A fantastic start was let down by a mediocre and annoying endgame. I really loved the first five chapters, but as the difficulty spikes halfway through, so does the repetitiveness. The game could have ended in half the time, and been all the better for it. Everything that waits after that halfway point is just a bit boring and doesn't pay off.

Wow. Just wow. I just finished this game, and it's absolutely incredible. Never did I think a 90+ rated game could be underrated. Since 2001, Final Fantasy 10 has always been my favourite game, but I think it might have been usurped by a game that takes a lot of inspiration from its overall tone. The story is incredible. Sad, but beautiful and moving, with well-written characters and a familiarity about it. The visual artstyle is phenomenal, the world has a unique uncanniness about it, wih the early on flying waters being a particular highlight. The music is very reminiscent of that Zanarkand scene from ffx, but stretched through the entire game, heart-wrenching when it needs to be, and powerful and intense at the right moment. The combat is challenging, but rewarding. At the beginning, I feared I was never going to get the hang of it, but now I'm parrying away enemies way above my level. It's really fun to take down the big bosses by parrying them to oblivion, or by devising a careful strategy using the picto-system, which is fun, but can be a bit overwhelming, as there are just so many possible strategies. Lastly, this is the only jrpg game I know that allows status effects to be useful against bosses, things like burn stacking are a viable strategy, while not being overpowered. I cannot put into words how shaken I am by this game, I thought games like this had died 20 years, but here the genre attains a new high.

Cursed to Golf is a fun game that ruins itself with one fatal flaw. You can't save between holes and it takes too long to reach its difficult bosses. It took 2 hours to get to the second boss, and that's too much for a roguelite run. The first levels are great, but the second set of levels are way too long and that's when it stops being fun. I really want to love this game, but not being able to rechallenge bosses unless I play another 2 hours, is just not enjoayable.

I loved the original Crisis Core, and I was so worries Square was going to give it the FF7 Remake treatment, but I'm happy that they left the original pretty much intact. The gameplay and story hold up well and I still love it. I hope they make a proper FF7 remaster faithful to the original like this one day. Loved it! One thing that's a bit weird/jarring at times is that Gameplay is graphically more enhanced than some cutscenes, meaning in-game looks a bit better at times. I think they only upressed the cutsccenes while they actually overhauled the gameplay segments, not sure. For the rest, this is absolutely perfect.

The fact that only .8% of the players completed this fairly short game says it all, avoid. Quite enjoyed this game until the hitting shark game, the controls are just not made for something like that, and it wasn't fun, so I quit. Edit: finished it and I really wished I hadn't. The AI is so broken that on Medium difficulty the opponent's goalie is impossible to beat, but even a maxed out own goalie is still crap. The opponent keeps scoring from a long range, while I can't even score from closeby with a max-power. That's not fun and challenging, that's broken. On Easy it's so easy it's not fun, I lose 5-1 on medium, win 10-0 on easy, crappy balancing. Also, why the hell is a tie an automatic loss? Program in some extra time or golden goals. This is what you get when an American team thinks they can make a football game, they just don't get it. It has a lot going for it, and I really wanted to like it, but it comes up short in every area.

A fantastic step in the right direction, marred by two steps back. I really love some of the direction, actual character archs and some battles are actually challenging too, both are incredibly refreshing. I also love some of the new Pokemon (especially Pawmot), and overall really enjoyed it. That said, you can't avoid the poor poor poor performance, the framerate is terrible and sometimes distracting. The other annoying this is that the game only pretends to be open. If you want a good experience, you have to follow the route that's now listed on many websites, you can't just go anywhere, cause the levels don't scale. Either make it closed, or make the levels scale. I really liked the game, but there are some undeniable issues. -------------- Updated to a 9 because of the fantastic ending, emotional stuff like that in a Pokemon game, mind blown!

