The actual gameplay is fun, it really takes me back to the budokai of my childhood. Its not too complex, a lot of characters are functionally identical, but the sheer depth of choice makes it awesome as a dragon ball fan. I'm really rating it low because I cannot for the life of me figure out why they won't let you play through the story in chronological order. You have to play along different character paths and what-ifs that make the story delivery chaotic and completely unintelligible. if you were hoping to play through every fight in the series like the old games, skip.

When I first played this game on release I would have rater it a 4 or 5. Having played through it and the DLC, I really loved this game. The world theyve built feels so rich and engaging, really helpied by stellar quest writing. Johnny silverhand in particular was someone I hated early on, but I found myself really attached to him by the end after we had grown together. The gameplay is fun and it rarely got boring running around with gorilla arms. The soudtrack is positively insane. I still have complaints: the game is still buggy and stuff sometimes just doesn't load in, it handles sex in that awkward video game way, and the upgrade system had me run out of useful perks for my build roughly 20 levels before i maxed out. But this is an excellent RPG that, with the secret sun ending, really engaged me emotionally and intellectually. I'm glad I gave it another shot.

I enjoyed this game, but I think its a step down from its predecessor. The world is massive and beautiful, the art design just as inspired by the first game. I love the way weapons also serve as traversal mechanics, and I love how the world sprawls so you can tell there arre many pathways through. But a lot of the modernizations they made, like downward attacks or permanent movement upgrades, rob this game of the uniqueness it had in the first game. The first game felt like it asked you to make sacrificies to get stronger, which fit the world's themes, while this game felt like a good metroidvania like any other. But, a big issue: the map updates form the DLC are present in the game veen if you don't own the DLC, meaning you are going to run into obstacles that you will never unlock a way past. that's bad form

I played maybe a dozen hours of this game, and while fighting with your team was fun, it had a lot of holes. Some of the advancement systems like items and power-ups were not intuitive, and it demanded coordinaion with your team in a way that i didn't often find very satisfying. Had fun with it for a little while, but was pretty content leaving after too long

I really want to give this game a 9, it's strengths are unbelievably strong. The nature of its language-decoding puzzles, its sense of exploration both of new moons and the ancient past, the rich art direction and voice acting, its really astounding. It's gotta the best space-archeologist game out there as far as actually feeling like you're peeling back layers of history to get to the truth of things. BUT the game's painfully slowwalking speed and sometimes-awkward camera controls really limit the down time in between language puzzles, to the point that it can be hard to stay interested as you do minor work. Will almost certainly play again.

This game is rich with potential that will unfortunately never be reached due to abandonement by the devs. The concept **** gardener is brilliant, and watching the beautiful portraits advance through the ages and develop both culture and technology in unique ways is a lot of fun. However, the moment to moment gameplay is simple and slowed down by an awkward control scheme, many of the choice results are strictly cosmetic (and textual at that), and the game is poorly balanced so certain end states are far too common. There's stuff here to enjoy in brief bursts, but ultimately potential alone is not enough to carry what's here

An awesome, simple roguelike with a killer power fantasy. While it can be slow to start, once you get some permanent upgrades and unlock some weapons, your character goes absolutely mad with power as you cut through hundreds of enemies at a time. Its pretty simple mechanically, but it has a surprising amount of depth to the maps and weapon combinations. Good fun that's easily worth its low price point.

It looks and feels so smooth, and while normal collectathon levels are relaxing and creative with some amazing concepts, the challenge levels are difficult enough to keep things interesting. The game has a surprising amount of mechanics so the gameplay feels fresh, and movement mechanics have a great flow to them. High quality platformer full of secrets! The mechanics are simple but they're widely applicable so a lot of hunting for the game's many secrets is a matter of puzzling out your own solution. The atmosphere and art of the game is amazing. That said, the map is absolutely godawful and some of the late game puzzles/secrets are absurdly obscure. The game overstays its welcome in a big way once you get into the super-lategame.

This game really caught me offguard, its an excellent metroidvania with fluid traversal, a huge map full of useful collectibles and challenges, and fun combat. It scales a little strangely: the platforming difficulty spike is huge while combat doesn't really grow from the early game, while the narrative is a bit unfocused and straight up forgets about a character, and bosses are (mostly) forgettable. But for 80% of the game it is addicting and fun. The real star is the platforming and the enormous map, coupled with a ton of great QOL changes.

It's a pretty good game that overstays its welcome. Combat and traversal feel amazing, I have a ton of fun just swinging around interrupting crimes. However, they never really evolve over the course of the game, fights play out nearly the same way 20 hours in as they do 5 hours in. Audio design is top notch, and visually the game is gorgeous aside from some uncanny valley. All of this is doing its best to carry one of the emptiest, most nonsensical stories I've ever played. And it was, but what surprised me was that the heart of the game was actually in the world and the gameplay. It offers a world that is genuinely fun to explore, and the rapid character swapping creates a really interesting and dynamic combat system that you are always adjusting. I played all the way to the end of the release content before i had my fill, and I haven't been back. I know a lot has been added and I won't speak to anything since, but if you're like me and expecting an empty gatcha money pit, know that there's actually a really solid game in here that is lovingly constructed.
