It's not a bad game per-se. This game looks good and has solid characteristics. But the most frustrating thing are the various "scripted" encounters, especially as Grace. Even if some encounters seem ok the first time, you will soon notice the pattern which hampers any "real" gameplay. Unfortunately, there are too many such situations which just mean that there is no replay-value and even replaying them on your first time is tedious. Also, the game feels clunky. Sure, this may be by design. But the movement feels stiff. It's again a game that wants to be a movie.
I came to this game after completing all Souls and playing them almost religiously (low level, builds, PVP). However, this game ain't it. It's clunky and has one of the worst level and encounter designs I've ever seen. Enemies chase you till the end of times and have so many unfair mechanics its borderline psychotic. So many "gotcha" moments and trial by error on your (first) run, it makes it very "unfun" to play. You can cower behind your shield to play through but that doesn't match with my playstlyle. In addition there are game mechanics (World Tendency) so you will miss out on items, weapons and quests going blind. In summary: It's a boring, tedious, slog to play this game. It's nowhere near the quality (of encounters) than the later games and should not be praised for anything more than being the "first".
In some sense this game took one aspect of Soulslike, i.e., the difficulty, and **** everything around that. Which is a shame, because initially the worldbuilding and atmosphere can be great; but are let down by the world "design" from a gameplay aspect (i.e., enemy placement, encounters, environment traps). Especially the later parts drag.
Wot is the worst trash game there is. Starting with the money-making, all monetization, broken and manipulated matchmaking and stats to braindead mechanics, life-consuming grinds and horrible balance, which could've been fixed by a five year old by now but is simply not due to it being "systematic", to worthless events and ridiculous time consuming "operations" which are pointless with limited or rather non existent payouts **** worthless company cash-milking the franchise since their relocation to tax-heaven Cyprus, where they sold their talent, competence and soul. You may get lured into thinking this may be worth your time, but going beyond mid-tier tanking you will soon regret your life-decisions. I just hope that this company goes down the drain sooner rather than later, they do not deserve to be supported.
Personally I think this game missed the mark. It is padding hard, overstays its welcome and has some good aspects, e.g., locations, visuals. However, the story progress, traversing and fighting are definitely the worst part of it. Simply said fighting heavy, unresponsive and unnecessary cumbersome /artificial difficult which slows down enemy engagement. Weapons don't have weight, lock on is bad, you constantly get attacked from enemies out of view, the enemies do not flinch - The Draugr / boss encounters being the worst offender for enemy health, damage and arena and (mini-)boss design and layout. Even standard enemies feel "spongey" and damage you receive seems way over-tuned, leaving you in defense / reaction mode most of the times (at least above normal difficulty; haven't tested below). When I think about it, the gameplay is somewhat reminiscent of Dark Souls but in a bad way, as the latter has not that many unblockable attacks and encounters feel better designed (thus feeling better IMO). Bottom line, from a gameplay-perspective, the mechanics are not as sophisticated to stand on their own and, thus, are not on par with other hack-n-slay-games, e.g., DMC, Bayonetta or even old GOW, as well as DS, though this may be intentional. IMO this game feels frustrating for the wrong reasons. Further aspects relevant to the (lowered) score, in short: The game crashes on PS5; the performance (FPS) is not great / stable unless on performance mode which does impact quality a great deal; the map design is visually great but gameplay-wise repetitive; the gameplay basically hasn't changed much / at all from GoW 2018, which is probably due to the same weapons, I wanted God of War but this has too much (God of) Junior in it, while Kratos doesn't feel powerful at all.
Horrible campaign, incredible unbalanced weapon sandbox in multiplayer, the worst lineup of maps for mp, idiotic cross-platform-only for invasion - playing against hardcore PC is always fun - bad progression, atrocious UI, limited content but what is has a quantity over quality approach, lag and bugs, lots of crashes, physical disk worthless because all is online-content, blurry visuals (not next generation), lazy attempt at MW2 (OG), overall disappointing and below mediocre.
