I love Trials and have been a playing since HD. This game was such a huge let down. The UI was horrible and the World Map was an absolute mess. The non-linear layoutr and the grind just to unlock tracks made this game seem like a bad mobile port. -(also, here's looking at you premium currency and loot crates) I unlocked the first set of hard tracks then deleted the game after finishing them. I hated this because I enjoy the hard and extreme tracks the most, but I'm not going back and doing 25 backflips and riding wheelies for 100m on pretty much every track just to progress to the next set. I'm pretty sure it was Ubisoft who influenced these awful decisions (especially the constantly online feature) that essentially were game breaking. Slowdowns and stutters were terrible, and I'm sure they are game-breaking for high-level extreme players. If they do make another Trials game, go back and look EVO. It pretty much did everything right. But this game was just a mess.

I've just got around to playing this recently. I'm a huge Metal Gear fan, but man, was I let down with this entry! The game looked good and had tight controls, for the most part, but that's about all the praise I can give it. This game was so repetitive and had terrible pacing. Capture this guy, capture that guy, destroy this convoy, destroy that equipment...repeat, repeat, repeat. Story is so important in the Metal Gear game, but this games story was not only absurdly stupid, it was hindered even more, by the ridiculously slow pacing. (And the product advertisements? WTF?) The open-(empty) world setting really hurt this game IMO. Don't even get me started on Mother **** pointless. If you compiled 60 hours in this game, 10 or more of it was spent running from or to your objective from the Heli drop off/pick-up. Then the game has an ending, and another Chapter (2), which in order to unlock the final mission has all these prerequisites that you are going to have no idea for the most part what they are... come on? Not to mention all the pointless mundane missions you have already completed thrown in there. Overall this was a huge and frustrating, sometimes boring, disappointment for me.

The game is fun and entertaining, but is a bit of a disappointment after Evolution and an overall step back. ***UPDATED*** Everything I originally stated is pretty much the same. If you haven't gotten to play trials I'd still say get it, but with every update lately the game has taken on a look of a mobile game with endless pop-ups and ads on main screens for DLC, have made the game take on the appearance of a desperate mobile game. I've lowered my score from 7 to 6. This is obnoxious, and I'm sure is an outcome of Redlynx being purchased by Ubisoft. (This BS compelled me to update this review) The gameplay and controls are excellent and on par with the previous titles, and FMX was a great addition. Red Lynx dropped the ball when it comes to customization. The body kits are OK, but I want to be able to change the color on every part of my bike! I hate all the white/silver strips and accents I cant change! I don't understand why devs would exclude simple features such as this from a new title like this! The leveling up was just a meh addition, and goes hand in hand with the track challenges. I'm a pretty good Trials player, I have zero faulted all the Inferno tracks, but some of these challenges were ridiculous! There shouldn't be challenges requiring you to zero fault and extreme track,. I could see this being a huge turn off to some, and is frustrating for someone wanting to get all the trophies/achievements. The future theme wore thin on me rather quickly. The AI voices grated on my nerves quickly, and trying to incorporate that story was just silly. The track editor was a disappointment to me coming from Fusion's editor. I was sad to see that there were no classic wood ramps or scaffolding etc. The game is fun, and worth buying, but I'm glad I did not buy the season pass though. If your coming from Fusion you may be disappointed as I was, but if this is your first chance to own a Trials game, get it!

This is one of the few retro style games to completely encompass the 8-bit era, from controls, style to music, and does them all seamlessly while adding some modern gameplay components that make it surpass games from that era. Some of the post NES gamers might, not appreciate it, but I consider it to be pretty much a masterpiece for what it set out to accomplish, and highly recommend it!

I'm always astounded (for some reason) by the rampant ignorance that fills up Metacritic's user review section. 1's and 0's? Come on? Anyways, complaining about not knowing where to go next, having to do some backtracking and and giving a negative review because the game doesn't grab you by the hand and pull you through the entire experience telling you what to do at every whim is asinine. Most likely the complainers probably did not play NES games and/or were more than likely born in the 90's or later. Axiom Verge did exactly what it set out to do. It payed homage to Metroid, and encompassed everything from that era, from visuals to game design. These types of games were all about exploration, so yeah you had to do some **** deal. I guess gamers have gotten so lazy, ADD ridden and spoiled that they can't bear to backtrack for a few minutes, or do a little exploration on their own without whining. If you're someone who loved NES games, especially Metroid (obviously) pick it up! This game is fun, immersive, and addictive. It's well worth the price, and not to mention you would be supporting a good man who worked by himself, for years developing all the visuals, coding, sound, and even music, to deliver this experience to us. Excellent game!

