Awful game from a dropped off developer. Boring progress quest 'gameplay' with horrifying RNG mechanics and a terrible DLC business model. DLCs don't even improve the games core issues but instead just layer on pointless overpriced mechanics. Avoid this and really all Paradox products. Let Victoria 3 die. Let Paradox die.

Star Trek Online is really only for fairly serious Trek fans. The type of fan that can overlook the game's many short comings, because underneath the grim is a title with a lot of content and some serious fun. Some notes: - Lack of development resources seems to lead to inconsistent polish and a patch work of quality. - Space combat is a ton of fun. - Ground combat is poor. So poor it will drive some away all by itself. - Poor new player experience. Poor tutorial. Expect to do a lot of self learning and internet research. - Some currency grinding (dilithium). - Quests range from fully voiced and interesting to dull and convoluted.
