Mighty No.9 has to be one of the biggest letdowns of all-time. For 3 years, I anticipated this game and supported it...only for a mediocre (at best) product to be released. The marketing for it was terrible, the delays were frustrating, and the final product was a massive disappointment. The graphics aren't up to the same standards of similar titles these days, the game doesn't feel like a Mega Man game, the music is all over the place, and the design is bland as can be. I feel bad for everyone who donated to the Kickstarter campaign for this.

I want to like this game, I really do. Unfortunately, it is designed to be one of the worst kinds of "FREEMIUM" models I've seen. If this game were a $20 one-time purchase that granted you access to all modes/characters, it would be a worthwhile investment. However, that is not how it is structured. The roster is nice and consistently growing over time; despite a good number of characters being palette swaps (ex: Winter Soldier & Punisher). Unfortunately, obtaining characters is a chore that is designed to break you down and tempt you to buy character crystals. But can you buy the characters you want? No. You buy crystals that give you a chance at a character that inevitably will end up burning you and stealing your actual money. If you play Versus, it is horrible. The game does not put you against opponents with the same level of characters that you possess. Instead, they start you off against people who are absolute cakewalks and slowly builds up to opponents who have characters so far beyond yours that you have to hit them 90 times before they hit you 10 times to win. It's ridiculous, unfun, repetitive, and designed to wear you down. You can always compete in tournaments for characters by playing this Versus option, but you would literally have to play every 2 hours every day for 3-7 days (depending on the tournament) and even then you only get meager rewards. Avoid this.. It's a black hole of wasted potential

I thoroughly enjoyed this remake of Splatterhouse and to anyone who is a fan of the old games, I say this is a must have game. The mainstream critics were overly harsh on it and I'm not entirely sure why, as I found only two flaws slightly long loading times and (not necessarily a flaw) the game can get really hard. Those things aside, I think the games graphics are fine with nice artistic direction really nailing that feeling ****, horror-inspired game that Splatterhouse by all means should be. The voice acting, especially from Jim Cummings as The Terror Mask, is spot on. The gameplay mechanics are solid and satisfying, with Splatter Kills and special moves being extremely fun to pull off. The heavy metal background soundtrack is also a nice touch and very effective without getting in the way of the experience. All in all, this is just a balls to the wall, gory, over-the-top blast and if given the chance, should entertain anyone who doesnt have a weak stomach or snooty morals against gore/obscenity. This game is fun, and the added fact that you can unlock all 3 previous Splatterhouse games is another major plus.

This is a solid game worth playing if you are an RPG fan. It's not as good as Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's a nice reimagining of a classic Chinese folk tale that should keep any fans of FFTactics satisfied. It's colorful, quirky, and has a decent story/characters.

This is one fun, addictive game, to say the least. The art style is great, and the sense of humor adds a nice personality to the game that is lacking in so many others similar to Borderlands. The combination of elements from FPS games, action RPGS, and games like Fallout 3 all add up to a fun experience, even if the game is affected by a lot of minor flaws (they are all easily overlookable through the fun that is to be had though). This is truly fun multiplayer, but unfortunately the single player experience can be a little bit lacking, as the missions, dialogue, and driving combat are often obviously geared towards a team and not a sole vigilante. Setting this fact aside, if you have friends to play with, this is a great way to kill lots and lots of hours.

I find this game to be a lot of fun. Gore and sexuality through the roof, and blood, blood, blood, blood, blood. The combat is more refined than it was in the first one and the graphics are a huge step in the right direction. The cheat codes spice things up, and this is just a fun hack-n-slash title to pick up and play every now and again. It's campy, it's gory, it's sexy, and it's very enjoyable.

It's very nice to see this updated version of the SNES's Mega Man X. The graphical touches are nice, and everything runs smoothly but the best part is that some of the hidden items have had their locations switched up so veteran players will have some fresh secrets to discover. This is simple, fun, retro goodness and is a must play for any fans of the Mega Man franchise.

I never cared for the original Final Fantasy in any of its previous incarnations, but I recently gave the PSP port a shot and I am so glad I did. This is the definitive version of the game, with design upgrades that make it quite nice to look at and extra dungeons that give the player something challenging to attempt. The story and gameplay works all the same, with just some basic tweaks such as set magic usages being replaced by the now commonplace MP system (which is a major improvement) and some names being adjusted due to latter entries in the series creating more popular names (ie: Life is now Phoenix Down, Imps are now Goblins, Ice is now Blizzard, Orbs are now Crystals, etc). This is a must play for any RPG fan and a must own for any Final Fantasy fans. Just be prepared to wander around aimlessly searching for hints as to what you're supposed to do next, as you often have to fetch a hidden item from some dungeon or town in order to be able to progress to the next section of the game. Great game though, and a very fun/challenging way to kill 20-25 hours.