First of all, if you're not into JRPGs, don't play this game, this is the most JRPG game to ever JRPG. It really feels like they threw all the JRPG-tropes and gameplay elements at the wall and seen what sticks, sometimes that works great, sometimes it falls flat. I loved Xenoblade 1 DE (might be my favourite game of all time) and 2, and I really wanted to love this game too, but sadly, it fell short for me. First the gameplay, it's ridiculously easy to get overleveled, which takes away any challenge. I had about 20 bonus levels left that I never used and was still about 10 levels too high. If you play all the sidemissions, you're guaranteed to be overleveled halfway through, and that meant that I spent most of the fights on auto-battle as there was no challenge to it. As you can't unlock a class if you're 5 levels or more higher than the monster you're fighting, it also makes unlocking classes more difficult than in needs to be. An option to level down from the start would be really nice. Added to that, chain attacks are way too powerful, they can beat unique monsters 5 levels higher, even if they have more than half health. This makes it extremely repetitive, because instead of a tactical battle, it's just a race to the chain attack, especially with a particular healer class late game. Storywise, there's a lot that gets set up that doesn't necessarily have a fulfilling conclusion, as a fan of the first two, I'm a bit disappointed. Lastly, the graphics. The art style is absolutely gorgeous, but the limited power of the Switch means they needed to make some choices, and those aren't always the right ones. Some textures look like PS2 days, while at other times the game is absolutely stunning. At some points it's the most beautiful game on Switch, but at others it's similar to Pokemon Sw&Sh. The good: The characters, the first 30 hours of gameplay and story The bad: Became very boring and repetitive in the end, story didn't deliver on its early promise, graphics are hit and miss. Sadly, I'm a bit disappointed. The first half of the game gets a 9, the second half gets a 5, averaging out at 7.

This game doesn't always look great, but damn it's fun to play. It's actually fun to catch Pokemon again, I'm having a blast! Alpha's are a fun mechanic, they actually feel dangerous. The game gets dark too, actually mentioning death a few times. I just hope they make this a series, because this is so damn cool. Had to take a point away for the graphics, especially in the water it doesn't look great, but the Pokemon themselves look great, so I really don't mind it. You kinda just forget about it.

I won every match fairly easily up to that point, and can still win the tetris parts, but once it hits Puyo, Rulue just combo's like crazy, filling half the screen in mere seconds. This is just unbalanced, and not fun. Too bad, as I loved Puyo Puyo 1. Edit: So, I guess the game doesn't auto-change the difficulty on retry, as I went back into it, and won easily. Work on the balancing for the auto-difficulty please, as there's no way it should've bumped up that high.

This game is absolutely gorgeous, the art direction is phenomenal. It's the first actual 'Next-Gen' experience, it uses the rumble and the triggers very well, everything loads extremely fast and the water effects are mindblowing. Added to that, it's also fun and challenging with a great story. You'll become emotionally invested in Kena's beautiful story. The gameplay is unexpectedly challenging, there were many of deaths, and only on of them (I got hit by an enemy AFTER knocking the main boss out) felt unfair. It's genuinely rewarding to figure out the bosses and get the best of them. The only reason it's not a 10, is because there were a few glitches (one of the bosses disappeared during the fight for example) and sometimes it's a bit confusing where to go. If it wasn't for those issues, this would've been a straight 10.

This remake is a game I really want to love. The original is my favourite game ever and for the first few hours, my mind was definitely blown. Even on the base PS4 the visuals are very nice, although it's not the bestlooking game on PS4, it's pretty close. and I really enjoyed the first 10 hours or so. I'm 30 hours in now and haven't finished the game yet, so I may change this review in the future, but at the moment, I'm a little disappointed. I really expected to love this game and finish it in one weekend, but it's been a month and I find myself having to force myself to play it. It's not a bad game by any means, but there's something about it that just makes it fall short of loving it. It might be that there's too much filler or that it's a bit too linear for my liking, or that there's hidden loading screens (elevators/narrow passage ways) everywhere. I really don't know. The dialogue is a bit stilted and not well aligned, that doesn't help either. The storychanges are pretty decent so far and I enjoy it when I play it, but there's nothing that makes me want to jump in and finish it, except wanting to know the ending. Edit: finished it now and bumped it down a point, too much filler, not enough substance, the ending made no sense.

I enjoyed 90% of this game, and for most of it I was doubting between 8 and 9. It has a few too many design flaws to be a 9, so 90% of this game is a solid 8. The thing I really like is that you can customise the game to fit your play-style, you can modify it to make it easier or harder and you can make it fit your visual style as well. And then the 'final' level comes in. This is a 30 minute level with no checkpoints and it's just so hard it stops being fun. I played through the entire game with relative ease, using no modifiers to make it easier, got all 48 beetallions and still can only make it to 47% of the final level. Every run takes about 15 minutes before I die as well, so it's not like I can easily trial and error this. The entire concept just goes out the window, the entire game you can customise the difficulty level and then they end it off with this. I'm disappointed. I'd say I'm probably an average gamer and without a buttload of practice, I'll never be able to finish this game. Four bossfights, impossible platforming and no checkpoints, there's just no point to even keep trying. Games are supposed to be fun and for almost the entire game before this point, this game was just that, customisable fun. It's sad they threw that whole concept out of the window for the last level.
