Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn8
Aug 3, 2024
Honestly, it’s a solid game for the money. Good combat, decent exploration and progression. No stamina or magic to manage, but it still had some challenge here and there. I was impressed with the verticality of the world for sure. I enjoyed it. I would say it’s better than quite a few souls likes but not the absolute best. And I dont believe race or gender was mentioned a single time. And your character gets covered with armor pretty much right away just like in most of these games. I just don’t understand the bad reviews.

This is probably the best game of 2023 so far. The most fun I have had anyway. I don’t understand the critic reviews saying it’s hard. It’s really not. I died a few times at first jumping off ledges and then once or twice to each main boss. That’s really it. It’s not like dark souls in a lot of ways. The enemies don’t respawn when you fill your health. They may come back eventually sometimes, but it was so minor I didn’t keep track. The combat is not soulslike imo. I guess it is melee combat, but I almost never used the weapons. There are a ton of choices for your fists, and they are the most fun. The upgrade system is a little weird and if you want to rush and not search for every item then I guess you could fall behind the curve. Anyway, the world is awesome, the characters are awesome and the combat is pretty darn good. The main point is that I had fun. It wasn’t realistic, it wasn’t polished perfectly, it was weird and fun. I would recommend it to everyone that wants to enjoy their time playing a video game.
