Pokemon Legends: Arceus8
Feb 1, 2022
It's Pokémon meets Zelda and I'm loving this new style of "open world" exploration. It looks great in my opinion, plays well & is very addicting. It has it's occasional hick-ups (small bugs and glitches) but nothing that affects the core gameplay experience.

The Good Life7
Oct 31, 2021
I'm a SWERY fan and I feel like "The Good Life" is one of the most fun games he has made. It's an addicting action-adventure game with life-sim elements with engaging story and a lot of charm and soul. Even though the gameplay is quite simple and straightforward, there's a lot to do and see and simply put, I cannot put it down. Even though I like it a lot, it does feel a bit dated (which is not necessarily a bad thing for me) and this might put some people off.

moon: Remix RPG Adventure8
Aug 28, 2020
Imagine if Luigi's Mansion, Zelda: Majora's Mask and Mario RPG had a child. This is Moon. A unique "Puzzle/Adventure" that makes satire of the old school JRPG tropes of games like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy and makes you win over the love of monsters, instead of killing them, and help out NPCs with their daily needs and life goals. It's a slow-paced, cleverly designed game where you need to observe the patterns of the world's inhabitants, plan your next moves and discover the world, one step at a time. It's full of humor, great characters and charm.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise7
Jul 23, 2020
The game seems to be a worthy successor to the first title and one that fans of the first game should definitely enjoy! It's full of great dialogues, quirky characters and mysterious atmosphere with the gameplay dragging behind, pretty much like the first game. The frame rate is already much better than the various reviews online show and the game is very playable, no worries about that! If you're interested, don't hesitate and go for it!

The Last of Us Part II10

You should all grow up. There are more than enough videogames out there targeted to braindead teenager boys craving to see girls in bikini and heteronormativity. Let one game be something else, just saying.

Final Fantasy VII Remake10

Amazing re-imagining of the Midgar part of Final Fantasy 7. Loved the visuals, the fleshed-out characters (main and NPCs alike), the dialogues, the battle system is simply amazing, the best one in a modern Final Fantasy game or any JRPG on that matter... The game was made with utmost attention to detail and is a solid 30-50 hour game full of content, personality and great moments. I don't know how it's going to turn out in the sequels but what is already here is great stuff made with love and respect to the original

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition8
Apr 25, 2020
This game is an "ode" to traditional 16-bit JRPGs: it feels and plays like a classic masterpiece. It's huge, it has an overworld map and turn based battle system, beautiful/ colorful visuals and memorable characters. It has a great sense of humor throughout and the story can get very emotional. The Switch version is the best option: new scenarios that really add to character development, more content in terms of quests, story and items, orchestral score and the option to play the entire game in beautiful 2D. The only downside is that it's really linear. Just give it time because it can take a while until it shows it's true potential.

DOOM 6410

If you're a fan of classic DOOM then do yourself a favor and get DOOM64. The level design is amazing, the lighting, the ambiental music, the whole atmosphere is great! The game runs perfectly both docked and portable and it even has optional motion aiming. This the definitive way to play DOOM64 and it comes at an amazing price as well. I'm glad this version was made so I can finally enjoy it the best way possible.

The Missing: JJ Macfield and the Island of Memories6
Dec 25, 2019
This game was not optimized for the Nintendo Switch sadly. I started playing in portable mode and the letters on the screen are too small to read (for example the mobile phone screen menu and the messages you receive are hard to read) and in general things are difficult to make out in portable mode. Also, the select and the cancel button are reversed, probably due to the other versions of the game (B to select and A to cancel)... I'm sure it will be an interesting game and I'm a fan of Swery65 but not putting ANY effort on the Switch version is just disappointing.

If you're interested in a game with great characters and dialogues, dark and interesting story and unique atmosphere, then don't hesitate and go for it. Sure, the gameplay is not great and it has it's fair share of flaws... But look past that and you'll find it is a very unique and memorable experience!! I finished it 2 times already and I would do it again. Can't wait for the sequel too :-)

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night4
Jul 4, 2019
There's really not any excuse for this miserably bad port on the Nintendo Switch. The resolution is unbelievably low, game looks blurry and bland, there's frame rate drops even without any action on the screen (just walking) and there's input lag. Even the sound seems to be compressed... This may be the Nintendo Switch we're talking about but it feels like the 2.5D remake of Castlevania Rondo of Blood on the original PSP. I give it a 4 because it gets the Castlevania feel right but everything else is terrible. The characters and the dialogues are a joke.

Resident Evil 210
Jul 1, 2019
Resident Evil 2 Remake is everything I was hoping it could be and so much more. It elevates the RE2 experience in every possible way and delivers a tense survival horror game with tight gameplay that feels modern and fresh while remaining sufficiently faithful to the original. This is a must play for all Resident Evil fans.

Phantasy Star8
Mar 8, 2019
The first time I played Phantasy Star 1 was on the GBA collection many years ago until I got lost and eventually trapped in a dungeon with very little HP, unable to continue my save file. Now, with the quality-of-life improvements of this version (auto-mapped dungeons, less encounters-higher rewards, item and spell guide) and the amazing FM sound edition soundtrack, this is the best way to enjoy this classic masterpiece! Plus, the game remains very enjoyable to play and quite innovative and modern even to this day: female protagonist set out to avenge the death of her rebel brother, sci-fi meets medieval fantasy, 3 planets to explore, beautiful visuals and pixel-art anime cut-scenes... this game has so much to offer!