Edit: Don't switch to PC either but rather to a better game. This is one of the worst games out there. Not in terms of the game but you will only realize how bad, unbalanced, broken and anti-consumer this game is if you invest a lot of time into this which will be not rewarding. That is what makes it one of the worst games. It has solid mechanics but unfortunately no competition and, thus, doesn't improve but gets tedious and non-enjoyable and makes you regret. If you really want that shiny "good" tank you better pay or enjoy the horrendous grind of terrible balance, matchmaking and mechanics (in short, even though you aim at something doesn't mean you hit something). Everything else is better. DO NOT SPEND TIME ON THIS. This is an abomination. I switched to PC and never looked back, although I had many tier X and premium tanks on console (many thousand games). It's inferior in every way, e.g., the UI is horrible - like a child has done it - the game feedback is outraciously bad (no damage numbers, no indication what ammo damaged you), the aiming is laughable, the spotting is unprecise, the crew is non-relevant, the maps are unintelligent (they changed some PC maps and also added console exclusives, without any thought process it seems), the economy is there to screw you over etc. This isn't just a simpler version, it's a different game altogether and a bad one at that. Why play COD on mobile when you can play the real game; why waste time on this game. No reason except you don't have a PC.
This game has technical, performance, balancing and repetition issues. However, it always got me back in and gave me a good to sometimes great experience. Not perfect but a canvas for many adventures.
Halo Infinite is the best game of 343 but still a bad Halo Game. No social features, no forge, run-in-the-mill-campaign and everything else decent but not great. I don't think that they should be praised for mediocrity. Well at least for me this was the last time they lied to us, see what they promised with season passes and FTP multiplayer but not deliveries on many fronts even half year in. This is enough for me. UPDATE: Even a half year in we still have a lot of core features missing (e.g., coop, various costums and game-modes, forge, social features etc.) and only empty promises. 343 is unfit to handle the mantle. And lying is the worst offence they have done so far, lying about content, lying about deadlines, lying about communications. That's how you bury a legend
Resident Evil Village is let down by it's last quarter by immense magnitude. All atmosphere is blown away for badly paced action and horrible boss fights. Unfortunately, the end sticks with you thus lowering the overall good experience.
Don't support this game. Year 1 Player. First: So many disconnects, so many lone-wolves and stupidity boggles me. The game has balancing flaws but is otherwise good yet already lacking in content. If the teamplay works it's a blast, most of the times it doesn't and the game gets very unfair. Update 1 Year in: I've to lower the score. A year into this games lifecycle and none of the major issues re. balancing, new content, good servers and matchmaking have not been addressed. It's just not fun many times. Update 2Y in: Two years into this game and the server issues have not been fixed. Furthermore the audio underwent several patches which resulted in an overall worse result. Every update makes something worse but doesn't fix core problems. Almost three years into the cycle and no patches for post 500 game loot and progression while asking players to pay mostly for every new skin (which are often reskins with paint). This has to end.
I liked the game. It was a solid 7 to 8/10 worse than Borderlands 2 but very cringe. However, the latest DLC is truly bad. The only thing for the Director's Cut are the weapons, which are somewhat interesting and/but very strong (e.g. Plasma Coil), but the idea is utter blandness (2/10). This costs the same as story DLC's? There is no way to rate the DLC so my overall score for the game decreases.
EDIT: I was playing first time with Champions Covenant thus everything was way harder that it should have been. That being said imo: I can only describe this game as follows...boring! It's a slog to play through. Gameplay is worse than any other in the series with excessive stamina management and weapon degeneration. Atmosphere is really subpar, enemy placement uninspiring and rather not thought through. A classic B team effort. The only persons to play this games are the ones that forced themselves to. Eventually, they "get good" and call others out for struggles they themselves had before they overleveled. However, they think themselves "better" while repressing their own faults. Games should be good not by having bad mechanics but by reliability. This game doesn't.
It's a solid game, nothing groundbreaking. The audio and atmosphere is very good. The gameplay is good however not diverse and there is too much emphasis on climbing and sliding to really feel immersed. Plus too many repetitive puzzles and areas previously locked which must be backtracked to which seem unnecessary. Re high critical reception this game gets, I think a lot of people are just thirsty for a new star wars game that doesn't **** from beginning. I like that, but to stand out this game needed "more".
