I saw how badly the game did in the PS4 / Xbox One but I read that those issues are not present on the PC and I have a fairly expensive gaming PC so I decided to buy it... but I was upset to find that those issues are present on PC as well. I spent about 2 hours with the game, and I was met by a large number of graphical and technical issues including the mouse on the character creation screen teleporting all over the place, the customization options getting stuck upon selecting the randomize option a few times - requiring a restart, and the environment in the opening section bugging out causing all the trees shrubbery in the surrounding area to be drawn in-front of the walls around me covering my screen in trees. It's not much of an experience when you can't even see the NPC's in front of you. How people are giving this game decent ratings is beyond me, I haven't seen a game released this broken in a long long time.

Half-Life: Alyx6
Apr 1, 2020
I've played a lot of VR games and Half-Life: Alyx is certainly one of the more polished ones of the lot. So why did I give it a 6? Well first of all, it fails to do anything new. I was excited for what Valve could come up with with their infinite resources, but unfortunately there's not much to set this apart from other VR titles. It comes with the same bugs i.e. hands disappearing, frame drops, tracking issues and so forth. The mechanics are great, they work well, from the gravity hands, to guns, and combat. However the game really drops the ball on level design. The core loop is extremely repetitive and gets tedious at times. The game is essentially a room simulator with constant lock & key puzzles. 1. You walk into a room, grab some resin, grab ammo, grab health pick ups. 2. You find an enemy fight an enemy or two, and kill them. 3. You find a locked door. 4. You find a way to unlock that door (which is usually a key card, power core, or re-routing some power) 5. You get to the next room and rinse and repeat. This is an extremely dull way of doing puzzles without much creativity, each puzzle gets slightly more complicated but they are all essentially the same puzzle copy+pasted. This is a far cry from the interesting level design of Half-Life 2. As for the story - it's there, stuff certainly happens. Can't fault the game in this sense. Voice acting is good, but can get annoying at times - each time you're about to run out of ammo Alyx exclaims "this is my last clip" as if you can't see the hud. This wouldn't be that bad if not for the fact that you're usually close to being out of ammo. On the subject of ammo - what were you thinking? I've had several encounters where I have no ammo at all, and I end up running around the level whilst under attack hoping to find some here or there, which isn't easy when you die from a few shots. I've also had an encounter with 10 combine soldiers where each one dropped health pick ups but no ammo at all. So I'm expected to kill all these dudes with health pick ups? When you run out of ammo that's it, there's no way to fight back, Half-Life 1 / 2 didn't have this issue as you had the crowbar. This is a big oversight as well. The game can be fun and interesting at times, but tedious and annoying at others.

Mortal Kombat 112
Jul 7, 2019
The story is sub-par, the actual 'kombat' is really dull when compared to other fighting games like Tekken 7, the x-ray moves are getting more and more ridiculous. It seems their main focus was on making the game as ridiculously gruesome as possible rather than actually good gameplay wise. Mortal Kombat peaked with MK9 - I loved that game and spent hundreds of hours in it... this is like a dumbed down boring version of it. Don't give it the time of day.

The most fun and immersive VR experience I've played to date! And after the main story is completed there's a lot of replay-ability with challenges, collectibles and more. I felt like John Wick playing this, doing trick shots and dodging bullets. So good.

Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn10
Sep 23, 2013
The best MMO I've played, hands down. I've put countless hours into WoW, and I've played almost every mainstream MMO in the west, and I have to say, this game has the best combat, and the least boring leveling system I've seen so far. The most important part to me of any MMO, would be the end game, and A Realm Reborn has a serious amount of difficult dungeons, raids, quests, as well as other challenges for you to complete once you reach level 50. The boss fights are amazing, most of them feel new and innovative, and they are always challenging. And now, only a few weeks into the release of the game, they have already announced the first patch, that will bring even more end-game raids and dungeons, as well as many other features. This MMO is looking very promising indeed.

Dota 29
Jul 27, 2013
Dota 2 is exactly what it should be, a hardcore player vs. player arena game, with endless replay ability. Dota 2 has 102 characters so far, that means you'd have to play 102 rounds of dota to experience and learn each character, or more, with each round taking about 20-30 minutes. There's lots to do in this game, and it's great considering you can get it for free, the dota shop is optional and not game-play related too. The only downside to the game is that although it is being constantly patched, some characters shine stronger than others, but I suppose that problem will always be there with games like this.

The game was amazing. The environments were just as amazing as in the previous game, but they got the combat right this time. This game has the best stealth game-play I've seen up to now, and I've played all the Metal Gear games. The game tends to pit a large amount of enemies against you that you can't possibly take out head on, but there are always ways to slip past them, or silently dispatch them. What I liked about the game, is that it doesn't put focus on you killing everything that you sight. No matter who you encounter, you can either stealth past them, run away from them, or knock them out without killing them, which is a bit more sensible than most games today, where you brainlessly kill things. After all, the player character is someone trying to save his own race from extinction, it wouldn't make sense if he walked around killing any human that showed any hostility towards him. It's a great game, with a great story, a great setting, and great game-play, I really cannot find any flaws in it.

