This game just feels right. It's so hard to put your finger on and explain why a metroid like game can feel off, stale or on point but this game does it. I think it comes down to the feeling of balance in difficulty, where it's not easy to get to the next save point... but it's not so hard that you hardly care anymore. This game hits the sweet spot in between and this makes exploration actually feel fulfilling. Keeps you on your toes. Also, the gradual progression feels just right, giving you just enough to keep you going to get stronger. An excellent fusion of metroid progression and Dark souls style of getting just a little stronger. This way you have new abilities leaking in while also getting a little stronger in every other way. It's really very finely tuned and I feel like the other reviews might not appreciate it the same as I do. I've seen so many of this type of game get better reviews that just don't have "it" like this one does. It's really anachievement. Hat's off to the developer. I heard they worked for 10 years mostly on their own on this and it shows in the best way possible. It doesn't get much better than this unless you're name rhymes with wallow fight.

Sick af AF. The amazing enemy sprite work makes blowing everything apart 3x more satisfying. You CAN turn them into 3d models, but only someone who really hates themselves would do that... Makes me wish Quake had the same option. Seriously, I'm on level 22 now and there hasn't been a single level that I didn't rate as "good". (You can rate every level as good or bad after you win). It pulls off what it's trying to do flawlessly. I f***ING love this game. Ultra juicy. Would bang.

It pulls off what it's trying to do flawlessly. I f***ING love this game. Ultra juicy. Would bang. P.S. I'm glad I didn't listen to the 0 dude... It runs almost flawlessly in handheld mode. There was ONE level where the audio crackled . Most of the time the game runs buttery smooth, that one level is a small price to pay for being lucky enough to play this on the switch whatsoever. I haven't tested but I imagine since it was just that one level, that there probably isn't any hitches in docked mode. Seriously it was one time at the latter half of one level. Not even close to a deal breaker and especially not worth a 0. If it bothers you, this game might be an 8 for you, not nothing. Some people really need to be a little more grateful for what they are given. The world doesn't owe you a flawless 4k 60fps constant fps port on a Switch for C***st sake. Take it from me, it's smooth enough that I can get through levels without dying on an extremely twitch shooter. Also, I want to say that leaving the graphics options on default gives best handheld performance for some reason. I don't have a fps counter, but I want to say that this game often reaches 60fps and can fluctuate down to 30 at the lowest. Possibly 25 on that one level wit tha crackles.

This game is old-school Castlevania 2, but perfected.
So so good. Perfect pacing, just enough length and has replayability to see different endings. It just feels right in every way. Yeah, I feel pretty strongly about this game. Even the difficulty is just right. The bosses could be slightly harder but it's so tricky getting to them that I think I'm glad.
I'm sorry to hear the innocent guy had too tough of a time to give it a real score. I would convict.

It's pretty cool. Glad I gave it another chance. I had to do the whole space ship section at the beginning over, because I left and came back to the game in the middle of it and so I got lost. Better to do it in one go so you remember what you are doing. Presentation is the best part of the game and makes you want to continue on. I don't know what people are taking about the unresponsive controls. The controls do exactly what you press. It's stiff tho, on purpose. Game is going for a Flashback vibe but thank God they didn't emulate the controls exactly.

This game is a masterfully crafted gaming experience. I guess everyone just likes mindless wandering time waster micro transaction games now. This game is a spiritual successor to something that already exists and STILL 2x as creative and innovative as 90% of games. Makes me sick how bandwagon people are being. Probably because they didn't figure out the mechanics and need a game to hold their hand and reassure them that they're a champ. This game makes you feel a certain kind of way and it's incredible at it. Don't sleep on this one just because journalists ran a coordinated smear campaign. They did so they could shill for the big 3 and further degenerate gaming into nothing but factory filth. Guess they have to make sure real games don't get made anymore. The biggest complaint I keep hearing is that you lock on to the enemy that's attacking you, so it doesn't work for multiple enemies or... something. I gotta tell you that this game gives you all the tools you need. If a second character gets too close, you will still dodge it because it instantly locks to the enemy attacking. What you need to do is use the telekinesis glove to throw extra enemies out of the way if you get overwhelmed. SIMPLE AS THAT. Just pay attention to the environment and use everything you can to dominate enemies, that's what hazards and explosion tanks are there for. Just use them. Figuring out how to not get overwhelmed and managing enemies is THE WHOLE POINT, while being as ruthless and efficient as possible. This game is basically perfect at everything it attempts. I can't believe all this bad press it's getting from people who PLAY VIDEO GAMES FOR A LIVING, so you would think they wouldn't ****. Another thing is "it's just linear OMG I can't endlessly explore idiot areas aimlessly wahhh" Go play Ubisoft you morons. Get some micro trans checklists you're such a glutton for. Because that's exactly what you'll get when you only give excellent scores to cookie cutter games. You get what you deserve you fools. This game is a series of expertly crafted and paced GAUNTLETS, it always is throwing a new challenge at you each and every time and highlights the actual depth and game design prowess on clear display. Oh and too many vents... Well would you prefer broke asses with old systems and hardware couldn't play it? You need that to hide loading screens, besides this is how the previous games were and part of the DNA. They paced it out extremely well and I'd argue you wouldn't get near the same "Dead Space feeling" without them. It's all about vibe. What's funny is that this is a cross platform game and STILL has the best graphics I've ever seen in a game. Try and tell me it doesn't look like a literal movie from start to finish! I guess quality experiences aren't everyone's bag.

