Dredd stands out amongst it's other film adaptations as the least worst, an achievement equal to standing out as the least frequent public mastabator. The film is simple but enjoyable, abandoning any attempt at an engaging or involving plot for a buffet of somewhat connected action sequences. Dialogue is completely superfluous and only helps the movie spell out what basic task Dredd is turn into an action scene next. Characters are about videogame tier, you got Dredd who was told to scowl constantly to be more like the comic but instead looked **** stupid in real life, then you got attractive blonde rookie who's supposed to be a sympathetic female lead that acts like a normal human to contrast all the **** up junkie fodder for Dredd to murder and lastly you got the antagonist mama who just says stuff to characters that dont matter and then dies. So you got two characters that **** matter and one that could be replaced by post it note with "Kill Dredd, ps: not all at once" Enjoyable for dumb action but lacking in soul and wit

This movie is painful and pointless interpretation of a classic that needlessly and awkwardly changes race out of pure desperation to get some kind of response from viewers and shield itself from criticism. Having a black Annie makes no sense, and it doesnt justify the films existence at all so the agenda has to be something out of vanity, a crime Will Smith is so guilty of it discredits him as an actor. Cameron Diaz also can't seem to stop **** for one second to act.

Taken 1 was at best a cliche revenge movie, but it was fast and punchy and it was simple, it was something new and when it came on at 8pm on Channel Ten ya mum watched it and made it most of the way through before she fell asleep. Taken 2 came out shortly after and sprayed diarrhea so hard even the simple people didnt enjoy it, Taken 2 was such a shameless cash grab it's astounding that **** paid money again, this time to see Tak3n. So people never learn and this movie took the top spot at the box office perpetuating the cycle of cheap **** movies, and more specifically **** rehashes which take up over 90% of recent releases (no actually, this is a real statistic) to make money off idiots. This movie is bad in the same way the Star Wars Christmas Special is bad, no-one wanted to see it, no-one wanted to make it, no-one gave a ****

This film was a surprisingly enjoyable ride, it had sleek visuals, engaging characters and a plot that had me hooked until the very end, where it stumbled a bit. Hugh Jackman felt like a strange pick considering how many people would only associate him with the endless **** comic book movies that are still spraying out of Hollywoods anus, extremely average action movies, and that one movie Australia that literally no-one gives a **** about. Hugh was good though, he played the emotionally tormented dad who would do anything for his daughter, but he takes it to the point where he goes so far that everyone in the audience disconnected from the character completely and he enters the "too **** up to sympathise" zone which is usually reserved for the bad guy so their torturous demise can be justified, but the movie continues like hes a protagonist and everyone just runs with it because **** yeah we want to know who took his daughter. Jake Gyllenhaal does a great job of the obsessed gifted detective and his scenes are what make the movie interesting, but he's downplayed somewhat by the amount of screentime he shares and gives up for Jackman who spends it torturing a **** who somehow withstands serious amounts of **** which I felt was unrealistic or at least poorly explained, he says just enough to provoke Jackmans character and acts like he's intentionally enduring the torture for mysterious reasons, which are never really explored. The final scene is somewhat of a tease where a dramatic 3-way of characters with extremely strong motivation could have clashed but instead sort of just wrapped up without too much of a fuss. Still a great thriller that might be a bit uncomfortable for your girlfriend, but she'll be squeezing your hand real tight the whole time, absolutely worth a view.

Jake Gyllenhaal **** nails the role of a sociopath manipulating his way to the top of a lucrative underworld business. Fantastic casting, filming, and dialogue make this unique and gritty story a vivid experience. Scenes transition effortlessly and efficiently bringing the plot to a engaging and intense climax that finishes on a bittersweet and ominous ending. The film stands out stylistically, and it's wonderful and horrifying to see Gyllenhaal's character evolve subtly over the course of the film. It's rare to find a movie that engages the viewer so well, there's never a moment where you feel bored or disconnected from the character, which is an even greater feat considering the protagonist is in many ways the antagonist, and whos character is in itself disconnected and dehumanised. While the plot doesn't have a lot of twists and turns it focuses so well on the evolution of the main character that it achieves absolutely everything it needs to. I'd recommend this film for anyone who's hungry for a good engaging thriller with great visuals and immersive writing.

This movie looks nice but the script can eat my balls, nice visuals and a talented screen director are squandered on extremely poor writing and editing for the benefit of the mentally handicapped. This movie was so pro-America it made me **** laugh, from the moment they try and make **** seem ok to the protagonist's character arc occurring in the first act of the movie. I like over the top action movies but this movie takes itself seriously and delivers only **** tease action with no meaning. Shia LaBeouf does a great job and hes got the best character but he's surround by **** and the movie isnt about him, he takes a back seat to Pitt and the dumb kid who awkwardly and pointlessly become Dad and Son completely changing Pitts character, who we already know because the director cast Brad Pitt as the exact same character from Inglorious Basterds. The real issue with this film is there is no story, there's no motivation for the characters, there's no **** antagonist, there's nothing at stake so when they go off to do whatever for no reason you can't care. Nothing at all builds up to the final scene where you're treated to the same scene of Germans helplessly dying (as they have the whole movie) repeated over and over and over until the movie finishes is proverbial sloppy handjob with no finish, rolls over, farts and falls asleep as the credits roll. I'd recommend the scenes when Shia LaBeouf shoots the tank cannon but nothing else, this is a movie for the extremely simple of mind who applaud Uncle Sam's freedom loving American soldiers bringing Gods divine will to the evil **** in their fantastical naive concept of World War II. This movie is a good summary of the diarrhea stream of recent movies that people like because holy **** thinking is hard.

John Wick

John Wick is Carl Rinsch's second attempt at making a movie (again with Reeves) after making the pile of **** 47Ronin. This movie is, like his last attempt, a bunch of cliche film tropes with barely any original shots, plot ideas, characters or dialogue. The film is well produced having substantial advertising and even a videogame tie in but the actual movie shows naivety in it's inability to take risks or show originality. From the start the characters and their motivations are dis-interesting and bland, we're introduced to several characters like they're important, only to have them die seconds later or get 3 minutes of screentime . With nothing at stake the events that progress the plot have no impact or hold any importance to the viewer, meanwhile the characters in the scenes react weirdly and unrealistically to whats happening, making everyone appear heavily autistic or simply insane. Weird editing seemingly cuts all connecting shots in the film leaving it disjointed and awkward, there's no sense of immersion because the movie only tells and never shows to the point of frustration. John just does **** off screen, critical interactions between characters are just imposed instead of created. Simply put this movie is **** boring, it's not a well made B movie, it's a poorly made B movie with an A movie budget. John Wick is a real piece of **** from the extremely dated 90s emo soundtrack ft Marilyn Manson constantly to the tediously cliche scenes, awkward writing, and 1 dimensional characters the movie really comes across as a script written and directed by a child. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Unless you desperately want to see Reeves not give a **** in yet another movie.
