Like Clash of Clans, I enjoyed the first few days of constantly checking it and destroying enemy bases with ease, but after about a week it lost it's touch. It refined many elements that were pretty annoying in Clash of Clans, which was great, but didn't diverge from the formula enough. Eventually I reached a certain level where I was just being constantly attacked with no time to recover to upgrade my base and troops. I hate pay to win games and while I liked the visual style and general gameplay, I refuse to pay to keep the game going. Install it, but don't expect to have much fun without sinking some cash in.

Black Ops 2 Review The Call of Duty series revolutionized the FPS genre in 2007 with COD 4 Modern Warfare but in the series recent years the games have been a simple re-skin each year since. Treyarch (the dev of World at War, 2 and Black Ops) tries some new things in this entry. As usual the story is standard, invaders invade and you have to stop them but a first in the series is the dynamic story that molds to your decisions (even though there are a small number of them compared to other games). Really what happens is that your main enemy Raul Menendez is trying to start a war between China and America and you David Mason (the original BLOPS protagonist) must stop him. The game is set in 2025 mostly but there are some flashback sections where you play as Alex Mason. These are told by Woods to let you know why Menendez wants this to happen. There are 2 sections where you play as Menendez though and these have some objectives that are a bit counter progressive to the good guys story and you are just adding work for yourself. Black Ops location were all very bland in the past games but now there are some very interesting locations. But what stood out to me was the inclusion of sandbox levels. It doesn

Dishonored Review The highlight of E3 has finally arrived and being one of the only new series his year gamers across the globe get ready to play one of the best games of the year so far. Dishonored comes to us from Arkane Studios and Bethesda and the Besthesda influence really rubs off on this one too. The story is pretty standard, Empress gets murdered, princess gets kidnapped and of course you are framed for it, you are Corvo Attano the former bodyguard and it is your job to avenge the Empress's death and put the rightful heir on the throne. The story here is nothing original with some predictable twists but provides a good backdrop for the chaos going around in this city. Yes not only is the Empress dead but the city is still suffering from the rat plague which gives the city a certain lack of hope and happiness. The world is extremely detailed and evolves according to your actions, depending on who you kill and how many people you kill. The more you slaughter the more rats and the darker to outcome at the end. This adds a heap of replay value straight up to see the different outcome of the 9 missions and the ending. True to Bethesda fashion, the first mission is of course a prison break where you learn all the combat ropes and the different physical actions you can perform. The level design here is very open ended like the Thief and Hitman series, you can even get through the game without killing a soul, there are a million possibilities in these levels. Even more replay value, there are ghost bonuses and low chaos challenges to add difficulty. Talking about that, the difficulty settings here are pretty off, if you want a good time definitely turn it up to Hard or Very hard. Early you gain you magical abilities, to get these powers you must collect runes scattered around the world and these are powers like teleportation, possession, time bending and there is even a Fus Ro Dah. There are also passive abilities to get too like extra health, bodies disappear when killed and others. Graphically the game is perfectly fine but I think the developers were a bit confused when it came to art direction, were they going for cartoony or were they going for serious steampunk, I have no idea but regardless the visuals are fine. What baffled me is the lack of a substantial soundtrack, ambient music provides a little effect but it isn

Assassins Creed 2 was the series highlight that is no longer true with the release of Assassins Creed 3. The series returns with a new setting, a new character and revamped movement and combat system. This game is set in the time of the American revolution. Your character is the half British and half Native American assassin named Connor. In the beginning you play as Connor's father but I'll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible. Talking about the start the first 3 hours you play as Connor are very narrow and closed. You are funneled down a narrowed path and not given any freedom. But when you are put into the huge open world you really notice the attention to detail and the amount of things you have to do. You can hunt, you can assist strangers, you can just free run through the trees. The revamped combat and movement systems help this experience. The combat has turned into more like an Arkham city experience with a heavy counter focus. This means your using maybe 3 buttons max at any one time. The movement system is even simpler, you hold 1 button to jump, run and vault. It allows you to move more fluidly and you just feel more comfortable holding 1 button. The animation and graphics also must be congratulated. The eyes especially they are just amazing and stare a at you and follow you. In conclusion the Assassins Creed series returns triumphantly with it's best entry so far 10/10

