Long review, so my real score is an 8.5. +This game is great, + the combat is fun, + practically every person on screen has something to say (Coming from so many worlds of uninteractable npcs even a single line of dialogue is nice) + Interesting Yokai, there are a couple recolors, but mostly you find evolved versions, I like the art style. + Positive Dialogue for children, I put on my thinking cap as I played through the Girl's Story, I think she starts off differently and she has different parents because both the girl and the boy exist in the world, there's a lot of good female positive talk in here and most people find positive resolutions to the problems visited upon them by the Negative YoKai Neutral Thoughts: The story is alright, it's not necessarily gripping but it's a kids story and so far 8 hours in it's done fine with keeping my attention, there are plenty of sidequests to do too, I enjoy them as I like to keep a strong team and I like meeting new Yokai and learning more about their world since most Yokai can talk to us and some characters know about Yokai. Negatives/Nitpicks: -The game doesn't go to any lengths to explain some of it's systems, I come from Darksouls and other games that love to just drop you in, I'm fine with that, but I wish it said more in game, gave another option to see what "Caring, Tough, Grouchy" mean or whatever, maybe it's in the EManual, I'll have to check. For this reason, I recommend using a Yokai Watch Wiki or Guide to understand the automated combat and yokai acquisition system better so that you'll have a better experience. I'm a Catch Most of 'em All kinda guy and I like to get a lot of monsters, and fuse lots too, so the relatively low rate of acquisition early on is a nitpick, I'm ok with it because I'm levelling up my main guys but it could be finetuned. -The Combat resolution screens and most especially the quest turnin screens are slow going! I can't imagine any kind of speedrunner doing sidequests in this game, it takes too long because you get a quest complete screen then a little symbol and a sound has to pop up in like 2-3 seconds, then in sidequests a clip plays of the Yokai Watch Anime doing something silly or dumb with a Bingo or Boo afterwards and they're cute the first couple times but you start to have repeats and I don't think they're skippable. I mean, it's not long enough to curb my experience, but it's like watching an Ad in the middle of a youtube video, sometimes they're interesting, but oftentimes they only serve to make you that much happier to get back to the game. Overall, I'm still really happy I bought this game and I have actually enjoyed it enough to give me hope that I'll enjoy LBX, another child story JRPG, as much as I did this.

This game is exactly what it has set out to be, a romping shooter with a few laughs, a lot of fun, multiple deaths you'll want to start over from, and lots of guns, bullets, and craziness. For a little over $2 it's a great experience, a very good mobile game with a great soundtrack (serious, it's like Hotline Miami good, which makes sense, same porter to Vita) No regrets buying this.

