I really enjoyed the first half of this series. It moves at a good pace, good acting, interesting story, a little twist here and there ... and then the second half happened. I feel sorry for the actors having to try and sell such idiotic twists and dialog. And I’m mad that the makers of this mess for insulting the viewers’ intelligence, thinking anyone would buy all of these “twists just to be a twist”. I would advise you not to invest in this one. The final episode is a bombastic train wreck of chopped up scenes and unbelievable turns ... topped with some of the worst dialog I’ve heard in years. Pity.

As a “Lost” devotee up until the final couple of seasons and especially the dismal finale, this series immediately conjured up what I loved about the early seasons. It’s like an onion that peels back slowly, layer by layer. Through current story telling and flashback you get to know each of these characters, what drives them, what they are hiding, and why they got there. Intermingled with this, you get small hints of what they don’t know about how they got there. I came into this series reluctantly because I had run out of things to binge and without much expectation. I was very pleasantly surprised! And THANK YOU Amazon for dropping all episodes instead of dragging them out week by week (hear that HBOMAX and AppleTV+??)

Why all the hate? This series threw in everything but the kitchen sink, but that’s what I liked about it. There was a new twist about every five minutes, making this the least predictable series I’ve watched in a long time. I appreciate that. Thought it was a fun watch.

It’s hard to pinpoint what’s the worst thing about this series. I feel sorry for the cast members for being given such an overblown story and incredibly bad dialog. The only good thing I can say is it’s a beautiful location with some nice eye candy.

There is such an uncomfortable feeling of immediacy in this tale of where we are all headed if we stay on our chosen path. It’s a mirror you can’t turn away from. But as we do in today’s 24/7 onslaught of world news and events, the characters seem to forget the previous news item to make room for the next. This is a horrifying and riveting series with top-notch acting, constructed in the way that only the British seem to be able to get right. For U.S. viewers who have experienced all the “inside looking out” cautionary tales in the Trumpian era, this series offers a chance to view ourselves through other countries’ eyes... and it ain’t pretty. You will no doubt be left with much to ponder for quite some time to come. Highly recommended.

The Keepers: Season 1

The Keepers underscores what I felt about "Spotlight" - documentaries on the Catholic Church sexual misconduct cover ups are far more interesting than a dramatic portrayal. It is in large part because you are hearing things straight from those involved. I always find them frightening and mesmerizing. And who doesn't love a good murder mystery? With The Keepers you get both. Yes, it is a bit long, but it allows you to really get to know everyone - both those directly involved as well as those directly affected - as they join forces to seek justice for all. Many things to admire in how this miniseries was crafted, most notably the editing.

I just watched both seasons of this series last night and this morning. I loved it. It has everything I like in a comedy series - good writing, good acting, good directing, a timeline that keeps you on your toes, and satisfying episode endings. It is so much more than the synopsis reveals. I wish there were more seasons to watch because I'm completely invested in these characters. Daniel Ings (Luke) - think Henry Cavill meets Hugh Grant - is a standout and steals most every scene he's in.