The Mass Effect series for me has been one of the best for this generation and now Bioware is bringing us the final show down we have been waiting for since 2007. I must say this is one of my favorite games ever. The story is naturally awesome because the player makes it with the many more complex decisions and epic battles. The galaxy is in chaos and the only way to survive is to unite and to do this Shepard must bring the galaxy together. This idea allows Bioware to add those tough decisions and those epic battles so the game isn't so action centered like Mass Effect 2. Talking about the action all the shooting and power distribution mechanics have been smoothed and the game feels less static than ME2. The set pieces and the remarkable battles have made even more epic and weaves dialogue into it all. The graphics are great but not the best on 260 and the soundtrack was great and weapon sounds had a great bang bang to them. 360 users can also use Kniect to issue commands on the battlefield and speak in cutscenes. This was good most of the time but sometimes I did a really loud "ohhh what do I do" and it chose for me which ****. This game is suitably awesome with the whole shooter rpg mix done perfectly. Mass Effect 3 also includes co-op multiplayer which is a first for the series and I really enjoyed this. Most co-op multiplayer isn't really that compelling but this was great. It's a wave mode with bonus objectives which you gert credits for which you can spend on new characters, weapons and upgrades. There has been 2 free dlc packs with new characters and bonuses. Story-10-Mass Effect has always had a great story but this is amazing Graphics-8-Great sci-fi sfx and battlefields Sound-9-Weapons have great kicks and effects and the soundtrack is another sci fi epic Value-10-Mass Effect has always been about replaying for that perfect ending and this is no different Gameplay-9.5-Great shooting and cover mechanics, never gets old but a few tech glitches here and there Overall-46.5/50

The Ballad of Gay Tony is the second of the episodic content for GTA 4 and follows the story of Luis, Tony Prince's 2IC. The main story sees Luis get into a whole lot of trouble and really is just the same structure of GTA4 and provides some great thrill in the missions. But the ridiculous dialogue is starting to get a bit stupid. I understand that this is GTA but this is just plain ridiculous, every single cutscene has some profanity in it and it is just plain ridiculous. This content isn't that bulky but the main new feature is the nightlife. Gay Tony is a club owner and Luis is the Operations Manager of those clubs. He can venture into 3 clubs and be a bouncer in 2 of them. The bouncer jobs are really just venturing between looking, throwing, sex and conversation so it gets a bit boring. You can also dance and drink at the clubs and you still get those looks when you fall down the stairs drunk as hell which is nice. There a couple of new weapons and vehicles and they add alot to the mix. But the best feature in this content was the base jumping, finally when i jump out of my helicopter (at a new higher altitude) I can land safely or just fall from a higher distance. Minor graphics improvements are included and a couple of new songs and thats about it. Gameplay-10-GTA gameplay is still the same old awesomeness Sound-8-Some of those club songs get really annoying Graphics-9-Minor improvements make it look slightly better Value-6-$30 for some new weapons and a couple of new features is ridiculous Story-8-Great moments and funny albeit stupid dialogue Overall-41/50-A great addition to the game but a bit lackluster in content

The multi-million award winning franchise is back with COD MW3. After the big Infinity Ward fallout last year we were not sure when we were gonna get the next MW game but just 2 years after MW2 they are back. The story once again is madly confusing but still has those epic Call of Duty moments. Really the story goes like this WW3, Makarov and explosions. I think I liked this campaign better than the BF3 one because of those moments even though it is short. I played this on hardened and got through it in about 5 hours so that is sorta disappointing. Graphics wise MW3 doesn't disappoint but still they could have stepped it up after Battlefield. I think that also has to go with the sound grenades are the best example I died most in multiplayer because I could barely hear the grenade. Spec Ops is also back it has missions based around the story and a new survival mode which sees you fighting off waves of enemies and able to call in air support and but ammo, guns and grenades. It's nothing special but it will keep you occupied for a couple of hours. As always the longevity in COD comes from the multiplayer. Here is the downside with this game it is exactly the same 1 new mode some new weapons and exactly the same style. You may as well play MW2 because this just has a new skin attached. The new maps feel like copies also. Overall the MW3 provides a solid single player experience and very old multiplayer experience. The Scores Graphics=7-Modern Warfare 3 looks good but not as good as most current shooters Sound=6-The sound design sounds exactly like MW2 and that just is not enough Value=5-There is a good amount of singleplayer but the multiplayer is where the longevity usually is but not this time Story=7-Great moments but the story like the other games is way to confusing Gameplay=7-This is a raw barebones shooter with fun gameplay but no depths Overall=32/50-MW3 is now becoming a dated experience but provides some good fun.

