I didn't think they made games this bad anymore. It's like an old school film tie-in; just completely lacking in originality and any semblance of polish. If, like me, you played Attack on Titan and thought this might be a similar fun lark: THINK AGAIN. Extinction is clearly a blatant rip-off of AoT but is devoid of the fun gameplay that had. Traversal is BAD, attacking is joyless button mashing, there's no story to speak of (the characters talk about things like being a "Sentinel" but there isn't actually any lore or even cursory cut-scenes to give the characters some depth. Just astonishingly, inexcusably bad. If you pay more than $/€5.00 you're making a mistake.

Very good game, enjoyable but repetitive gameplay, likeable characters, ok story. It's not a patch on the first two Infamous games but adds enough new stuff to keep you interested. Bizarrely the default power they chose to gve to Delsin is the most boring one in the game and I kept wanting them to give more powers to try out. The relationship between Deslin and his brother was fun and could've been explored a bit more for humour at least.

Solid 7.5/10. Great graphics, great voice-acting, solid gameplay mechanics, good story. If you imagine an Uncharted game with the climbing & puzzling removed you have a good idea of what the style of this game is. It's a "cinematic experience" with some good shooting (one of the most original guns I've seen in a LONG time) and a bunch of QTEs. I'm perfectly happy with the length of the game, it's ideal if you've got a busy liftestyle and only get to game for a few hours on the weekend. So if that's the kind of game you want this is worth the full price. However, if you're looking for something epic with branching storylines and skill trees etc look elsewhere.

Star Command (2012) (2012)9
Oct 26, 2013
Fantastic game! Star Command is an absolute gem. It runs flawlessly on my iPad 2, it has ZERO microtransactions (thank lovely 8-Bit style graphics, and a lot of fun. If you've played FTL then you'll already have KIND OF an idea of what the game is like, however, it has less ship component management and more crew management. Its still a very different game to FTL but if you loved FTL (like I did) but wanted some more crew mgmt and more of a Star Trek vibe then give this a shot. Its a bargain at twice its current price!

Lovely looking game with a unique & enjoyable game mechanic (the swapping). In general, this is an excellent game which I highly recommend. However, it does have a downside in that there is a fair amount of backtracking involved at times with little to no motivation besides completing the game. This won't be a problem for others but I find the lack of any special reward for backtracking (e.g. to get an upgrade of some sort or unlock some new mechanic) makes retreading areas very dull and occasionally frustrating.

Dear Esther4
Oct 24, 2013
Mind numbingly dull; I forced myself to complete it despite how bored I was throughout because I was expecting some revelation to make the game worthy of all the praise thats been heaped upon it (and to get my moneys worth). As others have said Dear Esther isn't a game, its a SLIGHTLY interactive story (interactive in that you walk around and look at things, thats pretty much it). That'd be fine if the story was any good but its not; its a boring and very, VERY predictable. 2 points for trying something different (in spite of failing) and 2 points for the occasionally lovely environments.

Love the setting, love the look, love the gameplay. My only complaints are that its a little short and a little buggy. Neither of which should put you off snapping it up. Its well worth your time & money. Plus with the Berlin expansion and community created content I reckon there's a lot of mileage left.

State of Decay9

Great game. I'd go so far as to say best zombie game out there. If The Walking Dead franchise is going to have a game they need to take a leaf out of State of Decay's book. Make that TONS of leaves. Bug-wise, I've only experienced a few very minor ones after hours of play; collision detection is a little wonky sometimes and companions have a nasty habit of blocking doors (and they don't often move when pushed). Aside for those it's been pretty flawless so far and not a single game breaking bug experienced by me. I HIGHLY recommend this game for any zombie/Walking Dead fan.

FTL: Faster Than Light9
Jan 22, 2013
This is a truly excellent game with lovely artwork and an easy pick up & play style. However, it is EXTREMELY difficult. I've been playing it non-stop for weeks since I bought and still haven't beaten it on easy. The randomisation of loot/encounters is done very well so the game never feels unfair but it's still bloody difficult.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings9
Jan 22, 2013
Phenomenal game with a wonderful story and top-notch voice acting. I can't recommend it enough....with one warning - it has some absurdly awkward & unnecessary CG nudity & sex. Thats the only reason I've deducted a point and if the game had been released without the ridiculous CG boob-jiggling doggy -style action it'd be an easy 10 out of 10.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown10
Oct 26, 2012
No, its not as in-depth as the original. No, its not as tense. No, its not as big. Yes, it is one of the best games (in my opinion THE best) of 2012. If you approach this game as a spiritual successor or re-imagining of the original then you will be pleasantly surprise; Just don't go into it expecting the UFO/XCOM of the 90s with updated graphics. Its tense, enthralling, intelligent, in-depth and the turn-based combat will have you chewing your fingernails out with anxiety. I'm not normally a fan of strategy games but XCOM gets the mixture of action, management, and strategy just right so as to make the game approachable for simpletons like myself. GET IT. ITS EFFING FANTASTIC.