Diablo III: Eternal Collection5
Dec 3, 2018
The best description for this game is: basic and dumb. I passed the first hours of the game going from one boring place to another, holding the attack button down till all the dumb cannon-fodder enemies were killed, gathering the loot, equipping the new items, watching some uninteresting badly-written dialogue about the return of evil and basic dark fantasy stuff and repeat. Most of the time you don't even have to dodge anything or make any planning about how to tackle large enemy groups, what items or skills to equip, it's just so brainless and bland altogether. I will raise the difficulty to extra hard to see if that improves anything but even if it makes the game more challenging i doubt it will become any more interesting because the setting is just meh, been there, done that, million times better in other games.

Super Mario Party7
Nov 12, 2018
Super Mario Party does a lot of things right: the minigames are fun, the gameplay feels true to the original games and there is a great selection of different modes and characters. I especially liked the buddy system and the special dice that each character has and the 2 VS 2 mode. However the game feels pretty limited in content: there are only 4 boards for the classic party mode. The minigames for the rafting mode feel too repetitive after 2 runs. The minigames are fun but they could have been a bit more competitive like in the first 3 games. The starts are too cheap (10 coins) and this can lead to easily rack up stars when they appear in convenient places right in front of the previous star for example. Overall i think it's definitely better game than most of the latest installments in the series but it feels short in content and it would benefit loads by added DLC content (especially game boards). Also some customization options would be nice (like to raise the price for the stars).

Mega Man 1110
Nov 12, 2018
This is a great Mega Man game through and through, it classic Mega Man gameplay with tight controls, great level and boss design and difficulty that feels right. It is challenging but never feels too frustrating or unfair, and there are a lot of difficulty options plus items and equipment that can make the game easier. Levels are bigger in size than older Mega Man games and this feels really satisfying. The new double-gear system is really interesting and can really balance things out in certain difficult parts of the stage and make them more manageable but never really easy. The game looks great, plays great and I would definitely recommend it for a good time.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth +8
Oct 29, 2018
I bought this game during the Halloween sale (50%) and i have been seriously addicted to it. The gameplay itself is nothing groundbreaking, it's a 4-direction shooter/action game (with the analogue stick you move and with the 4 buttons you shoot in different directions) but the random factor of the levels/enemies and especially items give this game immense replay value and makes it exciting every single time. The difficulty is also balanced, it is very challenging but it never feels unfair and there's also a nice learning curve for all the random items and mechanics of the game giving you plenty or reasons to dive in again and again.

Hollow Knight8
Jun 26, 2018
This game delivers a sense of exploration and survival in an unknown mysterious world like no other. The fact that the game doesn't really take you "by the hand", forcing the player to discover many things, coupled with difficult enemy encounters that take the player by surprise play a significant role in this [exploration and survival feel]. Plus, the small size and initial "powerlessness" of the main character makes overcoming obstacles and the sense of achievement all the more pleasing.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon8
Jun 26, 2018
This game has been carefully made to reproduce the classic 8-bit Castlevania experience to perfection and even improve upon the classic formula just enough to not feel so dated. Controls are tight, level design is great and difficulty is balanced. The game is rather short on duration but with 4 characters, multiple paths to take and such a classic gameplay it provides a lot of replay value!

Pokemon Quest7
Jun 4, 2018
In the beginning i didn't think much of this game as it is designed exactly like a mobile game (mainly touch controls, waiting over time for things to happen, use special tickets to not wait etc) but as it was for free I gave it a go and I must say it's pretty addictive and fun! It's a whole different way to play Pokemon: it has a real time battle system with cooldown attacks and it has a cooking system in order to attract new Pokemon. The game design is simple for casual playing yet it has sufficient depth and variety and also allows for strategy in creating a good team of 3 Pokemon and move through the different areas. Only downside in the game (apart from the fact that you have to wait for the "battery recharge" until you can move on and do more missions) is the fact that Pokemon move automatically by themselves and many times they tend to be too far away from the enemy in order for a special attack to hit or they might be facing a completely wrong direction and totally miss the targets. Overall I was pleasantly surprised and i think it's good fun.

NO THING7
Apr 19, 2018
What drew me to this game are the aesthetics: minimal environments & trippy colours, reminding me the likes of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Killer 7. And also the price: i bought it on discount for less than a euro. As a game it's also very minimal: the character moves automatically forward like "on-rails" and you only get to input the left and right directions on the right time to turn. The game's challenge comes from the increasing speed as you progress which requires faster reactions, and it can get pretty challenging! There are also multiple ways to finish a level like taking shortcuts or a different route. As you play you listen to a narrator talking moving the story forward and also some very cool electronic ambient tunes. It's an interesting ride for sure ;-)

Syberia6
Apr 3, 2018
Syberia on the Nintendo Switch runs great of course, it is a 15-year old game after all, even though I notice some minor sound hiccups. The thing that I enjoyed most about this port is that you can play the entire game with only one Joy-con at hand and that makes for a really comfortable experience! On the other hand I really did not enjoy the limited 4:3 aspect ratio especially on portable/handheld mode as the screen of the Nintendo Switch is already quite small and reading text like in subtitles or in-game documents was really difficult at times, apart from the fact that you cannot appreciate the environments/graphics as much. The "stretched" widescreen mode is simply ridiculous as the character models are distorted. This is the biggest downside for me about this port, they could really have offered more visual options like a "zoomed-in 16:9 ratio" that fills the screen nicely without distortions...

Bayonetta + Bayonetta 28
Feb 22, 2018
These are 2 of the best action games ever made and the Nintendo Switch version is the best yet due to the versatility of being able to play them both portable and on the TV. In portable mode both games look and play amazingly, in TV mode the game would have benefited from a higher resolution as it is only 720p. There are also some occasional drops in the frame rate but 95% of the time the game runs at a stable 30fps and even the most action-heavy battles play smoothly.