TLDR: This game is fun, not masochistic, just difficult, it demands trial and error but you won't be repeating the same level over and over, each level is randomly generated with you starting on the top and the exit near the bottom, all that stands between you is terra firma, Gold, Damsels, and things out to kill you. This game has a Demo, and I highly recommend it. Also, this game is NOT for those who don't appreciate death as a learning experience. People have called it Dark Souls, the Platformer, and it fits that bill with a bit of it's own flair, this game is truly difficult and gets immediately harder after you're out of the first World (Mines) If you're still reading, and the thought of an extreme, randomly generated platformer that is in no way unfair, excites you, give this a shot, as I said, please try the demo first, don't waste your money if you're not into it, it gives you the tutorial, some characters, and the first world to try, you will die lots and you will know it's your own fault, but that knowledge will make you want to try again. And that's the meme of this game, trying again. You will WANT to, getting to the end with hearts, money, and items feels good. The platforming is fun, I love destructible environments, there are lots of traps, sneaky enemies, and vases you cannot entirely trust ever (Pick them up and throw them, they may contain enemies) I wasn't into this game at first, I tried and I tried and I'd keep dying at the 3rd or before leaving the 4th, but you learn. The controls are tight, you don't feel like you were cheated by a death you weren't anticipating unless you didn't know that enemy would explode after you killed it.. :p It really grows on you, what I like most is that the game requires both Patience and Fast Reflexes which is a little odd, most games don't ask for both like this one, it really treats you like an Adult, it was not designed to hold your hand because it lets the game speak for itself. I also like that you can beat the game in around 30 minutes Good F***ing luck doing that though because in Spelunky, just like Dark Souls, this game's Tagline should be: "You Will Die." Graphics: Sharp on the Vita, colors look better on it than my monitor, but no great surprise. Every character is well animated for what can be expected with 2D. Explosions, blood, rock, they all tumble and fall away with gamephysics, everything looks good, it reminds me of remastered SNES Platformers. Gameplay: This is the meat of the game since the story is user generated more or less, and if permadeath gameplay does not deter you and you like platformers, this will be fun. The whip reminds me of Castlevania (Bats make an annoying ****) Each level is 2 1/2 minutes long or so, if you wait longer.. bad stuff happens, and this makes the game progress far without eating up a lot of time, when you know the game and take your time, you will do well. Content feels right for the money, you can find out plenty of what Spelunky is like through Youtube videos or trying the Demo, but I also want to highlight the COOP mode and the Deathmatches (With Bots! Even in Demo!) COOP Mode: Haven't tried it yet (Later, hopefully) but if you have a PS3 and a Vita, there is Crossplay that works brilliantly, you each can have your own screen and no need to stay together as a result. This was definitely one of the driving factors behind my purchase because my GF and I like playing platformers and anything with easily accessible multiplayer gets a thumbs up. DeathMatch mode: This.. is like a fast paced bomberman from a different perspective. In the demo there are only a few maps and the bots are maniacs but there is fast paced fun to be had, in the full version there are a LOT of levels and you can play with a different map each round if you choose random. I expect it to be a lot of fun with 3/4 people since people are a bit more tactical and less likely to bomb everything to smithereens :p (maybe) But I really like that this mode is here and bots can be enabled I should also mention, you can change the amount of bombs/ropes you spawn with too. Story: You make it up as you adventure, this game provides you with a lot of atmosphere and that gives everything you do an impact to you because you know you're progressing and that death and boomerangs are right around the corner. The goal is, of course, some legendary treasure, I've already seen the ending on Youtube runs and it didn't stop me from wanting it :p Replayability: That's this game! Random gen is always a new experience and I hear there are all sorts of secrets hidden throughout the game, even secret levels and areas. Each place gives you new enemies and new challenges. Because you build yourself every time you play, you already know the name of the game and collecting your fave items doesn't get old. Conclusion: I'm not going to give this game a Score but I will say that if you like the Demo even a little bit, keep playing it, and when you get to the end of the Demo, you can decide on your own if pressing X to Unlock the Full game is worth it... But I gotta say, the buildup from all my deaths, and finally after a couple hours of play, making it to the end of the Mines, well, I bought it because my desire to continue was so great. I'm hoping it'll be the same for you

Now I gave some thought whether or not I should buy this game, I was a PixelJunkMonsters Newb, but I really needed a solid Tower Defense I could play on the go or between craziness at home. On careful consideration and attempting the Demo on the PS3, I decided to delve in.. and I gotta say, I know it's a game I'll be sinking many more hours into. What makes it worth buying? Well ask yourself this: Do you love Tower Defenses with maps that can offer a challenge without being gamebreaking? Do you prefer to always have something to do during said TD, including micromanagement? Do you have TD Loving, Vita having Friends? If you said yes to most of the above, buy this game. If you have a PS3, Try the Demo. If you have a PC and don't care about portability, wait for the Steam Release. The game is simple and easy to understand, but rainbowing (Complete without lifeloss) maps can offer challenges. Alll DLC is available from the start, Tum Tum (Random Gen Island) Island can be accessed without having to rainbow maps, but the rest of the islands and most of the content requires you to have rainbowed several maps.. which has lead to my slowdown as I try again and again, all in good fun, to beat more stages without losing a life. It can be difficult, but it's always worth picking back up.

