Batman: Knightfall - Part 1: Knightfall8
Sep 27, 2026
Unabashedly graphic, epic animation enhanced by ambitious storytelling that is faithful to the source material in a way only animation can deliver. Speaking of which, the stylish animation is a feast for the eyes, sexy and out of control in the best possible way. Super **** script has a few dialogue tropes, particularly where the GCPD is concerned. Aside from that, it possesses an emotional maturity level superiour to the vast majority of live-action features, especially of the superhero **** voice acting demonstrates the superior results you get when you do not rely on A-list superstars; even if a few names are familiar, no one is resting on their laurels. The score is constructed with an epic feature in mind, and the sound mix backs it up with perfect punch and impact all the way through. Most trilogies start off with lots of promise, bloom to perfection in the second act, and then land soft with the third. Let us hope this one can join the ranks of the few trilogies that finish strong and stick the landing.

Relentless!Zach Cregger is 3 for 3. Each of his films, from Barbarian to Weapons to this, has been different, and each film has been incredibly creative and engaging, flipping the rules of the genre on their heads. This time, he is making a creature feature that pays homage to the video game without making a standard video game movie. The cinematography, especially the lighting, is haunting and **** creature effects are gorgeous, and the score is a pulsating, emotional hype fest. The acting and script hit the perfect balance of humour and empathy. You can relate to the protagonist because he doesn't consistently make the wrong choice—and when he does, it is more entertaining than frustrating.Great editing delivers a perfect 90-minute runtime with only 2 minutes of downtime. I laughed, jumped, and smiled the whole way through. An absolute treat.

A powerhouse of a non-stop, breakneck, action-packed, sci-fi, horror, adventure extravaganza! This film has everything! There are some surprisingly hysterical comedic moments that come out of nowhere, edited in with perfect timing. The acting works perfectly for the theme. The actors all understand what kind of film they are in and work well as an ensemble **** creature design is great, although one drawback is some of the CGI. The film may take place in the '90s, but there is no reason for the CGI to look like it was made in the pre-Jurassic Park '**** first glance, the runtime seems excessive, but the film is stuffed with world-building and action sequences that keep the movie moving. On the flip side of that, the world-building is ambitious, perhaps overly so, and they may have benefited by scaling back slightly to deliver a more satisfying conclusion.Hats off to writer-director Na Hong-jin for daring to swing for the fences with this balls-to-the-wall, bananas, fun piece of original science fiction material that provides an overall entertaining viewing experience.

Original and surprisingly effective!I love Adult Swim and mini, bite-sized commercial satire, though I doubted this concept could hold up for more than 30 minutes. Surprisingly, the editing builds a solid narrative that keeps you engaged long after the initial novelty wears off. Some clever perspective pivots help carry the momentum all the way to the **** actors are hysterical, and the songs are surprisingly catchy enough that you will want to listen to them on their own later. An experiment that fully paid off. Well done!

It took a 4K IMAX restoration to finally get my brain around the story, especially that 2001-inspired final 20 minutes.Easily my 15th viewing, but my first in a cinema. Worth every single penny.Zero exaggeration on its importance to all anime that followed. The formula has been refined over the years, but this is undeniably groundbreaking. Plus, that opening track is an ahead-of-its-time dance **** is not without its flaws. How many times can you repeat a character's name? The scientific gibberish can also feel like a word puzzle at times. Either way, an absolute must-see!

Psycho tweens! Nothing is scarier than being stuck with kids for a summer. These kids are kick-ass actors who portray little **** with incredible accuracy. The script is very well written, the sound design is phenomenal, and the original score is wildly ****-notch cinematography, too. This movie has a lot of heart and gets right under your skin. It bounces around a few genres, but it firmly belongs in horror since the story is frightening at its **** impressive discovery!