The roster here is great, even if there are a few names like Chris Jericho absent from the game (for now, at least). But the Predator technology used to revamp the gameplay is the selling point, as it makes matches so much better than the SvR series. Fans of the n64's No Mercy should enjoy WWE '12. The only downside is the story mode is kinda "meh," but other than that, I have no complaints. Well...besides Randy Orton being on the cover (he's boring).

This is possibly the best Spider-Man game I have ever played. For the better part of the last decade, Spidey games have all been sandbox games with bland graphics and repetitive missions. Those games made it look like there was a violent crime in New York City every 5 seconds on every 5 blocks, and just didn't engage me at all. **** Dimensions removes that problem by having definitive, well-structured, visually appealing LEVELS. Each level has a boss, and each dimension has four levels. They are all fun and unique in their own right, and the voice acting is superb. As a Spider-Man fan, no game has ever hit the spot quite like this one. It was an awesome experience and fun I'd love to experience more of in the future.

This game has one of the most engaging stories I've seen in a long time in gaming, and I'm very glad that Atlus was willing to stick their neck out and release something fresh/original in today's era of bland, cookie-cutter games. The game looks great, sounds great, and is very involving. The puzzle levels can be hard, but if you scale things back to Easy Mode they are never anything that can't be overcome with some **** they add so strongly to the stressful/paranoid vibe the games story portrays. This is something unique in a mediocre world, and is what I would consider a top title to list if arguing that video games can be viable art forms. Great job, Atlus.

Pros: Fantastic AI that responds cleverly and realistically, as they will run if you are overpowering them and they will flee if a building is coming down around them (instead of standing there still shooting at YOU). The graphics are gorgeous (more on that in CONS section). The racing is fun and the gunplay/gameplay is satisfying and visceral. Cons: The graphics have minor pop-in issues, but those are easily overlookable. However, a major problem is the plot - or rather, the complete lack of one. There is no antagonist either. Nothing. Not even a final boss battle. One of the biggest let down endings ever.

Okay, this game is HARD. Super hard. But it is so from being legitimately challenging. It is so frustrating, but never insurmountable. I beat this game and am proud of it. The last 3 levels are brutal, so be prepared if you try to make it to the end. The art style is fantastic, but the story is a bit nonexistent. For the sheer hardcore, quality gameplay though, I definitely recommend this to old school gamers looking for a challenge.

The immense negative feedback to this game is completely ludicrous. The best argument is that it's not like Dragon Age: Origins, and that is completely unfair. The fact is that DA:O did a few things better than DA2 does, and that DA2 does a few things better than DA:O did. The combat isn't better or worse, it's just a different style. DA:O may have had a more epic tale, but DA2's focus on one man's family and struggle is of a different tone. The characters are still brilliant, and the dialogue is still entertaining. The more defined art style choices help improve DA2. The boss battles are epic, and the DLC is high quality with variety of missions including brawls, hunts, stealth, etc. The best thing to come out of DA2 is that if Bioware takes the best bits of DA2 and blends them with what people loved about DA:O, then Dragon Age 3 will be a truly fantastic classic ****. Don't listen to the negative reviews, as they all seem based in hatred of change. DA2 is not a step backward nor is it a step ****'s a step sideways that allows the Dragon Age franchise to fine tune it's personality, style, atmosphere, world, and gameplay.

I have had an infinite amount of issues. The combat. It's boring dialogue. Copy and paste dungeons. Lack of variety. Quantity over quality. Environments are repetitive. Disarm shouts making you lose your weapons permanently. Consistent freezing. Quests being impossible to complete due to glitches. Constant trips to sell/store items due to being overencumbered. Repeat voice actors. Won't let me fast travel even if there isn't an enemy near me. Too much walking. Lockpicking breaks don't reset my pick to where it was when it broke. No reason to care about my character's role in the story. Dragons become repetitive too after you've fought 10 of them. All the mountains in my way ... WHY CANT I CLIMB?! Also, no distance meters to show me how far target locations are. ...some quests I can't do because I need a key from another quest I haven't gotten yet. All of these glitches and issues... ...all of these glitches and issues.... ...yet I love the game. It is very easy to overlook the technical hiccups due to just how immersed you can become in this wonderfully crafted world. I think they just tried to put *too much* in, and in doing so were unable to fix every little glitch. This game looks great, can be played however you want to play it, and is a definitive RPG for the ages.

This is another case of a definitive version of a Final Fantasy classic game, much like the PSP rerelease of FF1 (and FF4, which came out recently). The game looks great and improves upon the original version in every way needed. This Final Fantasy is also interesting in that the leveling up is completely unique and different from what is standard in RPGs and Final Fantasys alike. Instead of gaining overall experience points and gaining a level after a specific amount has been obtained, the player improves based on what they are using (ie: your hit points increase if you get hit, your strength goes up if you attack, etc). This can be frustrating, especially when you are given a new 4th party member repeatedly who is vastly behind the curve. This is a unique title that is worth a look but might not be for everyone. Thankfully, the difficulty has been scaled back slightly to make things both more accessible and more fun.

