Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is another great entry in the Xeno-Series. Story, Characters and Gameplay are all just as great if not better than it's predecessors and Monolith Softs amazing understanding of the Switch hardware makes this game look really good while also remaining mostly stable. Some Framedrops here and there for sure, which just shows the age of the system. The sheer amount of customizability ist stagering, almsot too much so at the start and the battle mechanics and interface can be a tad cluttered for my liking.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series makes two of the best 2.5D Platformers available for a new audience again with improved visuals and a few gameplay adjustments. Graphics are not quite what I would expect from a 2022 remaster and some of the decisions in the sound department are questionable but these flaws pale in comparison to the emotional and well written storys and the gameplay that is only topped by a handful of other games in the genre.

Mario Party Superstars is a reminder of how great the Mario Party experience can really be. The stable online mode, the charming graphics and of course the friendship-destroying gameplay of days gone by shows that there is still potential in the series. Mainly the small number of boards and characters gives hope for future support. With a little more variety, Mario Party Superstars could establish itself as a de facto party game.

Demon Turf is a nice 3D platformer that can convince with really excellent controls, a fun moveset, good music and nice characters. Graphically, the Switch version leaves a lot to be desired, despite a distinctive Artsyle, and not all level themes are always hit. Passages with many opponents and combat interventions bring the gameplay to a complete standstill from time to time. Bosses are visually and musically nice but nothing special. All in all, Demon Turf is a nice indie title for fans of the 3D platforming genre with good ideas that should definitely be further developed in a successor and a few bad ideas that should be reconsidered.

So was it worth the long wait for the Metroid Dread? Bottom line: yes. Of course it's a shame that it took so long, but the end result is impressive. The game doesn't try anything really new, but it perfects the existing formula and staples of the genre. Solid graphics, buttery smooth 60fps, ingenious map design and tricky boss fights make Metroid Dread a highlight of the Switch library and a prime example of the genre that is named after it. Icannot recommend Metroid Dread enough for fans of atmospheric 2D action games.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens is a good entry in Wayforward's Metroidvania franchise. With nice graphics, a nice soundtrack and lovable characters, the title offers a nice entry point for those interested in the series and the genre. However, the gameplay does not differ enough from its predecessors to give the game its own identity and thus does not quite reach the heights of Shantae and the Pirates Curse from 2014. Likewise, the low difficulty could bore some players with repeated playthroughs. However, the customization options through magical items and monster cards can revise this point a little.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity offers hours of mindless gameplay. With a good plot, very good music and a graphic style that makes The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild look old, Age of Calamity can join the Zelda series without hesitation. Only the performance and the grinding for some side missions can reduce the fun of this title. If this doesn't bother you and found the demo version good, you will find a good 70 hours of fun here.

With Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, Nintendo and Monilith bring the Wii classic to the Switch. With revised graphics, new setting options and a brand new epilogue, the first part of the series can offer JRPG fans in particular a few hours of gaming fun. A slow start, some mechanics of the combat system and the rather outdated graphics can be safely ignored in view of everything else.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game - Complete Edition

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition is a chaotic but still fun beat'em'up. Items and pick-up objects make the game very frustrating in some cases, but can be bypassed if you pay attention. The sound and the graphics harmonize wonderfully and together create a very unique style, which one looks for in vain these days. Local multiplayer is almost a must for games of this kind and is happy to provide one or the other fun evening with the buddies. Only Ubisoft is holding back this game. The forced registration of a Ubisoft account as well as the holding back of the DLC and the online mode is really disgusting. And after all that, the online mode doesn't even work properly. We can really only hope for a patch that will be released this time.

Balan Wonderworld isn't a good game, at least on Switch. The extremely poor performance and graphics as well as some questionable gameplay decisions bury the hope **** game. Only the art style, the immense creativity and the really good soundtrack should give most players any kind of pleasure. Friends of the sixth generation of consoles should have a little fun despite these serious flaws. But stay away from 100% completion!

NEO: The World Ends with You is a rousing and stylish action-RPG that should definitely pick up fans of the genre and children of the 2000s. The gameplay and the plot are well thought out and last around 40 hours of playing time without losing any of their freshness. Only a few frame rate drops and the sometimes confusing battles hit the game in the points here.