Deadly Premonition1
Aug 21, 2012
A truly atrocious game. It's an ugly, buggy, clunky, inscrutable mess. The only explanation I can think of for all the praise it gets is that the hideous graphics, jerky animations, and mind-bogglingly clumsy controls 'cause some people to have a stroke and think that they must actually be enjoying the game. That or it's some sort of emotional defense mechanism to help justify the complete waste of time that any play of this game is.

Risen 2: Dark Waters9
Aug 20, 2012
Risen 2 is pretty much what you should expect if you played Risen; buggy, unpolished, a little ugly at times but heaps and heaps of fun. The sword combat starts out a little clumsy and basic but as you progress it becomes much more enjoyable. Also, you get to use Muskets.....MUSKETS!! They even have a lovely puff of smoke when you fire them! The main CONS of this game are it's buggy, ugly, somewhat "cheap" nature but those CONS are far outweighed by the PROS such great funny dialogue, imaginative missions/quests, slow character progression (that may seem like a bad thing but it actually makes leveling feel much more rewarding), a lovely lockpicking mini-puzzle, and it's just downright FUN. If you can look past some moderate flaws (below average graphics, buggy animations, occasional severe frame rate drops) and see the gem beneath you will really enjoy this game. If you like your RPGs polished and triple-A - steer well clear of this one. I've listed several pretty big flaws in the above but I'm still giving the game 9/10...THAT SHOULD TELL YOU HOW MUCH FUN IT IS!!

Earth Defense Force 20170
Jul 24, 2012
One of the worse games I've ever played. I downloaded this on XBL because I'd heard favourable things about it but I must be missing something because the graphics are awful, the gameplay is dull & repetitive, and there's not really any story to speak of. Pros - It's pretty cheap to buy at this stage Cons - Bad graphics - Bad controls (bad gameplay mechanics in general really) - No story - Very repetitive

Braid10

One of the most unusual, enjoyable, original games I've ever played. Wonderful. I would have liked it to be longer but whats there is flawless. Can be quite challenging at times but as the in game hints say - avoid looking up cheats/walkthroughs as it's so much more fulfilling when you have that "AHA!" moment.

Mass Effect 36
Apr 26, 2012
LOVE the game! HATE the ending! There has to be more to it than what we're being told. The whole thing is so completely out of place in the context of the previous games that it has to be some sort of clever ploy by Bioware so they can spring some DLC with the real ending. If this is the actual ending then it's an absolute disgrace and a complete slap in the face for fans. If & when they fix the ending I'll adjust my score.

I Am Alive3

Great game with real atmosphere & enjoyable mechanics....until the appalling ending that is. An ending so lazy, unimaginative, and ill-conceived that it completely ruins an otherwise enjoyable game and any goodwill I may have had towards it. I basically forked out 1800 points (very **** expensive!) for a game with no ending just a five second cut-scene with some ham-fisted "did he or didn't he" hinting and a big fat BUY OUR NEXT GAME TO FIND OUT. I most certainly will not be buying your next game.

Mirror's Edge10
Jan 4, 2012
This is honestly one of my MUST HAVE 360 recommendations. It's not perfect but it's easily the most original game in recent memory. The parkour stuff is a lot of fun but even better is the setting. Despite your exposure to the world of Mirror's Edge being quite limited the design is so unique with a feel completely it's own that, if you're anything like me, it will stay with you LONG after. It's a disgrace that a title this original isn't getting a sequel when Call Of Duty and HALO are churning out the same tired games repackaged each year.

Medal of Honor9

**SINGLE PLAYER ONLY REVIEW** I don't do multiplayer so I can't really comment on that but it terms of single player campaigns this game is scandalously underrated. It is far, far better than COD: Black Ops. The sniping levels are superb and there are several moments of genuine awe when you see the odds stacked against you but get to take your last stand against hordes of enemies rushing downhill towards you. It's one glaring flaw is the ill-advised helicopter sections. These were obviously added to compete with CODs top-down helicopter levels and fail miserably. Thankfully they're few and far between. Haters can keep COD: Black Ops. Me? I'm gonna go give MOH another whirl.

This game gets a much harder time than it deserves. Sure, it's not perfect and it's not pushing any boundaries or innovating new gameplay mechanics but it is DAMN FUN. I enjoyed playing this game more than a lot of the glossy triple-A games that have been released. Bottom line: If you're looking for a fun game where you get to fly around like The Rocketeer and shoot at bad guys then give this a try. If, on the other hand, you only like polished, big budget games then this one isn't for you.
