Mika and The Witch's Mountain7
Sep 2, 2024
Mika and The Witch's Mountain is technically a solid game for Nintendo Switch. Except for some significant framedrops near the end of the game, i didn't experience any problems. Graphics are cute and the gameplay is relaxing. Meeting different characters from other Chibig games gives some good memories. Also some references to other video games are nice. But there are some drawbacks:
The game is prettyshort (only a couple of hours / ~5h)
Settings (inversed jump) isn't saved on exit
Finding some quest targets isn't easy

[Update] This review was written before patch 1.0.7
Any improvements done with the newer patches will be included soon
[/Update] I'd really like to love the game, but during my last 3h session, the game crashed 4 times, which took my quite some time to get back to the last scene before it crashed. If Auto-Save would happen more often, I would not lose that much time, but because of this, it's not fun for me ... For me the combat system is way to slow. Sometimes I'm enabling auto-battle and just wait for some time, until its over.
Conversations and videos feel way to slow and consume more time, than neccessary.
When meeting a new person to recruit, I'd love to get some quest log to track progress and the characters itself, but such QOL is not available ...
Besides that, I would like to see when and what monsters will trigger a battle instead of getting into a fightstraight of of nowhere. All in all
- fix the bugs
- improve performance
- add QOL features
and I'll update my rating to 8/10

Pikmin 47

Nice game, but unfortunatly they decided to drop the great coop from Pikmin 3 and decided to go for a "assist" mode. Playing together in couch-coop isn't fun at all.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom7

I really like the game. A big world to explore with a lot of things to do, but ... The Switch is pretty old now, Nintendo did a great job in getting this up and running, but the graphics are sometimes not as sharp as they should be. Breaking weapons are the worst feature ever, i hated it on BotW and it's even worse on TotK. Some story links to BotW are nice (like in Gerudo town), other are completly missing. The story misses a lot of its potential. Trying to get money for armor sets is a lot of stupid farming and grinding. All in all a good, solid game which could be even better.