This game is very annoying without reasons, very boring without substance and very uninspired even if it should be. The mechanics feel like pre 2007, it is flawed in every aspect, not a real gears in terms of tone and atmosphere. An edgy gears if you like...I didn't like the new orientation. Sadly I leave the Gears franchise behind for good after yet another disappointed chance given to the coalition. I feel a lot of people like the new gears with it's on the nose comedy and repetitive content, it's just not for me and personally not "gears of war" thus "gears".
EDIT: Coming back from Lies of P you understand what this game does bad. It's the camera. Holy sh... it is bad. Most of the encounters you are fighting in cramped areas, the camera is the reason you get killed. It's not about skill, its about bad design. The game doesn't deserve praise for its combat when the most basic factor is bad. I originally had this game at a 5, however since my return it really aged dis-favorable. Original review:
Sekiro is hard and for all the wrong reasons. Yes this is a from software game but what DS & BB did was give you a feeling of achievement and progress when overcoming those obstacles which is missing totally in this game. It feels like they deliberately made this game hard, punishing and not fulfilling. It just baffles me as to why they took this route when their other games where - despite the difficulty - well received and loved whereas this game will/is not. Yes there are people enjoying it and I'm happy for them. I've played easily over 800h in from's worlds and the games never felt undeserved except in defined areas/locals. This game however has a convoluted gameplay system, very hard to master/even grasp mechanics and enemies that just are not fun to play against. Yes you can master it but to what end? Just for the sake of it?
There is no reason to play through it again unless you want to platinum or show others how (get) "good" you are. No different builds but only different "prostetics".
I'm just disappointed in the final product because they could have made a(-nother) masterpiece yet focused too hard on difficulty than fun/feeling of overcoming obstacles.
In my opinion a game isn't good because it is hard. A game has to have some traits that define it other than the difficulty and overall has to be fun to be played. This game doesn't give me satisfaction (in killing enemies, bosses, progressing), it just drags on. Not worth it for me hope you like it.
After a very long wait we finally get another proper DMC. Does it deliver? Short answer: Yes. Could it have been better? Also yes. Pro: - Three playable characters with different fighting styles. - A somewhat cohesive story (for a DMC game it was good). - Good graphics, mostly stable frames (60fps targeted). - Good DMC-mechanics. Cons: - Too short/not enough content: Bloody Palace (will be free) only available within two or more months / Later half of the game is stale in comparison to the first, lots of "backtracking" (doing the same things/areas in different perspectives) / Only three to four memorable bosses (unique/balanced/fun to fight) / Not enough weapon variety, combinations possible (exception is Dante, but even for him many skills from prior games (DMC3 & 4) are absent) - In short: lots of repetition for a good part of the game. - Lowered skill-gap, more accessible but somewhat less responsive (this can be good but there are some gameplay decisions that stayed in the game that just bug (compared to earlier games)). - Re-used assets from prior games (sometimes almost 1to1 taken). Sure it can be seen as fan-service but when they are that prominent (and also mostly the good part of the game) and the "new" features are not memorable, it shows. - Long loading screens for everything you do (every menu you open from the title screen, every time you enter shops etc.) - very prominent and annoying. - V may be a deviation from classic gameplay but the mechanics often don't work properly. The game has 20 Missions where there some that are merely boss-rush modes (f.e. the last 3 missions). The first half of the game is very good and gets you going whereas the later part is repetition and (more) tedious. Yet it feels and sounds like a proper DMC after the long wait and for fans it is definitely worth it. But beware that you may not get a DMC3 surprise. Yet a solid hack&slay adventure that warms your soul. It could have been more perfected though (more content, less repetition, more variety of bosses, more gameplay-polish).
Game is ok, nothing ground breaking but polished. Yet even after almost 3 years the matchmaking is still horrible, the teams unbalanced, no real team play in a team based game and no efforts of the developers to change the core issues. It's basically the same game as it was at the beginning with the same issues which speaks volumes.
This games network code is horrible. In a game where the majority of players that have completed the game generally (only) once only stick around for the PVP part and this is the games biggest flaw. The hit detection on weapons itself is not good in itself (also in PVE when you are clearly out of reach but get hit/damaged nevertheless) but couple that with huges delays, roll-spamming you get a somewhat random system. Some may like it, you may get fun out of it, but it could be way better and it is flawed.