Leviticus8
Aug 28, 2026
An intoxicatingly romantic, sweet, steamy, emotionally terrifying, and devastating **** going all in on perfecting a first-love situation in the first act, director and writer Adrian Chiarella quickly and expertly locks onto your emotions. Thanks to the chemistry of the leads, when the horror hits, it hits hard. They don't deliver too much mythology, which avoids breaking the pacing and prevents the chance of plot **** real terror here is the humans and their fears. Accentuated by pulling from one of the scariest books ever, the Bible, the horror feels all too real. The cinematography highlights the other character, namely the loneliness of this small outback town. The atmosphere is topped off with a kick-ass score by Jed Kurzel. This isn't a gorefest, but your mind may trick you into thinking it is. As tight as the tension is, it still gets some laughs and scares. This is a tight, fun, expertly executed, emotional rollercoaster of a ride.

Toy Story 57
Aug 28, 2026
Signature Toy Story storytelling. They continue to keep a good balance with the subtext jokes. The side quest with the Buzz crew is fantastic, and the new toys are quite an enjoyable gang of new characters. For adults of a certain age, there is a well-executed voyage down our technology memory lane.Although I found it less emotionally empathetic than the others, the final act has a few moments likely to get you to shed a tear, the superb mid-credit scene being one of them. While it is nowhere near the perfection of the earlier films and may be the weakest of the bunch, it is still quality entertainment with relevance, perfect for the whole family.

They Will Kill You8
Aug 28, 2026
Pure insanity! A no-holds-barred, grindhouse, action gorefest.A gothic, supernatural version of Kill Bill, with a relentless soundtrack that matches the fierce, heart-pounding action sequences. The performances are hysterical. Everyone is full-in and hitting the tone spot on. Kirill Sokolov’s script manages to take a simple premise, using it as a springboard for a completely different storyline. They raise the bar with every absurd set piece. The editing and pacing move at a breakneck ****'s not an easy task to keep this up, and the short, tight runtime is just perfect. This is not for everyone, and if the first 20 min freaks you out, stop—because what director Kirill Sokolov has in store for you is tenfold ****'s so much fun to watch a movie that wants to have fun and goes all out. See if you can hold on for the ride.I'm ready to get back on again.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come7
Aug 28, 2026
This is a welcome expansion to the universe that fills in the mythology gaps from the first movie. When you see that David Cronenberg and Elijah Wood are in it, you know you are in for some crazy stuff. The film features plenty of laughs and well-paced chase sequences. However, it doesn't hold its own as a standalone film despite the efficient recap. The campy vibe of the original is still there, but the family drama between the sisters slows it down a tad. While it is not as brilliantly outrageous as the first film, if you enjoyed the original, you will be on board for this one.

Evil Dead Burn7
Aug 28, 2026
Boasting buckets of blood, Evil Dead Burn is anchored by surprisingly spectacular cinematography. While it may start slow, once it revs up, the dynamic action style and visual trickery of cinematographer Philip Lozano and director Sébastien Vaniček establish a jaw-dropping, relentless pace that burns both rubber and plenty of flesh. The gore and torture set pieces are as creative as ever, guaranteed to make audiences want to look away at one moment, only to clap and laugh with glee the **** performances are solid across the board, but Maude Davey’s portrayal of the grandmother entirely steals the show; she is an absolute hoot, providing the bulk of the film's comedic relief. However, the movie is not without its missteps. It is simply not as structurally solid as the near-perfection of previous franchise entries. The characters here are largely hateful, and not in a fun way that makes you revel in their eventual comeuppance, with the notable exception of the brothers' two girlfriends, who easily serve as the narrative's most empathetic figures. Another disappointing stumble is the integration a fully CGI demon, an aesthetic choice that clashes heavily with the franchise's tried-and-true practical makeup effects.Fortunately, the successful comedic beats and unrelenting gore ensure the film doesn't utterly disappoint; it delivers exactly the visceral experience fans come to expect. Thanks to well-laid-out action sequences and sharp pacing, the film remains highly enjoyable despite its ****: There are two post-credit scenes that are well worth sticking around for.

