Pretty good game. Overall you will like it if you enjoy Bethesda games. A lot of complaints I feel the opposite of others on. There are weird facial animation moments, but generally speaking they're good. The voice acting I actually think is a strong suit for the game. The biggest improvement is combat which feels very fluid and smooth. The guns are fun to use with interesting modification options. Story-wise the game is good and the companions are a much appreciated improvement over Bethesda's previous companions, although after playing Baldur's Gate 3 for 150 hours in August, I feel there's still a lot to be desired here. The actual space combat, spaceships, and spaceship designer are really cool. However, they tie directly to the biggest issue with this game that quite simply can't be fixed. The biggest reason this game isn't actually great is because of the switch from an open world to what can only be described as a fast travel simulator. The procedurally generated, hand-crafted content hybrid system works great for what it is. But I feel like this system should have been supplementary, not the core focus of the game. If there were a few planets with huge zones that were as big as Skyrim with their own sets of lore and, more importantly, much better content density, then this procedural tile system would feel like a massive improvement over traditional Bethesda filler quests from previous titles, i.e. respawning bandit bounties from a Hold in Skyrim. But that's not the purpose it serves, it's supposed to totally replace the hand-crafted, content-rich, open world aspect of Bethesda games and it simply falls way short. The engine feels great, the graphics are good, the voice acting and writing is good, I have little to complain about with the game, but the direction away from an open world in favor of this tile generation system was simply a bad one, despite that system functioning well. It's just not a good design direction. This game will likely be made great by mods, but as it stands, it's just pretty good. If you're a Bethesda fan, pick it up now. If not, buy it on sale, it's worth like $40.

I'll come back and change this as needed but after 10 hours the game feels unnecessarily difficult in ways that are anti-fun and also not actually challenging once you figure out the gimmick. I don't mind a challenge, I enjoy FromSoft's other games. But I don't find the difficulty in this game engaging or fun. I get what they were going for with making encounters where certain ACs (mechs) are better or worse for different situations. But all it really boils down to is basically "throw yourself at this boss with the mech you like until you realize it literally doesn't work, leave the mission, buy the parts you need, make a new AC that completely counters the boss, re-clear the entire mission, kill it in 1-3 attempts, okay now back to the AC you actually want to play and never touch the other one again, oops make a different one again because this boss requires this build". The bosses are so incredibly punishing for specific playstyles that I find myself having to change entire mechs frequently just to complete the encounter at a reasonable pace. And when I switch, I completely dominate the boss with the new AC design, and then never touch it again because I'm not interested in it. It feels almost like a gimmick with how much bosses either counter your AC or get completely countered by your AC. There's no real difficulty except if you want to bang your head against the monitor trying to beat an encounter with an incompatible AC and I find that to be a major shortcoming. Which is a shame as I think the gameplay generally feels fantastic, but the encounters are overbearing and unnecessarily punishing for specific ACs and then weak and pushovers to others. I feel I am matching puzzle pieces in this game, not overcoming the bosses by learning the patterns and mechanics.

Generally a decent game. Users pointing out a lack of innovation I would generally agree are correct. It's tough to say this game is a 10 when nothing really feels very new from a gameplay stance. Honestly, one could say we actually lost a lot of skill variety for most classes. The initial gameplay feel is still very solid, however. So if nothing is new, why a 6? Because despite the lack of innovation, the gameplay does still feel really good (Blizzard specialty) throughout the campaign and the single player experience is quite good. It carries the game, really. The story, the characters, the voice acting, the soundtrack, the world itself, all of these were very well done. I really want to highlight the voice acting though. There is dialogue EVERYWHERE in the game, from main quest to side quest to hundreds of little dialogue blurbs that add to the story and each and every time the voice acting is spectacular. People rating this game a 0 because they're mad about whatever in this game are doing the folks who delivered the single player aspect of the game a great disservice. If you want to play a good campaign in a rich, immersive world, this game is worth it on sale. But as an ARPG, it does fall short, as the 'end game' is shallow beyond belief and also likely to never get better. Don't expect that from this game.