Assassins Creed Revelations is a follow up to Brotherhood and the last game in Ezio and Altair's story :( . The story once again follows master assassin Ezio Auditore and Altair Ibn La'Ahad. Ezio is on a quest to secure the 5 keys to Altair's library in his home town of Masyaf to unlock his grand wisdom and the secrets of his ancient order. But I won't touch on Altair's story but I will say there are some great moments while playing as Altair. The game starts out with a dramatic castle escape. Ezio then journey's to Constantinople to find the keys to Altair's library. He meets a local master assassin who teaches him to ropes and introduces him to a new weapon called the hookblade which changes the way you get around like the ziplines which are super cool especially when you do an air assassination from them and you can also save yourself from a dud **** there was one thing that bugged me the absence of horses I don't understand why they are gone they were great I miss my horse now. You have to recruit new assassins this time round but it isn't as essential they are really just there to help or make the experience easier and quicker. You also once again capture new assassin dens but when you become notorious your dens can become contested and your then forced into a weird tower-defense mini game which is good at first but then becomes repetitive and boring. But the mission structure is better and the jumping puzzles are great and the action has been pushed up a notch plus there are the ziplines i them as well. The combat has not been refined so it's still the stealthy fast paced action we love but I wanted it to change slightly but there are now some slow motion finishers there and they look great. Graphics and sound are refined your blades sound incredibly slick when being pushed into someones head. The blood splatters look better to. The character designs have been changed slightly. In the end Assassins Creed is starting to get COD syndrome so they really need to change it a lot next time around but that being said I think it's the best in the series so it gets a well deserved 8.5. The much anticipated Battlefield 3 is here and get ready to feel the battle. This is a next gen shooter there are things in this game that no one has done before. Tell ya what stuff MW3 and go for this because this is officially the best game ever. Sorry Deus Ex but you have been beaten. The single player story has a real black ops vibe to it but in a fresh modern setting you are Sargent Henry Blackburn a first recon marine that has 'information on a terrorist that the CIA need. You are sent into flashbacks like black ops into modern warfare like settings with big buildings and even deserts in spec ops mission not the best game story ever but is has heart and some twists to keep you engaged. At first you might think the games controls are clunky but then you realize they are really fluid and better than other FPS configs. But I must add that this game really shines in it's engine. Frostbite 2 is the new benchmark for FPS and it's detail is incredible from the sound to the graphics and this is the best looking game I have ever seen everything has detail from the dust and water on your face to the small rocks and pieces of destroyed buildings. Each gun really has their own distinct sound with a hearty kick in them the sounds of explosions in the background to the close up firefights. But the most impressive thing about the engine is the animation finally an FPS where there is such things as hands and feet when you are moving prone you are actually moving. DICE said at the EB Expo that they borrowed the animation and physics from FIFA 12 and it shows. The gunplay is solid and you really have to shoot the enemy hard because they are pretty tough. When you shoot them they grab where they have been hit then crumble to the ground. But the best bit about Battlefield is the freakin fantastic multiplayer. I have to say I **** at this multiplayer. Im getting better but still I love it it brings out strategy and you are fighting not just for xp but because of the feel the glory of getting a headshot or the hilarity of you crashing your helicopter into the sea and killing your squad with you. To unlock gear you have to play that class to unlock attachments and weapon or gadget upgrades for that class this encourages you to use all your classes and unlocking the next bit of gear at the same time unlocking specializations for your character. You can even unlock abilities for vehicles it is really addictive and I can see myself playing this for hours. There is a facebook like service online called battlelog where you can create platoons or if your a pc gamer launch matches. It is really helpful but is still doing matinence so I haven't checked it out fully. There is Co-Op but I haven't tested that either. After all this I don't think you can compare Battlefield and MW3 because they are different games. COD is a fantastic raw shooter but Battlefield go's in depth to the shooter genre so really when someone asks you the question MW3 or Battlefield you say both because they are different games. This game is an excellent multiplayer and singleplayer game that has set a new benchmark for all games this is an undoubtedly 10 out of 10 game it is a must play.