The Odyssey10
Aug 28, 2026
Epic.I laughed.I cried.I was on the edge of my seat, in awe at watching the story come to **** performances are emotionally engaging. It features career-highlight performances from Tom Holland, Matt Damon, and Anne Hathaway.Every technical aspect is executed to **** only complaint is that every second scene, you are noticing another well-known actor. It's a bit much sometimes. Considering the end result, though,I can deal with that.Exceptional achievement in **** on-location filming brings a grandiose feeling that you rarely get to experience. If you are lucky enough to see an IMAX 70mm (as I was) or a standard 70mm print, the quality of the film makes it even more realistic. The impressive action scenes are fully immersive in the towering IMAX format, even standard IMAX is worth the extra bucks.Note: There are no trailers beforehand, but you do get an exclusive 4-minute 70mm IMAX scene from Dune: Part Three.

Faces of Death6
Aug 28, 2026
This was fun! The film offers a terrific meta-reinterpretation of the original, with a distinct and effective stylistic flair. The entire production feels deeply rooted in the 1980s, heavily channeling that era’s sensibilities through its cinematography and storytelling. While there are moments where the dialogue wavers into pure foolishness just to fill the gaps, the actors do a fantastic job of balancing the tone. Additionally, the "final girl" story arc is nicely constructed. There are no jump scares, but the pacing delivers a nice edge-of-your-seat ride with a decent dose of **gore**. I absolutely adore the **score**. It is a full-on, John Carpenter-inspired '80s horror party featuring bangers that Charli XCX could easily play during a pre-show. It genuinely works as a standalone album. While it doesn't quite live up to the legend of the original, it provides a fresh meta-perspective. It is clear that genuine effort was put in to, at best, get newcomers interested in exploring the original films, and to give those already familiar with the old videotapes an opportunity to reevaluate the chaos surrounding their initial release. It is a must-watch for horror fans, though casual viewers may want to look for a more effective horror entry for their viewing pleasure.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma8
Aug 28, 2026
What a trip! If you need a reference point for its style, think David Lynch directing Sleepaway Camp or Scream, that is about as close as you can get to a comparison.Writer-director Jane Schoenbrun has a unique style entirely her own, featuring a flawless combination of camera angles, framing, and color palettes. The film is dreamy while keeping one foot firmly in reality, providing an emotionally relatable anchor. This feature clearly demonstrates how she has locked into her groove. What starts off seemingly as horror mutates into comedy, then into a coming-of-age story, then a rom-com, and finally into an "I don't even know what." Through it all, it remains deeply engaging and entertaining, steering clear of predictable plot points for the entire ride.Gillian Anderson is brilliant and having the time of her life, letting loose with a perfectly controlled, sexy, fun, and mysterious portrayal of an '80s scream queen, final girl. With an inspired collection of underappreciated actors rounding out the cast, every single scene has something deliciously original to offer. It is proudly **** without fear, yet it never forces that element to be the entire focal point of the film. This enables all viewers the time to find who they connect with and why, similar to her previous film, I Saw the TV Glow. Once you have connected, it is too late to back out.Clearly, she has an attachment to the home video and celluloid days, and that is a fantastic fetish to have. This is where you find the best meat for horror. Ultimately, it is a crowd-pleasing, sweet treat.Brief Note: I wish I could have stayed for the Q&A with Hannah Einbinder after the Canadian premier at the Fantasia Festival. She totally rocks!

