SMITE3
Feb 12, 2020
I'd argue that SMITE is better than league of legends when it comes to inside the game. Between the two I would rather play SMITE over LoL even though LoL is more polished. But SMITE still isn't anything special. It may just be that I am not a big fan of the MOBA genre but it's not really anything special. Combat is about the same as LoL is with just a different camera angle. SMITE is a lot more aggressive with it's microtransactions which is a large down side. I would not really recommend this game. If you're a fan of LoL this may be a fun game to mix it up some but it's not really my style of game. Just know that there will be much more microtransactions and less polish.

Dicey Dungeons7
Feb 12, 2020
Dicey Dungeons is quite an interesting game that I both like and dislike. Starting off with the negatives; the game feels like it should be in early access. It's short, it need balancing changes, and it just altogether feels more like a really good concept that needs more work to see it's full potential. I beat a run on my second attempt and the whole time I was waiting for the game to actually get hard as I was still using the things I started out with and was breezing through it. On top of that once I did beat it I was seriously expecting that there would be more floors leading up to another boss but no, that was it. The game really feels like it is lacking. Now with all that said, it's still a fun experience. I enjoyed my run despite feeling it was too easy and too short. The combat is fun and innovative and it really feels like a good concept that could be great just given some more thought. With how it is though it's more of a casual game. Things are easy and you can beat a run in a very short amount of time. This is certainly a good one to grab so you can just pick it up and play a run or two every now and then to kill some time. Just don't expect a challenge or enough time to really get a good build going.

10 Second Ninja3
Feb 12, 2020
10 Second Ninja has some decent ideas, however, the execution falls flat. The general premise of the game is you have 10 seconds to complete a small level where you jump around to avoid spikes and kill all the robots by shooting throwing stars at them, however, you have a limited supply of them so need to use them wisely. Sounds like it would be fun. 10 Second Ninja Just doesn't do a good job at creating a fun feel. First off the mechanics of the game feel sloppy. Movement isn't fun, you can only shoot in two directions, and it's just got the feel of a free web browser game you'd play on one of those sites like Armor Games. 10 Second Ninja just really lacks any quality.

Akihabara: Feel the Rhythm1
Feb 12, 2020
I am normally a fan of rhythm games, however, this one was just SO awful. It seems like they tried to mix Tetris, rhythm games, and bejewled. All into one game without regard as to how they should be put together for it to work. Then they just slapped some anime stuff on top of it to at least capture that demographic and called it a day. The gameplay is just awful, not engaging at all, and just makes me want to leave the game. The design of the game seems to have 0 thought put in as the way they tried to merge these concepts is just done so poorly that it really feels like you're trying to just keep track of 3 different games going on at one time instead of playing one game that takes 3 concepts and uses them. All this and I haven't even gotten to mention the sever lack polish to literally everything including the main menu.

Zup! Zero1
Feb 12, 2020
All the games in the zup series are the exact same thing with different levels so what I say in this review is valid of all of them. Currently there are 15 zup games, any future ones will most likely hold this same criticism, however, I can only speak for the current ones. Zup exists for one thing and one thing only. To pad your achievements on steam. Every level you play gives you a bunch of achievements, even just opening the game for the first time will drown you in achievements. One of the most common reasons for wanting said achievements is for your achievement showcase on your steam profile as each achievement in the game is a letter of the alphabet or a number this game will allow you to spell stuff out in there. If this is all you're looking for out of the game then I suppose it's for you. Gameplay wise zup ****. It's a physics based puzzle game with inconsistent physics and easy to solve puzzles (when the physics work). Each zup game is a clone of the others and really should just be sold as one large game since they are identical in everything except the achievements you get and the layout of levels. If they were all combined into one and even had a level editor so users could then create their own levels on the workshop then this game would be worth picking up and even worth more than the $0.99 asking price. But as it is I highly recommended against the game for anything gameplay related. If you're after the achievements and that alone then feel free to pick it up.

Very innovative game that does an amazing job at combining the Card Game category with Rouge Likes. Certainly an impressive job and one of the best 2019 releases on steam.

Darkest Dungeon10
Feb 12, 2020
Amazing game! Love the stress aspect since it's quite innovative and not something you typically ever think of in a game. The game is also incredibly polished and is very well done. I'd highly recommend this game to anyone that is interested in an innovative game, likes Roguelike games, or likes games that make you think about the characters.

Just Shapes & Beats10
Feb 12, 2020
I first heard about this game from a YouTuber I watch on his Favorite Game Animation of 2018 video. When I saw it there I found it kinda interesting, how can a 2d game with just simple shapes be considered one of the best-animated games of the year? I looked a bit more into the game and figured the concept seemed fun and it had some songs I like so I bought it to give it a try and boy was it worth it. First off Just Shapes & Beats 100% deserved that spot on New Frame Plus's video. The animations are sublime. You'd never expect to see simple shapes convey such personality but Berzerk Studio does it so well! Everything in the entire game is just loaded with personality and creativity to the point that you can just get a feel for the dev team behind it and how much they enjoyed it themselves. The only negative note I have on it is that my typical rule of thumb is that I get 1 hour per $1 I spend but in this game, I beat story in 4 hours. Typically this would make me more hesitant to recommend but with how beautifully crafted it is I am totally fine with letting this one issue slide. This issue could also be taken care of if the devs release a way to make custom maps, this would become one of my most played games if that was a thing. All in all this game is wonderful and I would highly recommend it!