BioShock Infinite7

Everything is brilliant about this game, except for the combat. It becomes way too repetitive and turns more into a chore than a fun experience later on, as you're faced with waves of the same enemies again and again, till eventually you are allowed to walk into another room, where the same thing resumes.

It's a great game! The character and enemy design is great, the game all looks very appealing. The only downside would probably be combat; it's not great. The game is not very challenging, it's a grind fest. The game has almost no strategic elements and stats are everything, there weren't many challenging fights, in fact some boss battles were so easy I could have 75% of the party dead with more than half the bosses health left, and still take him down without problem. The game is great in many ways, but combat is important to me, and the combat in this game just felt like a huge grind fest, where metrics are more important than skill.

Skyrim is a great game on it's own, whilst not as good as it's predecessor Oblivion, it's still quite fun to play. It's best on the PC due to community mods, It has mods for everything, you can get mods to fix bugs, improve the look of the game almost two fold, add loads of new content and more, and it's free and easy to do thanks to Steam! It's a great game, you can log upwards of 100 hours into it and still be playing.

I was very surprised with the game, mostly since I heard so many people whine about it. There's nothing wrong with the game, it's DMC with the same Dante, just earlier on in his life. Plus you unlock the white haired look when you beat the game once. Difficulty was not a problem, I played it on the 3rd difficulty out of 7 I believe, was mildly challenging. Unlocked the next one and got destroyed, and I'm a guy who's amongst the top 100 players on several missions on the leaderboard. The language was quite crude at points, but that's pretty much a trade mark of the series. The level design was quite great, I loved the limbo areas. Can't say there's anything bad with the game at all! Maybe that it lacked content, could have had more, I finished it in about 20 hours, but there are more difficulties to play through.

A true masterpiece, I have a powerful PC, running the game on high settings smoothly, It's beautiful, immerse, and most of all realistic. This game has the best stealth combat I've seen in a game since MGS, when sneaking around hostile humanoids, you're usually forced to avoid trip wires, traps, and noise making, the game always forces you to mind your surroundings. Anyone expecting a call of duty shooter will be disappointed, most guns are inaccurate, ammo is scarce, and you die very quickly. For those reasons you must try to avoid enemies, or sneak up on them and dispatch of them unaware. But the combat is never unfair, if you get gunned down by a pair of enemies, its your own fault. The best part about the game is probably the constant spooky atmosphere. Just looking around several times I was wowed by how well the tunnel systems are lit and laid out. Encounters with ghosts were probably the best parts.

Final Fantasy X-26
Jan 8, 2013
Probably the worst final fantasy to date. I thought the story was horrible. They took final fantasy x and made a terrible sequel aimed at a completely different audience, I didn't like anything about it. I played it solely for the fact that it's a final fantasy with familiar characters.

Final Fantasy XIII-27
Jan 8, 2013
FF XIII-2 was quite disappointing not in the way of gameplay or story, but instead in it's repetitiveness. When I play a FF game, I love to do everything in it, and I mean everything. This game was no different, I put time into getting every achievement. The main point of this game is that you travel through time and space, and you return to familiar areas quite often but in different time lines / parallel universes. This sounds good and all, but the level design is so lazy at times, that all they do is change a few textures, and slightly edit a few models rather than put real effort into the games and make the levels look different. Being a level designer myself I'm quite disappointed by the level design in this game. The story was enjoyable, but not the best.

Final Fantasy XIII8
Jan 8, 2013
The problem with this game, was that it was way too linear. Square Enix basically made a game compromising of 13 chapters and about 50 side quests, and then they made the players wait till Chapter 11 before they could even start doing any of the 50 side quests. Their justification for this was that the combat system is completely new to the series, and that players need extra time to learn it, but they took it a bit too far, forcing us to play past 40 hours of content before the real game began. But if we set that aside, everything else about the game is amazing. I did everything in this game. The strongest monster in the game was a big harmless grass eating turtle, who was so massive you had to break it's legs before it would fall down and then you could deal damage to it's head. I thought that was kinda unnecessary and a bit over the top, but go figure. I loved the story and loved the combat system past the first 40 hours. 8/10 for the Xbox version as it's graphics are not as good as the PS3 versions.

