The usual review bombing from incel manbabies won't change the fact that this is a great game, even if I'm not a fan of hyper-realistic graphics in video games.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker10
Dec 10, 2021
Endwalker somehow did the impossible and topped Shadowbringers. At least in terms of the main story - of course things may change as more endgame content is released. The story pretty much didn't take a single wrong turn, delivering satisfying conclusions, emotional payoffs and enormous surprises in all the right ways. Well done.

Kid Icarus: Uprising10

A truly perfect masterpiece for the ages, featuring excellent gameplay, stunning visuals, a breathtaking soundtrack and some of the best writing and voice acting in the industry. However, it has a bit of a barrier of entry in its innovative control scheme, which works brilliantly but takes some time getting used to and finding a comfortable position. Do not let that stop you.

Xenoblade Chronicles X10

A game which captures the feeling of exploring a vast, wild and dangerous world better than any other game in existence, showing even Breath of the Wild how it's really done. There's not much of a story here, so the entirety of the appeal lies in that wonder of discovery - both in terms of breathtaking locales and terrifying monsters, both of which never cease to impress in their variety and wealth.

Final Fantasy VII Remake9

A great re-imagining of a classic, which captures the feel of the original - especially its memorable characters - while revolutionizing the combat gameplay and expanding on the story. It's a success in nearly every way, with the only flaws being occasional content padding and a couple of questionable story decisions where it feels like the writers are afraid to go all in on certain tragic or intense moments. Let's hope Part 2 is just as good, maybe even better!