This game may be (very) good storywise but the controls lack by todays standard in a way that it hurts the gameplay. I don't want to fight the camera nor the movement abilities to enjoy a game. Because this is an updated version I not only have expected prettier graphics but original flaws to be adressed aswell.
This is a game about learning your environment and the enemies (patterns) within. Having a horrible hit detection is unacceptable, period. Also due to the change to the enemies spawn the maps feel much more crowded and in a bad way.
This game is a phenomenal experience. It has a intriguing story, an atmospheric world, a lot of things to do, good graphics and solid mechanics. Would it not be for the sometimes heavy RPG (and therefore "grinding") parts and also not for the very inconsistent difficulty this game would easily be a 10. Sadly because of this some enemy/boss encounters are a chore and drag down the experience. Unblockable attack patterns are the worst in any/hack and slay title.
I am a big fan of LotR and the universe but this game is just tedious and not fun. The bad reputation is well deserved and has as to my experience nothing to do with loot boxes. Just play for more than one hour and you will experience one of the most frustrating single player games (when considering AAA games) ever. It may be by design but the enemies just won't get any less independently on how many of them (also captains) you slay. Look I like a challenge but this game is like an endless horde mode on some different maps sold as a full price game. And on top of that the enemies literally just SPAWN IN ON TOP OF YOU all the times when battling captains. I'm really disappointed about those things in a game that could be lore rich (I don't even touch this subject because it has been covered before) and engaging but somehow I lose interest on the rest some hours in.
In terms of map and enemy design aswell as balance this is the worst FromSoftware game content ever created. PS - I originally had it at a 5 but due to the stupidly unbalanced millwood knights in the tower this gets a 2.
I just have to give this game a bad rating due to high inconsistency with enemies and bosses. All enemies are deadly but some are just unfair with regards to their placement in the map which gives me the sense that they have only been placed between "normal" enemies to infuriate and frustrate the player. Armorer Dennis in the forest of fallen giants, do I need to say more?! This mischief I can't support.
An update to my initial review: This game deserves a 0 on all aspects. The amount of glitches, bugs, hacks, lag, connection errors, "killed by the architects", bad matchmaking... and zero attempts of bungie's side to fix the problems at hand, this game deserves to be one of the lowest rated games ever. People can't even be on the menu when transiting to the tower otherwise they get disconnected, I tried - not joking - 30 times, with resets of the console, with network (lan/wlan) changed, with all kinds of "tricks" to get to the tower but got disconnected for 1h straight, and bungie's solution "you have a strict NAT", no we haven't - all of my friends and the people that encounter that issue have normal NAT 1 or 2 and even with all ports open this games network features are utter garbage - like 30y ago where you could "hope" to play a game in multiplayer due to the (bad) servers. This game deserves all the backlash that it gets, because if as a company your only interest are microtransactions and new payable dlc's you are not deserving any praise. FIX YOUR GAME. And for those people that don't have any of those issues mentioned, here is my initial review (rated 5 for very average and below anything bungie ever did, even Destiny (1) imo: I've played Destiny (1) easily over 1000 hours even tough - in my opinion - the game was severely lacking but the gameplay - mostly the pvp - was pulling me back. It was fluid, paced and engaging. Destiny 2 lacks - as the original - in (almos) every RPG or MMO aspect of the game. The Story is lackluster altough better than the original, the Raid is unfulfilling and the Activities (world, lost sectors, strikes...) get stale fast. The one thing that got me back every time in Destiny (1) - the pvp - is as tiresome as it could get. It's teamshooting at it's finest so that you can't play solo anymore, the slowed down movement makes it more "tactical" (but less fun imo because no more lone wolf"-ing"), the map design is horrendous, the weapons are not balanced (as there are clear dominant archetypes), the pvp is sweaty (already), the Osiris" (competitive gamemode) is countdown (a COD mode that doesn't fit with the gameplay of Destiny) and the community is toxic already... The game is a minimalistic attempt to "improve" a formula that needed change and not stagnation, the weapons themselves are repetitive and not interesting, the exotics (used to be main draw to get in D1) are not special anymore and the long term activities are already boring me/people. This game should be bought at a discount when all DLC's are included.
