Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

I wasn't expecting much because of mediocre games in the past and it turned out to be maybe the worst in the series so far. The game can be explained in three words: Dueling, Potions, Quidditch. And that's it. Sure, you can explore a very authentic Hogwarts (the most enjoyable thing about the game) but these three minigames is everything else. Dueling is in it the most but it isn't very enjoyable, as you will find yourself just flailing the WIi Remote around. Also, it is pretty much impossible to die. Potions is the most fun because you actually get to add ingredients and stuff! Quidditch is just flying through hoops (in the earlier levels I just put the Wii Remote on my lap and made it through almost every ring). The game does a very bad job of translating the story and the whole experience boils down to annoying. The game has absolutely no challenge and the only multiplayer option is to duel. Go watch the movie instead of playing.

Excitebike: World Rally
7
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 22, 2010
Excitebike: World Rally is better than the original, but it is a little boring nowadays. The game only gives a few generic courses to play and they are way too easy. The Wii Remote held on its side works the best to play this game. There is a really cool track created though that is simple and easy to use. One complaint is that for some reason, there is an online mode but no local multiplayer. By the way, the graphics are terrible and unacceptable but the music is okay, if a little repetitive. Excitebike: World Rally is a decent game and should be played by anyone who enjoyed the original.

Tetris Party

This a fairly good Tetris game, but definitely not the best in the series. The game Tetris itself is one of the best block puzzles ever. This game has the swap option, quick drop and the ability to rotate the piece for a while before dropping it. Although the main Tetris game is great the other modes are terrible such as the stupid stage racer. The multiplayer could have been ruined by items but, thank goodness, you can turn them off. The online mode works well but I as always crushed by other people. Also, the game gives you customizable chat options, but there only only about seven things you can choose to say. Tetris Party is a great Wii Ware game, but one of the worse in the Tetris series.

Punch-Out!!

User ScoreDucky418
Oct 22, 2010
Although there could be a few things improved about this game, it overall succeeds very much. Punch-Out is less about fighting and more about timing compared to other boxing games. The system works well, and the game is BY FAR the best played with the Wii Remote held on its side. The number of fighters is underwhelming, and there is only one new boss (plus an awesome secret one). The game looks great and is very funny. There is also a stupid multiplayer mode where both players are Little Mac and can turn into Giga Mac! Yeah, not very awesome. Punch-Out is a superb Wii game and a must-have to anyone who has enjoyed Punch-Out games in the past.

MySims

This is an interesting attempt at making a fun game, but it soon gets boring and repetitive. In MySims, you build houses, furniture, and everything else inside a house to build a town. At first the game works well with a creative design system and the overall cuteness of the game. However, as the game wears on, it turns into being assigned to this with these essences. The essences are quite easy and boring to obtain. When I was about three and a half out of five stars in the game, it got boring with twenty-five tasks to do and at least three new people every ten minutes or so. The graphics in the game are colorful but not very great and the music is terrible. The interactions with other Sims in this game are very disappointing and simple compared to The Sims and the game has way too long loading times. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun, but only for a little while.

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings
4
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 20, 2010
It's very disappointing that every attempt at a decent Indiana Jones game has failed, and this game is no different but even worse than previous attempts. This game looked so promising at first for the interesting gunplay mechanics and the idea that you could pretty much use everything as a weapon. None of the game works. The gunplay is actually generic, a failure, and is never a challenge. The combat system is hard because it barely works and is hard to control. There is even a multiplayer mode where Indiana Jones and hi father have to work together in a completely separate adventure which, too, isn't fun at all. The vehicles are hard to control and the game is so generic it is nearing the unplayable line. The game doesn't even have the Indiana Jones charm. The only thing fun about this game is that it includes the classic Indiana Jones Atlantis game that still stands out among other games (like this one). Its a shame, but be warned that game is generic, hard to control, and repetitive.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4
7
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 20, 2010
After the horrific Lego Indiana Jones 2, this game is clearly trying to set the Lego games back on track. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 goes more back to the series' roots. The game still has the amazing Lego charm and Harry Potter is an unsurprisingly nice fit for the series. The gameplay is where this game is at its worst. The entire game is filled with way too simple puzzles usually involving levitating one object to another place or putting something back together. The same basic puzzles are repeated over and over again. Most of thre game has no combat whatsoever. The memorable scenes from Harry Potter aren't very fun to play in this game and are quite disappointing, like the third task and the fact ther is no playable Quidditch or Hippogriff riding scenes. The boss battles aren't fun and too easy as well. Harry Potter does work well with the Lego formula, especially exploring Hogwarts, but most of the movies' memorable scenes just don't wrk in this game.

Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
7
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 20, 2010
Unfortunately, this game boils down to being much less fun compared to LEGO Star Wars. Sure, it has the same formula and look, but it simply isn't handled as well. Although the game does have the Indiana Jones feel, it just doesn't work for a game like this that is mostly about puzzles. The game is hard to play without two players, and is lacking much needed split-screen. A lot of the game forces you to NOT be Indiana Jones, which isn't fun if you have to be someone stupid like Satipo or Willie. The game does a good job with some of the movies' best moments, but some like the Boulder Chase and the Mine cart scene, are poorly handled. The vehicle segments are handled terribly as well. Though there are worse Indiana Jones games out there, people might want to avoid this game unless they are a big fan of the movies.