Exceptionally overrated game. Gameplay felt clunky and was too easy. Open world was very pretty but quite boring and unimaginative. Story is extremely generic. Don't recommend it, it's boring and overrated.

Game is pretty good. I'm giving it a 10 to counteract the trolls and the people who were over-the-top hyped and set absurd expectations for a game (at launch; what these people envisioned is still entirely possible for the game). But it's more like an 8. Before I get into the pros and cons, I want everyone reading this to know: A huge portion of these super negative reviews are absurdly exaggerated lies or console players who received a broken product. Please don't buy into that garbage. My review is for PC players, and PC players only; hence the PC tag on this particular review thread. The graphics are not "2002 level" and the game's glitches are not so bad that the game is unplayable; many of these people will defend Skyrim to the death without knowing the game was buggier at launch than Cyberpunk. PROS: -Incredible stories. Everywhere. Seriously, the stories are incredibly good and make the world feel very alive and real. -Combat. This was my biggest concern coming in and my biggest surprise. It starts slow but once you start acquiring perks there are a lot of super cool things you can do and a lot of different gameplay paths. I used a controller on my PC and the controls felt amazing. I don't do KBM for single player RPGs so I can't comment here but I hear it's bad. -The world*. We'll talk about the asterisk later. In a way, the world is amazing. The city is big and beautiful, and the way the aforementioned incredible stories play out in this beautiful world is perfect and seamless (barring no bugs). It's incredibly detailed and the random "map events" that spawn within it are in places that seem very organic and lived in. At surface level, and maybe even a little deeper than that, it's by far the best open world I've had the pleasure of playing in. There are three big pros. Each of the above, in my opinion, is 11/10 and adheres to the vision CDPR advertised for the game and delivered on (except combat, which was a surprise). But yes, there are only three. CONS: -Bugs. There's a lot. Very few are game breaking and a hotfix has fixed some but... many are visual and can break immersion. I found there weren't nearly enough to turn me off, but to each their own here. However, as an avid RPG fan, buggy open worlds are par for the course, honestly. -The world*. Yep, there's the asterisk. The world is not only full of things to do while complimenting and merging with the game's incredible stories, but it's also completely devoid of soul! Yep, that's right, there's **** to do in it! Cops spawn in where you're naughty and there isn't a jail/bounty system or anything like that. You can kill 400 cops, get away, and never hear about it again. While it's true the world is beautiful, there's nothing to do in it once the stories dry up. You still get the basic random events but that's it. No bars to drink in, no nightclubs, no "brain dances" (which are in the game, but not usable...?) and that leads to the next con... -Where's the RPG? They delivered RPG in spades with the conversation but customization is severely lacking. The character creator is kind of weak and not a lot of the options for hair and what not are enticing. Some are just flat out limited. There are NO sliders, and CDPR neither confirmed or denied these questions, effectively leading players to believe there could be sliders where there is not any. There's no transmog system, my character wears whatever his best gear is, so I'm a leveling MMO player unless I play sub-optimally (which is very possible to be honest). But still, there's nothing to do in the world after you burn out of stories that makes the world feel alive. Where are all of Night City's activities????? RPG options in general are just limited (for example, there is ONE straight male romance option. It's a very good story with an amazing female character, but she's it!). Lack of options = lack of world. -Loot and upgrading. The world difficulty does not scale, but typically the loot you receive does. It will drop items that are good for your level, so if you want to keep using stuff you picked up and like and want to be optimal, you just can't, because upgrading is so expensive. Sure, upgrading greens/blues is very possible, but if you get a super cool legendary and want to bring it along with you... upgrading it is next to impossible. So you're struggling to keep a look and gear you like because of lack of RPG transmog elements and also lack of materials from the game. Overall, the "core" is there for the vision they set out to deliver. And that core is very, very strong. But it's not enough to deliver what they promised, and the game is clearly lacking in certain specific areas. Some people are overly upset because they were not delivered God's gift to the gaming world, but it can be in a few DLCs. Or with a ton of support if CDPR pours their heart into it like they did with the Witcher 3.