This game is the worst sh...ever published. The mechanics may be solid but every player that has actually played this game for more than 3 hours knows that it is a grind fest with no real benefit but with a randomized loot table and abysmal developer-support. We're now almost 3 years into the lifespan and since year one the game has only seen two add-ons with horrible (see the critics there) content. Do yourself a favor, don't ever buy this game for your own sake. Because it **** away your joy of life.
First things first, I really like this game. The atmosphere is immersive and the gameplay solid in general. But some of the missions/quests are just tiresome and can be an unbalanced experience. The game truly shines when you are free to engage the enemies/wildlife how you seem fit but if you have to "fight" them in an arena-style map it suffers really bad. It breaks the tension and is just frustrating.
Do you remember how bad the story in Destiny was? Well, this was worse. I'm a long time fan of Halo since 2001 and I have to say compared to this game Halo 4 was good to very **** campaign just had so many cringeworthy moments in it that they undermined the pleasant time I had from time to time. Everything seems so "forced" and the gameplay to fast. I hope 343i gets back to the roots of the Halo franchise and implements that what made the games fun and doesn't as much want to break with the Bungie games and establish something new.
Remember Evolve?! This game is about the same. Cool concept of a hardcore team focused game (MLG) but if you lack a decent team it's just frustrating. Not bad but just not fun. If they do patch/fix the matchmaking then maybe. On the plus side all new heroes and maps will (should) be free - in the end contrary to Evolve.
Doom of L.....O.....A.....D.....I.....N....G I like this game for what it is, a shooter with oldschool gameplay which is fun. The story is "okeyish" but better than none. It's survival, not horror. But what really bugs me is that everytime you die or activate runes or load into a new area (the last part is actually normal, even though not the time it takes) the game has to LOAD. I don't know what there is to load when I just was in that same area one second ago but this game just does this a lot of times. First it didn't bother me but now it's just annoying and takes away from the otherwise entertaining game.
This DLC is fun, in the beginning. It is undoubtedly very hard (compared to the main game) and sadly doesn't ad anything new in mechanics. This results in a frustrating but atmospheric expansion at the same time. But to be quite honest, as opposed to some people that state the boss fights are better than in the main game, I personally thought them less iconic and more repetitiv.
With almost a year after release this game is still not working properly. That should be enough to say no to that money grabbing company called Microsoft. There are just to many problems with this game to even enjoy it. Unbalanced teams, very long loading times, lags, bad Ping, favored US players and so on. But what really bothers me is that if I'm quitting the game for whatever reason, my XBOX reputation gets directly impacted. So you are no longer free to quit unless you want to play with bad rep, and bad rep means other players with reasonable bad rep will be playing with you. Unacceptable!!!
This game is a total scam. Don't download it and delete it. It is addictive until (and even when) you realize that it's just an arcade version of the original game and developed by Microsoft. What does that mean? Everything the PC version stands for and has earned its reputation is not included. Microsoft has no idea what it takes to make a decent balanced and competitive tanks game, so they just add and remove stuff and implement new mechanics into the game. Overall very bad adaptation and an insult to all players who think skill should be the decisive factor in a multiplayer game. Enough said! This game is a money grabbing (if you played it you know what I mean (everything considering premium, very long and rather unpleasant grinding times...)) b**** because otherwise it takes even longer to get decent tanks. So spare your time and get real games by the original developers.
It's nothing special and not worth the money. The new additions are just not balanced as good as the old characters and the game gets stale soon. It's just the same over and over again. No go.
TLOU is a very good game at its core but stumbles over gameplay mechanics. The AI battles (be it human or infected) get repetitive fast. They almost ever require you to decoy-takedown-sneakpast. I understand the great ratings this game gets and they are well deserved (atmosphere, graphic, voice acting, story telling are among the best) but the game isn't flawless. The best parts of the game are when there are no encounters with anything, in this moments it shines. But beware if you get fast bored of repetitive gameplay (meaning scenarios that play out - at their core - exactly the same and there is no denying that a change of scenery doesn't change that drastically) then you have to decide for yourself if the rest of the game is worth the effort. For me it still is, but I can't play this game more than an hour every session (still want to finish it).