Games such as Wii Sports and WiI Fit are pretty fun, but this game ia simply a terrible racket. Although the idea of playing on all of the instruments is cool, the game simply doesn't work. Even if you bring up the stupid note chart, it will still sound awful. You can make your own CDs and videos, but there is no sharing them online. The only mode in Wii Music that is fun is the games, because the bell ringing actually has notes to play and sounds pretty good and the pitch quiz will stump you and have you laughing at the same time. Wii Music could have been fun, but its not. Drumming on cans or is more fun than playing this.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
6
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 20, 2010
Super Monkey Ball is actually worse with the Wii controls than with the regular controller. As always, you tilt the course around to try and get your monkey to the goal. In this game, they incorporate boss battles and have fifty minigames to play. The main game itself is still a lot of fun and the tilting works okay, if a little tricky. What drags it down is the terrible boss battles that have no right to exist in this kind of game and by far are the most frustrating part of the game, except for the minigames. Out of the fifty minigames included, maybe five of them are fun to play due to absolutely terrible controls and lack of sophistication. The new Monkey Ball can be fun at times, but due to some major annoyances brings the series way downhill.

Rabbids Go Home
7
User ScoreDucky418
Oct 19, 2010
At first Rabbids Go Home was a little deceiving. The collecting objects premise was interesting and it was a relief to finally see the Rabbids out of their minigame formula. However, as the game went on all of the levels seemed to repeat over and over again with only subtle differences. Sure, there are some funny jokes, but prepare to hear them quite a few times throughout the game. Although the gameplay works and its still pretty fun, Rabbids Go Home could have been a lot better than it was.

Wii Fit

Wii Fit is an interesting game in the sense that it is trying to get people to work out and have fun at the same time. The Balance Board can let you do Yoga and push-ups, oh boy! Wii Fit works very well and seems useful at first but it does not measure weight correctly. Also, the game criticizes you if it thinks you are overweight by making your Mii look fat. Except for being rude, the game turns out to be pretty good, particularly the Balance games, with a more emphasis on fun. It might not be worth a large price, but its a decent game for fun, but if you're looking for serious excercise, its better to exercise without a tv screen .

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

User ScoreDucky418
Oct 19, 2010
This gam isn't only great for its gameplay, but for the amount of content packed into one disc. There are so many characters, stages, items, modes, and collectibles that its surprising the game doesn't explode. Amazingly, there is only minimal wait time. Brawl is exactly like Melee in the gameplay, but there are tons of new characters, including Pit, Diddy Kong, Pokemon Trainer, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Lucas, Ike, and many more along with Sonic and Solid Snake to round it out. The game has all-new Assist trophies aka dozens more Nintendo cameos. A big difference are final smashes that are jaw-dropping crazy finishing moves and each character has their own one. The game has a story mode, but it is hard to get through the whole thing because its a repetitive sidescroller and the story itself doesn't make any sense. The game allows to adjust song selections, create stages, upgrade characters with stickers, play an interesting arcade game for trophies, play short demos for classic Nintendo games, and gamble on online matches in addition to the old-standbys like event matches, Break the Targets, and Home-Run Contest. The only thing the game does wrong is the online mode because it takes forever to load up a short battle and there are no customization options. Brawl is simply an amazing game and will have you coming back for YEARS. Get it.

The first Wii Sports Resort was fun but quickly got old. This game offers twelve sports which are a mixed bag. Air Sports, Archery, and Bowling are the winners for amazing controls with the new Wii MotionPlus and great gameplay. Everything else is either so-so or a complete waste of time. The game has stamps, like Xbox achievements, but no online play. Overall, Wii Sports Resort is pretty fun and holds up for a longer period of time than the original. However, don't expect the Wii MotionPlus to fix bad gameplay and design.

Mario Kart Wii

The Mario Kart series has always been amazing and this game is no different. The courses are great and the inclusion of bikes (motorcycles) was a great one. There are a few odd decisions for the new game, like how battling on teams is the only option. The game is getting a little to hectic and random, with the old items as well as Pow Block, Blooper, Lightning Cloud, Bullet Bill, and Mega Mushroom. The Wii controls work great but Nintendo switched the drifting system to make it a little too easy. Mario Kart Wii is a great game, especially online, and will keep you coming back again and again if the series is getting a little too easy.

Although it was still fun, I was very disappointed. The story is kind of stupid and confusing. I enjoyed the action gameplay, but not being able to move while in first person was an unnecessary challenge. Also, Samus' stupid commander in the game has to "give authorization" to use cool weapons and suits. Overall, the game is still fun, and the cutscenes look amazing, but at this point one would think that Nintendo could do better.

User ScoreDucky418

This game is all about fun. It doesn't provide too much challenge, but the multiplayer in itself is enough difficulty. It gets very hectic when four players are trying to accurately time jumps, meaning usually at least one of them will get accidentlly (or purposely) stomped down the pit. The game gives the tools to mess up other players, such as picking them up and then throwing them. The new suits, propeller and penguin, work well also. Very much worth it, but prepare for craziness.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is funny. It is full of stupid cartoon-like jokes where everyone can't help but laugh. The minigames themselves work okay, and it is absolutely hilarious at a party, but they feel a little gimmicky. Also there simply not enough of them and some of them, like the dancing game, get boring quickly. Get it if your willing to play through some mediocre minigames for a good laugh.

Although it felt a little too much like a giant expansion pack, Super Mario Galaxy 2 had most of the things that made the first one great. Its a little annoying to have to have a certain amount of stars to progress, but the inclusion of Yoshi and plenty of other new ideas have more than made up for it. If you loved the first, play this game immediately. If you didn't, be warned that this game is not much of an improvement over the still amazing original.
