a great movie as well. The movie's got a pretty interesting story, which is set on the USA-Mexican border straight after the civil war. We get introduced to Django (Franco Nero) who's an ex-union soldier, who wants his vengeance on the Ku Klux Klan. The movie's acting from Franco Nero is actually pretty decent but apart from that, the rest of the actors/actress acting throughout this movie is very over the top. Also, the dialogue which is given from each character throughout this movie is good but it's nothing special or amazing. The pacing throughout this movie is alright. It could be a bit better for the builds up, which end up happening throughout this movie. Finally, the action sequences throughout this movie are very graphic and very clever and they're also very well done. Especially that one at the end, that one's honestly class. Overall, Django is honestly a great spaghetti western movie. It's got a pretty interesting story, some decent acting, some good dialogue, very graphic and very clever action sequences throughout.

Empire
The story isn't as strong as either Leone or Corbucci's best work, but the iconic imagery and solid central performance from Nero make it easy to see why this became a worldwide success.

Austin Chronicle
The first in a series of popular Django movies helped define the Italian tradition of spaghetti Westerns with a tormented antihero, extreme, sadistic levels of violence, and loud, heroic music.

The A.V. Club
The action that follows doesn't stray too far from formula, nor does it come close to Leone's film, but it's stylishly entertaining enough to serve as a passable time-filler, particularly when its second-rate hero takes to wielding an oversized (and anachronistic) handheld machine gun.

Violent tale of a man who comes into a town run by rival gangs--this time it's the Ku Klux Klan and Mexican bandits.

An allright western action film that should please fans of the genre. It's not that special but not that bad. Besides this is one of the top spaghetti western films.

Django is a boring character. The plot in general is just way too cliche. Django is the wild west badass who blows away anyone who gets in his way. And unlike the Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Westerns, the action is done in a way that is not very believable. If you want to just turn your brain off, this movie may be for you, but if you want a solid Western adventure, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Just your run-of-the-mill spaghetti western also-ran, complete with a joltingly simple plot, one-dimensional characters and the worst dubbed dialog this side of Pulp Fiction's basic cable edit. Django himself, an opportunist without much in the way of personality, is only likable in direct comparison to the cookie-cutter roster of villainy he mercilessly cuts down at each opportunity. Even the scenery, which normally delivers the greatest portion of a western's aura and mystique, falls flat in Django. Here, the wide-open promise of a broad, sweeping landscape is reduced to dreary patch of mud, a **** of thin, trail-weary horses and four pathetic, lifeless wooden shacks. If a steady diet of ricocheting bullets, heavy drinking and pointless double-crossery is what you're hungry for, by all means chow down: this is ninety solid minutes of just that with little variation. Those with an appetite for more filling material, on the other hand, should just keep on walking.