Final Fantasy XII10
Jan 8, 2013
Final Fantasy XII is an amazing game, like all Square Enix games. This game is probably the best Final Fantasy in terms of things to do. You could spend 50 hours on the main story line, and then have content worth another 100 hours still left to do, and whats great about it is that it gives you ultimate freedom. Tired of doing the story line? You can go do mark missions, or find side quests, or just explore and level up. The game has some of the best boss battles of the FF series, and wonderful areas to explore. A lot of people seem to hate the new combat system, but I for one love it and think it was a great change new change to their games up until this point.

There's a reason why Square has been around for so long, and that's because they make amazing games. Final Fantasy X is an amazing game, at the time of it's release it had amazing graphics and cut-scenes, but it was also bundled with an amazing story and appealing characters, as well as a great combat system, awesome boss battles, and wonderful areas to explore. There was so much to do in this game, I've spent over 300 hours in several playthroughs of this game and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Best game of the decade, hands down. The Source engine rivals most games today graphics wise, and yet it was released back in 2004, more than 8 years ago. Amazing. It's not just it's amazing engine, it's also the gameplay as well as the subtle story that makes this game what it is. Half-Life is probably the best known video game franchise ever, spawning loads of spin-offs and mods to make Valve loads of money.

Dead Space 26
Jan 8, 2013
I bought this game wanting a horror experience, I wanted to be scared, to be thrilled. Surprisingly the game lacked in both. I was bored through the majority of the game, at first I was slightly nervous at what kind of scares they would throw at me, but there just aren't any good ones. The only times I felt scared... or thrilled I should say, is during some boss battles, but even then, if I died the game would just reload to an autosave 30 seconds earlier. It was a dull experience throughout, it was probably more frustrating than scary, due to the fact that some areas are so dark, that you can't even see the enemies attacking you, it didn't scare me it just pissed me off.

Valkyria Chronicles10
Jan 6, 2013
A great game, both gameplay wise and story wise. The characters capture you instantly, so whenever something bad happens, you truly feel sorry. The combat is turn based in a way, but it's always satisfying to take out an enemy to the very end... and the game isn't short either, it took me over 60 hours to complete. There isn't much to do besides the main story, but it's always exciting to get the occasional side quest/mission and learn more about each character.

Dishonored5
Jan 6, 2013
The game is horrible on the PS3, it's a first person stealth, fast paced game. Playing it on the PC is the only option. The environments are amazing, the story is great, but on the PS3, it's almost unplayable. You're supposed to climb up buildings, walk along ledges, sprint away from enemies in some cases, and these things are almost undoable on the PS3, because it's almost impossible to see where you are going, or control your actions well enough. This game can't be played with the Dual Shock controller.

TERA8
Jan 6, 2013
I played TERA since the beta, I pre-ordered it, was very excited for it. It did not let me down. I stopped playing it after having two characters over level 50 (Maximum was 60), and I enjoyed the experience quite a lot. There were some flaws with it, like the fact that the leveling was quite repetitive. You'd kill a few monsters for a quest, and then you'd do the same thing again with different monsters, all the way to level 60. The customer support was bad, and not a lot of people played it, which was a problem. What made the game amazing however, was the combat system, and the BAM (Big ass monster) battles. Every once in a while you'd come across a 5 man quest or dungeon, and that's where the game really began. The boss battles were very well designed, the combat was fun as a mage or warrior, and I loved the graphical style of the game. But eventually I stopped playing it since the community died out.

Demon's Souls (2009)9
Jan 6, 2013
What's great about Demon's Souls is that it always gives you a choice of what you'd like to do. There are so many things to do, and the game never forces you to travel down a single linear path. The only downside to the game may be that some enemies are slightly imbalanced, and it is also possible for you to screw up your play-through and be forced to restart. But even after restarting the game twice, I still felt like defeating some of the bosses I'd already killed, just to progress to the very end. It was a fun experience throughout.

Dark Souls10
Jan 6, 2013
Dark Souls is a true masterpiece, in my eyes the best game of this decade so far. The game is notorious for it's difficulty, and a lot of people seem to down rate it just because they become frustrated whilst playing it. When playing Dark Souls, you need to be in a set of mind that the game is SUPPOSED to be difficult, in this game, clearing an area or beating a boss is a true accomplishment, it's something you worked hard to achieve... And whilst it is true that Dark Souls is very difficult at first, it is never unreasonably difficult, if you are dying on a boss, it's because you are doing something wrong, not because the game is too hard. Each boss requires a certain strategy, there's never an enemy that's a pushover. This is a game, where you need to use your brain to progress, the weakest enemies in the game can kill a character that's cleared the game with only a few strikes, but then that wouldn't happen, because you would have learned to evade them so well. It's a game where you're constantly forced to say, what if I tried this, or what if I dodged this way instead, till eventually you figure out the proper way to defeat an enemy or boss. The difficulty in Dark Souls lies not in overwhelming enemy stats or bad balance, it lies in the level of skill required to play it; the game is perfectly balanced.
