It's a game where focus is rewarded, and as such there's a welcome emphasis on using the PS4's hardware to relay information to the player without compromising their concentration, such as the pad-based speaker barking instructions.

Resogun is one of Housemarque's best games to date. It's addicting and inventive and offers more than enough content to satisfy a good while.

Fantastic game which honours Defender, respects it, brings it into the modern era. Everything about it is brilliantly done; it's smooth, playable, addictive, it looks incredible, the difficulty curve is so well-judged. Housemarque seem to have this ability to make games which are insanely addictive and challenging, yet so much fun they're never annoying. Nex Machina is another example. Resogun is an absolute festival of arcade fun, and deserves attention even years after release.

Resogun is a small but brilliant launch title for PlayStation 4 and you shouldn’t miss it. Perhaps it has only one single problem: the contents are too few and you’ll have seen everything of it in a couple of hours.

Much like Geometry Wars was for the Xbox 360, it’s an extremely fun and addictive arcade shoot-em-up that is actually more worth your time than any of the hotly anticipated full-priced launch titles.

Resogun is a visual spectacle and a delight to play. Its only mistake is to not include more ships and more levels.

Resogun does everything it promises, and not a a bit more. It has gorgeous graphics and solid skill-based gameplay, with valuable online co-op support and just enough content to keep things interesting for a while.

I have never put so much time into one game in my life. I've been playing this for over a year now and I'm still learning. I can see myself playing it for another year!

In 1995 Super Dropzone on the SNES was basically Defender: The Next Generation and Resogun is essentially Super Dropzone: The Next Generation. Explosions galore and frantic alien-shooting/human rescuing with a pleasingly old school visual style, this would be fantastic stuff on a handheld but on the PS4 I expect a little more. Good fun is short bursts but a little lacking in substance.

The game is fine, but I don't see myself coming back to it. It plays very similarly to Defender, but since I don't like shmups, I got bored pretty quickly. It's a great game to show off to friends and family, but I don't think I would play much of it on my own.

Absolutely lacking game. Lacks both in gameplay and design which give 2negative points, very short in addition to that. Not even close to R-Type ot Pixeljunk Shooter.