Sayonara Wild Hearts8
Feb 12, 2020
Sayonara Wild Hearts is a good experience, however, it is a short one. I beat the game in a little under an hour and there were some levels that I felt would have been fun if they were not so short such as the night drift level. The music is by far the best part of it. The game has a handful of fundamental UX issues that REALLY take away from the game and prevent it from being one of my favorites. It's still something I would recommend but it's not on the top of any lists. The game tends to break your momentum a lot in a few ways which make it so much less enjoyable. One of the major ways it does this is having you sent back to the level select between each level. There are some more minor ways that it does this kind of thing and it just constantly takes away from the experience. The game is certainly a good experience but it could be SO much better with some UX changes and some more thought in the game design and level design. Despite all that the art style and the music really pull this game ahead. It may not be my number one pick of 2019, however, it's still on the upper side of the list. With the issues I had complained about it would be a contender for the top spot. Edit: So after playing the game a bit more, I was able to get over the UX issues and it becomes a lot more fun after a playthrough or two. The UX issues should still be addressed as they certainly took away from my initial enjoyment of the game and I am sure they did the same for others. But once you've played a bit the game certainly grows on you a lot more.

Titan Souls9
Feb 12, 2020
Titan Souls is a very fun, however, very hard game. You will die in this game. You need to be able to take those deaths and use them to learn how to beat the boss. Titan Souls does a wonderful job with designing it's bosses. They are all very elegant and fun to play against once you learn how to. They also always tend make you fully utilize all of the mechanics in the game. The game designers did a really wonderful job on this one! I did not come across many negatives in this, other than it allows you to play with keyboard and mouse, however, for an experience that isn't painful you need to use a controller.

Terraria10
Feb 12, 2020
If you're a fan of games like MineCraft or Starbound then this game is for you. Terraria has much more to offer than those games do as you get later and later on into the game, however, Terraria manages to handle balancing everything and giving you new stuff at a decent pace really well. Terraria is one of those few gems that can give you hundreds of hours of gameplay in loads of different ways. There is always something to want to do in Terraria, it may be fight the next boss, get the next coolest item, or build an amazing house.

Starbound10
Feb 12, 2020
If you're a fan of Terraria then you'll love this game and despite what people say, they have some heavy differences. Starbound has a large focus on exploration and items whilst Terraria is more focused on boss fights. Both are excellent games in their own ways.

Stardew Valley9
Feb 12, 2020
**** Valley is a very calm and relaxing game that somehow is a perfect fit for everyone! If you just want to have a relaxing time doing some farming or some random stuff you can do that and it's just as valid of trying to squeeze every lest bit of money you can out of every action if you're the type who has fun optimizing everything. There's so many ways to play and so many things to do in what seems like just a simple farming simulator. I'd certainly recommend picking it up and it has multiplayer so playing with a friend can make it that much more great! (or horrible depending on what type of people you hang out with)

Baba Is You10
Feb 12, 2020
Baba Is You is one of the most innovative puzzle games I have seen yet. The idea of making the game rules change on the fly like they are is very brilliant. The levels do an excellent job of playing with the game rules. At first glance you would think something that lets you change the rules like this would be easy but once you start playing you see just how hard things can get while the core concept stays simple and elegant. Baba Is You is one of my top favorite games of 2019 and possibly the most innovative game of 2019 only being matched by Slay The Spire.

SoulCalibur VI7
Feb 12, 2020
I have not played many fighting games but out of the ones I have played SOULCALIBUR VI has been the best. The game for sure is not without it's faults, most notably the shotty net code that drops games a lot, the large amounts of DLC, the matchmaking never matching you with someone of equal skill, and the main menus being ify at best. The game certainly has some flaws but for as far as fighting games go the combat is quite fun, very very hard to master like most fighting games, but still fun for both people that have mastered it and those who have not. (as long as you're not new and placed against someone who has mastered it which will happen)

Crypt of the NecroDancer9
Feb 12, 2020
Crypt of the NecroDancer is a very innovative game that somehow manages to put together Roguelike dungeon games and rhythm games into one well polished and fun game. So far in my playtime, I have found no bugs or issues or really even anything that felt unfair. The rules of the game make sense, are fair, are fun, and still manage to be challenging. The inclusion of being able to add any song you want to the game really brings this game over the top. On top of that, they added support for the steam workshop for mods. Allowing customizability is always something games should do.
