The gameplay is more comparable to Sonic than Wario Land as there is a huge emphasis on speed and momentum especially if you aim to 100% which requires getting every collectable and secret in each level while keeping a combo. Each level introduces new mechanics including transformations which are very reminiscent of Wario's transformations in Wario Land, there are also some difficult but fair bosses that are also similar to bosses in Wario Land. The art style is simple but charming and the soundtrack is extremely energetic. The level design is perfect for speedrunning and the move set has lots of depth which made replaying levels over and over again for 100% incredibly fun. All of this stuff may be overwhelming at first but mastering it made me feel like a speedrunner and gave me so much adrenaline, this is a game I could never get bored of.

Hollow Knight got me into metroidvanias, while the first 2-3 hours are a bit slow once the game kicks off its impossible to put down as the areas are so interesting and bosses are really fun to learn and satisfying to defeat. Not to mention the gorgeous art-style and the memorable soundtrack. What makes Hollow Knight most addictive is the move set which is equally as useful to combat as it is to platforming, this makes every second of the adventure engaging as every area can be seen as a mini platforming challenge. Overall, this game is bound to age perfectly and I will never forget exploring some of these areas for the first time.