User ScoreRicochetPhoenix
Jan 20, 2013
This is THE definitive Mortal Kombat and a strong return to form for the series. The combat (kombat?) itself is faster, more fluid, and easy to pick up. Most characters have unique play styles and it is fun to experiment with finding your favorites. It's gory and satisfying, and the story mode is the new standard bearer for all future fighting games. The seamless integration of fights into the story modes cutscene is flawless (see what I did there? ^__^ ) and this is the kind of storytelling I'd love to see in Blazblue, Street Fighter, Tekken, and all other fighting games. Especially with this being the first big fighting since Marvel vs Capcom 3, it is even more obvious how great this game is in comparison, looking at how much MvC3 was lacking in not just story mode, but in extra modes and content. Mortal Kombat has lots of stuff for you to do with the Krypt, challenges, arcade mode, tag matches, tutorials, training, and more. Lots of work was put into this game and it shows. However, there are a few flaws, among them is Shao Kahn's insane cheapness that makes you have to fight like a complete coward in order to win. The Krypt has good stuff in it, but it's all vague and **** in order to get everything you really need to grind, grind, grind, and grind through arcade mode and the challenges. It's most advisable to just beat Story Mode (which gives you 100,000+ tokens) and then look at a list online for what number the items you want in the Krypt are. Other than that, I have to praise the roster, the art style, and the combat. It's a job well done and I think this game sets the bar for what other fighters should aspire to offer. This felt like a $60 well spent, unlike Marvel vs Capcom 3 which was the bare minimum and left me feeling ripped off.

This is the definitive version of Final Fantasy IV, despite The After Years and Interlude not being quite as good as the original classic RPG. I found the DS version of FFIV to be entertaining, but the graphic style just didn't do it for me, and I feel that since this PSP rerelease is a more refined 2D art style, it is the more visually appealing game between the two. The actual FFIV still holds up and this is the best version of it with extras for fans (viewing the extra games as extras here)

I stuck it out to the end, and it's just NOT a good game at all. Ending ****. They pulled the same protagonist switch last minute as they did in Red Dead. The Truth/Doubt/Lie system doesn't work at all in interrogations and should let you see options for what your character will actually say/ask. The graphics glitch constantly. Poor camera framerate. Routine/predictable level setups. No payoff. So many problems in this game just make it a waste. Good ideas but horribly executed. Mirror's Edge, to me, was an excellent concept that was executed a bit poorly. The idea of free running around rooftops with parkour and jumping skills while in first person **** interesting - and could be a blast if done right. And at times, it is a blast in Mirror's Edge - when you know what to do and the controls don't screw you over or confuse you. Most of the time you will be forced to stop dead in your tracks and stumble around the environment looking for the next thing you're supposed to jump to, jump from, or climb **** it kills the momentum and the fun. Much like Sonic, for a game that hypes itself on being all about speed, it loves to slow you down to a halt about 90% of the time. Also, the combat in this game is horrendous and arguably broken but definitely cheap. Once again, just like with speed, for a game that's all about running it loves to put you into tight spaces where fighting is the only option, and the protagonist Faith is severely lacking in this area. To put it frankly, this game is frustrating 3 times more often than when it is fun. The gameplay mechanics just didn't gel properly and needed more work. As for the aesthetics though, I love the sterile feel that the pastel colors provide to represent this totalitarian utopia. It is a nice looking game, but even flaws come up there as the cutscenes are all done in a different style of choppy, sloppy, hand-drawn animations that just clash with everything else in the game. All in all, this game is worth a rental as there are some fun moments to be had (especially the chase scene near the end of the game where there are enemy runners after you) and some interesting set pieces as **** I can't justify paying much more than $10-15 on it. It's just flawed, but you can see the foundation for a potentially brilliant sequel in the future.

The idea of a horror game based around HP Lovecraft's "Shadow Over Innsmouth" short story is awesome, and it's a real shame that this game fails to deliver in every way other than the storytelling aspect. The game is way too dark and grey/brown to ever tell what is going on and you can easily overlook elements in the environment. The game doesn't give you an actual weapon until nearly 3 hours into it when you find your first guns. No ability to use melee? C'mon. The AI is annoying, the cutscenes are unskippable, the insanity factor comes into play way too easily and makes things blurry (things are hard enough to see in this game as it is), and the stealth doesn't really work at all. This is just a complete waste of time and utter disappointment. I tried very hard to enjoy this game but it just doesn't have what it takes to be called a good game. Other horror games over the years ranging from Silent Hill to Resident Evil Remake to Eternal Darkness to Dead Space 2 are all vastly superior in every way. Avoid this one, even if you are a Lovecraft fan like me.