I'm new to the Jak and Daxter series, this is truly my introduction. (Following is based off the Precursor Legacy Gameplay) Now, the game itself is fantastically playable, there's a lot to do in each game and the first one blessedly reminds me of Banjo Kazooie, part of an era of 3D Platforming that we simply haven't returned to. Where collectables floated everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The port itself, is a real shame. The first game is 100% playable, but there's slowdown in some noncrucial moments in the beginning. The camera is archaic and I don't understand why the standard is inverse and then going into First person still gives me ridiculous controls even after I changed it. The camera is just not smooth and it almost seems fruitless to bother with it just let it auto pivot 75% of the time XD Glaring stupidity? There's a choice to turn on and off vibrate in the options. After seeing that, I was surprised to see that they had atleast changed other things to say Playstation vita system as opposed to PS2 when saving. Issues can be patched, but oh, maybe it's just me, but the jump is wonky, I have to press firmly to double jump. Camera and occasionally not working double jump aside... I'm having fun, the first game is good and I hear the ports for the other two are better, so here's to hope. I would really give this game an 8.5 because the port seems rushed, it just lacks polish, but the games are worth the money if you haven't tried them and want them to be portable.

Honestly, this game is beautiful, the gameplay is extremely fluid combat is very fun and the metroidvania style is really well represented in the level design. The Sidekicks are pretty funny, the Nimbat is hilarious and her often silly behavior is a wonderful choice in contrast to Dust's cool demeanor. This game's story is really surprising, you can run through it, jaded, and ignore it if you want, the gameplay is fun enough and the personal evolution of your character and his choices by themselves are worth the price of admission, but if you start paying attention you'll uncover a rich plot covering issues like Racism, the Moral Struggle of Absolute Justice vs Acceptance, and little a brother not accepting the guy his older sister likes. The story, 30% in, is enough to start some conversations with a friend or gaming significant other :) The game will get a full 10 from me because for what it's worth, I can't find a problem with it worth nitpicking, but broken down this would be my score. Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov's Revenge

User ScoreSlizarus

This is a really cute tale about the zombie apocalypse brought about by the mad scientist Tycoon and his struggle to wipe out the last humans on earth. It comes as no surprise that he's got competition, his old mentor Brainhov has a zombie army of his own (the blue "ferals) and wrecks your life in the beginning. The first few levels get you used to the game and it's RTS stylings, you work with your mobile zombie respawner that's armed with a turret when at rest on triangle, then 2 squads of zombies, and a single monster. Now wait, you're asking, where are the zombie hordes? They're mapped to the R button, once you start capturing houses, they'll each spawn a wandering zombie, that when you tap R, they'll all perform a dead run on your target, it's pretty impressive with enough zombies. The gameplay is fun, I was never bored, the missions are almost too short for me (a casualcore RTSer like myself) but there's plenty of little things you have to do to keep you busy, objectives you have to capture, objects you have to work with certain zombies, houses to capture, or even secret trophies to find scattered around. Now, there are a number of little achievements you can get in each level, but, if I'm not mistaken you can't see what they're looking for until after you complete it which means you don't know on your first run what you should do to get trophies (I assume) which is lame. Multiplayer, I haven't tried it yet but it looks so much fun. I am disappointed at the apparent lack of bot gameplay, I guess they figure that later in the game certain missions will be compelling enough to get your fix on PvE. I would love to see this game get attention, I think it's worth it, it's certainly the best handheld RTS I've played. Also. Boss fights, they're pretty cool and I felt, pretty unique. Looking forward to playing more, but I'm so busy with SS, MGS HD, GOW GoS.. oh, sony.

Having been eagerly anticipating this game, I am entirely satisfied that even after tearing through the demo there was loads more to kill in the main game and more of the sick story to be told. Truly the game gets a 10 for presentation and gameplay, I don't think it's a 100% Perfect game though I love the multiplayer, the communication layout is great, and the many sacrifices/saving you're gonna do with people who you could either stomp the playground with or get kicked in the gonads over and over again (There's a world of difference between the newbs and the quick to learn) I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys magic rpgs, multiplayer, and killing freakish monsters in crazy ways.