Heartstopper Forever7
Aug 28, 2026
A stunning 19th-century Gothic romantic vampire tale, anchored by subtle, incredibly sexy and seductive turns from Egor Venned and Pilou Asbæk, alongside an impressively nuanced performance by Sofia Nolsøe Mikkelsen.Director Kaspar Kalle succeeds in delivering a distinct spin on classic vampire lore. The production design leans so heavily into period authenticity that scenes occasionally get a bit too dark to fully appreciate, but the visual effects land effectively to amp up the eerie atmosphere.Rather than relying on standard jump scares, though a few are tucked in, the film commits to a slow burn romance. By the climax, that deliberate pacing pays off, making the final turn into horror significantly more powerful. Stellar work from Kaspar Kalle. He's a director to watch.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day8
Aug 28, 2026
Ultimate classic comic book character mash-ups.Spectacular action sequences.Refreshing to have a friendly neighborhood-focused story. What really stands out is the interpersonal relationships and character development, it had me emotional for half the film. The actors have amazing chemistry and push the right emotional buttons while still hitting the comedic **** sensational score, composed by Michael Giacchino, adapts the themes from his scores that contributed to the previous Spider-Man films into an emotionally mature electronic arrangement, moving away from the bombastic superhero scores we have become accustomed **** one gripe is that they should not have had a post-credits scene, or it should have gone in a different direction where the final shot was leading them and not the direction they headed.A perfect fit for this Spider-Man series.

Masters of the Universe7
Aug 28, 2026
Unabashed popcorn fan service heaven! This film is so much fun and fully self-aware. Travis Knight went in the right direction by channeling the tone of 1980s Flash Gordon.Composer Daniel Pemberton adds the cherry on top by bringing in guitarist Brian May to play his signature guitar, driving the soundtrack’s energy **** acting is fitting for the genre and suits the overall vibe perfectly. While it may not win over new fans over the age of 12, it completely fulfills the desires of longtime enthusiasts. Nicholas Galitzine is absolutely fantastic and was born for this **** straightforward as the character might seem, he expands on it and showcases the acting talent you might have missed in his more emotionally heavy roles (must see : Mary & **** runtime might feel about 30 minutes too long for a campy film, but the effort put into establishing an emotional anchor is appreciated.I would gladly watch this again anytime.

Exit 86
Aug 28, 2026
Straight-up trippy **** awkward video game adaptation, but it still manages to capture the frustration and creepiness of the concept. The upside is that it’s not you trying to escape, so you can sit back and be the backseat driver.Simple aesthetics paired with very efficient editing raise the quality of the cinematography. While it never quite reaches the creep factor it aims for, the production is solid enough to hold your interest. Coming back to the editing, you never get bored in a scenario that could easily become repetitive and unengaging.I will say that the asthma sub-element is overdone and serves as a weak suspense device. As someone with the affliction, incorporating it into a film would normally stress me out and keep me engaged, but here it feels very paint-by-numbers.Thanks to strong performances, this interpretation is worth a look and is easily digestible.

The End of Oak Street7
Aug 28, 2026
A thoroughly enjoyable time at the movies. This is classic, big screen, four quadrant popcorn entertainment. It features terrific action sequences and tight pacing that delivers an ideal runtime. The cinematography occasionally stands out with creative visual compositions, complemented by a great song selection, authentic 1982 fashions, and plenty of retro Easter eggs hidden within the **** filmmakers almost convinced me this was produced in 1984, were it not for the modern visual effects and one major flaw: the writing of the child characters. The primary reason films from that era succeeded was that directors like Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante, Chris Columbus, and John Hughes treated young characters with respect. They wrote kids with intelligent, mature reactions and never talked down to them. Here, the kids make irrational decisions and deliver dialogue that only occasionally feels realistic. A final script rewrite would have done wonders to elevate the overall quality of the **** acting meets expectations for the leads, even if the performances are not aiming for awards season. Michael Giacchino is a fantastic composer, but this score does not reach the iconic heights that John Williams or James Horner typically delivered for this style of feature. Nevertheless, it remains effective. While comparisons to Jurassic Park are understandable, the similarities end with a few surface details. Beyond featuring four white leads composed of two kids and two adults, a scene involving characters trapped in a vehicle, and Spielberg inspired pacing, this film stands on its own. Viewers often forget that dinosaur cinema existed long before Jurassic Park.Ultimately, this film delivers exactly what it promises as a fun, effortless, and entertaining watch.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender6
Aug 28, 2026
Incredibly enjoyable for fans, and they do a terrific job of onboarding new viewers. Although the story provides a fulfilling addition to the lore, the unveiling is, unfortunately, quite predictable. Fifteen minutes in, you can see the story beats to come. The script is riddled with spoon-fed recaps every 20 minutes. Luckily, the majority of the well-placed humor lands effectively. The intense action scenes are fun, and the animation is a step up from the show, making it feel larger. Not to mention, the film is supported by a wonderful score that plays throughout almost every minute. They had the right idea on how to deliver a proper, grown-up sequel without alienating new viewers, and despite its flaws, it still succeeds at entertaining. Yip Yip!

Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror7
Aug 28, 2026
Indeed, it was a strange journey, an important documentation of an unusual and historic moment in time. Having some emotional attachment to the material, of course I wanted more. Most importantly, what stood out was how much honesty was shared during the testimonials. This isn't a puff piece. Linus O’Brien managed to keep it as raw as possible, which in the end is the most important thing. Granted, he does not go for TMZ or Page Six drama, but do we really need to dig for trash that has no true impact on the happiness this project has brought to the world for decades? Even so, the fans are used to getting down and dirty, and that's how the community of outcasts was created. There is a lot of fan service, but it never alienates virgins to the lore. In fact, it does almost just enough to pique the curiosity of a new generation. Highly recommended for fans and casual connoisseurs of the floor show. There is enough here to merit multiple viewings. Let's do the time warp again, and again, and again.

Aug 28, 2026
Huge fan of Jane Schoenbrun’s follow‑up films, I Saw the TV Glow and Camp Miasma. I can see the themes and the directing style taking shape, and I appreciate this early work even more now. She has grown in leaps and bounds as a director. Everyone has to start somewhere. This one has a great idea and a few interesting moments, but it can be a bit of a chore to get through. Thankfully, the lead, Sarah Winshall, is very strong and the runtime is very short.

An absolute treat. They hit the science fiction B‑film vibe perfectly. Perfect runtime. Solid humour. A worthy way to spend ninety entertaining minutes.

All You Need Is Kill6
Aug 28, 2026
Crazy animation style, an absolute feast for the eyes. It is a faithful adaptation of the original story concept. The characters are clearly written, which makes their motivation easy to understand and gets your engagement early on. The doses of humour and the action sequences are well integrated. The logic becomes a little messy in the final act, as it often does with time travel or time loop stories. There are also plenty of illogical decisions and missed narrative paths that could have made the story more engaging. It does not help that the English subtitles are not always the **** is not the classic anime film it strives to be, but there is still enough here to make it worth checking out.

An exercise to demonstrate perfect filmmaking, from costume design and cinematography, to production design and lighting. For DeNiro, this is a walk in the park. Even he gives a fun nod to one of his previous roles. DiCaprio does what he does. He commits to his role and delivers with sweat and tears. When it comes to acting, The real surprise here is Lily Gladstone. She is hypnotizing and the most relatable character. She is able to communicate emotion with a simple glance. I was engaged each time she was on-screen.I do have some reservations. They ignore the native american story and focus on their caucasian star who transitions from adorable to absolutely clueless and irritating. It all seems very 90s.Although this is textbook filmmaking perfection, there is nothing innovative and no chances taken.Although the editing is precise, the plodding pacing can be a challenge at times. It could have used an intermission like in the 'old days' and it would have fit in **** fact, I believe this would be better served as a 6-part limited **** supporting characters are far more interesting and entertaining. Their performances are fresh and engaging. It would have been nice to spend more time with them. It would have also provided more emotional connection and weight when the dramatic turn of events **** you want to learn about filmmaking and history, this is the one to **** you want something enjoyable, or more upbeat, this wouldn't be my first pick.