On the weekend I went game shopping and rustled myself up a copy of the 2006 Xbox Classic-Gears of War. By Epic Games the creators of Bulletstorm and the Unreal Games. Gears of War was a Revolutionary shooter and I see why. When Microsoft released it they said it was the new Halo and they weren't kidding. But when they said that they meant it was better than Halo. You are the rather massive Marcus Fenix who has been put in jail because you tried to save your father from the locust horde who have risen out of the Earth for some reason. This is all until your friend Dominic Santiago rescues you from prison you are then told to go plant a resonator light bomb in an underground pumping station to stop them. The games story is average but it doesn't really need one because the game is pure action you sort of forget the story even. The gunplay is as any good i've ever seen the cover system is the most intuitive ive ever seen and the guns are kick-ass. My favorite is the Lancer mainly because it's attachment is a chainsaw and that makes for some very gory parts in fact the game it self is pretty damn gory. It's sort of annoying with the hub though when your being shot the GoW logo fades in as you get closer to death but even then I didn't know when I was dying because I was focused on the action. I barely got lost. The level design accomadates some tactics they were the same in evry level but thats good to have in a game overall I had a great time and it definitely beats Halo so i'll give it 8.5 massive stars As always this will be on Metacritic ****/

From Bioware comes the next installment in their sci fi shooter Mass Effect 2. Things begin right after Mass Effect 1's ending and the Normandy and it's crew are sent to investigate the Terminus System where ships have dissapeared. Once again you can play as Shepard who is violently killed when the Normandy is attacked then the organization Cerberus rebuilds you and you have to find out what is happening and stop it. Instead of being bossed around by the alliance you are bossed around by the Illusive Man voiced by Martin Sheen. The Game looks beautiful and the sound of plasma rushing past your head is great too. The combat is similar to Mass Effect 1 there is some new powers it is lighter on the RPG side but I did not mind that because the devs put extra detail into the battles. This time you have ammo instead of guns heating up which is great. You go to different planets in the game and gather up a crew to fight the enemy. There are little side missions to gain the crews loyalty too to increse the survivability on the final mission and if you **** bad on the final mission you can even get Shepard killed. I didn't make any sexy relationships this time over all that I did was have a girl over for dinner though but then she died. You play Adam Jensen an ex-SWAT security expert in the year 2027. It's based in America from Detroit to Montreal. The first mission sets up the game completely a mysterious augmented merc almost kills you on an attack on sarif industries. The game is about cybernetic augmentation and to save his life Jensen must undergo a 6 million dollar operation to get **** combat is fleshed out and using your augs with the combat is great there are stealth, hacking, armored skin and even eye augs this is a great system. You unlock praxis via xp to get augs. During missions you have to stealth talk or hack your way in or you just go crazy and kill everybody the place but I liked sneaking in and knocking them out with tranquilizers. The hacking mini game is all right unlike bioshocks one. The stealth is great too. The cover system is the best ive seen in a FPS. You have an inventory so you cant grab everything you find and big weapons take up alot while pistols take up small amounts. Choices also affect his game like if you non lethal take down it could have a positive affect on the mission. This game is about giving you options its great. One complaint the controls on the consoles you cant change them and they are not typical FPS controls so that annoyed me a bit. But it looks great the futuristic setting is great and it is one of the best looking games of the year from facial expressions to design. The guns have a good sound and the music gives a good background noise. It is an incredibly stealthy and slick game best FPS i have ever played i'll give it a 10 out of 10. It looks like they have filmed this in 1000000000000000000000p. It sounds like they have recorded the real old west with todays sound technology it is awesome 100000/10

This game is awesome from the epic story to the addictive mutiplayer. It looks fantastic even now sounds like they actually recorded war and provides me with joy every time I play. It has the best FPS level ever and the hardest. The mutiplayer is fantastic from maps to perks to guns and thats what I found great about the game you fight what a war would be like today not in the 1940's. I loved it

Call of Duty Black Ops is the much anticipated game from Treyarch and it really let me down. The story is plain boring but the action here is alright. It sounds like a cartoon and looks like Call of Duty 3. It has the worst level in a COD game were you control a blackbird and command soldiers on the battle field this level seemed like a bad real-time strategy game. The thing that brought my score up is the mutilplayer it is fantastic it brings COD points as well as experience into the mix so you will be trying to prestige for weeks.

Best FPS ever it creates a tactical experiece that i can have fun with rather that just bullet spaming vietnamese dudes. It looks love sounds like im in New York being attacked by aliens or being shot at by super soilders. The mutiplayer is a total new experience and im loving being crap at this multiplayer. It's such and immersive and strategic game 2nd best game ive ever played 10

You may be thinking that this is just a crappy copy of the best downloadable game on the market Minecraft but how wrong you are. Terrarria is fantastic unlike Minecraft Terrarria has an RPG side to it so stuff building houses head underground and get some gear. It looks pretty good not the best 2D platformer graphics though. The music puts you into such a tranquil snake as your mining fighting beasties or even taking on giant eyes. It's undeniably fun and it is only 9.99 what a bargain.