This game is really cool and very unique. But not unique in the "this isn't fun" way, it's a very straightforward and fun game. You have cards and you push one of the face buttons to use each card. Every card has a type and an element. one of the types is a straight forward attack and the other ones are summons or single use magic. It's really refreshing to play a fun game like this that I missed when the console was current. I wish I'd played it back when I was 13, I would have loved it even more because it was new.

I feel like they only put enough effort into the game to be able to ship it. Very minimal effort. Which is sad because they have a very good foundation for a game I could have loved. This rating is for it's potential, what I know it could have been if they tried a little harder, or maybe just believed in themselves more. Real score is probably 5. If they came back with a sequel it an update that expand the game and makes hitting things actually feel good... I'd suggest it to people and buy it again. Take a few pointers from warlock project and it could be just as fun if not more compelling to keep coming back to.I love the way the inventory works in this game.

Could have been something really special. There's a decent game here, but it's missing any elements it could have had to make it great. The sword is a joke and there isn't quite enough depth to keep you interested long. Could have been special but instead it's just neat. If only they worked on it longer instead of just barely long enough for it to be enough to call it a game.

Cool game but it needs more impactful combat and dodging to be more reasonable. I'm glad it exists but it's not quite up to its potential. It really could be something special, they were on the right track. I'd like to see them expand it a bit and nail down the mechanics and make the rooms just a little more spacious for dodging. Extend the rang of swords.

This game had NO BUGS AT ALL. But all these snide mother****ers in here saying bugs. The game looks great, very crisp and well arranged visuals... not ps3....
What I'm getting at is I've never seen so many skewed and dishonest reviews in my life. People put their heart and soul into crafting this game for people who don't understand it or probably even own a ps5 to come in and give it 0/10 scores. There really should be a special place in hell reserved for people who give a decent game anything less than a 5. I even saw a 0 review that literally said 5/10 at the end.
I wish this game was a heavy and hardcore advancement of Prey but with tons of dishonored style powers and guns. I'm dissapointed it's not exactly the kind of game I would have wanted from Arkane's last game I'll likely get on my Playstation... but I'm still glad a game like this exists. It's definitely not a 10 from me for those reasons because I had high self made expectations for it, but it's still above 90% of ALL AAA games in pure soul power and creativity. I'm giving it a 6. This is a TIME LOOP GAME with NO TIME MECHANICS. What a waste of opportunity. One man leaves a company and the rest of the people at the company totally **** it up. I know that sounds harsh but I played Prey Mooncrash right before this. I had perfectly reasonable expectations for this game coming RIGHT AFTER that game and somehow they eliminated everything about an Arkane game with time loop mechanics that you would expect to see. I thought this game was going to be something really special. But there's no timing involved with anything you do and the enemies are all the same. With better stealth options and 8 levels instead of 4 it would have been a 9. Being the game I expected, Prey Mooncrash mixed with Dishonored... like it SHOULD HAVE BEEN. AN easy masterpiece **** that they SHOULD HAVE been capable of. All the past work to draw on was there! I really hope they support this with some rad DLC before they are totally Xbox's **** eternally. Not because I don't like Xbox, but because I don't have one. I think there's a lot of potential expanding on this game a bit but I'm worried that won't really happen. Game could use an optional state save feature and an optional time limit feature/ extra levels. If they didn't get bought by Microsoft and needed to shift gears to get a new game in the oven for them, I'm sure this game could have lived up to my expectations. Still a worthy game for my collection, really glad I have it. It runs FLAWLESSLY at least on PS5, day ONE. And since it really was basically a PS5 exclusive, they really delievered in a way that no other company can right now. So at least there's that.
I can't really speak for a PC but I have a feeling that PC people pay 3000 dollars for their machines so they will **** no matter what **** doesn't release with 120fps and 4k day one... so I don't know if I can even take them seriously. Especially after I just saw a THIRD of the reviews giving 0-3 scores with no good reason. Pretending that it has bad graphics, acting like it is buggy to hell. You gotta have a good reason to give almost any game a score lower than a 5 and those were pathetically fake reasons for the scores.
It must be that this game got scaled back when purchased by Microsoft... It really does speak a lot to the talent at arcane that a watered down version of anything else they've been making can be so critically acclaimed.
