This is the hands down the best modern jrpg I’ve played by far. Literally everything in this game is top tier. Almost every jrpg that has come out in this decade has been a huge disappointment for me, with the sole exception of xenoblade 3. Amazing story with a gut wrenching ending, fantastic character cast which is easily the best in the series for me, fantastic gameplay that is extremely deep, and has an amazing soundtrack and visuals as well. The only thing I think they might’ve missed on compared to the other xenoblade games is the world, but for the overall jrpg genre it’s still on the upper end for me.

I absolutely adore the other 2 games in the klaus trilogy, but I just don’t think this one is on the level of the others. English voice acting is absolutely horrendous at times, and ruins a couple great moments of the game. The gameplay is so repetitive and boring to me, I don’t understand how people like it the best. I even looked up a tutorial to see if I was missing something, but no I just didn’t like it. Most of the chapters in this game are also a bore unfortunately, and those ones that aren’t just happen to be the shortest chapters in the game. This game has an amazing soundtrack and an amazing world, however the rest of the game is not on par with that quality in my personal opinion.

Kinda don’t understand how the definitive edition is lower rated than the original, it’s literally the same game but with way better visuals, better soundtrack, and they added a DLC even if it’s not great. This is one of the best jrpgs ever made for me. Amazing story, good characters, extremely underrated gameplay that is actually my favorite in all of jrpgs, amazing soundtrack, and a beautiful world.

Best game in the series for me personally, this game is everything it’s hyped up to be. One of the best soundtracks ever made, one of the best character casts ever made, a subtle but very well made story, and a game that just as an amazing atmosphere and feel to it. The only knock on this game is this gameplay, it’s not terrible or anything, it’s just mediocre. Dungeons are repetitive and a bit tedious(still not as bad as Tartarus from P3), but I’m hoping they will improve on that in revival.

Overall, just a great game with almost 0 flaws. There are a couple aspects of this game that are overrated in my opinion like the story and the characters, but that isn’t to say they aren’t still good. Gameplay is good, best art style in jrpg history, and one of the best soundtracks ever made.

Great character cast, great visuals, amazing soundtrack, unfortunately Tartarus is absolutely abysmal, and just makes the entire gameplay feel like a chore instead of being able to enjoy it. Amazing narrative as well, but the plot takes way too long to get going. Still a good overall story though.

While I don’t think the story was the best in the series like a lot of people seem to, I did think it was really good. I liked the darker tone it took for the story and for the characters as well. Story and characters were both 9/10s for me, but unfortunately the gameplay was horrid. I mean literally the worst I’ve ever played. Game was way too easy had to turn it up to hard to even get a challenge and still only died on two boss fights. Battle system was button mash central where you would literally just spam one button the entire fight and then press another one every now and then. Overall a very good game though.

When I think of a perfectly average game I immediately think of this one. The story is literally as average as it gets. There weren’t any real great moments that stood out to me in the entire game. The first 2/3rds of the game was actually pretty decent I thought, wasn’t amazing but it was interesting at least. The last third however was very uninteresting and rushed to me. Characters were the worst in the series as well. The only tales characters that weren’t funny at all. Battle system was one of the best I’ve ever played but a little Too easy for my liking.

Great game the soundtrack was the best I’ve ever heard and I really liked the social link stuff. Other things I thought were pretty overrated like the story wasn’t anything special to me. Would say it’s like slightly better than average. Dialogue was genuinely bad. Also some of the most average characters I’ve ever seen. None of them really stood out as good characters to me other than maybe akechi which I don’t know if you could even call him a character in the party. Gameplay was good though I’ll give it that.

Amazing gameplay very hard and the best battle system I’ve ever played. Everting else unfortunately was bad. Characters were decently funny but would say such corny things it made it hard for me to like them. Story was just bad, don’t know what else to say .

I don’t know if this is just a final fantasy thing because I haven’t played a lot of these games, but the 45 minute to hour long boss fights kinda made the experience worse for me. Boss fights weren’t even really that difficult either they were just long. Most of the time I was just spamming the dodge button which got old. Battle system was great just couldn’t sit still long enough to enjoy the boss fights. I guess this is also a game meant for people who played the original, but as someone who didn’t I couldn’t get into the story because they didn’t explain anything. It just felt less like an rpg and more like a mission impossible movie where a bunch of random chaos and action was happening just for the sake of it.

The one problem I usually have with tales stories usually is being too light hearted and having everything going too well for the party. I get that that is part of the tales series charm, but I like a little darker story. Abyss is definitely the exception. People actually get hurt and die, war happens , cities get destroyed. Tied for my favorite story ever with great characters and gameplay too. A must play rpg for me.

Don’t understand how anyone could not like this storyline. To me the best plot twists I’ve seen in any game and tied for my favorite main Villain in any game ever. The world is as cool as it gets and the backstory/lore behind the game is amazing as well. Pair that with my favorite characters ever and having way more main story boss fights than any of the other tales games and you have my favorite game ever.

Yuri is hands down my favorite character of all time. The characters as a whole also have amazing personalities and the friendly banter never gets old. Even though the battle system is great I do think the gameplay is slightly overrated. Normal mode is just too easy for me and the normal fights on hard mode are just tedious and long but overall a great game with an underrated story.