This is one of the most addictive games I've played since I first played Trials HD and one of the better PS+ titles. I can't believe people on here saying the controls are unresponsive, and rating the game at 1 and 0! The controls are tight and work exactly as intended. Anyone who thinks otherwise and immediately writes the game off while coming on here to post a scathing negative review is a fool! If you take a few hours and practice the control scheme and get the hang of it, it is tons of fun. I highly recommend it! Don't listen to the numb skull people who played the game for 15 minutes and think they have enough knowledge about it to come on here and give it a 1.

Very Repetitive game with not much replay-ability after a certain point. And $100 worth of DAY 1 DLC? Which means it could have been included in the game and made it better. You would think when launching a new IP that devs and publishers would want to put out their best product, and not bend you over right out of the gate! And you people buying DLC like this, do you just not care, or is it your parents money or what? How can you justify buying it? These greedy practices are a cancer to gaming I hope this game ends up being a complete failure for this reason.

This is an amazing game with beautiful visuals, and great lasting appeal. The game would have been a 10 for me if they hadn't nerfed the ships and revamped the AI with the update. The game went from challenging to frustrating (which is what I thought master was for). If you don't believe me, delete the game download it again then delete the update file before it downloads. It's been a while since I played, and wanted to go back and platinum it. I'm (was?) pretty good, but was having difficulty on Veteran getting past the third level after the update, so I read some about the update and tried this, and lo and behold, I completed Veteran and also got the 1CC trophy in a couple hours all solo. Overall though, a great game I would highly recommend, and it also has great free DLC

I don't understand the critical acclaim and love for this game. It tries to be a combination of The Last of Us, and Resident Evil 4, but comes up terribly short on both accounts. The visuals are just OK, the gameplay on all accounts, from movement to combat are just terrible and clunky, and feel unfinished. The voice acting, and dialogue are completely deplorable. Also, there is virtually no ammo, even on easy the enemies take an obscene amount of ammo to kill, so you spend most of your time just running away, not necessarily my idea **** time. I've had to push myself to finish this game, it just simply isn't fun. I can safely say that this was the biggest gaming disappointment of 2014 for me.

Firstly, Blue Point did an excellent job with the port. While it doesn't have the same graphical flair as the XB1, it still looks good on nearly 10 year old hardware and runs smoothly to boot. The game is fun, for a while, but could offer a little more to the player. Customization, more game modes, etc. IW was never good when it came to providing lobby leaderboards, and I guess they brought that with them to Respawn. The biggie though is the AI controlled grunts. These are what really kills this game for me. They are the overwhelming majority of the enemy you will come across and for real competitive players this will make the game get stale rather quickly. Maybe subpar players enjoy getting these kills, but it doesn't do anything for me, and is the ultimate reason I'll be selling the game. Don't get me wrong the game has potential, but it becomes stale and boring rather quickly.

Honeymoon phase has worn off, so I'm back to update my review. This game of course has the tight controls COD is known for and feels good, but for some reason after the first few days of the game playing good, connections got worse and worse, now it's back to the issues that ruined MW3 and BO2 for me. 1 shot insta-kills, being constantly behind people. Then the spawns! I believe they know exactly what they are doing with connections, spawns, etc. and it's a conscious business decision to try and level the playing field and give inferior casual players an advantage to gain that "customer for life." The only reason I bought the game was because of supposed dedicated servers, but I've only played a few games that would lead me to believe they are there. Oh, well I was fooled again. This series has gotten so far away from what it used to be, and is destined for failure with it's current formula of a half finished game once a year, and deservedly so. If they would only release one ever 3 or so years and actually support it, it would be good, but they won't Oh well Titanfall can't come quick enough and I hope it buries COD at this point.
