Prodeus is a classic Doom clone through and through, but that isn't a knock at all. It nails the core mechanics well from the level design to pacing. While the enemies feel like reskinned versions of what you're familiar with, the gameplay loop works thanks to some solid shooting mechanics. Even though it lacks real innovation in the space and the multiplayer is practically dead, the inclusion of a map maker along with a plethora of custom maps almost negates those issues. Overall, shooting fans will like this one, and curious players can use as an entry point into the re-merging boomer shooter genre.
Prodeus is the reincarnation of classic FPS games from the '90s. There isn't much of a story here, but let's be honest, if you are playing this game, it's for the blood and mayhem!
Prodeus is an excellent title that can provide you with several hours of adrenaline injection and fun. Solid level design, gratifying gunplay, and beautiful aesthetics, comprise this well-made FPS, one of the best in recent memory for sure.

Satisfying gameplay with great sound effects of weapons. The soundtrack is amazing, which changes to fit the frenetic action shooter it is.

Очень крутой и бодрый шутер, от которого вообще не хочется спать. Сложно остановится и единственный минус для меня, это не достаточно запоминающийся OST

Intelligent design and fierce intensity combine to make Prodeus the finest single-player shooter of the year so far. It loses marks for a confusing economy and overworld, but it’s still worth whispering in the same reverent voice you save for the classics.

In some respects Prodeus pretty much seems to be a clone of the very first Doom, but it imitates the legend ridiculously well, because the guys from Bounding Box Software perfectly understand the pillars of id Software’s success. Their game is fast and satisfying, old school and modern at the same time, sounds great and looks even better.

Prodeus’ ultraviolent combat is fantastic if that’s what you’re in the mood for. But even the most delicious meal can sour in the stomach if there’s simply too much. In short bursts, Prodeus not just stands on the shoulders of giants, it dwarfs them. Over hours, though, the incessant action and jackhammer sound design start to feel a little restrictive and repetitive. Prodeus is a near-perfect homage to late 90s shooters, but you don’t need to be a demon spawn of Doom to enjoy it.

Prodeus is stupidly fun, looks incredible, sounds fantastic, and is launching into a subscription service many people reading this may have. It’s been a bit of a weird marketing cycle leading up to the launch of the game, but I hope as many people as possible at least try it out. It’s one hell of a love letter to the FPS genre for both the old and the new.

Neat retro shooter with good game flow and sound design, yet turns out to be a little too easy and concludes a little too abruptly.

Prodeus is a noble tribute to the original Doom with plenty of action, excellent stylized visuals, and great level design. However, the brief campaign grows repetitive as the mechanics don't evolve beyond the basics, and multiplayer is unfortunately empty.

Prodeus is an old school classic FPS which takes inspiration from both the Doom and Quake series. It is a pretty good game and a satisfying shooter though is not perfect by a long shot in my opinion. What is best about it is the shooting and the sound design especially when it comes to gunfire sound effects. The level design through a decent amount of missions it provides is almost superb at its best to almost quite **** at its worst. The guns are pretty amazing overall and they are extremely fun to use with some being even better than others. Visually is alright even with the retro thingy that is going for but still I wouldn't exactly say it's anything spectacular. what keeps it down for the most part in my eyes it's a lack of viriety in general whether it's the enemies, the environments, the textures etc. there is not much of any of that really. What annoyed me personally is the respawn system after death which is something similar to bioshock, I could explain why but I will just say that it just doesn't work for me. And the final thing which is not exactly a problem but maybe is worth mentioning is that the game is pretty short, it can get 10 hours give or take to do most things in the game.

Short review: I have three main issues. I noticed after 10 hours of playing that I had never died from an enemy, the difficulty is in finding the ores and the exploration/platforming more than the enemies themselves unlike in Doom where both are difficult. Secondly, I find that finding these ores is incredibly difficult, to the point where I often need to look online for their locations. Even getting the map doesn't help much, as it lacks clarity and is convoluted. The issue is that the store is an integral part of the game, and not getting ores holds you back gameplay-wise. Finally its a little bit repetitive, but I guess this is an inherent/vestigial trait of this sort of old school FPS-style game. Nevertheless, the game is still fun, and the sound design, style, and sfx are great and helps set Prodeus apart from the rest. Shooting feels great too. Finally I like the amount of content there is, and the community maps is a great feature that adds a creative aspect and more replay-ability. It's a simple, fun game to briefly play daily. 76/100.

Awesome retro shooter. Sure - the game is strongly inspired by Doom. You can switch between 2D and 3D enemy sprites. There are also always new weapons and enemies added. Maps are also cool made. The controls are also very good. Difficulty can always be adjusted, if you die you always start close (no replay needed). Towards the end the game gets pretty intense - real carnage. The menu is a bit cumbersome. Conclusion: game does many things well, but nothing innovative. One playthrough takes about 6-7h.