Cris Tales is bursting with creativity and uniqueness. Graphically, the game is bombastic with hand-drawn sprites and animations. The setting is also well done and fits like a fist on the eye. The time travel mechanic blends in well with aspects of the game and offers fans of the genre a fresh take on classic aspects. Only the loading times and the somewhat predictable story hold back Cris Tales.

Around 27 years after the release of the original, the traces of the age are already visible. With some sometimes questionable level design, blunt plot and short playing time, unfortunately you can't win a flower pot these days. The graphic style, the remixed music and the general gameplay, on the other hand, are bursting with charm. You can really tell while playing that this project was close to the hearts of the developers. Unfortunately, they have tied a little too closely to the conventions of the original. One could have deviated a little from the formula from back then.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin does almost everything right in the aspects it focuses on. The gameplay in the Hack'n'Slash passages is buttery smooth, the farming simulator elements are detailed and deep and the soundtrack is divine. It almost seems as if the game was held back entirely by the hardware. Other versions of the game are likely to look better and have no audio issues with the soundtrack.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate

Sonic Colors definitely needs a remaster. What we got with Sonic Colors: Ultimate, however, is a stylistically questionable and much more buggy game than was seen on the Wii. The upgrade to HD and the cosmetic bells and whistles are good and the new soundtrack can also convince in many places. The gameplay of the original has remained largely unchanged, which still makes the game a fun experience, but the glitches and graphical errors, especially on Switch, make Sonic Colors: Ultimate more of a demaster in my opinion. Steer clear of the Switch version until many of the issues have been resolved.

I was surprised how much i liked this game. After a slow start and a few boring missions the story and combat really pick up quick and had me hooked to my TV for hours on end. The extremely complicated systems slowly started to make sense and everything fell into place. If you stopped playing this game, try to give it another chance. It gets really damn good!

Solid game with fun visuals, story and combat system. The game eases you into the combat and teaches players, who are new to the beat-em-up genre the essentials well. The combat starts out rather mundane but quickly evolves into a strategic brawler with new moves unlocked by leveling and learning them at the dojo. I'd definitely recommend you play this game with 2 players. If you're playing solo you should try hard mode as your standard option. The music is very nice and has bouncing tunes all over. The voices are rather hit or miss with some notable downs with characters voiced by "influencers" Movement feels a bit clunky as does the button layout and screen transition option but these are very minor details you learn to avoid after the first hour or so.

Sonic Forces

User ScoreGameCorp_Meyk

I have fully beaten the main game and the Shadow DLC. After beating the main game it occurred to me that Sonic Forces tries to implement all the ideas that people liked about the last few 3D and even 2D Sonic games but forgets to find its own identity. All ideas in Forces may be good on their own but together they form an unfocused and confusing mishmash of existing ideas. Boss ideas get recycled and you could swear that you've seen some set pieces before. Sonic Forces runs in the Hedgehog Engine 2 which is the followup of the engine used in Sonic Unleashed and the game looks pretty good because of that but something seems to be wrong with the physics... The momentum is super awkward and top speeds are very inconsistent throughout the game. Modern Sonic handles the best but even he is very flawed. Forward and left-right movement feels good but the moment you want to run diagonal the controls just stop to work. The Avatar has some serious acceleration issues and Classic Sonic is just so far removed from what he felt like in Mania and Generations that I couldn't adjust myself to these controls until the very end. Modern Sonics level design is very narrow and focused on the boost. There is only minimal platforming in these 3D sections which really bummed me out since Colors had some good 3D platforming parts. The story... well... it really doesn't even need to be there. "99% of the world has been taken over by Eggman" It makes no difference. Seriously! Characters are not explained. Why is Silver there? Why? I don't know. There's no reason for anything in this game. I only really enjoyed like 20% of the levels which in a game that took me 5h to beat is not much. The other 80% are either ok-meh or just plain not fun. The 3 Shadow level were really good though it kind of feels like a different game for the time that it lasts... which is like 20 minutes max. Overall Sonic forces is NOT BAD but it's nothing more than that. THE MUSIC THO OMG EARGASM