This is the worst COD ever created. The means of vertical movement make it unplayable and silly. It is a game for children that want to hop around all day long but for someone with a better idea of tactic or gameplay this is not for you
Unforgiving this game doesn't hold your hand explains nothing at all and asks from you to figure everything out by yourself. If you like this than maybe it's for you. But beware the gameplay gets repetitive and the enemies just stronger and more unfair.
I really like the game but it has flaws. So it is true that this game is somewhat unique, but that doesn't make it immune to critique. My foremost problem is that if you don't have a team of four (or three) friends constantly online and they have time as well as want to play with you, you will miss out a lot of this game. And that bothers me dearly, because that is what this game requires "Teamwork". I often get into matches where half or more of your team is AI-controlled and the other times i got into games where my team consisted of players not up to the task. And how could they. The monster choses last and therefore you can't adapt to it. The matchmaking doesn't allow you to change your class/ type after the monster, therefore you are stuck with your character which isn't potential against this type of monster. For example if you're up against wraith - which still feels little OP right now, even nerfed - you need definetly Hank for shielding as well as Abe for slowing it down. But if you chose neither one of them because you couldn't foresee the monsters choice then you are absolutely in a disadvantage. Maybe other players will say other characters are better but the idea was that you can't adapt/ change your player based on the monster and therefore this game loses a lot. It is not a balanced game therefore. Don't get me even started on the balance. Yes, you can win against the monster and a skilled team is lets say in the first stage a clear winner but if the monster hasn't been detected and has full shield in second stage then you most certainly have a problem considering not everybody knows what to do which is often the case when you play random. Besides, the monster has to much of area effects. It only has to aim in your direction and most certainly will hit you even if not focused on you. Some things I recall: There are the very long loading and matchmaking times. Usually it takes about 5 min plus to get into a game (the game itself not the lobby) and even more so to get into a decent one (reasons follow). Even if you have a group and or play only with friends customs it takes about 3 min to start a game. Sometimes joining doesn't work for friends you have to hard reset the game (like mcc) and even then it is bugged. You often join games which were started long before you joined (you take over AI), there is no choice you get forced to play the default character otherwise you get a 1 min ban. Everytime you quit a game even during the intro cutscene you get a 1 min ban. I get that they want to punish quitters but if you are in a game alone with three AI hunters and one player monster be sure to get your ass kicked because this AI is downright horrible. They have no initiative, but follow you everywhere you go. In a game that is focused on finding the monster fast, this is just boring. So you quit and get a ban (even not that long, but still unreasonable). Even though you can chose a preferable role you most certainly don't end up in it. I would assume in half of the games I played I wasn't what I preferred, and this is normal because others might prefer your character to so its roll the dice. But what is horrible is that I always put the monster last but ended up playing it more than I like in the end. This game forces so many things unto you. You can't change in the options that you won't join ingame matches but only those in search right now - so you could chose your class (which you could in Left for dead). I couldn't set up a private match with my friends because they where multiple times forced out of the lobby or the game crashed and I was left alone. Then they couldn't miraculously join my custom match. I mean this is not how its supposed to be. For a game that is focused purely on multiplayer - I don't recommend this game for any solo players only because the AI is worthless - this part should work. And it should at release not with further patches. For a game in development four years this is pathetic. The wildlife is too aggressive, i mean if you as much as come close as ten meters you get attacked even though you didn't behave aggressive but couldn't see it before. The traps for the hunters (megamouth, plants) are not easily spotted and above all, the creatures damage you too much. Almost as if the whole planet wants to kill you. This is the idea of the game but i come on if I but dare to look at a sloth it downright charges at me? I also noticed some graphic bugs where the shadows stick on your monitor for the whole game. I could go on with this list really but running short of letters. Lastly I have to agree with a lot of people saying that four hunters and three monsters aren't enough. I unlocked all hunters in about each 5 playthroughs and the only thing changing is the level perks. Rent this game with some friends. Have about 1-2 weeks of fun but if you have seen all twelve maps - which look a (very) lot alike - and easily unlocked the characters, give it back. It was a great idea:(
